This episode breaks down what actually matters if you want to be competitive:
No hype. No shortcuts. No comfort.

In this episode, Tyler and Diaz pull back the curtain on the entire process of developing a high-performance training course, using the upcoming Competition Train-Up Day as a case study.
🔍 What Goes Into Building an Effective Train-Up?
We don’t just throw drills together—we engineer a training experience designed for immediate, measurable improvement at the next weekend’s competition. Every detail is intentional. Here’s how we do it:
✅ Defining the End Goal – The train-up must produce instant, applicable results. Every drill and concept is built to fix weaknesses and sharpen strengths before the competition.
✅ Breaking Down the Training Structure – Each phase is built around a Primary Focus Topic and a Secondary Focus Topic, ensuring shooters develop key skills in a progressive and layered approach.
✅ Three-Tiered Learning Approach – Every concept is reinforced through Lecture (Understanding the Why), Demonstration (Seeing the How), and Practical Application (Doing the Work).
✅ Developing Training Tasks & Objectives – Each phase includes specific performance-based training objectives that must be met before moving forward.
✅ Creating a Realistic & Effective Schedule – We optimize training time by structuring drills that maximize reps, reinforce key techniques, and polish execution under pressure.
The result? A strategically designed training program that ensures every shooter walks away better prepared, more confident, and more capable when match day arrives. 🎯
🚀 Want to train smarter and see real results?
Tune in to this episode and learn how training should be built—not just thrown together.

Oh the lessons learned. The heartbreak. The high expectations. Stupid mistakes. Mental errors. If you can make a mistake I made it. I did learn from it, 100% but that doesnt make the pain go away. Initially going in, I had planned to use this as a practice match to prepare me for the upcoming steel safari. But me being me, competitive and driven to win, not even one stage in already putting the pressure on to perform. Perfection at every turn. Thats the expectation. For myself. High standards and very hard to live up to. But heres my recap, i hope it helps you in someway learning from my mistakes and how i process.

Crawl Walk Run? Basic? Advanced? Professional? Amateur? When we think about training whether you're putting your own plan together, training someone, or attending a course, whats your philosophy? Grind the fundamentals until you bleed from your ears? or learn some tricks and determine what you can buy to improve your placement? So many answers. Is there a wrong answer or is this strictly an opinion open to interpretation?

This episode discusses the relationship between Speed, Precision, and Accuracy. There is no replacement for skill, practice, efficiency BUT.... there are techniques that can add speed while maintaining precision. And so we discuss RETICLE HOLDOVERS • MAX POINT BLANK • SPEED DROP. Simple techniques utilizing your reticle, and what you choose to dial on your optic can change the game completely! On a scale of 1 to 5, five being slowest, 1 being fastest and the same goes for the Precision aspect, we have rated each method with instructions on how to utilize each one! Is your need for speed so that youd sacrifice precision while maintaining accuracy? or maybe you want both with very little thinking? So SPEED DROP is your drug of choice? Hit us with your comments, let us know if you have any questions! Going forward 90% of our videos will be primarily PATREON!

Tyler in the absence of Jeph, hits a few daily news points... P. Diddy, the Moons Time Zone?... Load Testing article... then brings it with a discussion around an article from Vermillianchina.com where "Chris Zhang", a Chinese national who attended high school in the United States from 2014-2017 then going on a 3 year training journey, seeking out pistol, carbine, and hand to hand combat from some of the best instructors in the nation with the ultimate goal of returning to China to teach what he'd learned. Red Cell? How long was this plan in motion? Was he even a teenager when he attended our schools? Is this cause for concern? Comment below, let us know what you think!

Its been said do practice till you get it right, practice till you cant get it wrong! For this episode Tyler & Jeph discuss "What is the Muscle Relaxation fundamental?" Do you know the answer? Is it lack of all muscular tension or only muscles that effect your ability to maintain stability and pin point aiming? The duo then shifts into the importance of recoil management, the negative effects of recoil and why does the entire industry ignore these? Is it lack of knowledge? Refuse to dig deeper and be a student of the game? We may never know. But were sharing with you and thats whats important. Another tool for the tool box.

