In this solo episode, I take you behind the scenes as I begin Phase III of the Live Hard program, the final 30-day phase of Andy Frisella's year-long mental toughness challenge.
I share why I committed to completing the entire Live Hard program, what the daily requirements involve, and why I believe the greatest growth happens when we intentionally step outside our comfort zones.

At 72 years old, I have no interest in slowing down. My goal is to become healthier, stronger, and more intentional with each passing year. This challenge is about far more than exercise or checking off daily tasks. It's about developing the mindset to become the best version of yourself.
In This Episode * Why I chose to complete the Live Hard program * What 75 Hard, Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III involve * The daily habits I'm committing to for the next 30 days * Why discipline creates freedom * How a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle supports long-term health and performance * The value of daily acts of kindness and meaningful conversations with strangers * Why I want to be "an example of what's possible rather than a warning of what not to do"

What really happens behind the closed doors of slaughterhouses and factory farms?
In this unforgettable episode of the Plant Based Eating for Health podcast, hosted by Kathleen Gage, award-winning investigator and author Gail Eisnitz pulls back the curtain on one of the most hidden industries in America. As Chief Investigator for the Humane Farming Association, Gail has spent decades documenting cruelty inside slaughterhouses, pig farms, poultry facilities, dairy operations, and industrial farming systems most consumers never see.
This is not a surface-level conversation. Gail shares firsthand accounts of what she uncovered during undercover investigations, including the realities of slaughterhouse line speeds, animal suffering, worker trauma, and the enormous emotional toll the industry takes on both animals and humans.
The discussion explores why so much of this suffering remains hidden from public view and how government policies, industry pressure, and consumer disconnect have allowed these systems to continue operating largely out of sight. Gail also explains how her groundbreaking investigative work helped expose conditions inside slaughterhouses and contributed to increased national attention surrounding enforcement of humane slaughter laws.
Kathleen and Gail dive deep into:
• The difference between factory farms and slaughterhouses • What really happens inside industrial pig, poultry, and cattle operations • The psychological trauma experienced by slaughterhouse workers • Why "humane slaughter" remains highly controversial • The impact of extreme slaughter line speeds • How investigative journalism helped expose hidden cruelty • The role of the Humane Farming Association in advocating for change • Why awareness and education are critical to creating compassion • Gail's deeply personal journey chronicled in her memoir Out of Sight
Gail also opens up about living with a rare neurological disorder that went undiagnosed for decades while conducting some of the most emotionally difficult investigative work imaginable. Her story is one of extraordinary resilience, courage, and commitment to exposing suffering many people would rather ignore.
This episode is emotional, eye-opening, and deeply thought-provoking. Whether you are vegan, plant-based, curious about animal welfare, or simply wanting to better understand the hidden realities behind modern food systems, this conversation will leave a lasting impact.

In this solo episode of Plant-Based Eating for Health, host Kathleen Gage reflects on how her vegan journey has evolved since first identifying as vegan in 2018 and why food was only the beginning.
Kathleen examines four books that deeply influenced her understanding of veganism as a broader ethical and social responsibility:
• Vegan Transformation by Dr. Angela Crawford • The Impactful Vegan by Robert Cheeke • Little Red Barns by Will Potter • Transfarmation by Leah Garcés
These works explore animal suffering alongside the often-overlooked human rights violations, environmental damage, and systemic exploitation tied to animal agriculture.
Kathleen also discusses how this expanded awareness led her to become more actively involved in advocacy, including joining the board of Blue Barn Farm and Sanctuary, producing The Funding Blueprint for Sanctuaries Summit hosted by Cheryl Moss, and supporting the mission of the Better Life for Animals podcast. The summit was sponsored by Better Life for Animals and WIZE and focused on helping animal sanctuaries build long-term, sustainable funding.
This episode invites listeners to consider what it means when veganism moves beyond diet into responsibility, education, and action.

