It's that point in the offseason where playful trash talk makes all the headlines.

Last week, Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher did just that was his comments, declaring that the Aggies would beat Alabama coach Nick Saban's you-know-what before he retires in Tuscaloosa. Saban's response was brilliant — "In golf?"

So on the latest episode of the All Things Bama Podcast, host Tyler Martin and staff writer Joey Blackwell examine the toughest opponents on the Crimson Tide's 2021 schedule and who poses the biggest threat to knock off the defending SEC and national champions?

Is it indeed Texas A&M? What about Ole Miss, Florida, Auburn, Miami or LSU?

The two dive into what former Tennessee linebacker Henry To'oTo'o brings to the Crimson Tide and what immediate impact he could have.

Blackwell also gives his weekly update on what's going on with Alabama on the diamond. Coach Brad Bohannon's squad takes a trip to Baton Rouge this weekend to face LSU in a pivotal series and confidence is high that the Crimson Tide could take two out of three.

Martin and Blackwell recap Alabama softball's 5-1 win over Kentucky in the SEC tournament quarterfinals. Will we see a rematch of the 2012 and 2019 SEC championship games of Alabama and Florida? Will the Crimson Tide add another title over the weekend?

Clark, who has a weekly 'Friday Night Lights' radio show on Tide 100.9, and Martin examine the games of Alabama commits, 2021 DT Anquin Barnes and 2022 DE Jeremiah Alexander.

Could we see Barnes a part of the offensive line group in 2021 instead of defensive line?

The Crimson Tide will have its final scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Clark and Martin dissect what the depth chart could look like and react to what they have heard heading into the weekend.

Which starting jobs are still up for grabs?

On the most recent episode of the All Things Bama Podcast, host Tyler Martin is joined by Sports Illustrated All-American director of football recruiting John Garcia Jr. to discuss Alabama’s biggest needs moving forward in the 2021 cycle.

Two of the Crimson Tide’s targets, defensive end Monkell Goodwine and JUCO corner Khyree Jackson, will both announce their decisions on Aug. 15.

For Goodwine, Texas A&M is the biggest threat to Alabama and, for Jackson, it is Oklahoma. Garcia and Martin break down the two players and preview their announcements.

What is the national landscape of high school football around the country amidst COVID-19? Garcia offers updates and his opinion on if we get a full season.

Some national prospects are moving across state lines to make sure their senior seasons get played. For example, 2021 USC commit, elite signal caller Jake Garcia is headed south to play at Valdosta High School in Georgia.

A move like that begs the question, will Alabama circle back around and get involved in his recruitment?

Veteran leaders like Petty and Herbert Jones mixed with a high-level recruiting class very well could be the recipe for success the program needs to have a deep run in the NCAA tournament when March rolls around.

All Things Bama Podcast host Tyler Martin is joined by former Crimson Tide wide receiver Matt Caddell on today's episode to chat about his recruitment, career, and the most memorable play of his time in Tuscaloosa - a game-winning touchdown catch against Arkansas in 2007 with only seconds remaining on the clock.

Caddell was a member of the Alabama program from 2003-2007 and caught 86 passes for a total of 1,135 yards and five touchdowns.

He takes a look back at what led him to the Capstone and what going through multiple coaching changes was like in his career going from Dennis Franchione to Mike Price to Mike Shula then Nick Saban.

The McAdory High School product takes a trip down memory lane where he details the final drive of the Crimson Tide's matchup against Arkansas in 2007, which resulted in him hauling in a touchdown pass from John Parker Wilson to beat the Razorbacks in Saban's first ranked SEC win as coach at Alabama.

Caddell also gives his expectations on what the Crimson Tide will do in 2020 with a conference-only schedule and, if he was still a player, would he feel safe playing in a pandemic.

Payne's size, athleticism, and quickness speak for itself, but just how high is his ceiling when he arrives in Tuscaloosa? Could he become the next great Crimson Tide defensive tackle?

Major decisions are looming for the SEC, ACC, Big 12 this week in regards to what schedule model these conferences will turn to as we near the end of July and on-field practices set to begin Aug 7.

With the NCAA now allowing teams to move games up to Aug. 29 to provide flexibility if any COVID-19 outbreak happens, could we see Alabama do that possibility? What will happen to Alabama's other non-conference games like Georgia State, Kent State, and UT-Martin? Will those games get played?

Griffin played at the Capstone from 2003-2005 and was a starter during the 2004 and 2005 campaigns that saw Alabama have the No. 1 defense in the country back-to-back years. He finished his Crimson Tide career with 33 total tackles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception.

The BIG 10 and Pac-12 have moved to a conference-only football schedule. Alabama's season opener against USC in Dallas on Sept. 5 is effectively cancelled, but what other options are out there? Could the program find a new opponent from the Big 12 on short notice?

All Things Bama Podcast host Tyler Martin is joined by editor Christopher Walsh for part two of the show's two-part series diving into the Crimson Tide's most important players for the 2020 season.

Note: the list is not necessarily best, but most impactful.

No. 5 DB Patrick Surtain II

The junior cornerback is, clearly, the headliner in the defensive backfield this upcoming season, as he is garnering NFL first-round potential for next year's draft, if he declares early.

In 2019, he wracked up 42 tackles, eight passes defended, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, and one fumble recovery. The Crimson Tide will look to Surtain as the guiding light to a position group that will replace four key contributors from a season ago.

No. 4 QB Mac Jones

At the end of the day, it might not matter who the signal caller for Alabama is, given the talent surrounding that one position, but it is important to note that the job is, presumably Jones' to lose right now. He earned it with a 186.8 passer rating in four starts last year. That number would have qualified for third-best in the nation behind LSU's Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa nationally.

As the starter for those four games and the other contests as the backup, the Jacksonville, Fla. native completed over 68 percent of his passes, threw for 1,503 yards, and 14 touchdowns to go along with only three interceptions. No. 3 OT Alex Leatherwood

Alabama will have one of, if not, the best offensive line in the country this season and the success starts with the guy protecting the quarterback's blindside — Leatherwood.

The featured guest on the All Things Bama Podcast on Friday is former University of Alabama offensive lineman Bill Searcey. The three-year letterman and two-time national champion played at the Capstone from 1977-1980 under the legendary Paul W. 'Bear' Bryant.

He also spent some time in the United States Football League with the Birmingham Stallions and Houston Gamblers before ending his career in the National Football League with the San Diego Chargers.

In the show, Searcey details what it was like playing under Bryant, but more importantly, he shares the personal struggles of drug addiction, alcoholism, and his abuse of pain pills. His addiction even got to the point where he sold both of his national championship rings.

But through it all, he mentions how instrumental his faith has changed the course of his entire life. Just last fall, Searcey beat the odds, defeating pancreatic cancer, which was just another chapter in his life that has been filled with ups and downs.

In 2013, he wrote an autobiography called High Tide: A Story of Football, Freefall, and Forgiveness, which can be purchased here.

Lastly, Searcey gives his take on what the Crimson Tide needs to do in order to get back to the College Football Playoff in 2020 and how Nick Saban compares to Bryant.
