The Bomb Girls Beacon is a limited-run podcast dedicated to Bomb Girls, the television drama that follows the lives of Canadian women working at a munitions factory during World War II. We have released the 7 episodes that we had planned when we started the podcast. We may release additional episodes in the future but have no immediate plans.
Even though Bomb Girls focuses on the experiences of working women during World War II, Marco’s storyline is an important part of the series. His experience as an Italian man during the war parallels nicely with the female factory workers. We talk about the discrimination Marco faced, his “ladies’ man” status at the beginning of the series, and ultimately his becoming an ally to the Bomb Girls.

As VicMu’s “glamour girl,” Vera’s terrible accident at the beginning of the series really challenges her sense of self-worth. We discuss how Vera copes with that trauma, both as she recovers in the hospital and after she returns to work, as well as her knack for being an office worker and her relationship with Marco.
