In this episode we have a couple Kerri & Tom come onto the podcast to share their journey of pregnancy & birth.

It was so beautiful to listen to them both and how they were very conscious of the decisions they made every step of the way from getting their mind and bodies ready to call in their daughter to the journey of pregnancy and how they supported each other.

Doing Hypnobirthing with Shari and how that helped them feel confident in the decisions they made to have a home birth and how now Kerri is supporting mums herself now through their journeys.

Kerry is a mindset coach, conscious parent educator, hypnosis, and NLP master practitioner and her mission is to support women and mamas to create sustainable connect with themselves and within their families.

This episode we interview new mama Monique. Monique is mama to beautiful baby boy who is 4 months old.

Through chatting with Monique we talk about her experience about early miscarriage and we too share our own experiences off loss and how different each experience is.

Monique shared that from the loss of her first baby which happened the week she was due to get married it then lead her to feel quite anxious about her second pregnancy and the potential to loose this baby so she felt that she wasn’t able to enjoy the pregnancy as much as what she wanted.

Monique shares how she gathered her ‘Positive Birth’ team and felt so supported by them all in the lead up to and also during her birth where they were with her every step of the way.

Through Hypnobirthing she was able to create a beautiful practice routine where she visualised her perfect birth and really prepared her mind and body through birth with the support of her team.

Her birth story had us on the edge of our seats because at one stage we through this story was leading to having her baby in the car…

We won’t spoil it for you though and highly recommend you listen to this AMAZING birth story.

We also shared that our next pregnancy retreat on the Gold Coast is coming up soon on Saturday the 2nd of September in the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland.

Tickets are only $147 plus GST and we highly recommend that you book in advance as our last retreat did sell out.

We have been really wanting to talk to the journey of IVF and Conception and we feel this topic gets hidden away and not enough exposure and so many women who listen here will have been on the IVF journey or experienced difficulties with fertility in some way… So we wanted to bring in a light, someone who has tried a different way..

We are excited to introduce Jen a Pilates Instructor & Yoga Teacher, specialising in women’s health. The work Jen does is the product of years of professional & personal experience. As a mother, and Jen has been through a long journey of fertility challenges & hormonal issues too. Over time, Jen has partnered with physiotherapists, nutritionists, naturopaths & mindset coaches to understand the best tools to help her clients through their journeys to motherhood.

While personal understanding is a great reference tool, Jen doesnt believe it’s enough to give you the knowledge to help others. So Jen spent many years studying exercise & health for women at all different stages. In many ways & many times over, Pilates & Yoga changed her life. I can’t promise this will be the case for everyone, but she has seen it happen. More times than she can count.

Jen has some amazing ways to support you online so jump in and say hello to her CLICK HERE

This is one episode that we hope all women who are pregnant listen to... because this is such an ear-opening discussion about how we as women & birthing people protect ourselves through pregnancy, labour, and birth.

In this episode, we invited Dr. Erin Bowe back onto the podcast. Dr. Erin Bowe is a Clinical & Perinatal Psychologist, Course Creator, Business Mentor, and Author. Host of the Mum as You Are podcast. She teaches over 2700 students from 42 countries. As seen in the Sydney Morning Herald, Kidspot & more. To work with Dr. Erin CLICK HERE

The topic for this episode is an important one because we talk about how we are wired to protect ourselves through the Fight, Flight, Freeze or FAWN (Appease) response) and we wanted to specifically speak to the 'Fawn or Appease' response because we believe that many of us as women and birthing people don't realise that this is a protective response we go into.

Please share this with anyone you may know who is expecting a baby as this is such an important topic to be aware of.

We are so pleased to welcome Katie to the podcast, sit back and soak up this amazing conversation.. (its mind opening)

Katie is an experienced doula and hypnobirthing educator, she consciously conceived and hypnobirthed her two boys into the world with tremendous love, focus and strength and it was their transformational births that inspired her to follow the call to become a Birthkeeper. Katie is also a trained Natural Therapist, Hypnotherapist, Birth Doula, Energetic Healer, Flower Essence specialist, Angelic Reiki Master Teacher, Conscious conception facilitator, Sacred Wombkeeper and Earthkeeper.

Katie’s why as an holistic birthing expert through her offerings at Harmonic Hypnobirthing is to inspire women and their birthing companions to achieve a truly sacred and intentional experience of conception, pregnancy and birth. The metaphysical and spiritual dimensions of this journey to birth are her special area of interest and expertise and she connects with mothers and their partners who desire to create a conscious experience of calling in their soul babies, nurturing their babies and mindset through quantum pregnancy practices and rituals, and offering the tools and practical wisdom to prepare for their birth in a sovereign and sacred way. The Hypnobirthing philosophy is at the core of her work which sees each family as unique and whole and provides the knowledge, tools and wisdom for each woman to vision and achieve the birth she truly deserves.