Enter Stem cells, TRT regimen, and Physical therapy that has taken Jeph from feeling 55 as a 47yr old man to a revived and rejuvenated 47 yr old performing like a 28 yr old. Science in action! Learn from others and make your own choices but its important not to make the same mistakes when you have the option to learn beforehand.

You hear it talked about. Instructors, Teachers, Trainers, whatever you want to call them. Regardless, Bone support and Natural point of aim are staples of marksmanship fundamentals. Yet why cant it be described in simple terms? Why arent you being taught or instructed why these are important and how to know if youre failing to achieve them? Tyler breaks it down on this episode of the importance of Natural Point of Aim. What it is and isnt. It is not proper body alignment. Anyone who tells you it is, doesnt completely understand what natural point of aim is. Then the dynamic duo moves into the realm of bone support with a simplistic method of do i have it or dont i. Great to be back to our roots of educational talk shows! Thank you for listening.

Every year. That new year rolls around. Its getting close. Motivations start to rise. Changing your life. Doing things different. Im going to do this. Im going to do that. You set goals. And for a few days, maybe possibly a few weeks, youre on this path. Before life sets in, tries to set you back, the goals seem far. And.... youre right back to where you start. This episode is all about setting goals, reaching them, through discipline, motivation, being driven. Having a plan, establishing habits. Lets put it this way, if it was easy to change your habits, to achieve your goals, every one would do it.

Tyler grills Jeph this week on him getting his body and training back on track to jump into the competition arena. From packs, to physical therapy, gym sessions, cardio, dry fire, and of course, SHOES! Cant overlook proper footwear. Many people in the competitive arena, or even those who carry a rifle for a living, often brush over these details, the value of keeping a certain baseline fitness, controlling your breathing under high intensity situations, and so much more!

Tyler and Jeph bring on a guest, Lauren, who spent the past year training Tyler remotely to prepare him physically for the Sniper Adventure Challenge to a level beyond what he could have accomplished on his own. From adjusting workouts, tracking muscle fatigue, adding a diet. Building strength, adding muscle, and ultimately pushing to a limit beyond anything normal. Not to mention, in depth look at what Tyler is like on the other end of the training spectrum. He will do anything and every to max effort... but he will probably bitch like a little girl the whole time. Definitely an experience worth sharing. Puts a new perspective on having personal and private training whether its for fitness or shooting, if you're serious about taking massive leaps, moving from average to elite, this avenue cannot be overlooked. Eye opening.

An episode of epic magnitude! Continuing where they left off last week, Jeph and Tyler continue discussing the ultimate rifle build which Jeph has dubbed "Tradesman Rifle". From the Action, Trigger, Stock / Chassis, and Bipod, these two see eye to eye on some, and split in different directions on others! With the current configuration, this may just be a game changing rig. Can it hunt and win matches? It would be capable but still gotta be a shooter or all else is moot.

Covering a few topics this weekend! LOP adjustment on the fly? WTF? Good method or another gimmick to cover up bad marksmanship fundamentals? Engaging movers... from Lead Edge? Are you effing mad?! The argument against using lead edge. Why its not a method you should add to your tool box and avoid those who still teach this. Once again, just us being us, telling it how it is and holding nothing back. Sorry MDT, your chassis systems are definitely above average, but damn youre training tips are far below the standard.

Are there any negative side effects to the training? Training Scars? These are important questions to ask yourself or your instructor. THE SNIPER TARGET. Maui. Establishing habits for dialing. Videos being put out by MDT PRO's that seem more click bate. A solid episode where Jeph is in disagreement with Tyler and is trying ever so hard to change his mind.
After a week of discussions, research, theorizing, and ultimately deciding on what the goals are, what is the purpose of the drill? How tight of a standard are we wanting to hold? There was quite alot of feedback regarding our target. DM's, Emails, Jephs friend, people reaching out discussing the Cranial Vault, why that should be the standard. Based off of a good theory and one man with a doctor on his side saying "This is the way". So we took it all in. And now we present it to you. Lay it at your feet and allow you to decide. The target was modified to find a middle ground between both sides of the road. But ultimately there are certain things Tyler will not allow to be set aside as a lower priority skillset, which is the ability to accurate and precisely place a shot where the sniper wants.

