The church is a community with a shared purpose, in which faithful disciples find their place in contributing to the mission of building the kingdom. We will be looking at specific Gospel texts that deal with this concept of shared purpose. Having completed the study on our identity as God's children, we now turn to consider what it means to live out our identity in community by sharing our gifts with one another.
We recognize the Ascension of Jesus Christ. Can you imagine standing on a hill side, hearing Jesus' final instruction to "be his witness to the world" then rising up into the heavens? As we wrap up our I HEART Spring Hill series we will be reminded of how our own stories of God's Mighty Deeds need to be told.
Join us as we dive into “The Great Commission” as depicted in the Gospel of Matthew. This account of the post-resurrection teaching of Jesus focuses on being a witness to all nations – to establish the church among all people-groups. Through the presence of the Risen Lord, we are called to go, baptize, and teach the gospel. We, as Trinity Church, have been called and commissioned to carry the gospel of all people-groups. What does that mean and who are we missing?
How do we love Spring Hill well? We need to give to those who have less than we do or have needs greater than ours. If we do that, we can spread the gospel of Jesus and also show his love through us by our actions.
Mark 14:3-9 & Mark 16:14-18
?As we sing a new song to the Lord, we will revisit the familiar gospel passage from Luke 24 and journey with the women as they go to the tomb early on Sunday morning. As they walk, they wonder, "who will roll the stone away for us?" Their grief and worry over the stone caused them to no longer hear the new song being sung over all of creation - a song of redemption, miraculous new life, and joy! What stones are in your way? How can God bring new life and a new song into your heart?

This week we continue our "Following Jesus Together" sermon series by examining John 4:4-13. Jesus engages a Samaritan woman, embraces her with love and equips her to become his follower. Why would Jesus cross cultural boundaries to change this woman's life? Why did Jesus leave heaven and come to earth in the first place? It's all about God's love and amazing grace! Let us be a church who shares the love of Jesus Christ.
John 1:1-5; 1:43-49: What does it mean to follow Jesus? How exactly does a church "make" disciples of Jesus Christ? Trinity Church has answered that question with this vision statement: We will ENGAGE our community with the gospel of Jesus Christ, EMBRACE one another with the love of Jesus Christ and EQUIP our church to follow Jesus Christ!" Joshua 5:13-15; 6:1-5
Join us for a close look at the life of Joshua, Moses successor in leading the Israelites into the promised land. Joshua was told by God to "be strong and courageous" and "nothing would stand against him" if he listened to Gods instruction. Joshua does listen and miracles happen! God fights for his people and gives them victory over the obstacles to their inheritance. Are you seeking God? Are you listening for instructions and trusting God to fight for you? Did you know Christians fight our battles on our knees?

This Sunday we will "Stand Firm" in the love of Christ as we culminate our stand series. Joshua led the Israelites into the promised land and divided the tribes into their own regions. The final chapters in Joshua describe the tribes coming together one last time before going to settle into their new homes in order to reaffirm their faith in God Almighty. Joshua challenges them to choose this day who you will serve - pagan gods or The Lord who fought for us? Will the people choose God? Will they love the Lord with all their heart, mind, and strength? Will you?

Before Advent was ever about the first coming of Jesus Christ, it was out his second coming. The second coming of Jesus will mark the end of all things broken on the beginning of all things new. It is only in remembering the future second coming that we can most deeply appreciate and appropriate Christmas, his first coming. -The Christian New Year

The word Rollercoaster has to have one of the greatest emotional responses of any word in the English language. Some will hear its utterance and immediately be filled with pure adrenaline-seeking excitement while others will immediately develop the deepest pit of discomfort in their gut. Where do you fall on the spectrum of thrill-seeking entertainment? Are you the first one in line ready for every twist, turn, hill, and valley the ride has to offer or are you more fearful of the unknown and perfectly peachy with two feet on the solid ground?
Jesus offers two words to each and every disciple throughout history, an invitation for a whirlwind experience — "Follow Me.” This one phrase can yet again strike the greatest excitement or the greatest fear into the soul of all humanity. Where do you fall on the spectrum? How is this invitation received throughout our faith journey? What does it mean during a time of great change or furthermore a Global Pandemic? These are questions that we all must prayerfully ponder as we accept the call to Follow Jesus Together.

Friends are an important part of our faith story. They help shape us, pick us up, keep us from falling, and much more. In this classic song, we are reminded that true friends are not fair weather friends, they are friends in all season: winter, spring, summer, or fall. Jesus gave us a friendship example to follow in addition to the wisdom he shared about what it means to be friend.

God raised Jesus from the dead to provide His people with an everlasting relationship with them. God also desires for His people to have a similar relationship with each other. That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. The Holy Spirit does not give moral license but empowers people to avoid sin. Living a life guided by the Spirit does not mean sin is no longer a concern for us, it means that that we must learn to control our sinful nature. It’s ironic though, because like each of the other fruit, it is not accomplished without the presence of the Holy Spirit.
God raised Jesus from the dead to provide His people with an everlasting relationship with them. God also desires for His people to have a similar relationship with each other. That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. When we live lives that are not guided by the Spirit, it leads to sin. Just as sin separates us from God, it also hurts our relationships with others. Gentleness undoes what damage our sin can cause, but requires great strength. Gentleness is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign of strength in God.