In our western culture, we grow constantly hearing how 'Painful' birth is and so many women even before they are pregnant have a huge fear of birth.

If we only were taught from a young age just how powerful we are as women and that contractions are a purposeful and powerful sensation then our whole perception of birth could change.

In this solo episode, Nicola & Shari talk about how you can change your perception of birth through the thoughts and language you use.

We hope you enjoy this episode and please share this with any pregnant mamas you may feel this may help.

We have been thinking about this episode for a while now, from our last episode “The First Shower” we have realised that many women focus on the birth but are not given education on how to prepare for the immediate postpartum care, what to pack in your bag, and how to look after your body straight after birth. Some of the topics can sometimes be a shock for women and birth partners so we feel so excited to introduce our next guest into the studio..

Meet Lydia owner and creator of Partum Panties, Maternity Underwear. A Registered Midwife, a Mother of two daughters.

Lydia has always been very passionate about supporting women and her passion is to provide women with products that allow for a greater postpartum recovery.

In the early postpartum period women often use underwear that are loose or tight. They experience leaking, pads that bunch up and underwear pulls up tightly onto their caesarean or perineum wound. Women are even wearing adult diapers, as there is nothing else on the market available to them.

Lydia also recognised one of the many challenges new mums face, is feeling comfortable with the right underwear. Women want to focus on their new baby and not have to worry about their heavy bleeding or the feeling of discomfort from bulky maternity pads and underwear.

This is why Lydia decided it was time to find a better solution for the postpartum woman and Partum Panties was born.

In this episode we also asked Lydia about post partum bleeding to haemorrhages to the first wee and poo to discussing care for tears and cesarean wounds.

We really wanted to sink into this first moment of being alone in the shower after birth

What that can feel like and how you navigate your emotional, physical and spiritualness.

Its a sacred moment, however it can feel very big.. so we wanted to give you that feeling of okay this moment, how can I prepare, what could I say to myself..

Jerusha is a doula, and birth photographer & videographer based in Northern NSW. She trained as a doula in 2006 through Childbirth International and has since worked extensively as a birth and postnatal doula in both London and Sydney.

Jerusha found the beauty of birth so captivating that she soon trained in photography so she could capture the magic of what she was seeing with her doula clients, to provide lifelong visual memories of their birthing experience.

Reading their mission statement on their website they say…

It was clear from the research They conducted that our maternity system is broken.

We have a postnatal depression epidemic, with suicide being the leading cause of maternal death in the developed world.

Birth trauma is rampant.

We have incredibly high intervention rates in birth, yet research shows that this is not leading to better outcomes for mothers and babies.

Globally, we are losing connection and trust in one of the most transformative, powerful, primal and pivotal rites of passage we will ever undertake in our lives.

We live in a time where it has become normal to disregard the importance of a woman’s/persons experience of birth. It is not widely known that our birth and birthing experiences deeply impact the way we navigate the world.

Nicola & I both saw the documentary and we want to be a part of this movement and help them spread this awareness so if you have an opportunity to watch the documentary please do yourself a favour and do it.

Welcome back beautiful mama to another episode of the Nurture Hub Podcast.

In this episode, we invite Dr.Elise Flipo, A Holistic Chiropractor who is the founder of Wellness Within Studio.

Elise supports your family from fertility into birth & beyond.

The Wellness Within Studio believe that chiropractic care is for everyone from babies to boomers.

They understand each person is unique and their goal is to allow your nervous system to thrive!

They see babies, children and pregnant women at Wellness Within Studio, combining chiropractic experience with specific gentle techniques.

Their Philosophy is that your body is inherently healthy and their aim is to ensure that the part that keeps it healthy, your nervous system in your spine, is functioning as nature intended.

Your brain is the control centre for every function of your body and delivers messages via the nerves in your spine back to the cells, organs, muscles and joints. This is how your body is able to heal itself.

They focus on restoring health by removing any interference in this system that may arise from the different types of stress experienced in our busy day to day lives.

They are passionate about your body’s ability to heal and thrive and believe that the health of a generation can be restored with chiropractic care, as your body heals well from the inside out.

Welcome back beautiful mama to another episode of the Nurture Hub Podcast.

In this episode, we invite Melissa Hays from Cocoon & Cradle to share with us some insight into a holistic approach to Sleep.

