Error Machine
The Error Machine Podcast is comprised of Dustin Thomas and Luke Roberts, two mid-30s nobodies who have been best friends since high school. Occasionally joined by friends Chris Cramer and Chris Schram, Dustin and Luke discuss the latest in video games and sometimes derail into talks about professional wrestling, old nu-metal bands from the early 2000s, and MST3K, among other things.
You read that title right, this is the final episode of the Error Machine Podcast, at least until we unretire like Ric Flair.
We've had a lot of fun doing this podcast over the last 6 years, and truly appreciate everyone who has ever taken the time to listen to it. The first 25 minutes or so is us discussing the decision to end the show, and the next four hours is some of our best and most favorite clips from throughout the years, as well as marathons of our Error Machine Describes and Is It A Switch Game segments.

Much like the Sega Channel retrospective, it's time for us to finally dedicate an entire episode to a game that seemingly comes up every episode: Resident Evil 4.
It's a game that is revered as one of the best of all time, and rates very highly with everyone at Error Machine. Merry Christmas everyone. Luke, Chris, and I certainly hope that all of you are enjoying your holidays. And what better way to celebrate than by sitting back and listening to the three of us recount some of our fondest memories of the cherished holiday.
We talk about some of our favorite presents from the past, the joys of seeing our families open their gifts, as well as our favorite Christmas movies. It's guaranteed to be the best half hour of your Christmas season.
It's a little later than normal, but what topic would be worth waiting for more than the PlayStation? We conclude our discussion of the classic system but talking about how it opened up the west to receive a ton of RPGs like Legend of Dragoon and Suikoden II, how Silent Hill brought a different type of survival horror to the table, the myriad fantastic franchises that began on the system, some of the hardware flaws, and a bunch of hidden gems.
But before we do that, we of course have to update you on Luke's Amiibo hunting, Chris singing the praises of Amazon, and Dustin talks about one of the most underrated and amazing moments ever in gaming: the first time you see Mario do a front flip with the star power-up.
We also discuss the new releases like Guilty Gear Xrd - SIGN -, and that's about it. We describe what the game Kalimba is, apparently it's a Jumanji type game where you play as pro wrestler Kamala. Sounds pretty awesome.

There was so much to talk about in this episode that we actually have to split the discussion topic into two episodes. It was the 20th anniversary of the original PlayStation, and we wind up talking for a good 45 minutes about the console without even scratching the surface.
We share some of our favorite memories and games, as well as going over a bit of the history of how the consoles came to be. We cover Final Fantasy VII/VIII/IX and Tactics, the Resident Evil Trilogy, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, and so many more. That discussion begins around the 50-minute mark. In case you haven't heard, the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. came out, and it's all Chris and Luke care to talk about. When Dustin is able to finally get them to talk about other things, they discuss topics and games like Infamous: Second Son, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Borderlands: The Pre Sequel.

With Christopher unable to record, and Dustin and Luke being short on time this week, they decided to try something new. It's not quite a minisode, but it's similar. Both of them have recently removed games from their backlog, with Dustin playing The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Luke playing The Last of Us. Luke, being a big advocate of A Link to the Past, interviews Dustin about his thoughts on the game, and Dustin likewise does the same for Luke for The Last of Us.
Maybe you guys missed it, but a fairly big game came out this week. That game is called Woah Dave! Just kidding (although that is real game that was released). We are, of course, talking about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. This week we use our topic discussion time to discuss the series. Is it overhyped? Is it losing its luster? What's our favorite in the series? We also discuss why it shouldn't be played by children. Also, Dustin discusses his experience working the GameStop midnight release for the game.

A show two weeks in a row? The stars must have aligned just right. Halloween is upon us, so the guys took it upon themselves to talk about games (and movies, and other things) that remind them of the candy obsessed holiday. There's talk of some survival horror games, and some cult classics like Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Alan Wake.
Dustin talks about his (somewhat) disappointment with Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, Luke's shop vac adventures, and Chris' record-SHATtering bathroom escapades. They also tackle some new releases, talk about the Xbox One price drop, and discuss the finished version of the Nintendo Amiibos. And in our new segment, Luke tries to describe the game Lords of the Fallen with no prior knowledge of the game.
Also, Rob Zombie should stop making movies.
No clever titles this week, just the regular rundown of stories, games, new releases, and news. In this episode Dustin laments on the loss of his best friend, the guys discuss some Smash Bros. and Mario Kart related news, they talk about the dude that randomly found a $30,000 Magic card, and Luke inadvertently invents what may become a new segment where he takes a new release and describes what it's about with no knowledge of the game itself. After the break, the guys come back and do a retrospective on the Castlevania series.

Chris can't make it again this week, but for good reason...he and his lovely wife finally had their baby (don't be fooled, Alex did most of the work)! Things will be much different for Christopher Craig Cramer in the coming years, so Luke and Dustin took it upon themselves to discuss the differences they've noticed in their gaming habits from childhood into adulthood. They talk about things like, duh, gaming with children, finding time to game while having adult responsibilities like going to work and having money but no time, and vice versa.
For the second week in a row, Chris is unable to join the gang (who does he think he is? An expecting father?). So it's up to Luke and Dustin to bring you your weekly allotted allowance of awesome gaming discussion. The Game of the Week for both men is Shovel Knight, and they discuss it at great length, needless to say, they both adore it. And since Shovel Knight is a downloadable title, this week's topic discussion is a top 5 list from both men on their favorite downloadable titles.
They also cover new releases, the Summer Games Done Quick event, how stupid the new EA-themed PS4 looks, John Cena being on the cover of WWE 2K15, summer camps, minor league baseball, and Jamaica. They also throw in a little bit of 80s action movie quotes.

With the recent announcement of The Last of Us movie, the guys discuss other game-to-movie adaptations. They tackle such cinema classics as Double Dragon, Super Mario Bros., Doom, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and many others. Games discussed this week include Mega Man 2, Walking Dead: A House Divided, and Gears of War Judgment
The boys are back after an unexpected week off to try out their new format, including the new "Game of the Week" section, where they discuss the likes of Metro: Last Light, Shin Megami Tensai IV, and Gears of War Judgment, before sending some birthday love to the 3DS and Playstation Vita.
In the midst of the Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes controversy over the length of the game, the guys use the middle segment to discuss game length vs. game price and if your experience should be affected by the two. Current games discussed include TxK, Double Dragon Neon, Sly 4 Thieves in Time, and, for some reason, Spongebob: Truth or Square. Also, Luke forgets how to speak words good.
In the follow up to last weeks episode, the boys continue their discussion about their adventures in collecting. Topics this week include our most expensive pieces, our favorite pieces, digital collections, Luke explains why he was forced to get out of the collecting game, and we get a special guest appearance from professional wrestler Scott Steiner.

This week the guys share their personal adventures in the world of video game collecting. They discuss things like why they started collecting, as well as what types of games they collect, their prized possessions, and how they feel about the conditions of their games.
