William Hung was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States when he was in 4th grade. When he was studying for his MBA from Marist College in New York, he submitted a 50-page research paper talking about one of the biggest online poker companies in the world, Amaya. He took what he learned about creating systems in the gaming world into the real world:improving work, health, and relationships.
Have you ever gone from zero to hero, and BACK to zero? This was the feeling he experienced after traveling and performing full-time for about 4 years. He was treated like a king after his initial rise from American Idol fame back in 2004. But as expected, nothing THIS good can last forever. At that point, he thought he made the rational choice: going back to school, get a degree, and get a stable job. But then, one of his friends reminded him in 2017 how his first album “Inspiration” was a top seller not because of his singing talent. Instead, it was because of his inspirational messages in between the songs. This gave him the idea for how he can do much more than entertaining people. He can actually inspire people to discover and leverage their talent. He can help people choose happiness in their daily lives.
In early 2017, he started learning everything there is to learn about professional speaking. From speaking locally to small groups to speaking at global conferences for corporations and associations, he learned how marketing yourself as a speaker effectively is just as important for having a great message to share with your audience.

All abusers learn to be abusers. The only time I have seen differently is when a person I know had a tumor on the brain. So minus any medical problems abuse is a learned behavior. It is learned through experiencing it or witnessing it. Those who witness abuse are victims as well, as it too can be traumatizing. This show will discuss the difference between victim, survivor, thriver and abuser. I will also discuss the healthy qualities of a thriver/survivor and the unhealthy qualities of an abuser.

Renata also is an accomplished songstress, poet and speaker who began writing poetry at eight years old. “At the heart of me” she states, “I am a creative”. Renata is featured in several anthologies and has appeared on numerous Radio and Television talk shows. She self -published ‘Simply Life is a Poem’ in 2010. In her own words “Artistry is not a hobby for me. The arts are my passion and ministry. Helping other release their creativity is my mission.”
Renata's journey includes being a teen parent at the age of 14. Three years later finding out that her daughter had a genetic incurable disease Sickle Cell Anemia, that she would eventually succumb from complications. Much of her story is colored by these traumatic experiences.
Shawanda will discuss the DeeCilla Comfort Center. This is the nonprofit she started to help survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and human trafficking. She plans to open a center later this year, while they are still also focused on their outreach endeavors. While most outreaches focus on awareness and what to do when something happens, their strategy is to help the community understand that “When One Hurts, We All Hurt.” She believes that often this is something we seem to overlook…how these issues impact not just one life but all within the community. Some people think they are so far removed from someone’s situation that if they ignore it, it will go away or they can pretend it does not exist.
So, her events focus on bringing the community together through collaborative programs, to heal our community from within.
My guest Bernadette is from Ireland and she will explain when she grew up abuse was a way of life toward others of another religion. She will also talk about how she broke the cycle in her family.

THIS PROGRAM ORIGINALLY AIRED ON NOVEMBER 15, 2018
Immigration has become one of the most volatile issues in the United States. One of the stories dominating the news in past weeks is the march of an estimated 5,000 or more Central American migrants to the United States. In response to the march, President Trump announced that he is sending 5,200 active duty military troops to our southern border.
There also has been and continues to be litigation in the courts regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA). The purpose of DACA is to protect eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation. Six recipients of the DACA program have sued the Trump administration over its plans to rescind the program. Fifteen states and the District of Columbia have also sued the Trump administration over its plans to end DACA.
What does all of this mean to the average American citizen? Why is immigration important to the future of the United States? What is the bigger picture that many fail to see that affects all Americans?
We will discuss these and other questions regarding immigration with my special guest for this program, Attorney Dulce Garcia, an immigration lawyer who regularly defends other immigrants in court in California, and who is one of the DACA recipients suing the Trump administration. She’s been living in the United States since her family immigrated from Mexico when she was four years old.
Listen to this very informative and enlightening program, and learn why immigration matters to everyone, and why protecting DACA, supporting the Dreamers Movement and reasonable immigration policies is so important.