Melissa is a Gold Coast-based Midwife, Lactation Consultant and Sleep Specialist who provides services for mums & mums-to-be who want holistic and evidence-based breastfeeding, sleep and early parenting support. As you may have guessed, Cocoon & Cradle is not your average early parenting support service.

Most consultants have training in only one area; lactation or sleep. Whereas Melissa is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and holistic sleep coach, in addition to 10+ years of experience as a paediatric nurse and midwife. This is how she is able to offer truly holistic care. By pulling together all the pieces of the puzzle from feeding, sleep and development, Melissa is able to identify the root cause of the issue and work together with you to come up with a creative solution.

On top of her professional experience, She is also a mum to two very energetic but beautiful toddlers. So believe her when she says, She gets what it’s like for new mamas.

Melissa launched Cocoon & Cradle in 2020 because she felt there was not enough support and too much confusing and conflicting information regarding early parenthood. To be honest, She was sick of seeing incorrect and sometimes harmful advice being given out to unknowing mums and mums-to-be. Why? Because you deserve better. Since launching she has been able to support hundreds of mums all while focusing on responsive feeding and parenting, and biologically normal sleep.

We are very excited to interview the Founder & Creator of The Power of Birth, Amber-lee Buendicho, mother of two to Romeo and Nyla-May.

Amber-Lee while on maternity leave after experiencing Hyperemesis Gravidarum, birth trauma, postnatal anxiety and rage, Amber-Lee’s journey was not what she had expected, and at times very challenging. The Power Of Birth was created…

Amber-Lee is very passionate about women seeking support and using available resources to help them navigate and adjust to this new stage in life, all while loving yourself and embracing the rollercoaster ride, that is motherhood.

Birth has power. Our bodies can create life! So inevitably, this changes not only our physical body, but who we are as a person. The power of birth teaches us compassion, empathy, self discovery or rather, rediscovery. It has the power to grow a human, but also the power to change a human, into a mother. This transition is called Matrescence and can be difficult for some, how do you have a baby and ever be the same? It’s an adjustment, a worthwhile adjustment. But like anything worthwhile, it takes time. At The Power of Birth we are here to support you in whichever direction you’re motherhood journey takes you. We see you and your needs. You matter too!

Postpartum is wild…even though you have been thinking about your baby for months and might have been labouring for days, it seems like all of a sudden they are there and you are meant to know what to do. But do you?

Make sure motherhood is all you hoped it would be.

The Positive Postpartum Program helps uncertain pregnant women become savvy and settled mothers.

These are short and sweet and each one is no longer than half an hour. You can either watch the prerecorded videos or listen to the audio only, following along with the included slides.

– Monthly mothers groups where you can ask questions about the course, chat about anything that is on your mind, connect with other mothers.

– A supportive Facebook community of others who are on the same journey as you, where you can get on the spot help and encouragement from your fellow mamas-to-be as well as from me. – Bonus sessions with other postpartum professionals.

– Your Positive Postpartum Workbook (a $37.00 value), checklists, recipes, meditations, yoga sessions are all included.

– And you get lifetime access…because postpartum never ends!

Today we invite you to meet two amazing mothers, Carla & Nadia Mama’s with a mission to re-shape the postpartum care in the community, for their daughters & the daughters to come.

Over time, in clinic we have both noticed that mothers are becoming more and

more depleted, stressed and isolated. This not only deeply impacts the mother, but her children, family & community.

In countries all over the world, women are cared for in a unique way after childbirth

Unfortunately in our country this care is not yet a part of our culture.

Carla & Nadia are here to break the mould, shake things up & bring women the care that they really need. It takes a village to hold the mother.

They have created an in-home, postpartum service, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine & Ayurvedic practices. Tapping into nature, using all things natural to support new mums.

They offer time for the mother to bath & nap whilst they care for baby & stock the fridge with nourishing foods

The meals provided are specifically made to heal mother, warm her body, and help with milk production.

They want to be remembered by all the women they are here to hold + nurture.

Sit back and really enjoy this conversation today, both myself & Shari would have loved this service when had our babies.

Visit their website for all offerings, gifts to new mums and a blog to self care as a new mum.

We are so grateful to be able to share this special interview with Jane Hardwicke Collings - A Women’s Mysteries Teacher, Women-crafter, a Mother, Grandmother, Former Midwife, A Writer, Teacher, Workshop Facilitator.

Jane is a former Registered Nurse, and worked in that capacity in Paediatric Intensive Care Units and Women’s Operating Theatres.

