Paolo Bardelli started working as a dj since 1982 and has actually worked in some of the best italian and world clubs over that period also he is a resident dj for the HALFMOON FESTIVAL at Koh Panghan Thailand 6 Years now.Outside of the club scene he is the protagonist od DISCO PARTY a radio program on RADIO MILANO INTERNATIONAL FM-DAB-STREAMING and he is a producer.He is ecletic in it’s music choice even if it prefers Techno house Funk Sounds.One of his most successful productions was NAMBY PAMBY whose the single”GIRLZ” was broadcast in the USA By TRIBAL AMERICA (and which was Number “ in the USA Billboard charts in the first week of release and above all DANNY TENAGLIA’s big number.Also the single CLUB RULES was a huge success in FRANCE.As well he is treating the B CLUB MILANO recordings of genre HOUSE FUNK DISCO and DISCOLORED DEEP TECHNO STYLE.He is pèroducing for other important labels as CUBE RECORDINGS, SAMUI RECORDINGS and KLAPHOUSE RECORDS.

This shows guest mix is from George Cynnamon is a producer, remixer and DJ from Belgium. At a very young age little “Georgie” discovered the disco collection of his father and already knew that music would become a big factor in his life. It was no surprise that Young George spent all his allowance on records. While becoming a regular customer in the local recordstore, George got acquainted with a famous DJ who taught him the basics of DJ-ing, so he was be able to expand his knowledge.
In the late 90’s his dream came true. He started to play in local pubs and parties
Shortly after he moved his boundaries to bigger and more famous clubs (Reflex, Highstreet, BBC, Area 51). After a few years of entertaining the crowd, he still felt a desire to let the party people dance to his own music. Therefore he used the helping hand from famous producer Maurice Engelen who taught him the basic elements of creating beats and tunes. His style is more clubby, feel-good house music with some disco and funk influences. His musical hero’s are: Daft Punk, Justice, Cassius, Breakbot, Basement Jaxx, Miami horror,George Duke, Cerrone, Change

Bio
Fray was originally from the Midlands where he cut his teeth blagging sets with the free party scene in the early 90's. He lived in Brixton, South London where he was resident DJ at Brixtons legendary Dogstar for 10 years and has been lucky enough to DJ along side the likes of Swayzak, Inland knights, Bent, DiY, Neon Heights.

His musical policy has changed with his age and he now plays less deep house and more funk, soul, disco, hip-hop and funky breaks.

Fray is currently a resident DJ with Brightons infamous Soul Casserole crew. We have supported the likes of Norman Jay, Craig Charles, Don Letts, Giles Peterson and The Reflex and also have a show on Brightons 1BTN FM.

As a producer he has had many releases that have reached the top of Juno Disco charts on labels such as Katakana, Alpaca Edits, Hot Digits and Masterworks Music with upcoming on Hot Gorilla records and others.

The Guest Mix is from Mike Woods:
Mike started dj-ing back in 1989 after being a regular at the legendary Hacienda club especially Park and Pickering's Friday Nude night. After meeting another Hacienda DJ Steve Williams who also had a couple of sidekicks called Laurent Garnier and Sasha (I'm not sure what happened to those two though) it was Steve who introduced Mike to Eastern Bloc records and that's where all those elusive records were coming into Manchester from as you couldn't get this new Music from just anywhere. Mike soon started to pick up his own collection of records and as he was the only one with these records he was asked to DJ local parties in his home town of Warrington. It was around 89 that the Thunderdome opened in Manchester and Mike got to play a few Thursday nights and also later that year got to play some local clubs in Warrington, the next logical progression was to get a Saturday night and that came in the shape of a club called Legends in Warrington, this started in 1990 and ran through till 93, (see Youtube video's for some memorable footage)it still stands out to today as quite a unique Music policy as it started around 90 bpm with a balearic vibe and slowly built up to anything form deep house to Techno and even the odd disco track.

It was also around 1990 that Mike produced his first record Flashback - You which still sells for a good money on discogs, it was a white label that was pressed up by himself.

The next record produced was under the name bbr streetgang, which was signed to Scottish label Hubba Hubba, and followed up with the United House E.P. which was a reflection of the Music policy at Legends, with a disco sampled house feel and also a couple of downtempo tracks.

BBR streetgang went on to sign to Transworld records which was a subsidiary of Dead Dead Good records of course home to The Charlatans, bbr's biggest hit followed in the shape of Feel the Music which was on some of the big compilation CD's of the time and was a disco infused track which was played live in the studio and still sounds great today.