As each year goes by, race relations in America become more strained and more complicated. Over the past several years we have seen a significant increase in the shooting and killing of unarmed black males by police officers. According to a tracker by the Washington Post, 232 black people were shot and killed by police in 2016 alone, and 34% of the unarmed people killed in 2016 were black.
In almost all of these killings, no charges were brought against the officers involved, or the charges were dismissed. Even with video evidence, the criminal justice system has failed to effectively investigate and prosecute officers involved in these killings.
A new page, Standing Up For Our Law Enforcement Community, premiered on the White House website shortly after President Trump took office, and stated, “The dangerous anti-police atmosphere in America is wrong. The Trump Administration will end it.” This is about as close as an administration can come to giving carte blanche to the police to continue killing black males.
We want to make it clear that this program is not a police bashing effort, and we want to state for the record that we unequivocally support those police officers who put their lives on the line every day to fulfill their oath to serve and protect their communities. However, it is obvious that there are serious problems in some police departments and with some police officers. That is what this program will discuss, featuring Mr. John Sutton, a former U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency senior executive and California law enforcement officer and attorney Jermaine Wyrick, a leading civil rights attorney from Detroit and a member of the Michigan Bar Association. The goal of this program is to find a way to restore trust between the police and the communities they serve.
Kristin Williams developed the cut it out program. This program trains beauticians to identify DVA victims and what to do after they have identified those victims. Kristin will share what she does to help abuse victims and how she started it and what you can do with your business to help those who are being abused.

"What is mental health? How can you work to improve and maintain your mental health if you don’t even know what that means?" Those questions are from an article in Psychology Today. The writer of this article, Nancy S. Buck, PhD, goes on to say, "...when it comes to mental health we can’t even define it let alone take steps to develop or improve it."
In a comprehensive new review published in Applied Psychology: Health and Well-Being, the effects of “subjective well-being”—a measure of how people evaluate their own lives—on various aspects of physical health was examined. According to lead author Edward Diener, professor of social psychology at the University of Utah, these studies have confirmed, with “almost no doubt,” that happiness really can influence health.”
In this week's program we will discuss why it is necessary to view mental health as important as physical health, and the importance happiness plays in achieving and maintaining good mental health.

During this episode of NO SLEEP, the hosts will discuss Millennials and the movement towards minimalism, specifically relating to the increased interest in tiny homes. Many millennials are adopting this idea of minimalism, and focusing their spending efforts on "experiences" rather than "stuff." What factors come into play here? And, what does this mean for future home buyers?
On this week's program we discuss "Developing and Supporting High Achieving Students." The following statement from the organization our guest represents demonstrates the need for helping African American students: "Every year, thousands of students with great minds and potential end up forfeiting available opportunities because there is a lack of knowledge and a lack of help available to them. Many students dream to be leaders and innovators but give up on those dreams because there is never anyone to guide and encourage them along the way. Other individuals have yet to even realize their true potential and therefore never push themselves to be the best version of themselves. The Arkansas Commitment is dedicated to making sure that students find an environment to grow and develop through real world experience and mentoring. We wish to make sure that the next generation of scientists, doctors, artists, educators, and politicians are prepared to take on their dreams and responsibilities."
Our special guest is Mr. Darren Morgan, Executive Director of Arkansas Commitment, a nonprofit organization created to identify academically talented African-American high school students throughout central Arkansas and guide them to become leaders of society at large as well as within the African-American community.
Regardless of where you live, you need to learn about the important work this great organization is doing, and how it may help you, your family, or your community. Join us Monday - September 24th at 7:30 PM ET | 6:30 PM CT for Developing and Supporting High Achieving Students.
We hear so much about the problems in America's public schools that one would think that our schools are a disaster. Although there are many problems, there are also many dedicated teachers working hard under very difficult circumstances, and with limited resources, to teach our children and help them achieve their full potential.
However, one of the issues that has concerned me for many years is the failure of the majority of school districts in the United States to adapt to change and employ more effective means of engaging students and the emphasis on standardized testing rather than focusing on the needs of the students. Much of this has been mandated by the federal government.
On tonight's show, we examine some of the schools that have departed from the normal methods used in most schools and who have been very successful in helping their students to excel. Our special guest is Mr. Doron Townsell, a Partner with Ember Charter School for Mindful Education, Innovation & Transformation in Brooklyn, NY.
We will discuss why these "model schools" have been able to achieve such great success, Common Core and standardized testing, the inequities in resources between schools in more affluent areas in contrast with rural and urban schools, assisting students with learning disabilities, dealing with difficult students, and much more.

