Hello my friends and welcome to another episode of The Wedding Wombat and the last one for the year 2021!

It has been another tough year for everyone planning their weddings and equally for all of us working in the wedding industry!

In this episode, we are looking back at the last two years and counting down the Top 5 most popular episodes and some of the wisdom from each.

To work this out, I looked at all the listener stats and downloads and divided each by the number of months to make it fair. We have had some great episodes and really interesting guests... which episodes do you think will be in the Top 5? You might be surprised. I know I was...

Hello and welcome to the first episode back in 2021 after a well earned break! So much has happened since we last chatted and we will get into that in today’s show. Plus, we talk with 3 wedding vendors who have joined with me to create something rather special- today’s episode has some big ideas about micro weddings.

We made it 2021 and things look to be improving. Trump is gone and covid 19 seems to be on the decline. Dancing is allowed again and wedding restrictions are being lightened. We still can’t have overseas guests but things are getting easier.

And my news? Well, my book BeLoved has been released and become an Amazon best seller and at the launch party, my long term partner proposed, so now I’m a fiancée too! Ah, the joys of planning, hey?!

Like so many of you, I’m thinking a smaller, more intimate wedding might be the way to go. And today on the Wedding Wombat, we chat with a unique and special venue that has just opened it’s doors for micro weddings and offering packages that include accommodation, photography, celebrant and catering if needed. If you haven’t chosen your venue yet, this episode is going to uncover an absolute gem!

The gorgeous photos were taken by Deb Carr and here is a link to her profile piece about the venue- https://www.northcoastnswlifestyle.com.au/post/north-arm-cove-airbnb-5-bedroom-home?fbclid=IwAR1CybiM7jYOtTC1xfeS5Rsx-45ysrk-uk8YH_ch6r0_OhTAls_afIW9bTQ

In this episode of The Wedding Wombat, we look at traditions in the lead up to a wedding and whether we need to consider their patriarchal influences. Keep, embrace, question or smash the patriarchy? Your choice- but whatever you choose, this is an important conversation to have and consider.

We mostly focus on heterosexual couples in this episode as same-sex couples already navigate these questions to suit them already, whilst straight couples have tradition and expectation to potentially rebel against or adjust to be real for them!

As always, we love your feedback and reviews. Share this podcast so we can help as many couples planning their big day!

Welcome friends to another episode of The Wedding Wombat!

I thought in this episode I’d catch you up on how the weddings went for the couples I interviewed about their Coronavirus weddings.

Yes, there was a register for names and yes, there was sanitiser on tap and yes there were elbows of congratulations but there was so much more- and I’m going to tell all- today on The Wedding Wombat.

Find out how Destinee and Ben's wedding went from Episode 11 and how Cat and Jono fared from Episode 13. I'll share about Sally and Kiel as well in this episode and give you a flavour of unique individualised ceremonies during these Covid 19 times.

In every online wedding forum, someone regularly asks for suggestions for songs to walk down the aisle to. In this episode, I share my list with a mix of popular, traditional, unique and different options. When I came up with this list- and by no means is it definitive, I decided to make sure that each artist could only appear once. Honestly, there were so many incredible songs I could have chosen and I could have easily done a Top 100 and still left great choices out!
As you may have guessed if you are a regular listener, I have a flair for the dramatic and am always happy to help my couples with chorography for walking in to create the best impact in relation to their song of choice.

So, enjoy this "labour of love" episode and let me know if it helps!

Here's the links to my playlist with all 25 songs-

I surprise my Mum  with my first visit since Covid-19 changed everything and after we tearfully resisted the desire to wrap each other in a loving cuddle, we got down to chatting about the duties and thoughts about traditions and modern day takes on being the proud Mother. I love my Mum and in this episode I get to share her with you. If you are getting married, this is the perfect episode to recommend to your Mum.

In this special Valentine's Day edition, we meet Verity Mansfield, Relationship Coach and extraordinary woman with a powerful message about love, sex, romance and marriage. We talk about how to make your relationship juicy and your marriage even juicier!

8 years ago Verity found herself collapsed on the bottom of the shower floor, hoping the noise of the thundering water would drown out her gut-wrenching hysterical sobbing, so her kids wouldn’t hear her fall apart. She didn’t feel broken. She felt destroyed. Her marriage was falling apart. The kids were not getting the best of their mother. Her workplace was sucking the life out of her. She felt disappointed, disconnected and dead inside. Something had to give or Verity0 was going to explode. So she hit the ‘red’ button. You know the one they say only to hit in an emergency? Verity walked out of her marriage, out of an international fashion career and without looking back plunged into the darkness of the unknown with two toddlers, a mortgage and $136 cash.

In that moment, Verity broke the "good girls rules" and chose a life of integrity and authenticity. With the wisdom of hindsight and a successful career as a Relationship Coach, Verity shares from a real place to inspire everyone listening in this episode to enjoy juicy relationships- with yourself, with others and whether you choose marriage... or not.