Mike eventually left Legends in 93 and was looking for something new and found that in the shape of the World club, again in Warrington and this is where Mike's love of the disco sample was played out on his own productions in the studio with tracks like Disco Groove, also remixed by New Yorks production team Roc & Kato, and in his sets with new Music coming from the like's of DJ Sneak and G.U. and his love for the American sound.

Mike eventually had a family and settled down in Melbourne Australia but after ten years decided to make the move back to U.K. in 2016 and also started to produce new material under his own name, release's for Masterworks, Reptile Dysfunction and All My Friends to name a few.

About PHONK D
Phonk D, DJ & Producer from Darmstadt, Germany
Founder of Footjob & Dedicate

To understand Phonk D’s musical universe, you have to take a journey back in time for some years. After distributing his first genre-crossing mixtapes in the schoolyard, he was drawn to electronic music in the 90s. Night after night the Darmstadt resident observed the DJs at Frankfurt's legendary clubs Dorian Gray and Omen spending all his money on records. Thus, his DJ-career and enthusiasm for House and Techno kicked off with his first gig in 1997.
Aside from DJing, he started to organise his own parties and worked at a local record store. The deeper his interest in DJ-techniques grew, the more he developed a passion for Hip Hop. For the next couple of years the electronic music took a backseat. Instead, Phonk D expanded his personal collection with disco- and funk-records and sold his own mixtapes in the Rhein-Main-area as well as establishing the producer-collective Kollege Schnürschnuh together with his musical partner Iron. In due course, they took credit for several albums and EPs for rappers like Mädness and Döll and Phonk D supported various artists at concerts and festivals as a backing DJ.
While Phonk D enjoys expanding his musical tastes, an old flame never dies and after a long-lasting period in urban music, he went back to his roots, falling in love with electronic music again. He founded his own label footjob, which he has been running since 2014 and releases tunes of other artists besides his own productions.
The sound of footjob is somewhere between deep, disco and classic house without being too attached to a genre and finds the approval of well-known scene-heads. Following various releases on Footjob, Phonk D also appears on labels like Salsoul, Glitterbox, Nite Grooves, NDYD, Poetry in Motion etc. With his event series „Diggin’ In The Crates“ at the Darmstadt-based Weststadtcafé he follows his passion for pushing tunes appealing to him since he took his first steps into the world of music.

Our Guest is Javi Frias JAVI FRIAS (NIGHT SHIFT / DISCOTIZER) Javi Frias is a DJ and producer from Madrid. He began collecting and playing soul, funk, disco, boogie and house at the end of the nineties in his hometown, and since then he has not stopped travelling to share his music through many venues, clubs and festivals worldwide. In the past few years, he has begun to make noise at international level thanks to his edits and reworks, published a handful of EPs and singles on labels like Street Edits, Giant Cuts, Disco Pocho, Midnight Riot, Boogie Café or Bons Records. His music is played and charted by top DJs such as Danny Krivit, Detroit Swindle, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel, Get Down Edits, Frank Booker... In 2017 he started his own label Night Shift Records, devoted to edits and reworks of disco and house, where he has released in vinyl and digital his own productions and occasionally the work of other fellow producers. He's also part of the mysterious Disco Pocho label, focused on the soul and funk side of the disco edit, where he has already released a couple of 7". Javi is also a passionate record collector and selector, he really enjoys playing different types of styles and tempos during his sets, from newies to classics, covering a wide assortment of sounds ranging from the rare and obscure to the most well know, always betting to discover new sensations to his audience but keeping the dancefloor on fire! Austria based DJ & producer Munky Fike has steadily been establishing himself and making his name in the Disco House scene. Especially in 2019 he has drawn a lot of attention with his productions and was included in the “Top 100 Nu Disco Artists of 2019” list later that year (Ranking 62). Munky Fike was able to release on well known labels such as Tropical Disco Records, Discoweey (Hotmood), Villes et Fleurs and Pogo House Records. His music was supported by DJ’s and household names like Hotmood, Hurlee, Natscha Kitty Kat, Miguel Migs and Jeremy Sylvester to name just a few. Munky Fike already left mark and footprint inside the Urban Dance scene with his name around the globe. With more than 20 years in the game he is considered a pioneer of the Hip Hop scene coming out of the Lake of Constance (Vorarlberg). As a full hearted and hard working Hip Hop head his schedule consists of leading one of the best known and well dance academies in Europe, traveling, giving workshops and lessons, training, producing, deejaying on events and parties, sharing and learning the more about the culture and different artforms. Bosq is a producer & DJ who's sound is rooted in Disco & Funk heavily influenced by classic Afro-Latin music. Boston bred, he now resides in Medellín. Has released 4 full albums and many EP's of original music on Ubiquity, Fania, Soul Clap Records & more.