Each year, over 70 billion land animals are slaughtered for food. While the physical health and ethical implications of this are well-documented, what often goes unnoticed are the emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual shifts that occur when someone steps away from that system and embraces a fully vegan lifestyle.
Dr. Angela Crawford, clinical psychologist and longtime vegan, appeared on the Plant Based Eating for Health podcast to discuss her groundbreaking book, The Vegan Transformation. This book goes far beyond what’s on your plate. It offers insight into how living vegan creates a ripple effect through every area of a person’s life.
A Research-Based Exploration of Vegan Living
The Vegan Transformation is built on a solid foundation of research. Dr. Crawford collected surveys from over 345 vegans between April 2021 and April 2022 and conducted 75 in-depth interviews over the course of a year. Her findings highlight a powerful truth: going vegan is often a catalyst for profound personal transformation.
These transformations include:
More Than a Diet — A Shift in Identity and Worldview
As someone who has lived a vegan lifestyle for several years, I’ve read many books on the plant-based movement. Most emphasize physical health benefits or animal ethics. But Dr. Crawford’s work stands apart. She takes readers on a journey that reveals how veganism touches the soul.
Whether it’s the sense of relief that comes from no longer contributing to animal suffering, or the joy of living in alignment with deeply held beliefs, The Vegan Transformation shows us that veganism is not just a diet — it’s a doorway to a more peaceful, meaningful life.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 80% of older adults in the United States have at least one chronic condition, and 50% have two or more. Many of these conditions—such as Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis—are linked to lifestyle factors, which means they can often be prevented or managed through diet and exercise. Angela Fischetti, a plant-based wellness advocate and fitness expert, is on a mission to help older adults overcome these challenges and live healthier, more vibrant lives.
A Journey Rooted in Compassion and Wellness
Angela’s journey toward a plant-based lifestyle began in 1987 after reading John Robbins’ Diet for a New America. Inspired by its call to action for health, animals, and the environment, she transitioned to veganism over the course of three years. Her decision was more than a dietary change—it was a complete lifestyle shift that aligned with her passion for empowering others to live well.
The Power of Movement at Any Age
Angela’s expertise lies in helping older adults build strength, improve mobility, and regain confidence through fitness. Her work focuses on resistance training, yoga, and personalized wellness plans, all designed to meet the unique needs of seniors. For Angela, fitness is more than exercise—it’s a tool for healing and self-discovery.
Challenging the Status Quo on Aging
Angela believes that many societal norms around aging—like accepting chronic disease as inevitable—need to be challenged. She encourages her clients to take control of their health through informed choices about diet, movement, and self-awareness.

Americans consume over 60% of their calories from ultra-processed foods, according to a study published in The BMJ. Julie Davis, a former aerospace engineer, was once among them. Fueled by fast food, sugary coffees, and Coke floats, her diet left her feeling decades older than her age. She had no idea the profound impact her food choices were having on her health—until a series of eye-opening moments set her on a transformative journey.
A Diet of Fast Food and Fatigue
Julie’s health struggles began in her early 20s while working as an airplane refueler at an airport. Living on burgers, fries, and ice cream sodas, she found herself constantly fatigued despite her active lifestyle. “I was 21 years old but felt like I was 80,” Julie recalls. Hiking, a passion of hers, became a chore as she struggled to muster the energy for even short trails.
Years later, as a busy engineer, she attempted to shed extra pounds through fad diets and SlimFast shakes but found no lasting success. “I thought I was the unlucky sister, the one who was just big-boned,” Julie says. It wasn’t until 2008, when she stumbled upon Food Revolution by John Robbins at a vegan diner, that the pieces began to fall into place.
Opening Her Eyes to a New Way of Living
Robbins’ book introduced Julie to the environmental and ethical implications of food choices, sparking her curiosity to learn more. Over the years, she devoured resources like Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals, the documentary Forks Over Knives, and works by plant-based experts like Dr. Michael Greger and Dr. Joel Fuhrman.
Despite her growing knowledge, Julie didn’t fully commit to a plant-based lifestyle right away. It wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic that she decided to make a permanent change. Motivated by a desire to protect her family’s health, she transitioned from “80% vegan” to 100% plant-based, and the results were life-changing.
From Engineer to Plant-Based Health Coach
Julie’s transformation didn’t stop at her personal life. After leaving her engineering career to raise her children, she began exploring ways to turn her passion for plant-based living into a career. Returning to school, she earned a Master’s degree in lifestyle health sciences and coaching, equipping herself with the tools to help others achieve their health goals.
Today, Julie Davis Coaching focuses on women aged 40 and older, guiding them through a 12-week transition to plant-based eating. Her approach emphasizes gradual, sustainable changes, starting with simple habits like modifying breakfast and building a supportive environment. Dr. Carol Wroblewski, once approaching 300 pounds, has transformed her health journey into a mission to help others achieve sustainable wellness. As a guest on Plant Based Eating for Health podcast, hosted by Kathleen Gage, Dr. Wroblewski shares her inspiring shift from battling personal health struggles to guiding others through the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. Her story serves as a powerful reminder of how compassionate choices can lead to lasting health and resilience.
From Personal Challenge to Plant-Based Lifestyle Dr. Wroblewski’s journey toward health began in 2005, during a time of personal struggle. Her weight had reached nearly 300 pounds, and her doctor warned her that serious health complications would follow unless she made a change. Faced with this turning point, Dr. Wroblewski committed to losing weight naturally and sustainably. She first focused on removing sugar and limiting her meals to three structured, balanced servings each day. This approach helped her gradually release over 100 pounds—a weight loss she has maintained for nearly two decades.
Navigating Bariatric Care with a Plant-Based Perspective With years of experience counseling patients before and after bariatric surgery, Dr. Wroblewski has become a trusted resource in the field. Rather than undergoing surgery herself, she focused on addressing the emotional and mental aspects of weight loss with her patients. Her expertise helps individuals understand that true, lasting change often requires mental shifts alongside physical efforts. She also highlights the importance of sustainable, plant-based eating as a healthier alternative to processed foods and quick fixes.