Stem Cells, TRT program, Typhoons, what more could you ask for?! Tyler and Jeph dig into the Sniper MOD Qual & Precisionier Target, execution, changes, etc. Discussing the "Cranial Vault" and why the target was designed for between the eyes and nose versus the forehead like its assumed is an immediate incapacitation shot. Training never ends and neither does working on ways to improve. Hitting the wave tops of target analysis and what your impacts mean related to your position and fundamentals. These arent new ideas, they just not heavily preached as they should be.

There is so many videos, podcasts, instructional companies who skip over rifle setup like it doesn't matter. It does! and here is the why behind setting up your rifle to fit you. Tyler & Jeph discuss techniques they've seen applied to utilizing a tripod as a shooting support that make them cringe. Why fight the tripod. Why not set up in the position you want. What are these paint marks on legs and why are they not a good idea. Living life on a tripod can be fruitful but too many times we see shooters not understanding what they're doing but rather going through the motions of a half assed technique someone showed them or they've seen on social media. Remember, fundamentals will always be the foundation. But, techniques, gear, etc will change and evolve. Don't get stuck living a decade or two ago. Seek improvement every day.

Tyler and Jeph discuss a Direct Message received regarding how to improve during competition. Skill. Mental management. Efficiency. Wind Call. Corrections. It all adds up. To improve you must have data. Identify strengths and weaknesses. What kind of data you say? Positions. Wind Calls. Mental mistakes. where are you hemorrhaging impacts. Then you can decide how to improve. And as always learn from other peoples success and failures.

The team digs into the LE Modernization Training session, from beginning to end, the good, and the ugly. Areas of improvement as well as areas of greatness. This was a solid training session that honed in on specific skills sets as the primary focus of this month. Tripod. Wind Calls. Barricade. Fundamentals. And a great conversation about movers and how to engage them. Are you making these same training errors as an individual or LE Sniper?

With Tyler back stateside after a stint overseas, he wasted no time getting busy with range tasks, training and practice, and getting his ass to the Competition Dynamics Steal Safari. This weekend, he will join the team to see if we can bring home another victory! The dudes talk copycats, one that wants to be but isnt. Gear that works but has flaws so the need to understand those flaws are critical. Training prep for the comp. Mental game. Its all here. You just have to listen. This week the guys talking moving targets. Whether you're military, LE, or a hunter assuming you're good to go because you have a cheat sheet for movers is a nice lie you've been telling yourself. Simplification. Knowing how it works and what you're calculating. Understanding movements and not MPH. A real hunter, Sniper, will not need a cheat sheet because they're training has lifted them to a level of understanding and enhanced capability. The two also discuss holding from center versus holding from lead edge. One is right and simple, the other is complicated, difficult and should not be used if you're engaging a moving target with any worth. Long Formula. Short Formula. Its all here for this juicy episode that will have you learning as well as understanding WHY.

Another week! Another episode! This week Tyler & Jeph hit on Minutes of Angle versus Mil-Radian. After viewing a post and reading the comments, it was a discussion that needed to be had regarding the two Angular Units of Measure and the commons misconceptions and lack of understanding amongst most of the shooters. MRAD and Yards. MOA and Meters. Who cares! Math? What friggin math? Clearly some items need to be cleared up. Then quickly somehow Tyler ropes Jeph into discussing digital coins and investments before talking about realistic training. Been hit in the face lately? You may want to consider this as well as the training youre signing up for when it comes to ArCon aka non compliant subjects. Some courses leave you with that superman feeling and it would suck to have to Eff around and find out in the real world.