Benjamin Woods, creating under the name Bosq, has been tirelessly exploring the intersections of Afro-Latin music with Disco, Funk, Reggae, House and Hip Hop for years. Since the release of his first album of entirely original music, bosq y orquesta de madera (2013, Ubiquity Records) he has only increased the pace. The result has been 3 more full length albums: Celestial Strut (2015, Ubiquity Records), Love & Resistance (2018, Ubiquity Records), Bosq y La Candela All-Stars - San Jose 51 (2016, Candela / Fania Records) recorded entirely in Puerto Rico, and an EP for Soul Clap Records entitled Tumblalá (2015).

Bosq first gained notoriety as one half of the Whiskey Barons, churning out a continuous stream of edits and remixes, as well as being the sole producer on the now highly sought after, out of print Whiskey Barons x Bastard Jazz releases (Tumbao EP & Enferma Nocturna). His unofficial mixes led to a slew of official remix work for heavy hitters like Fania Records, Orchestre Poly Rhythmo de Cotonou, Poolside, Nickodemus, and many more. Fellow Boston native Kon tapped Bosq to handle the technical end of the production for all of the “Kon & The Gang” releases, and many of the now famed multi-track edits (including the Hooked on You and Feel Reel 12”s on basic fingers). The collaborations led to a release by the two under the name “Nitetime” on the prestigious AU imprint Future Classic.

Dance floors and critics have both responded well to the incredibly consistent output of music. Beatswapmeet commented on the first album, “it’s a beautiful mixture of afro beats, latin rhythms, soulful house, disco, with subtle dancehall and hip hop influences”. The acclaim has continued with Mixmag rating the lead single off his fourth album “Can’t Seem to Hide” a perfect 10/10 and granting it “Tune of the Month”. His latest endeavor sees Bosq producing gospel & jazz infused disco & house alongside “The Rapture” co-founder and drummer Vito Roccoforte as “Body Music”.

Gigs have taken Bosq across North & South America, Europe, and Asia, to clubs and festivals like Rakastella (Miami), OYA (Oslo) and countless others. He has shared stages with the likes of Joe Claussel, Bobbito, J Rocc & Tony Touch to name a few. Shaka Loves You

Glasgow duo 'Shaka Loves You' boast a truly unique show. Effortlessly fusing elements of funk, soul, disco, hip-hop & more with turntable trickery, tight live percussion and custom visuals. ‘SLY' create the perfect house party vibe wherever they play.
Since forming in 2012, Jamie & Marty have already supported heavyweights players such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, The Jacksons, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Chali 2na of Jurassic 5, Craig Charles, Joey Negro, Mr Scruff & The Reflex.
As well as hometown residencies, the boys have packed out clubs from Athens to Amsterdam with regular festival appearances up & down the UK. Add Canadian, New Zealand & European tours to this and you get a picture of how in demand the ‘SLY' boys are!
Complementing their live show, ‘SLY' also release their own material with equal acclaim. Their tracks gain regular support from BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music & one of them; 'Soul on Fire', attracted the attention of Mixmag, which gave it a sterling 8/10 review.
2018 saw SLY team up with record label Bombstrikes and round off the year with a new EP, featuring a slew of collaborating artists including the legendary rapper, 'Soup' from Jurassic 5. 2019 also got off to a flying start with 'Disco-Funkin', a compilation album curated by 'SLY' picking up national radio support and hitting both the No. 1 album spot on Beatport & Juno.
Not content with all that, the boys decided to expand their live show to include vocalists & a sax player & now regularly play with the 'SLY live band'. This year is shaping up to be the boys' busiest to date. With a TV appearance on The Gadget Show airing in the Spring and a packed gig diary, watch out for another big one from Shaka Loves You!