It’s not every day that you encounter someone who has devoted virtually their entire life to veganism. Charlotte Cressey, founder of The Vegan Paradigm Shift, embodies this commitment. Charlotte’s journey began at an incredibly young age, sparked by a loving connection with her family dog, Whimsy. At just three years old, she had a moment of realization that the animals on her plate were no different than her beloved pets. This early awareness set her on a lifelong path to advocate for animals, nature, and compassionate living.
By age twelve, Charlotte fully identified as vegan, a commitment born not just from her innate empathy but also from a deep and early understanding of ethical principles. Her journey to veganism was gradual, shaped by intense personal experiences and a natural inclination to question societal norms. Through The Vegan Paradigm Shift, Charlotte seeks to guide others toward that same transformation, one rooted in love, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to kindness.
A Spiritual Connection to Veganism
Charlotte’s vegan journey intertwines deeply with her spiritual path. Raised with a natural curiosity about the world beyond the physical, she felt a unique connection to both the animal kingdom and the spirit realm. “Life is not just this physical, tangible world,” she explains, describing how this early spiritual sensitivity developed into a profound sense of responsibility for all living beings. The vegan lifestyle, for Charlotte, is not merely a dietary choice but a holistic way of life that aligns body, mind, and spirit with the values of non-violence and universal love.
Exploring Eco-Feminism: Reclaiming Compassion for All Beings
Central to Charlotte’s philosophy is eco-feminism—a framework that examines the interconnected exploitation of women, animals, and nature. She explains that in many cultures, women and animals are both marginalized and objectified, often viewed as resources to be used rather than beings to be respected. Eco-feminism sheds light on how the language we use and the cultural norms we follow perpetuate these beliefs, and it seeks to reframe these relationships through a lens of respect and cooperation. Charlotte believes that the domination of animals and the environment is inherently tied to societal gender biases, and by recognizing these patterns, we can foster a more compassionate world.

Research shows that a whole food, plant-based diet combined with regular strength training can drastically improve overall health, from reducing inflammation to enhancing muscle recovery and longevity. Karina Inkster, a vegan fitness expert, embodies these beliefs and benefits. In a recent interview on the Plant-Based Eating for Health podcast, hosted by Kathleen Gage, Karina shared her inspiring journey as a vegan of 21 years, offering insights on fitness, aging, and how to thrive on a plant-based diet.
Karina's Early Vegan Journey: From 16 to 21 Years Strong Karina’s commitment to veganism began at the age of 16, driven by her desire to take a stand against animal cruelty. Her journey started even earlier, at 11, when she went vegetarian. Despite the lack of today’s resources like YouTube or social media, she educated herself by spending hours in libraries, and over time, she realized the deep connections between meat, dairy, and eggs. This led to her full transition to veganism. "Once I connected the dots, I went vegan immediately," Karina explained.
Navigating Trolls and Negative Comments as a Vegan With the rise of social media, Karina has encountered trolls and negative comments about veganism. Instead of letting these interactions drag her down, she has turned them into opportunities for education. "I engage with trolls for my own amusement and to educate others who may be reading," Karina shared. She knows she’s unlikely to change the minds of those actively trolling, but her focus is on the potential impact her responses might have on silent observers.
Her advice for others? Manage your expectations. If engaging with trolls negatively impacts your mental health, avoid it altogether. Instead, like Karina, use these encounters as fuel for content, whether blog posts or educational social media responses.
Authoring Vegan Books: A Passion Project Karina is not only a fitness expert but also a prolific author with five books to her name. Her favorite book, The Vegan Athlete, is the updated edition of her debut, Vegan Vitality. While some of her books came to life through her publisher’s requests, The Vegan Athlete is a passion project, focusing on scientific research and practical tips for vegan athletes.
For aspiring authors who feel overwhelmed by the idea of writing a full book, Karina’s advice is simple: start small. "A lot of people get stuck thinking they have to write a whole book all at once. But if you break it down, write one page a day, or a couple of pages a week, you’ll get there."

