On this final track in our baseball preview series, Lucas starts it out with some corrections and notes from the six previous preview shows. Then we dive in with MVP, Rookie of the Year, Cy Young Award, and Managers of the year predictions in 2017. We have a hearty debate with the teams we think will make a run at the world series in 2017.
Defending MVP Mike Trout leads the Angels into the 2017 campaign. Do they have enough around him to have a playoff push? The guys debate. The Astros have all the young talent in the world, can the rebound from a slow 2016 to make the playoffs again? The A's have a horrible stadium situation and we talk about how the new CBA highly encourages them to build a new stadium. The Mariners were making moves left and right this offseason and we talk about how they look heading into the 2017 season. Finally we touch on future Hall of Famer Adrian Beltre and the Texas Rangers, followed by our division predictions.
One thing is certain in the AL Central, uncertainty outside of Cleveland. We dive into the Detroit Tigers and what the future holds since their owner passed away. They still have the beast that is Miguel Cabrera and the Ace Justin Verlander. Then we hit on the local Kansas City Royals and how crazy of a year this could be for a team that won the World Series two years ago. Contracts are coming due, what to make of all the possible madness in Kansas City in the coming summer. After that we talk about the Twins and what we like, their strengths and their weaknesses. Finally we hit on the White Sox. Who on their team is untradable that doesn't have rookie status? We discuss and then we reveal our AL Central predictions.
In the Fumbling Punter's first American League Podcast the guys get into the Boston Red Sox. Was the Chris Sale trade worth the heavy price they paid to the White Sox? Boston's first season without Big Papi in years, where will the power come from? The guys debate whether or not Hanley Ramirez is transforming into Manny Ramirez. In our third and final National League Division preview Lucas and I talk ourselves into loving the Colorado Rockies. We talk about some former Rockies greats, and hit on the tragic injuries that have befallen the club in this preseason. When it comes to the DBacks, know one thing, we like Goldy. Should they keep him or trade him? After dumping their farm system for Shelby Miller a year ago, can the young righty rebound in 2017? Dodgers, Dodgers, Dodgers: that is your last three NL West winners, can they repeat? Can Seager follow up his rookie of the year season with a NL MVP? The guys debate. The Giants spent good money to solidify their bullpen, what does that make their 2017 outlook look like? Mad Bum kills rattlesnakes, but can he win a Cy Young? The last team we touch on before giving our NL West predictions are the San Diego Padres and we are talking about their rebuild. Also, we miss Vin Scully.
On our NL Central preview we open with the rebuilding Milwaukee Brewers and their decision whether or not to trade Ryan Braun then we get into roster moves and give you our general feeling on the 2017 Brew Crew. Then we get in to the St. Louis Cardinals and kind of our general feeling after talking about the Reyes injury. We give a breakdown of the lineup and rotation and where we think the Cards will land in the central this season, after much debate. Lucas gets to talk about his defending world champion Chicago Cubs. A surprise move at the lead off spot for Maddon. We talk about the Cubs departures and who will help fill those holes when discussing the Cubbies roster makeup for the upcoming season. If we haven't pissed you off yet, then we debate on the Pittsburgh Pirates and the tough decision they have to make with Andrew McCutchen. Lucas really likes their starting pitching this year and gives a nod to the Pirates pitching coach for what he's been able to do with their pitching staff. Lastly we touch on the Cinicinati Reds and their marriage to Joey Votto. Brandon Phillips and Jay Bruce both departed since last summer and we talk about the Reds rebuilding process in what should be a fun, smart episode.
In our first MLB preview, we talk about last night's big win for the USA in the WBC. Then we hit on the Atlanta Braves and their new look team going to open their new stadium in Cobb County. We then hit the Miami Marlins and talk about their great outfield and rebounding from the tragic loss of Jose Fernandez. After that we talk about the Phillies and their rebuilding process. The paying of Jeremy Hellickson. Then we talk New York Mets: Matt Harvey's diminishing velocity, the power staff, and the debate of Devin's hatred versus the Mets and Lucas's reality of the Mets. Lastly we touch on the Washington Nationals, the big trade for Adam Eaton, and the debate over who will win the NL East.
On Monday's podcast I start talking about the crazy weekend of college basketball. The upsets, the we all knew its, and the crying Northwestern kid. Then I give out the three things I liked this weekend as well as bragging on our gambling picks. SEC basketball is back, ACC is fake basketball. Team USA is on to the final four of the World Baseball Classic, and why in the hell are they sending Chris Archer back to spring training? I tell you the most American thing of all time, and then get in to the jersey bracket challenge. A 64 random St. Louis Cardinals player bracket where you all get to chose the winner, and if turnout is good enough I will be buying the champions jersey. The St. Louis Blues are moving on up in the standings, and are a little closer to securing a playoff spot thanks to Brian Elliot and the Calgary Flames.

I dive into the opening day of the NCAA tournament and talk about the crazy ending to the Vanderbilt-Northwestern game. Worst ending to a game since C-Webb?