That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. One thing we know to be true about God is that He is faithful to keep His promises. He can be trusted. Can the same be said about us in our relationships with others?

That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. What does it mean to have goodness? Is it simply overall niceness? Is it doing the right thing? Yes, to both.
God raised Jesus from the dead to provide His people with an everlasting relationship with them. God also desires for His people to have a similar relationship with each other. That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. Some relationships are super healthy. Some are not. Some of the stressful relationships are due to our own faults. Some are not. The gift of patience gives us the ability to refrain from making bad situations worse.
God raised Jesus from the dead to provide His people with an everlasting relationship with them. God also desires for His people to have a similar relationship with each other. That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. The peace that passes all understanding is only available through the Holy Spirit. It creates an internal well-being that overflows into our relationships with others so that we become peacemakers.

That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. Is your bucket of joy always being emptied? Or, is your bucket of joy always being filled? It’s an age-old question that helps us frame the way joy enters into our relationships with others.

That is our high calling. Fortunately, through the presence of the Holy Spirit, God gives us tools to help live out that calling in relationship with one another. As Jesus was preparing His followers for what was next, He gave them a new commandment - a new way to look at love - that raised the bar forever.
Many have stated that this is a horrible time for Easter. We can't get to the store to get our Easter outfits. We can't gather on the day before for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. There won't be any Easter photo booths at the church and we won't get to be together for Easter worship. The scriptures remind us that this Easter is more similar to the first Easter than any other Easters of our lifetime. I believe Easter comes at a perfect time. We have an incredible opportunity to focus on the Resurrecting Power of our God. We all need resurrection. We all need new life breathed into us.
This Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week. I realize that it may be hard to comprehend given our current situation, but this week is a week of celebration. It begins on Sunday as we remember the entrance Jesus made into the holy city of Jerusalem. Have you ever made an entrance that you had to plan for? One that you knew people were going to remember? How'd it go? Did it turn out to be fantastic or a flop? This Sunday, we look at the lasting effect Jesus' entrance had on the people
The book of Job explores the age old question of why bad things happen. The answers, if we are fortunate enough to even find, are rarely simple. Nonetheless, as followers of Jesus, who also endured bad things happening, we must not evade the difficult questions, but look to find meaning in and through our times of trial and suffering. After all of the questions, all of the complaining, all of the arguing, all of the pointing fingers, and all of the judging, it turns out that all Job really wanted was one things. This Sunday we learn what that one thing was and how Job received it.
The book of Job explores the age old question of why bad things happen. The answers, if we are fortunate enough to even find, are rarely simple. Nonetheless, as followers of Jesus, who also endured bad things happening, we must not evade the difficult questions, but look to find meaning in and through our times of trial and suffering. In the first 37 chapters of Job, we hear everyone’s expert opinion on suffering: Job, Job’s wife, Job’s friends, Job’s hard friends. In Chapter 38, we finally hear what God has to say has He weighs in on the issue.

Can pain be a good thing? We know the arguments, but pain is pain by any name, and those who experience it are not likely to be encouraged by platitudes. We look this week at the role faith plays in persevering through pain.

We know the expression, “A good friend is hard to find.” But, is the opposite true? Is a hard friend good to find? In Job’s case, the answer may surprise you.

The goal of these last several weeks has been to prepare us to discern our unique position of personal calling. Now, we must do something difficult. Go. Go into God's great world and trust where the Spirit is sending us.

Where do our core identity of strengths and talents intersect with our passions, burdens, and the community’s needs? The answer will shape our unique mission of good works and deeds. We will see how we can be just the right person in just the right place and at just the right time to carry out the good works and deeds planned by God.

During this study of Ephesians, we will learn how discovering our purpose. This week we shift our focus to our unique personal calling that makes us different from every other person on earth. The first element of our unique calling—the BE element in our framework—is our unique identity or how we are uniquely made.

During this study of Ephesians, we will learn how discovering our purpose. If we look at all of our current relationships we can see where we have the most influence to make disciples. How do we claim a mission field where we are to model the characteristics of disciple making?
God desires for us to come to worship with the expectation of the worshiping Him in Spirt and in Truth. We must come to worship expecting great things to happen - expecting to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Expecting for God to be powerfully present. Expecting for our hearts to be filled. Expecting to claim the victory in Jesus' name. Just showing up to worship is not an option.

During this study of Ephesians, we will learn how discovering our purpose. God calls us to play an active part in His mission for the church. That mission is to carry the fullness of Jesus into all corners of society. We need to learn to see myself as a missionary of God’s mission and commit to play my unique part.