two labels: Springbok Records and Plaizir Muzic. Producer but also deejay, it is in the years 2000, that
Stephane, begins to mix in club, he will be resident during 4 years, in the funk room, of a big club of his
city, in parallel, Stéphane buys material of music, his first synthesizer a Korg M1, will allow him to learn

Since 1987 he's been working on club and radio conducting and producing several programs of club music, finally as Art Director and Senior Manager in labels coordination. In 2000 he produced his first remix for Soul Providers (Rise, Soul Heaven) and then he starts remixing and producing lots of records for: Who Da Funk "Shiny Disco Ball", Johnny Dangerous "Beat That Bitch", Da Lukas Vs Maetrik/Maceo Plex "Didascalia" Joey Negro Aka Jakatta "Ever So lonely" Z Rec-Oxyd, DJ Linus (Get Physical), John Acquaviva, Gramophonedzie, Jose Nunez, Cari Golden.
As well as releasing for a wide range of club labels including Snatch!, Ministry Of Sound, Milk & Sugar, Pacha, Hed Kandi, Rebirth, King Street , Purple Music, Cut rec, Raid/Strictly Rhythm, Urban Torque, Sud Beat, Gruuv, Rise, EGO, Hot Fingers (with Federico Scavo and Daniele Tignino). He co-produced new records with Psycho Radio (Daniele Tignino, Da Lukas. LC Anderson), highly appreciated by Dj’s, Clubs, and dj's chart.
Recently he co-produced as “DKS” his latest two single together with Ashley Slater (Freak Power - Fatboy Slim).

Simon Kennedy Biography

Under both Simon Kennedy and his Dubplate Disco guise, Simon has been making huge waves in the Nu-Disco scene Simon Kennedy has been a dj since for over 3 decades, being an passionate & avid record collector even earlier since 1981. Starting off in South London, he was hooked on by his older sisters love of soul, funk & disco. She experienced the soul funk & disco all-dayer scene 1st hand, giving Simon a good grounding in this music from an early age. So the Disco edits scene has felt very natural to him, as he has always played and loved this music.

He started playing parties & clubs in and around south London at the time when house music was first coming into being.

Simon was flooded with guest slots at events around the country, and was heavily involved in the eighties early pirate radio scene long before the internet, pirate played an key part in establishing dance history

More recently he has been resident at loads tropical disco events at numerous places in London, and is a prolific producer with a huge following on Traxsource.

Ed is a DJ and producer with a strong house music background stretching back to the early 90s.
As Cowbell Radio & Alfresco Festival co-founder/resident he is equally at home playing acid house chuggers, straight up house, disco edits or Balearic beats, he is a Festival regular and an in-demand guest mixer.
Having just returned from some winter gigs in Tenerife, Ed will be playing at the forthcoming Alfresco parties, his various North west residencies, the UK Festival circuit and Ibiza later this year!
Production-wise 2019 will see his own recordings and remixes released on labels such as Tici Taci, NEIN, Emerald & Doreen and $hit Disco, to add to his recent releases on Hot Digits, Paper, Field of Dreams and Eclectics.

Lennys Bio
Lenny Fontana a true New Yorker learned his craft from Radio personality DJ Frankie Crocker, the program director of WBLS 107.5 In NYC. Inspired by DJ Larry Levan, Fontana went on to play at Studio 54 in the late 80’s and other NYC Clubs. Through the 1990's he travelled the world and played at many famous nightclubs globally.
In 1991 he was the first US DJ to play at Pacha Ibiza and in Dubai.
In 1992 Lenny had his first successful production with Butch Quick’s "Higher" (Strictly Rhythm). In 1999 he had his first crossover hit record, "What You Need" (Defected Records/Ministry Of Sound) with under the name Powerhouse Feat. Duane Harden. This was a Top 10 hit in the UK and was performed on the famous TV show Top of the Pops and the Pepsi Chart Show. In 2000 Lenny recorded his hit, "Chocolate Sensation" (FFRR/Warner). Both singles crossed over from the House charts to the Pop charts with the videos on heavy rotation on MTV worldwide. In 2005 Lenny Fontana pres. Octah'via
(of C+C Music Factory) "The Way"(Defected Records), which became a dance club hit. After some soul searching, Fontana founded Karmic Power Records in 2013.