This week Tyler & Jeph discuss the current URBAN SNIPER course Tyler is instructing for USMC Snipers. The recent qualification they just went through, how Tyler performed, to include wagers or friendly patch trading bets to motivate the Marines to try harder, focus deeper. During the qualifications, the stress levels are high, so the duo digs in to why, why so high, why do some people love the pressure, while others crumble? Which leads us to "Victory loves Preparation"! The more prepared you are, the easier it is to perform or shrug off small mistakes in lieu of the bigger picture and goal.

Tyler goes into a deep discussion regarding unsupported shooting positions. The fundamentals behind it and breaking down a social media video. Bone Support. Muscle Relaxation. Natural Point of Aim. They're as old as time and still the foundation behind all shooting positions, supported and unsupported. The tail end of this episode talks about the WHY. Why does this happen. Why are you doing this. What happens when this fails. Etc Etc Etc. If you want to become a better rifleman. Raise your ceiling. You need to understand the delicate intricacies behind precision rifleman.

After a long week, we're back! Digging into methods and routines of practicing. Be it at home or at the range, DO YOU HAVE A METHOD TO YOUR MADNESS? or do you just practice everything with very little gain? Tyler and Jeph hit on this for roughly half the episode comparing training methods to old and new weight lifting methods. Then the big secret, the information no one knows and were sharing! Making easy simple effective corrections. We all miss. When you do, making a correction is critical and necessary. Great episode. ENJOY!

A quickie that went longer than expected! Tyler explains to Jeph a drill he had students run last week. 19 Targets. 25 rounds. 5 Minutes. Must hit to move on to next target. Asking how Jeph would attack this problem. How the students did. What was the method that lead to the greatest success in the shortest time. How does this apply to your world? Hunting. Military. LE. Comp. It relates. Efficiency. Speed. Do you need to memorize all targets and DOPE or is there another way? Your mind is your greatest weapon, use it to simplify problems. You must have to see the big picture. Great episode. Great session for learning. Hope y'all enjoy!

Its basic matrix theory. Go fast but dont go fast! Not sure is thats even a thing but it sounded good. Today! It is Jeph's birthday so the dynamic duo sit down to discuss training plans for this weekend. The Get Moving target and how it can help you progress your speed! So often shooters want to go fast but dont understand they dont need to shoot faster. But movement. Efficiency. is the key. Enjoy this episode and let us know how the drill went for you.

Our weekly "Week in review" episode with an emphasis on "What is a professional?". Tyler is solo again so in the absence of Jeph, He rolls through what is currently happening with the Marine Sniper Urban Course he is instructing, things he noticing. Standards need to be met. Who better to set the bar? To top it off, Tyler discusses a video from Social Media where he is breaking down the positions, and asking "Why?", why did he do that? Why would you do that? is there a purpose? Is it a bad habit? These are questions you will need to answer for yourself if you want to improve. Great start to the week! Enjoy!

Another beautiful Friday to deliver this weekends Training Tips and Goals podcast. No Jeph today, but Tyler came through to deliver a great episode. The focus being aiming with your body. Its easy to get flustered, stresses, agitated, and start to muscle the weapon system. Through mindful repetition and goal driven drills, you can eliminate some of these mistakes. Tyler adds a video talking about Natural Point of Aim as well as some photos for understanding the target and how to utilize your position.

Working out the new weekly pod format, this is our "Social Media Week in Review!" The good, the bad, the ugly, from the deep pits of the interwebs. Its a dangerous job but someone has to do it. Sharing with you things we find that need to be brought to light for the purpose of learning of course. This episode is packed with "Dont do this at the gym", A standing Tripod Clip of "Could this be better" which also led Tyler & Jeph to a new standard, and finally a video on Carbine to Pistol transitions to "Go to Work". Great episode. Little longer than planned but we will work on it. Enjoy!

Tyler comes out of left field with pics and descriptive critiques to share about the past two days of training the instructor staff went through as a sustainment event. Not only a great time for learning and trying out new techniques but a great time to grab photos that will allow us to critique and fix mistakes, use for classes, what not to do, etc. Lots of talk regarding the Principles of Supported Positions and where they should have been applied for each shooter. Valuable episode for all who seek to improve through the lessons of others.