Jane became a midwife at 26 and left the hospital system so as not to be complicit with institutionalised acts of abuse and violence on women and babies masquerading as safety.

Jane ‘grew up’ in the home-birth world and was a home-birth midwife for 30 years in the city and then rural areas.

Her own births have taught her who she is and what she is capable of.

Jane travels to give workshops on the wisdom of the cycles and the spiritual practice of menstruation; preparation for menstruation for mothers and daughters; and the sacred and shamanic dimensions of pregnancy, birth, mothering and menopause; and how to reclaim and heal our rites of passage. Jane also offers teacher training for these. Jane speaks at conferences and festivals and offers her books and e-courses to help heal the wounded feminine and wounded masculine of our patriarchal culture.

Jane is on a mission and is committed to working to help heal birth through helping mothers be more informed about how the system works and their rights, to heal traumatic birth experiences, to help birth workers be more aware of their impact on babies, mothers and fathers, to help heal menstruation by encouraging conscious rites of passage at menarche (first period) and helping women remember the importance of being connected to their body and their menstrual cycle, to banish menstrual shame and co-create a positive menstrual culture, and to reclaim menopause from medicine and help women harness the transformation powers of menopause.

Basically to reclaim feminine knowledge, wisdom and power through reconnection with the women’s mysteries.

Sit back and enjoy every moment of Jane’s Wisdom.

Can we be honest with you??? We hate the term 'BIRTH PLAN'!! you are probably thinking What? Why??

Because when we put one 'Plan' on one experience then we put a lot of expectation on ourselves and when things don't 'go to plan' then we can come out of our birth feeling disappointed and even traumatised.

We both work with women through pregnancy to help them prepare for all kinds of births and so when we met Catherine Bell and did her 'Birth Cartography - Birth Mapping' workshop we felt this was the answer that we were looking for in helping you all prepare for birth and any possible detours that came up.

Catherine Bell is The Birth Cartographer and author of The Birth Map: boldly going where no birth plan has gone before. She created the concept of Birth Maps to facilitate communication and aid confident navigation of the maternity landscape. After her second child was born, she trained as a doula and breastfeeding educator, as much to learn about Mothering as to be able to support others. This led to becoming a birth advocate and consumer representative, with a keen focus on communication and the undertaking of a PhD.

With everything they learned Claire was able to breathe through her surges and Luke knew how to support Claire through a posterior labour using the acupressure points.

Today we are discussing the language used around pregnancy and birth.

Pregnant women are vulnerable and highly suggestive, they are listening to everyone around them, caregivers, family, friends, partners, random people on the street.

The Words we use around pregnancy can be uplifting, empowering, inspiring and can also be the polar opposite undermining, fear-inducing and we often don’t realise the impact that words can have on women, often leaving them feeling overwhelmed, fear of not being enough, feeling that she might fail within her birth.

We both feel strongly about this topic and want people surrounding any pregnancy to be mindful of the conversations we are having with women and how we can change our communication.

If you need support or any coaching please do not hesitate to contact us.

So if you are working within the birthing industry or you’re pregnant or recently became a mum, please listen to this episode and share.

Today we are interviewing Nikki McCahon, a most inspiring, beautiful woman, a Mumma and a wife.

This episode is Insightful and brilliant for all mums to be and all those in the thick of post partum stage.

Nikki is a Matrescence Educator and Women’s life cycle guide

Nikki is the founder of ‘The Dear Mama Project’ podcaster, a coach a facilitator of intimate women’s circles and workshops both in person and online.

Nikki believes ‘When a baby is born, so too is a mother. Both are vulnerable, unsteady and trying to make sense of this new world’

Motherhood unravels us, and reweaves us. It leaves no woman as it found her. It cracks us open, takes us to our edges. It’s both beautiful and brutal, often at the same time.

Nikki’s journey with matrescence and initiation into this work was painful, joyful, challenging and disorientating. Whilst it didn’t feel like it at the time, it was the making of her as a person. Nikki created the Dear Mama Project as a soft landing place for you to explore your own transformation.

Birth Trauma is real and couple possibly affects 1 in 3 women.

Birth trauma looks and feels different to every woman, birth partner and even birth workers.

In this episode, we wanted to create conversation and bring to light around birth trauma and so we invited Dr Erin Bowe into this conversation.

Dr Erin Bowe is a Clinical Psychologist and perinatal psychologist, and transformation coach for women.

She has also previously taught childbirth education with Hypnobirthing Australia. She has 12+ years experience supporting families through the worst traumas imaginable, to find growth, strength and beautiful resilience they never knew possible.

