Passion for Truth is a Christ-centered, media-driven ministry and community of believers based in St. Charles, MO. We are devoted to doing “Bible things in Bible ways” and pursuing the Christian Roots of our faith. We seek to understand the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, within its historical and cultural framework while applying what He teaches us through the love of Messiah Yeshua (Jesus) and the revelation of the Holy Spirit.

The author's goal in the book of James [Jacob] is to call out and expose the fake believers. James wants to empower us to not just believe in God intellectually. (Indeed, even the demons "believe" in God.) True belief is established by what we do—our works. For that reason, many so-called believers don't like James. They think his emphasis on doing good works is "legalistic." It doesn't make them feel good. But the Word of God is not meant only to encourage us. Many times the Word is meant to convict us and motivate us to take action.

We live in a hyper-sensitive and easily offended culture. Too many people today don't know how to deal with their emotions. They can't handle it when someone offends them (even when it is unintentional), so they overreact and repeat the cycle of offense. Indeed, even believers are getting caught up and reacting in ungodly ways, bringing strife and division to the body of Messiah.
Should we be surprised? Not at all. Yeshua prophesied of the end days that "many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another" (Matthew 24:10). We are seeing this play out in our world today. But what do we do about it? How are we supposed to respond when we're offended? And how do we help others "come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil"? (2 Timothy 2:25-26).

A constant theme throughout the Bible is mankind's struggle between the desire to live a holy life for God and the desire to return to sin. Paul describes this struggle as a "war" between his mind, which serves the Law of God, and His flesh, which serves the law of sin and death. As Believers, we can all relate to Paul. Even after the Israelites were miraculously delivered from Egyptian slavery, they complained to Moses and expressed their desire to return to Egypt:
"We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic." (Numbers 11:5)
We all have our own "Egypt." We all struggle with the desire to sin (and too often we give in to those desires). Indeed, in moments of temptation, it is all too easy to focus only on the temporary gratification of our "Egypt" while completely forgetting the pain, sorrow, and bondage that come with it.

Pastor David Robinson teaches on the danger of Idolatry.
What is the most destructive sin that the Bible talks about? Is it sexual addiction? What about gossip, pride, or jealousy? You might surprised to discover that it's actually the sin of idolatry that presents the biggest threat to our relationship with God. Why? Because it's from idolatry that "all manner of unrighteousness" comes.
"Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen." (Romans 1:24-25)
Idolatry is by far the most discussed problem in the scriptures. Indeed, we as Believers were created for the purpose of worshiping God and bringing glory to His name. Therefore, worshiping false gods betrays our very identity and purpose.
But is idolatry really even a problem anymore, like it was in Biblical times? After all, nobody worships false gods today, at least not in Western civilization...or do they?

The Bible records for us that ALL Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16), but many Christians today have forgotten some very important parts of Scripture—namely, the "instructions" of God, or in Hebrew, Torah.

As Christians, we want to get back to the roots of our Faith. We want to get back to how Yeshua (Jesus) and the apostles lived and taught. That’s what this movement is all about!
We've embraced the Torah, feasts, and the Sabbath. And all of those things are great. But, generally speaking, Believers today are missing an important piece of the puzzle: Fasting.
