The basketball card hobby is comprised of a strong community of collectors with amazing stories. I finally have made my return with an in-person interview with Michael Coleman or @coleman_cards on IG. Michael was kind enough to join me at my home and we had a blast talking the hobby.
He recently started working with cards full time so he explains how he was able to do that and deal with the stress and also balance it with his Tracy McGrady PC.
Michael has been extremely successful with Luka Doncic cards and recently was able to obtain his ultra rare Gold Prizm RC /10...considered by many to be his best rookie card. "A bartender should not own this card in 2019" was the quote from Michael. But through hard work and understanding the Luka market he was able to make it a reality.
In this interview I had the pleasure of speaking with the Co-founder of StockX, Josh Luber. StockX recently entered the sports card market with their release of the sports card collectible category on their platform. Josh will give us the background on their entrance into the hobby and tell us what's in store for the future.

This episode I have a very special guest, Jean of Arena Design. She makes up one half of the husband and wife duo responsible for the designs of all the best cards from the 90s including PMGs, Star Rubies, Credentials, Jambalaya and so much more.
Jean tells us about her time at Fleer and Skybox from the early 90s to 2000 and the changes that happened when they were bought by Marvel. Jean and her husband changed everything we know about cards in the 90s when they introduced new graphics, printing technologies, serial numbered cards and new card stocks. They completely revolutionized the industry with their out of the box thinking they brought from working in Atlantic City casinos.

There's been a lot of discussion lately around altering cards and specifically how it relates to the auction house PWCC. Brent joins me to discuss how his company is going to work to fix these issues and restore faith in the trading card market.
He also has announced the release of their new Marketplace Tenets which includes refunding buyers' money of proven altered cards purchased from PWCC. He also has a couple other things in the works that he shares for the first time.

In this episode I spoke with John (formerly known as slobbythegreat), a super-collector of Scottie Pippen. He has arguably one of the best player collections in the world. John has been out of the hobby for over 3 years because of the greed and negativity he views in the hobby. He's a legend in the hobby and is known for cracking cards out of slabs because he enjoys the beauty of the cards by themselves.
In this episode I sit down with Josh Dawson, the owner of the number 2 ranked collections of both LeBron James and Michael Jordan in the PSA Registry. Josh has been collecting for about 20 years with only a short break during college and picked up many of his key pieces before the prices blew up. He owns probably the most important modern basketball card, the LeBron Exquisite RPA /99 and he lets us take a look.
This week I spoke with Stephen, a collector from Boston. Stephen uses his love of the game to fuel his passion for collecting his favorite athletes. He talks about why he collects certain players and refuses to overpay for guys like Jayson Tatum.
I brought back Adam from my first episode to talk about market manipulation in the hobby. We discuss how to recognize a card being manipulated and how to avoid falling into the trap. Today's episode is an interview with Randy, a super collector of Dajuan Wagner and self proclaimed "lot collector". Randy buys lots of cards to add to his collection and help other collectors with their needs. He's been in the hobby a long time and has lots of great stories.

Brendan talks about his unique, diverse collection of everything from 90s basketball rubies to Simpsons cards. Then we dove into the topic of counterfeits in the hobby. Today I sat down with the legendary Nat Turner. Nat has arguable the best basketball card collection in the world from high end LeBron rookies to 90s Jordan 1/1 Legacy cards. Nat came back into the hobby in 2010 and was on a mission to complete the elusive red and green Precious Metal Gems sets and he's on his way to completing them both. Niten left the hobby in the early 2000s and came back 3 years ago to start his high end auto/patch collection of the big 3, primarily focusing on Upper Deck Exquisite, probably the most iconic high end cards in the history of basketball cards. He shares his experiences beginning his collecting with Instagram and how it's shaped him today. Sam collects Celtics players and is also working on an elusive set. He buys and sells cards regularly to fund his own collection. He shares his take on the future of the hobby from a younger generations' perspective.