The evidence supporting the power of plant-based diets to prevent and reverse chronic diseases like heart disease and type 2 diabetes continues to grow. On a recent episode of the Plant-Based Eating for Health podcast, host Kathleen Gage interviewed personal trainer and health coach Kate Galli, who shared her insights into how lifestyle changes, particularly a whole food, plant-based diet, can dramatically improve health outcomes.
The Gap in Nutrition Education for Health Care Professionals
Despite the significant role nutrition plays in managing and preventing chronic conditions, many health care professionals receive little to no formal training in this area. Both Galli and Gage touched on the concerning fact that doctors, nurses, and other health professionals are often left to seek nutrition information on their own, despite the overwhelming evidence that lifestyle choices can make a huge difference in health.
Galli noted that this trend is not just a problem in the United States but is also prevalent in Australia. She expressed her belief that more time should be allocated to teaching health care professionals about the impact of nutrition on chronic diseases. "If lifestyle factors can be 80 to 90% of what prevents and cures our biggest killers, then nutrition should be a priority in medical education," Galli emphasized.
Working with Families and Raising Vegan Children
Galli discussed the challenges families face when raising vegan children in a world where animal-based foods are often the norm. While she has worked primarily with adult clients, Galli shared her concern over the false narratives often given to children regarding where their food comes from.
She emphasized the importance of being truthful with children and supporting their natural compassion. For families considering raising vegan children, Galli recommends connecting with professionals who have successfully done so, as they can offer both guidance and credibility.
Onboarding New Clients: The Importance of Values and Goals
As a seasoned personal trainer, Galli detailed her approach to onboarding new clients, whether they are transitioning to plant-based eating or seeking to improve their overall health. During the initial consultation, Galli prioritizes understanding the client’s core values and emotional motivations behind their health goals.
"Knowing the 'why' is essential," Galli explained. This not only helps clients stay focused but also allows her to support them more effectively when they face challenges or experience a dip in motivation. Galli has found that clients who start with strong emotional connections to their goals are more likely to succeed in the long term.

An Astonishing Fact: Diabetes Can Be Reversed
Did you know that Type II diabetes, a condition often thought to require lifelong medication, can actually be reversed through a plant-based diet? This incredible insight, along with many others, was shared by Peggy Kraus, an expert in reversing diabetes and promoting plant-based nutrition, on the Plant Based Eating for Health podcast, hosted by Kathleen Gage.
In this episode, Peggy dives deep into the power of plant-based eating and how it can transform lives. With a background in exercise physiology and plant-based nutrition, Peggy's mission is to help individuals reclaim their health by making smarter food choices.
A Leader in Reversing Diabetes Peggy Kraus has spent over 15 years working with individuals diagnosed with Type II diabetes, helping them regain control over their health without the use of excessive medication. Peggy’s work with the Wellness Foundation, where she interacted with plant-based pioneers such as Dr. Joel Fuhrman and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, solidified her passion for whole food, plant-based nutrition.
Her research and real-world experience have shown that people can successfully reverse Type II diabetes through dietary changes. Peggy firmly believes that Type II diabetes is not a lifelong sentence and that it’s possible to eliminate the need for medications through a shift to healthy, plant-based eating.
The Power of Plant-Based Eating for Health During the podcast episode, Peggy shared her own journey into plant-based living, which began in 2005. At the time, there were very few resources available for those looking to transition away from animal products. Peggy's experience working alongside top medical professionals in the plant-based world helped her realize the profound impact of this lifestyle on chronic diseases like diabetes.
According to Peggy, one of the most important things people can do to improve their health is to reduce or eliminate the consumption of animal products and processed foods. In doing so, they can prevent, and in many cases, reverse chronic conditions such as Type II diabetes.
Why Type II Diabetes is Reversible Type II diabetes is often seen as a progressive, lifelong condition requiring medication to manage. However, Peggy explained on the podcast that Type II diabetes is actually a diet-driven disease. By cutting out high-fat, processed foods and embracing a whole food, plant-based diet, individuals can eliminate excess fat from their muscle tissue, which helps to restore insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels.
Peggy detailed how she has seen people reverse their diabetes in just a matter of weeks by making these changes. She emphasized that with the right guidance and dedication, anyone can significantly improve their health and even eliminate the need for diabetes medications.

