Releasedatum 2020-03-20 Label ORIGINS RCRDS Catalogus ORIGINS24
ORIGINS RCRDS unveils a brand-new series this March entitled 'This Is ORIGINS' as label boss Josh Butler welcomes Demuir, Flashmob, Michel de Hey and JPA for Volume 1.
Founded in late-2016, Josh Butler's ORIGINS RCRDS imprint continues to go from strength to strength as one of house music's most consistent and impressive growing labels, welcoming the likes of Kerri Chandler, Groove Armada and Richy Ahmed through to rising talents including ANOTR, Ben Rau and Dennis Quin across the catalogue to date. Having closed the year with the debut of Butler's own Timezones series, early 2020 will also welcome a second new addition to the label's output as we see the launch of a new various artist series entitled 'This Is ORIGINS', with the first instalment welcoming a debut collaboration between Demuir and Butler himself, plus three label debuts from Flashmob, Michel de Hey and JPA.
Butler kicks things off alongside rising Toronto talent Demuir as they deliver the slick 'Tropicana', a slinking house cut guided by blossoming melodies, bumping bass licks and icy hats throughout. Next, Flashmob delivers the first of three label debuts with 'The Island', a driving production armed with crisp snares and distorted vocal snippets, whilst Michael de Hey's lively 'Garyamoi' sees the introduction of rich chord stabs atop of rolling organic percussion to great effect. To close, rising Melbourne talent JPA reveals his contribution 'Here Now' - a dubby closer fusing bright synth lines and further resonant vocals to wrap things up in impressive fashion.

Dutchman Michel de Hey is back with a first ever studio album titled ‘Let It Go’. Due for release on Thursday 3rd October, it comes as a digital-only album on the In The Future label with a special all-nighter in Toffler Rotterdam (b2b de Sluwe Vos) and a 10HRS set at Thuishaven with Benny Rodrigues confirmed.
de Hey has been a respected DJ, producer and label boss for more than 30 years. He always captures audiences with a continuous element of surprise and constantly innovative sounds. He has played everywhere from Berlin to Ibiza to Japan and released on his own HEY! Records/EC Records, Noir Music, Bedrock and Rejected amongst many others.
This fantastic new album represents the last six years of Michel’s life, which have been his busiest yet. It is one firmly aimed at the dance floor, just how Michel likes it, and some tracks feature his own vocals, all of which are designed to make you forget about the world around you. Some of the tracks have previously been released as vinyl only or anonymously, and the artist himself says:
“In the time this was written, I moved to Amsterdam, I got divorced, I had too many long weekends, I turned 50 and most importantly, after 30 years, I finally re-found the pleasure and satisfaction of working in the studio. I can listen to all the tracks with pleasure and pride although each track stands for a different phase in my grieving process and getting over my various turmoils.”
Musically the album packs a real punch across ten tight tracks, from the deep opening grooves of ‘Dawning’ to the more unhinged synths and spinning hi-hats of the cosmic ‘I Am Not Looking For’. ‘Just One Turn’ is pure, infectious house music, while ‘I Just Want More And More’ ups the ante with punchy drums but melancholic chords. Elsewhere there are stripped back dub house cuts like ‘Wednesday’, masterfully melodic and hypnotic rollers like ‘Sail With Me’ and dreamy, pad laced closer ‘So Cold’.
This is an effortlessly cool and absorbing house track that takes you on a real trip to the heart of the dance floor in real style.

The best things are always worth waiting for. Having buzzed off the same parties and dug from the same Dutch record store crates for many years, old friends Michel De Hey and Boris Ross finally collide in the studio and the result is this stone-cold summer weapon: 'If You Know You Know'.
Know this: Everything about this track is designed for impact. Pulverising bass/kick plunges, stately hypnotic acid tweaks and a sense of weight and breadth that could have arenas the size of South Wales trembling to the core, its the perfect house/tech hybrid that could work across all dance floor scenarios. And it comes from a studio alliance formed over Rotterdam's best Surinamese sandwiches.
With Boris fresh from a Baggi collab on Desolat and Michels Steve Silk Hurly homage still doing serious damage on Rejected, 'If You Know You Know' is the latest in a rich vein of heavily supported cuts from both individuals. Let's hope we don't have to wait so long for the follow-up because this really is the business. Get in the know.
It might be sub-zero temperatures out there right now. It might feel like we'll never seen the sun again. But trust us, the moment you press play on this absolute gem of a reboot from Michel de Hey, you'll feel like summer is just around the corner.
Bringing Sims & Hurley's '92 anthem bang up to date Michel ups the tempo a smidgeon, remakes that legendary piano hook into a glittering, rush-fuelled slice of loop rocket fuel and brings our full attention to Kym's iconic vocal. The result is a concentrated shot of positivity that palpably trembles with everything thats pure and sacred about house music.
Michel returns to Rejected after releases on Ovum, Pokerflat and Relief with a lesson in how to respect a heritage track while adding your own creative twist and bringing it to a whole new generation. And it's landing just in time for spring and those early signs of the hot summer ahead. Wrap up warm and crank this up. The sun will be here before we know it.
After the great reactions to his recent releases on Pokerflat and Relief Records, label boss Michel de Hey returns to his own HEY! Records imprint with two top tracks he’s played intensively over the summer. After 30 years in the game releasing on the likes of King Street NYC and Ovum Recordings, Michel de Hey is a well-established and vital figure in the underground scene. He has a big, bouncy sound that is always infectious and constantly innovative. When not touring the world he is laying down his high-quality productions, and these latest are two more that prove that once again. Excellent opener ‘Baby Work Mine’ fits in smoothly with the huge Pokerflat release he did, and when the bassline kicks in it will bring a smile to faces as well as keep feet busy. It’s a chunky house tune with playful bass and chord vamps that make you want to wiggle. On the fantastic flip, ‘HEYHO’ has been around for two years and has been a big last tune in Michel’s sets, so is a real anthem already. It is slightly different from his usual outings with sing-along African chords and piano stabs married to a loose house groove, and is destined to stick in your head until well beyond the next morning. These are essential new tracks that are guaranteed to move the dance floor this autumn.

◈ KAROTTE VS. MICHEL DE HEY
It’s almost time for worlds biggest dance event again! This years ADE is going to be even more special for Michel and Karotte as they join forces on the 22nd of October in Wolf Atelier.
Since the last back 2 back session between these two DJ’s it could not be long before Michel and Karotte would enter the DJ booth together again. Their shared love and passion for good music, intimate locations and food brought them to Wolf..
◈ WOLF ATELIER
This location is housed in a large glass building which rests on a 100 years old railroad bridge near Amsterdam Central Station. During the day it is a high end restaurant runned by Michael Wolf and during ADE it will be an intimate club for 4 nights in a row. This means; remove all the furniture, place a crazy soundsystem, dim the lights and dance! With the sold out night at Restaurant Baut during ADE 2014 still fresh in our memory we are sure this will also be a night to remember.
◈ TICKETS
For only €10 you are part of this special party. You can get your tickets via www.micheldehey.com. This party is also open to ADE delegates.