In 2015 Lenny Fontana & D-Train "Raise Your Hands" (Karmic Power Records) was a huge success as WMC Miami. Including remixes by David Morales and others, it received support from Louie Vega, Tony Humphries and many other DJ's worldwide. At the end of 2015 the record hit the #3 position in The Music Week Club Chart UK, and #14 in the End of the Year Chart. Lenny also produced a successful single for Meli'sa Morgan, "So Good"(Fresh Entertainment/RFC Rec).
In 2016 and 2017, D-Train’s follow-up single "When You Feel What Love Has" (Karmic Power Records) received worldwide attention and hit the #4 position on Music Week Club Chart UK. With over 650 spins a week on daytime radio rotation in the USA, the song hit the #31 position on the Nielsen Billboard Indicator Radio Chart (USA) and
the huge urban station WBLS 107.5 FM, Sirius XM Venus, Music Choice and many other FM stations added it to their daytime rotation. Currently, Lenny has had a release with the famous UK Artist Alison Limerick called Bye Bye (Karmic Power Records) with Phats & Smalls Remixes. In 2018 recently he has touched his productions skills into creating a full pure disco record called “FIRE" with the lead vocalist
Shirley Lites from Westend Records / Atlantic Records. This has been well received and played all over Ibiza and all Glitterbox parties making it tune of the month in Mixmag Disco column. It will now be released on Midnight Riot Records with a new package. Lenny is working with Hitmaker Vocalist Chris Willis on a collaboration called “Top Of the World” which should hit by fall of 2018. Lenny has returned to his Disco Roots producing some serious tracks for the UK and Europe watch for this.

Lenny has a weekly syndicated radio show called "The Karmic Power Records Radio Show” which is broadcasted around the world on stations such as Kiss Fm (Au), Radio Italia Network, Funky SX, Select Radio, Ibiza Live Radio, and more. He is also in the middle of producing a series of radio shows called “History of House” which also will be announced soon. So there is a lot in the works coming from Mr. Lenny Fontana.

Dave Leatherman aka René van der Weijde is a music producer / DJ with his roots in the early 90's. He was partly responsible for the success on the early 90's stealth label (Rotterdam) with releases like TFX (Deep Inside Of Me), Trancemission (Keep this Party Slammin') Techno Grooves and Space Trax (Bounce). Later on he joined the Pegasus label and together with Lex van Coeverden he produced the 90's hit Atlantic Ocean - Waterfall which was a huge success in many countries. In 2010 he picked up on producing and DJ ing again. Currently producing tracks on the Ibiza based Golden Key label, which also brings him to Club Lio - Ibiza for gigs in the summer season.

Dutch producer Vincent Kriek, aka HP Vince. Producing disco & housemusic as HP Vince, started in the nineties both solo and with JAMEZ on TOUCHE Records as P.I.M.P. , and with LAIDBACK LUKE on Groove Alert as Dubbing Double. Also several productions came out on Tiesto's Blackhole (including a Tiesto remix), Bonzai Belgium (including coproductions with Airwave and Yves Deruyter), United-NL, Twisted USA, Basic Beat-NL and Future Groove-UK. Guest Mix By Pontchartrain
n 2014 after nearly a decade of collecting records, and playing various roles in the dance music scene of Detroit and West Michigan, the Pontchartrain moniker was born. What began as tools for his own personal dancefloor use turned into head-turning release after release of his vision for edits of forgotten classics and sample-heavy house cuts. In a short couple of years, his release catalog has gained support from various well respected artists, garnered him international bookings and acclaim, and earned him the A&R position for Sleazy McQueen’s highly sought after Whiskey Disco imprint. The sounds he chooses, reflect the obvious influences from Detroit’s past, with a new face and ideology that continues to entertain and surprise.

In his own words “A lot of people have forgotten what it means to be a DJ and what the greatest part of that job is. I want to feel like I’m stepping into a house party every time I screw in my needles. I want people in the room to feel the same. I want them to be happy, to feel relaxed, to feel at home. I want them to feel like everything is ok in that moment. A DJ essentially should make you feel high with your friends. A DJ is basically a drug.”

His releases span BPM, genre, and style in a way that encompass this feeling, and have been featured and charted by a slew of serious industry names. Several releases have already been repressed, and his edits and originals have been featured by several prominent music blogs: The initial EP on new label Lovedancing, was described as “Setting the bar very high indeed” by the UK’s largest record distributor, Juno. And his most recent release on Whiskey Disco was described as having “dynamic arrangement missing from so many contemporary edits” by the curators at Piccadilly Records.