In a world filled with various dietary choices, the decision to embrace a vegan lifestyle is often more than just a change in what's on your plate; it's a profound transformation that touches every aspect of your life. For Camilla Clare Brinkworth, this transformation has been nothing short of extraordinary.
Camilla's journey to veganism began with a deep sense of compassion for animals and a growing awareness of the environmental impact of our dietary choices. She realized that choosing to be vegan was not just about what she was eating; it was about adopting a holistic philosophy that aligned with her values of kindness, sustainability, and overall well-being.
Chronic pain was a constant companion in Camilla's life until she decided to make the switch to a whole food plant-based diet. Within weeks of going vegan, she experienced a remarkable reduction in her pain levels, particularly in her neck, where she had been suffering from arthritis. The pain that had once been a daily burden gradually disappeared, leaving her with a newfound sense of freedom and vitality.
But the benefits of veganism didn't stop there. Camilla's mood improved significantly as she continued to incorporate more plant-based foods into her diet. She transitioned from being an unhappy individual to waking up every day with gratitude and joy. Her baseline became one of positivity, and she couldn't be happier with the transformation.
Today, Camilla Brinkworth is not only an advocate for veganism but also a living testament to its transformative power. She embraces a lifestyle that prioritizes non-cruelty to animals, environmental sustainability, and individual health. Her journey showcases the incredible potential for change that lies within each of us.
Camilla is also passionate about raising awareness of sustainable alternatives to traditional dietary choices, such as aji flower oil, which she believes can revolutionize the way we approach health and nutrition.

The Power of Plant-Based Eating: Insights from My Conversation with Wanda Huberman
As the host of the "Plant-Based Eating for Health" podcast show, I had the incredible opportunity to interview Wanda Huberman, the Executive Director of the National Health Association (NHA).
Our conversation provided valuable insights into Wanda's personal journey, the mission of the NHA, and the upcoming 75th anniversary conference.
Wanda's Transformative Journey

Through attending conferences, reading books, and engaging with experts, Wanda gradually transitioned from a conventional diet to vegetarianism and eventually embraced a fully plant-based lifestyle. Her motivation expanded beyond personal health to encompass compassion for animals and a desire to create a sustainable future.
Understanding Healthy Plant-Based Eating
Wanda and I delved into the topic of healthy plant-based eating, clarifying the confusion surrounding different terms associated with plant-based diets.
She emphasized the importance of a whole-food, minimally processed approach, focusing on nutrient-rich plant foods. Her daily meal choices include large chopped salads, smoothies packed with greens, and simple, yet flavorful, whole-food meals.
Wanda highlighted the simplicity and versatility of plant-based eating, making it accessible to everyone.
The Vision of the National Health Association
As the Executive Director of the NHA, Wanda expressed her vision for the organization. A primary goal is to reach a diverse audience and expand resources to educate and empower families on plant-based living.

Initially skeptical, Dr. Corassa found the switch to a raw food diet positively impacted his health almost instantly. In this episode of the Plant-Based Eating for Health podcast, I have the distinct pleasure of talking with Jason Demchoc, a chef and lifestyle medicine enthusiast who shares his personal journey towards a whole food plant-based diet.
Jason shared how meeting with Dr. Lou, an MD with expertise in environmental toxins and hormones, changed his life by recommending a plant-based diet. This conversation highlights the power of lifestyle medicine and the importance of making conscious food choices for our health.
In particular, the episode focuses on the benefits of fermenting vegetables for improved gut health and overall well-being.
Fermentation is an age-old process that has been used for over 8,000 years to preserve vegetables by selectively breeding probiotics that protect food from bad bacteria. Jason explains that fermenting creates a whole ecosystem of bacteria inside the food, which can lead to improved gut health, digestion, and nutrient absorption.
Fermenting is also an easy and fun process to learn, and Jason encourages listeners to try fermenting at home. He even offers a free lesson to anyone who contacts him after listening to the podcast.
Jason and I discuss the harmful effects of consuming animal products and processed foods, and the importance of incorporating a variety of colorful vegetables in one's diet.
We touch on the addictive nature of cheese, the harm caused by dairy farming, and the role of food manufacturers in creating products that are designed to be addictive. The conversation emphasizes the importance of the microbiome and how plant-based diets can heal the gut.
To start a basic plant-based diet, Jason recommends beginning with greens, organic beans, apples, and cucumbers. He also recommends using whole food dressings such as tahini and balsamic vinegar.
If you're interested in trying your hand at fermenting vegetables, Jason recommends using mason jars with fermentation tops, which are available on Amazon. He emphasizes the importance of cleanliness when fermenting and recommends using organic vegetables for the best results.
This episode of the Plant-Based Eating for Health podcast highlights the power of fermenting vegetables for improved gut health and overall well-being. By adopting a whole food plant-based diet and incorporating fermented vegetables into your meals, you can take control of your health and enjoy the benefits of a healthier gut. So why not give it a try?