During this study of Ephesians, we will learn how discovering our purpose. As a child of God we are called to weigh the cost of surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus and putting Him fully at the center of our lives. Our core identity is found in surrendering to Jesus, being His disciple, and becoming more like Him.

During this study of Ephesians, we will learn how discovering our purpose. There are three questions that each of us must answer. These next seven weeks will help us understand how to answer them for ourselves. Who am I created to BE? What am I created to DO? Where am I created to GO?
Christmas is a season for seeking. It seems that everywhere we turn these days we find someone who is searching and looking and trying to locate something. “Where is he who is born king of the Jews? We’ve come to worship him.” Matt. 2:2. That is what the Wise Men said. Each year we make this journey to the manger. It doesn’t matter when the Wise Men – What matters is why. What is the reason we come to the manger?
This Christmas, we will be re-telling the greatest story every told, the Christmas Story. While the message hasn’t changed in over 2000 years, it’s a message that will change your heart. We will be looking at the story from the perspective of the different participants in the original story. As we see the first Christmas through their eyes, we hope to learn how to see Christmas this year through God’s eyes.

During the Christmas season, people seem to be drawn to the eternal. We seem to be pulled toward the supernatural. Most of us down deep are tired of living in the natural world and when we think about Christmas and the miracle of Jesus Christ, we are drawn to it. The angels had two jobs. Today, we focus on those two jobs and how we can be like angels is we accept and focus on those two jobs.
Christmas leads many believers and non-believers to question the challenges with which the birth of Christ presents the world. It leaves people to wonder why God chose such an unusual way to reclaim and redeem His creation. What if things had gone a little differently? If the innkeeper recognized the power of the moment in history and abandoned his home so Mary and Joseph could use his own place to give birth to the Savior of the World? What if his heart was hardened and he turned them away completely? How would Christmas be different if the story was different?
Why Mary and Joseph? That is the question we are going to be asking and answering today. Why Mary? Why did God choose to use this girl? Why did God choose this carpenter Joseph? If we can discover why God chose them, maybe God can use us in some ways we never thought possible.
As we finish our series on spiritual partnerships, we look to the benefits of sharing. It's a concept that we were taught early in our childhoods. Some of us learned the lesson better than others. For some, sharing comes naturally. For others, it is more difficult. This week, we look at the transformational power of sharing.
One of the ministry partners we have is one we often overlook - our children. Jesus desires us to bring our children to him. This is not only for the sake of our children, it is for our sake as well. Jesus desires for us to learn about growing our faith from our children.
God has big expectations for those who call themselves His followers. He always has. One of those expectations is generosity. The Good News is that not only did God model that expectation through the life of Christ, we stand on the shoulders of many others who have modeled extravagant generosity. Will we meet and/or exceed God's expectations?
Sometimes, it seems like we will never get to where we are headed. We know the goal, understand the plan, and still feel like the finish line is too far away. However, we are partners with a God who is faithful to seeing His plans through to completion.
Jesus did not do ministry alone. He commissioned others he taught and loved to do the same kind of work that he had been doing. Then, he empowered them with His Spirit. We are among those who are also empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue the work that He is doing in our community.
What happens when there is nothing we can do to find the joy in our heart? When our broken soul is sapping our spirit? How do we keep from getting in that place and what can we do if we find ourselves in that position?
One of the decisions that you do not have is the choosing of your own name. At least not until you are old enough to change your name legally. Though we all have different first and last names, we all have one name in common. This Sunday, we learn what that name is and how it impacts our life. - Proverbs 22:1-5
Aesop is known for saying, "You can judge a man by the company he keeps." Of the many decisions we make on a daily basis, the choice of our friends is among the most important. When you choose your friends, what factors do you consider?
Is pride a good thing or a bad thing? We tell our employees to take pride in their work. We tell our students to take pride in your school. What about when it comes to our faith life? What does living a spiritual-smart life have to say about pride?
Smart living doesn't mean easy living. While learning to live a Spirit-led, Spirit-smart life will certainly improve the quality of our relationships, it will not guarantee a life without challenges. Nor will it allow us to skate by on our merits. We must continue to work on our faith.
We continue our series in Proverbs by focusing on where we put our trust for our decision-making. On the path to learning to live smart, God himself guides us by the wisdom embodied in his word.
This week, as we launch our series, we learn from Proverbs 1 where to start if we desire to acquire this "Spirit-led" wisdom, which will lead us in our ability to make the best decisions.

Even with the strongest of faiths, we find ourselves wrestling with God, wrestling with one another trying to figure out why things happen the way they do. Often, we come away from these wrestling matches with scars that show our healing and our growth.

It’s too easy to look at the state of humanity and fall into the trap of thinking that we will never live up to the standards God desires, so why even try? The reality is that each of us is a beloved child of God who is preciously made and beautiful to behold. We find throughout Genesis examples of God creating and redeeming His creation. Certainly, we are also recipients of God's redeeming grace.