His track selection, DJ style, and music ideology all stem from years of mentoring from some of Detroit’s greatest, and from the passion and want to learn everything he could from them. Buying and selling record collections to earn his rent through college highlights how important crate digging and sourcing has been, and still is to him, and lends an idea of just what to expect during his sets. Pontchartrain is redefining the never ending love affair of classic music with taste, vision, and a dedication that continues to set him apart.

North-West England, UK DJ Derek Kaye married his schoolboy passions of music and electronics in 1973 when he constructed his first disco sound system, aged just 13.

Prior to this, with DJ equipment something of a rarity in those days, he created a custom setup that bypassed the need for a mixer by rewiring his turntables in such a way that he could flip the sound from one deck to another, and installed a switch that would dip the music so a microphone from a portable cassette player could be used to announce the song on rotation.
His work soon grew in sophistication and a new console was built, with his schoolmate, Greg Wilson, buying Derek’s old rig, thus beginning his own well-documented DJ career.

Over the past 40 years, Derek has continued to DJ in and around the North West, both in residencies and guest spots, and his passion for music and electronics are still just as strong. His enviable studio has gone through the transitions of working with notator (the forerunner to logic) on the studio essential Atari 1040 ste with a collection of keyboards and Akai samplers, to just about “working out of the box” as is the case with a lot of studios now.

Tomas Malo is a British Disco / House producer and DJ, originally from Leeds, now based in Mexico City. He first rose to prominence back in 2006 with releases on labels Redux and 20:20 Vision under the guise 'Weirdo Police' and since then has gone on to release various choice vinyl EPs with the likes of Whiskey Disco, The Dead Rose Music Company's Taikomochi Records, and Outernational, plus numerous digital releases through Masterworks, Hot Digits, Editorial, CR2, Xland, and many others. He has had the honour of his music being selected for coveted CD compilations by legends Greg Wilson and DJ Harvey and was included on MTV's Top 15 reasons why Mexico is the next dance music Mecca.

His next two releases will be out soon on Boutade Musique and Phisica Records.

