Thanks to Coach DeMichael Lee for coming on the podcast on such short notice. Was an awesome conversation about his tenure at Gretna, playing in the Dogwood for Altavista, and the Gretna Team Camp on Friday and Saturday.

The team camp Coach Lee put together is top notch. We're talking non-stop action from 8am Friday morning until Saturday night. 20 teams are participating and of those 20, 14 made it to the postseason this past year. 3 of those made it to the state tournament. We know we are 5 months away from the season starting up, but we can't help but get excited for all of the talented players and coaches.

We hope Some of the kids that we have covered in our prospect videos and our end of the year District 2 All-Stars will be present, but maybe playing some AAU ball . Keep an eye out for these players this weekend;

Coach is a former player who saw success in her 4 seasons and scored 1k points. The Violets are back to back D3 National Champions and are on a 62 game winning streak having gone 31-0 the past two seasons. Prior to becoming the HC for NYU, Coach Barber had stints at William and Mary and Temple as an assistant coach. The guys discuss Coach Allen's background having played high school ball for the Legendary HC, Bill Pope at Northside in Roanoke. Coach Allen played college ball for the Wasps and had a successful playing career. Coach Allen then made the jump to coaching as an assistant before becoming head coach at Averett University in Danville. Coach Allen turned a down program into a winning program who made a few NCAA tournament appearances. Coach Allen made his was to West Point as an assistant at Army before becoming head coach. Coach Allen is now back at his former school and looking to take the Wasps back to the postseason.

District 2 Sports talks some region basketball play with 4 local coaches. The guys start with Salem Spartans HC, Kevin Garst, who has been at Salem for 19yrs. Salem had a solid year at 20-4 and open region play at GW-Danville. District 2 is then joined by PH-Glade Spring HC, Frederick Selfe, in his 6th year. The Rebels finished at 22-3 and claimed their 1st Hogoheegee tournament championship and 2nd district title ever. The Rebels are awaiting the winner of Twin Valley and Twin Springs. 1st year HC of the LCA Bulldogs, Matthew Klein, had a great year at 18-5 and have already gotten a taste of region play after a huge win over Rocktown. They are playing the 4 seed Wilson Memorial. E.C. Glass basketball is the #1 seed in the south for Region 4D. DJ Best is in his 7th season as the HC and is looking to get back to VCU as he did just a couple years ago.
