Sanofi and Stagecoach have joined forces to create a new girl band who have one thing in common. They are all teens living with Type 1 Diabetes. 1 Type have released a song called Rise Up and an accompanying music video. The aim is to open up conversations and bust the myths around T1 Diabetes a condition which is often misunderstood. A true testimony to the power of music and the arts to get a message across.

Cats and birds’ long-standing rival is affecting the songbird population. National charities Cats Protection and SongBird Survival are letting cat owners know the best ways to limit their cat’s hunting. Tips include playing with your cat for 5-10 minutes every day as it allows them to exhibit their natural hunting behaviour and reduces their motivation to seek out prey.

All eyes were on Guildford Cathedral on a rain swept Saturday afternoon. The weather didn't dampen the spirits of the assembled crowd who had come to help Pip mark the end of her one week journey from Coventry to Guildford on her mobility scooter. She was doing this to raise money from the Woman's Royal Army Corps, a charity which has helped her in so many ways. At the cathedral there was an assembly of fellow army veterans and dignitaries who wanted to say well done to Pip.

New Research from TK Maxx suggests that children's parties are causing a cost of gifting crisis with families struggling to keep up with the extravagant parties and the pressure to deliver an Instagram perfect party for their child.
A third of parents say they are cutting back on spending on gifts and to save money further we are seeing a return of the old traditions of pass the parcel and jelly and ice cream.

I spoke to Ed Cima who has been having out of body experiences since the age of nine but it wasn't until he tried mediation that he learned he was able to take himself to an OB State (out of body) at will and meet everything from buddha, UFO's and aliens. Ed told me about his experiences and how he has written a book Ed's Odyssey - How I met Buddha and the Aliens covers his experiences as a small child, living in the Tower of London for five years, overcoming addiction, starting a family and a successful business and then finally learning how to harness the unique power of his mind.

I discovered that World music day is coming up and then I was looking through some old audio from when Lara and I did Hospital Radio.
A patient called Darren called us at the studio to say we were doing a good job. It was always nice to hear that from somebody in the wards as it was the view of the patient that mattered. I had already met Darren earlier that day as I walked around the ward and recorded audio with a number of patients including Darren.
When Darren called us we had such a lovely chat about music and Lara told us about music tat inspires her as well.