What started as a simple tweet, turned into an episode on the Plant Based Eating for Health Show with Dr. Matthew Nagra.
The response to the tweet was incredible, and obviously hit a nerve with thousands of men and women around the globe.
“Why is it that no one seems to bat an eye when a parent feed their kids unhealthy, garbage fast food, but the minute they say, "I'm raising my children on a healthy, whole food, plant-based diet" people scream child abuse? Really?? Have u checked stats on disease & obesity 4 kids?”
Based on the responses the tweet received, I put out a request to my Twitter followers for a medical professional who advocates for children eating a healthy, plant-based diet.
Within minutes I received a message from Dr. Nagra, who had been referred to me from my friend and colleague, Sandra Nomoto.
Sandra is the author of the newly released book, Vegan Marketing Success Stories.
Connections Matter
One thing about the vegan community is people know people. Based on the recommendation by Sandra, followed by watching a previous interview Dr. Nagra did about the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle for children, I just knew I had to have him on the show.
Dr. Nagra grew up in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. From a young age he struggled with multiple health issues such asthma, allergies, and weight management.
It wasn’t until taking control of his own health and transitioning to a plant-based diet that Dr. Nagra noticed significant improvements, which were ultimately the catalyst for the career he chose. His mission is to help others do the same.

Immersing herself in the book, Linda took the information to heart. Within a few days of implementing Dr. McDougall’s information, Linda began to feel better.

When I began Plant Based Eating for Health Podcast show, little did I know where my journey would take me.
Join me as I pull back the curtain on my progression from a plant-based eater, who vowed to never identify as a vegan, to now hosting two shows; this one, and Vegan Visibility Podcast show.
Going further into the plant-based lifestyle, I'm finding it to be one of the most spectacular experiences of my life.
What started as an experiment for my health, turned into becoming a voice for the voiceless, a concerned citizen for the Climate Crisis and a woman in her late sixties more committed to health than ever before.

Over the past decade, there has been a marked decline in the health of our children as well as an increase in obesity.
According to the CDC, in 2018, the prevalence of obesity was 19.3% (14.4 million) children and adolescents. As well, obesity percentages increase with age and race. It’s well documented that obesity puts anyone at a much higher risk for highly preventable diseases.
Children are innocent victims with the prevalence of profits over people initiatives by the food industry.
With food manufacturers continuing to produce unhealthy choices for consumers, this has had a major trickle-down impact on the overall school lunch programs throughout the United States.
While many parents are not even aware of how unhealthy the school food programs actually are, one woman who is on a mission to change the way children are fed in schools is Maria Solanki.
Trying a number of ways to have an impact, including completing a 500-page charter school application that took years to completed due to the complexity of the research involved, Maria turned the denial of the application as fuel for her life’s work; improve the food selections within the school system in her area.
From a concerned mother to a political candidate, Maria is merely scratching the surface of the changes she plans to be a part of through her political platform. http://www.mariaforstudents.com
Disrupting the food industry, one nugget at a time, Nowadays is re-defining what cravings for junk foods are all about. Fried junk foods are often thought of as guilty pleasures, but healthier options don’t usually quite scratch that itch to indulge.
At Nowadays, co-founder and CEO, Max Elder, doesn’t think cravings should come with a side of guilt. Nor should food damage your body or the planet to be delicious.
Nowadays, a venture-backed food tech startup making Plant-Based meats, with only a few simple ingredients and an unparalleled nutritional profile, is fast becoming a favorite of those who want a healthier option to current food choices.
Nuggets Lead the Way
Nowadays’ flagship product, tasty Plant-Based nuggets, made with a handful of simple ingredients, is overwhelmingly approved by the harshest food critics, children.
Nuggets are the perfect category for Nowadays. According to Elder, nuggets is about an $8 billion category in the United States.
With health in mind, the Nowadays nuggets have seven simple ingredients. Hands down, it has the cleanest ingredient list and the best nutritional profile of any nugget on the market; Plant-Based or animal-based.
Unlike many Plant-Based foods, the ingredients the Nowadays nuggets are easy to recognize and pronounce; organic, non-GMO yellow peas grown by US farmers; yeast and mushroom extracts for a distinct meaty flavor; whole wheat for a wholesome and crunchy breading; maple fiber to replace eggs; and a bit of sunflower oil for both golden color and fried crunchiness.