After experiencing her own birth trauma (twice!) she quickly learned how little support and training there is for our birth workers who hear and witness these stories every day. From this, she developed two birth trauma training courses – one for parents, and one for birth workers. She has attracted over 1000 students in less than 6 months, so this speaks volumes to how much this work is needed.

Her book, More than a Healthy Baby, is due for release in December. This is a beautiful, heartfelt call to action for families to not only find strength and growth after birth trauma but to become the guardians of change in birth culture for the next generation.

In this podcast Shari & Nicola interview an inspiring Mumpreneur, Jenni Cauchi a formulator and founder of skin care range Blum, Brisbane born, a wife & mum of a beautiful little boy.

Jenni shares her life and the up’s and downs of trying to become a mum and breaking the stressful career path…

Jenni was thriving in her career as an Interior Designer, but working exhaustive hours in a high stress environment.

She was totally happy riding the adrenaline wave until it slapped Jenni in the face (so to speak) . I would most likely have to have IVF or assisted conception. I set out on a quest for answers, If I cannot do what I am fundamentally programmed to do as a woman then what on earth was I doing wrong?!

Jenni watched countless friends struggle with anxiety, depression, adrenal fatigue and infertility. Jenni was struggling with her own hormonal imbalances and set out on a quest to resolve them with the hope that one day she would be able to have children after many years of absent periods. Little did she know that she was embarking on a HUGE lifestyle overhaul to eventually land at the root cause of the problem – CORTISOL!

She then dove more and more into the ‘alternative’ lifestyle

And Blume was born……

Jenni products invites you to carve out the time to embrace self-love and quiet moments of reflection, creating a more conducive mindset for preconception, pregnancy and postpartum. Allowing every woman an opportunity to blūm.

Myself & Shari love introducing women to theses incredible experiences found within the products they truly are nurturing and is made with so much love.

Sit back and feel inspired… Jenni is such a beautiful soul

Birth matters!! The way we live, love and parent, is deeply impacted by birth. Birth has become immersed in a culture of fear and trauma. But you don’t need to accept this as your reality. Our babies’ births are significant, creating imprints within their neurobiology and emotional life.

For our babies’ optimum development, for ourselves as parents, for the blessed unfolding of our lives together; we need to bring them in gently, with love.

Our responsibility as parents is to create the best possible circumstances, for them to have the gift of the most gentle, loving arrival possible.

We want to imprint our young, our future generations with love, not fear.

In this beautiful interview with Nicole Moore from 'Birth Into Being' and shares about how during our pregnancy we imprint our babies with our feelings and emotions and Nicole helps women understand what they can do to release any fears, worries, stress and anxiety during pregnancy.

In this episode, we speak to Amanda from 'The Anxiety Wellness Queen' about anxiety in pregnancy and how that looks and feels different for all of us. https://www.theanxietywellnessqueen.com/

What is Anxiety? Anxiety is one of the most common Mental Health conditions experienced in Australia and America today!

According to the APS (Australian Psychological Society) anxiety is referred to as ‘feelings of worry, nervousness or a sense of apprehension’. We all experience anxiety at some point in our lives and it is a perfectly normal reaction to have to a stressful or nerve-racking event. Anxiety becomes an issue for many when it essentially begins to take over your life. The feelings become excessive, severe and overwhelming.

Anxiety is often accompanied with symptoms such as: * Difficulty Breathing * Racing Heart * Sweaty Palms * Difficulty Concentrating * Dry mouth * Nauseas * Hot and Cold Flushes * Tightness in your Chest * Excessive/Obsessive Thinking * Avoidance of People or Places * Negative Thoughts

And the list goes on….

If you feel you need support with your anxiety through your pregnancy we both supply support to women to help ease your thoughts and feelings that you may be having that are creating these physical sensations.

Welcome to Episode 2.

In this episode we chat to Nicola (Co -founder of Nurture Hub)

Nicola is a Wife, Mother, and loves all things pregnancy and birth.

Over 20 Years as a body worker, pilates practitioner, breath coach

Nicola had a deep calling to work with pregnancy, birth and postpartum women after landing into an unexpected birth of her best friends first baby.  It was after this her passion grew strong to help women, support women in all capacities from birth, to death, in all the life loops.  One very noticeable link in all of her work was the Breath and how so many people where unable to take a simple deep breath.

We discuss Nicola's own pregnancies, miscarriage, births and how she arrived into breath coaching.

Nicola shares her ups and down's during her own pregnancy journey,  and how things where quite different then she had imagined at the age of 38,  heading into motherhood.

Sit back and enjoy her story.