We have a problem in America. Juvenile violence is rapidly increasing and too many of our youths are becoming involved in gangs and criminal activity because there is little or nothing for them to do after school and during the summer. Our guest for this week's program has found a solution that is working for many young people; theater. By providing a safe place for young people to go and an activity that they learn to love, he is helping countless young people transform their lives from what could have been one of criminal activity or the victims of crime, to one that is productive and that has unlimited possibilities for their future. Whether they remain in theater or not, just being in theater has given them confidence that they can succeed in other areas of life. Many go on to succeed in college or pursue other career goals. It is our distinct honor to welcome as our special guest, producer, director, writer, actor, musician (multiple instruments), songwriter, and poet, and outstanding humanitarian, Mr. Carlos Heredia. Tonight: Special Guest Krista Cavalieri
We will be talking about expanding financial literacy for children.
Krista started her career in a large investment bank trading foreign exchange. After seeing the debacle of the financial crisis unfold she realized she knew very little about her own personal finances. It was that experience coupled with a strong desire to move back home which prompted her to investigate a career in financial planning.
Krista started in the financial planning industry in 2010 and has seen the full gambit of what is out there. She realized rather quickly after working in a warehouse, an insurance firm, and finally with a holistic financial planning firm just what kind of advisor she wanted to be. After some time with her prior firm she realized her passion was to help her peers and younger generations. (Not really a popular idea in the traditional financial advising community.) It was through this passion that Evolve Capital was formed.
At Evolve Capital, we are planning for our generation. We are not your parent's advisors. We see your potential. We harness your accomplishments to help you conquer life.

Tonight: Guest Lynne Finch (Award-winning author)
Discussing the financial principles of her book, The No-Cash Allowance.
In her book, Finch explains that having kids start by tracking their allowance with pencil and paper gives them a visual understanding that money exists as a number. Seeing the balance change with each money event is a learning experience in itself. Giving the child responsibility for tracking their money relieves parents of trying to remember allowance payments and eliminates confusion about if or when allowances were paid. A no-cash allowance places continuing control of cash and non-cash money in the hands of the child to create a child-size version of real-life money management and responsibility that is similar to that of an adult.
She writes, blogs and speaks about kids and money. Her keen insight into the world of children resulted in several award-winning stories for children. She has received numerous awards for non-fiction as well as adult fiction. Her published writing includes how-to, humor, and opinion pieces.
Follow Lynne’s common sense approach to learn how to teach your children to manage money as a number. For more insight into the topic visit her blog at www.NoCashAllowance.com.

Tonight: Special Guest Kelli Wright - Celebration of Financial Literacy Month
Kelli's Personal Story:
I loved driving luxury cars, wearing designer clothes, eating at the best restaurants, and having fabulous vacations. But, before I knew it my life was swirling out of control. I made bad decisions, trusted the wrong people, and was in financial trouble. I was embarrassed and ashamed of what I let happen to me. Here I was an accountant, auditing billion dollar companies, and my finances were a mess. I was suffering in silence and didn’t know how I was going to get out of this mess. I came up with a budget and debt elimination plan. With a lot of trial and error, I paid off my debt, purchased a home in cash (now my rental property), and I have a savings account that I’m proud of. Finally achieving financial freedom, I can go where I want to go and do what I want to do. I’ve always known that I wanted to help people get out of debt and take control over their finances. I went to Nashville, Tennessee and received training from Dave Ramsey and his team, to coach people on financial matters. I’m excited about the opportunity to provide training for your treasure (money).