If you are not one who frequents TikTok, this post may not make sense. However, if you’ve been on TikTok for any length of time, you know it can be like going into the Twilight Zone.
It was actually during a recent visit to TikTok that I was compelled to write this post and release the most current episode on the Plant Based Eating for Health podcast show.
Let me preface by saying that TikTok is a great way to unwind at the end of the day and watch funny animal videos, heartwarming rescue videos, vegan recipe videos, and success journeys of people turning their lives around.
It’s a harmless way, so I thought, to enjoy the perspective of men and women around the globe.
Yet, every so often, a video pops up that you have to wonder, “What is the person thinking?”
Granted, the question, in and of itself is judgmental, but as humans, we do tend to judge. Not many people escape the clutches of judgement. Some more than others.
On this particular occasion, a video came in my thread of a woman who was morbidly, morbidly obese, sitting in front of dozens of cheeseburgers, tacos, fries, cupcakes, and several large plastic cups of soda.
Now please know, this is not at all about fat shaming… at all. However, it is about questioning why someone would find it necessary to prop themselves up in front of the camera to literally stuff their face with untold amounts of unhealthy food.
You can well imagine the comments people left about her gluttonous ways, to which her canned response was, “I feel great, and I am healthy.”
Likely neither are true, but she stands by her statement.
Sadly, young people are being influenced by these types of videos. Currently, there is a major health crisis going on. One that began long before the pandemic and shutdowns.
There has been an increase in virtually every type of disease, obesity is an epidemic unto itself, contributing to many preventable diseases.

After losing his father to alcohol, his mother to multiple sclerosis and his brother to schizophrenia, his family unit had fallen apart.
This resulted in severe chronic depression leading to suicidal depression.
After attempting suicide twice, Geoff realized he needed to take control of his emotions, but how to do so was a mystery.

Years ago, a diagnosis of dementia was a rarity. Today, it is becoming something society has grown accustomed to hearing. Not that we like it, by any stretch of the imagination, but we are used to it. One person who is doing what she can to raise awareness about food that can minimize the risks of dementia is Alexi Bracey.
Alexi is a health coach who specializes in preventative measures for optimizing health. She is an educator of nutrition and conducts classes using vegan and raw foods to create easy, healthy every day, and special occasion, meals.
Currently, dementia is in epidemic proportions. Women are three times more prone to being diagnosed with dementia than women.
A huge factor with the increase is agrochemicals. These are chemicals used in agriculture, such as a pesticide or a fertilizer. They are sprayed on our food by farmers.
About Alexi Bracey
After overcoming life threatening health challenge by changing her lifestyle, Alexi's quest for optimum health led to studies in Iridology, Natural Nutrition, Living Ayurveda Food, Detox Diets and Raw Food.
Alexi was the Executive Chef at Grail Springs Wellness Spa (Canada’s only environmental Detox Spa). Alexi successfully introduced the alkaline diet, macrobiotic diet, juicing and a Living Food diet to complement the detox programs to the SPA clients. Long before people knew how to pronounce the word vegan, Paul Shapiro was inspired to not consume animal or dairy. His decision was based on being compassionate to animals.
Although Paul didn’t have anywhere near the knowledge he has today, he knew the animals were not being treated well. This was when the seeds of activism were planted.
Paul’s activism began by writing letters to animal welfare organizations. This was back in the day that there was no email, Internet, or social media.
Yet, even though Paul was committed to learning more about being vegan, he didn’t realize he could be healthy by eliminating all meat. He felt it was like holding his breath. There is only so long you can hold your breath and he felt there was only so long he could go without meat.
Yet, nearly 30 years later, he has been 100% without meat and dairy and performs at an incredibly high physical and emotional level.
Life as a vegan is made easier by the fact that his wife, Toni Okamoto, a highly successful social media influencer, is also vegan. The author of three very successful vegan/plant-based cookbooks, Toni is most well known for her branding and highly successful book, Plant Based on a Budget.
Both Toni and Paul were vegan before meeting one another yet having this in common was a huge plus to their attraction to one another.
As the author of the highly successful book, Clean Meat; How Growing Meat Without Animals Will Revolutionize Dinner and the World and founder/CEO of the Better Meat Co., Paul is quick to say he lives in his wife’s shadow.