Two episodes in one week! and its not even a special occasion. Tyler hits Jeph with a "How skilled and prepared are you?" Power grid goes down. No power in the near future. Can you survive? Would your neighbors? Are you a target? Huntin. Fishin. Navingatin. Food Procurement. Survival. Interesting answers. Then the crew follows up with some awesome footage of the Hogsaddle tripod mounted rifle clamp versus an ARCA direct mount. The results are as we preach but now you can see it for yourself.

KP Robinson in the house! A student of our and now the lead instructor for 88 Tactical out of Nebraska for both civilian and LE Sniper courses. From before our class, to after, KP has alot to say. His opinions are aligned very close to ours and heres a secret, this was all off the cuff! No outline. No preplan. He had no idea what the episode would be about or what we would even ask him. Such a great time. Good people. From training, to instructors, to vetting the people you rely on for information. We're bringing the house!

The statement "Vette the instructors" if said often by so many people with the message of make sure youre training with someone who is legitimate. The question is, how do you filter through all the bullshit. Sure, experienced shooters, possibly, kind of sort of know who may be good and who should retire and pretend they never attempted to be somebody they arent. But new shooters, they dont know. They have no clue. Google searches pull up 40,000+ search results and typically if youre a business or an instructor who sank all his money into a website and marketing, you will win a majority of students over. They wont know until years down the road of how good or how bad you actually were. So the saga continues, how do we really vette people we are seeking training from? Do they need cool scope camera videos hitting a man size target at an unspecified distance to woo you? Its a very murky world and were trying to shine some light into the mud. Tyler and Jeph breakout a few videos as examples of what you may run into as well a a homework assignment to a non-affiliated non-firearms professional or even firearms owner who did her research, and came back with even more questions. Crazy. Such a great show. Thank you all for the support! Enjoy!

This fine Tuesday, Tyler and Jeph bring on Andy Slade from Riflemanspath.com to discuss some of our critiques on videos from previous podcasts, clear the air, and see where our training & teaching methodologies converge or split! The rest of the episode is a shot from the hip, the dudes break down a carbine pistol video, talk about our new Sniper Golf FREE DOWNLOAD TARGETS.

Episode 8! A fabulous tuesday episode getting released a day late but better late than never. Tyler and Jeph zero their focus on more Fundamental of Marksmanship principles. Moving away from the foundational stuff hitting the fine details of breathing, trigger press, non firing hand usage, and MORE! The dudes discuss the optical arena as well with things like eye relief, how your position effects that. Sight alignment and sight picture, yep its all there. On top of all that for this spicy 2 hour episode, covering down a video breakdown of a professional shooter running a competitive stage. Time got away from the boys because it was just so damn good to get all this out on the air waves and interwebs.

ep7•s5 On this fine end of the week episode, Tyler picks Jeph's brain about coyote hunting, a passion of Jeph for the past 20+ years. From day to night, Jeph hunting prowess stops only when he's ready to call it. From caliber, to optics, rifles, lights, calls, you name it, Tyler and Jeph get deep into it. The dudes also discuss some recoil fails, and tips from "Pros" that dont seem so PRO. You be the judge. Thank you!

The dudes back at it again, this time talking their favorite free targets to utilize for training drills at 100 yards. It doesnt take a 1000yard range to get in some good training and marksmanship practice. Dedication. Outside the box thinking. And max effort. Included in this episode, things not to do, some current events around the country, and a great listener question from Brett. Enjoy and thank you for the support.

Todays episode focal point is a shooters Fundamental Foundation. Probably not unknown to you, Bone Support, Muscle Relaxation, Natural Point of Aim. No of course not, everyone talks about these right? but not everyone understands them. More often than not its regurgitated information passed on from another source who also didnt know shit other than whats been told to them. So here we are, breaking it down, one by one, every gritty dirty little detail. Tyler and Jeph also get into some hot products on the market, and of course, what kind of day would it be if we didnt have videos to comment on and show you "What not to do". Thanks for listening.