A godfather of global dance music, Louie Vega has painted an award-winning career from a palette mixed with everything from salsa and afro-beat, to jazz, hip-hop and soul.
A godfather of global dance music, Louie Vega has painted an award-winning career from a palette mixed with everything from salsa and afro-beat, to jazz, hip-hop and soul. What distinguishes the Grammy winner and 4-time nominee as one of the best living house music deejays is his ability to evolve alongside the times, distill the current musical landscape through his unique taste and put his own timeless spin on it. “Little” Louie Vega, as he is sometimes affectionately known, was born in the Bronx into a musically gifted family (his father, a jazz saxophonist, and his uncle, Salsa King Héctor Lavoe). The “Little” moniker is ironic, given the fact that by the 80s he was deejaying at clubs he wasn’t even old enough to attend, holding residencies at Studio 54, Devil’s Nest, Hearthrob, Roseland, and the Palladium. Soon Vega was producing his own remixes, which included Information Society’s “Running”, Noel’s “Silent Morning” and Debbie Gibson’s “Only in my Dreams”. Then in 1991 he joined Atlantic Records—and hit the mainstream. Teaming with an-up-and-coming Marc Anthony, he helped to produce “Ride on the Rhythm”. An immediate hit, the single put Vega and Anthony on the map. The duo would rock the club circuit, with their success culminating when they opened for Tito Puente at his 100 Album concert at Madison Square Garden.
One of the keys to Vega’s success is his knack for refusing to being boxed into any one category, not only reflected in the various music styles his songs play with, but by his fruitful collaborations with other artists. And so more success came in 1991 from the production team he created with Brooklyn-based deejay Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez. Masters at Work, as they were called, were responsible for the critically acclaimed albums “Nuyorican Soul” and “Masters At Work – Our Time is Coming”. Not to mention the duo found the time to remix and or produce for Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Madonna, Jamiroquai, Tito Puente, India, Janet Jackson, Tania Maria, George Benson, Black Eyed Peas, Jocelyn Brown, Los Amigos Invisibles, Bebe Winans, and Earth Wind & Fire.
Vega has always been hungry for a challenge, and the aughts saw him move into new roles that expanded on his artistry; first up, that of record label owner. Featuring a roster that included Anané Vega, Luisito Quintero, Elements Of Life (his live band), Mr. V, Boddhi Satva, Hugh Masekela, Roberto Roena, Lisa Fischer, and Cindy Mizelle, Vega Records has released over 130 singles and 9 Full Length CD / Albums. In addition, Louie Vega has released over 25 compilations (with over 2 million cds sold) on the industry’s most revered imprints, including Ministry of Sound Recordings, Defected Records, Kingstreet, Azuli, Division (Italy), Concept, & Strictly Rhythm records.
In his other venture he joined with world-renowned NYC-based jewelry designer Kenny Hwang to create a signature line of hats, jewelry, t-shirts, and additional memorabilia. As these businesses flourished, so did Vega’s music, and in 2006 he received a Grammy Award for his remix of Curtis Mayfield’s “Superfly” on Rhino Records. Then, not more than a year later, Cirque Du Soleil approached him and the house-music group Blaze to compose and produce a song for a once in a lifetime event. And so Anané Vega and Elements Of life performed the song “One Dream” to the acrobatics of Cirque Du Soleil during the 2007 Super Bowl Pre-Game Show to over 70,000 people at Dolphin Stadium in Florida and were seen by 145 million television viewers.
…Yet as we move through the twenty-tens, Louie shows no signs of slowing down…
The past four years since April 2010 have brought forth yet another outlet for Vega. Hosted by Vega and Kevin Hedge, the Roots NYC LIVE Radio Show airs on WBLS 107.5 (New York’s longest running R&B and soul radio station). Rated the #3 radio show in New York on Friday night, they air every Friday from 10PM – Midnight (stream live www.wbls.com). To keep the music flowing on all the continents, Vega can also be heard every Saturday from 5pm – 6pm over IBIZA SONICA on the Sunset Ritual Radio show with Anane Vega in Spain (www.ibizasonica.com), and every Saturday at 10pm via KAYA FM’s Dance Ritual with Louie Vega (www.kayafm.co.za) in Johannesburg, South Africa. Ever the music innovator, in 2013 Vega released Elements of Life – Eclipse on the legendary Fania records. The record, 4 ½ years in the making, keeps the style of Vega’s earlier albums (African, Jazz, Latin, World), but injects it with Soul, R&B, Gospel and Blues. Featured artists on the album include Anané Vega, Lisa Fischer, Cindy Mizelle, Ursula Rucker, Josh Milan, Luisito Quintero, Oveus Maximus and an all-star cast of musicians. The occasion was momentous not only because it was the first new artist album Fania had released in years. In Vega’s words, “…[It] really comes full circle now, being able to be on the label my uncle Héctor Lavoe was on and the Fania All Stars who are all great inspirations for me. Fania Records is to Latin music what Motown is to R&B and Soul, so to even be a small page in this encyclopedia of music is a dream come true for me.”
With all the good fortune he’s received, Vega finds it crucial to give back. During most of his free time he donates Vega Memorabilia to auctions, deejays at fundraisers and serves as a good will ambassador for the Christian Rivera Foundation. Currently, Vega and Anané are headlining their Sunset Ritual brand, an outdoor party held at prestigious beach clubs around the world and drenched in the sounds of House, Global Disco, Afro tech and Old School. Sunset Ritual has toured the Mediterranean every summer since 2010, including a two-year residency at the Blue Marlin beach club in Ibiza. Just this past year, from the 21st of June until the 20th of September 2013, the Sunset Ritual’s good vibes were back in Ibiza, this time at the famed Ushuaïa Hotel. This May 2014, Anané and Louie will release the first Sunset Ritual cd/dvd. Then in the summer Sunset Ritual will resume across beaches of Ibiza, Formentera, Italy, and Greece. In 2014, Masters At Work will reunite with a full blown project and Anthology on the House Masters Defected Release #21. Louie Vega & Kenny Dope will once again come together to create music and do what they do best, produce and make you dance!Breaking down musical barriers and bringing people together through a love of music has always been Vega’s aim; after more than 20 years in the game his contributions continue to positively influence the global house and world music.

Michael The Lion is the latest and greatest pseudonym of long-time Philadelphia DJ and producer DJ Apt One. Michael has been making waves recently with his original productions and edits for internationally renowned labels Soul Clap Records and Razor-N-Tape. Michael adapts the trademark sound he’s developed for over a decade – live instruments sitting seamlessly with sampled grooves to create organic, classic textures. The Lion sound is always funky, always strong and always ready for the floor.

Michael’s recently released a self-titled EP on Soul Clap Records which is available on 12-inch vinyl and digital formats.