How does one go from a high performing Marine to a morbidly obese Type II diabetic to being mistaken for a sumo wrestler by a young boy to losing 180 pounds, finding their life’s work as a Diabetes Lifestyle Coach & Food for Life Instructor? Dennis Jones has done this and more.
Growing up in rural America, Dennis saw a concerning part of America that some people overlooked. When his family moved into the city and provided him with a private school education, he still saw the ravages of poor health across the economic and social spectrum.
He started his career as a Health & Life Insurance broker, working with individuals and organizations to develop health insurance solutions with cost containment strategies.
Over time, he realized that cost containment was more than just financial. After leaving the US Marines, Dennis’ health began to decline. His weight jumped to nearly 350 pounds, and he developed high blood pressure and cholesterol and Type 2 diabetes.
Despite becoming vegetarian and losing weight for about a year, the lack of structure and guidance led him back to his old ways.
A few years later, he nearly suffered a heart attack and was told he needed a double stent or bypass surgery. Neither option was ideal, and Dennis faced taking medications and making a significant lifestyle change.
One day, while looking for a healthy plant-based restaurant, he discovered GreenFare, an educational restaurant offering organic, whole food, plant-based meals. There, he saw a flyer for the Barnard Medical Center and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and on the spot, he signed up for the 21-day challenge to improve his health outcomes.
Having faced his own mortality, Dennis woke up to making drastic changes. Under the guidance of Dr. James Loomis and Nutritionist Susan Levin, his life changed. He explored lifestyle management strategies built on evidence-based medical research and studied as a Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN).
From there, he became a certified Food & Lifestyle Coach and Food for Life (FFL) Instructor through the PCRM, and he has not looked back since.
He got his numbers in check and eliminated his diabetes medications. Today, he teaches, coaches, and speaks about food because of a deep desire to improve people’s health and quality of life.
As a FFL Instructor, he teaches whole food plant[1]based cooking, and shows people how they can eat healthy for $50 per week. He provides both one-on-one and group coaching.
Because of his own health journey, his practice focus is on diabetes & heart disease food and lifestyle management. Working under the guidelines of the American Diabetes Association, he also moderates a diabetes peer support group for the Barnard Medical Center, and speaks about motivational and lifestyle changes. Dennis is also a disabled Veteran of the US Marine Corps.

When people travel, one of the ways they enjoy a new destination is through food. Yet, as a vegan, this can be a challenge. Enter vegan travel expert, Rebecca Gade Sawicki.
Rebecca is the creator of Veggies Abroad, travel blog. Veggies Abroad was born from her love of travel, and the question she gets asked after every trip, "What in the world did you eat?" Her blog features vegan travel guides, practical travel tips, resources, and vegan lifestyle content.
Rebecca dealt with several food sensitivities which caused countless problems. It was her food issues that led her on a journey of discovery that has opened her two greatest passions: food and travel.
With food issues at the forefront, she explored the connection between food and athletic performance. As a runner, she was anxious to find ways to improve her performance in a healthy way.
She’ll be the first to admit she didn’t always eat the healthiest, but as she discovered the power of food as medicine, she took the necessary steps to eat as healthy as possible.
The further into her research, the more the veils were lifted. She discovered the cruelty in the animal agriculture. Yet, it took a while to accept that dairy was equally as bad as meat.
Rebecca teaches people to fully engage all five senses to totally immerse yourself in the experience of a delicious meal, appetizer, or dessert.
Aside from being vegan, Rebecca is gluten free and sensitive to a slew of things, so people assume once she leaves her home, starvation must occur. She is determined to show people all the amazing vegan food the world has to offer.
Through her blog, she wants to connect readers with the stories behind the amazing food with interviews from great vegan chefs and entrepreneurs.

Stephanie Redcross West started Vegan Mainstream based on a simple idea: to build a pro-vegan world, we need a solid infrastructure of successful businesses and brands to ensure that an ethical lifestyle is accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Ask virtually anybody if the pandemic was a bad thing and most would say, “Yes!” Yet, although there were many negatives as a result of COVID-19, there were considerable positives.
Two obvious positive changes are 1) more people are choosing to eliminate meat and dairy from their diet 2) online shopping has increased substantially thereby minimizing the impact of people making needless trips to the corner grocery store for one or two items.
Combine the two and you have a winning formula.
Such is the case for Kory Zelickson, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vejii, an online platform for those looking for vegan options in food, cosmetics, cleaners and more.
With over 15 years of demonstrated experience in innovation and technology, launching successful e-commerce, and technology startups, Kory is very hopeful of trends in the vegan and plant-based markets which makes him optimistic about the future.

When it comes to reading labels, Sophia DeSantis is in a league all her own. Not only does she unravel the lies hidden on labels, she also teaches her clients how to do the same.
Sophia’s journey into plant-based eating began with her husband’s health was becoming a huge concern. After having two babies within 15 months of each other, the stress for both Sophia an her husband was mounting. Sophia’s husband was on high blood pressure medication and cholesterol medication, and had bee most of his adult life. The medication was not working like it had, which added to their concerns and stress.
Fortunately, the cardiologist was very forward thinking. He gave Sophia’s husband a couple of choices. One, keep doing what you’re doing and increase medications or change his diet to one that was more plant based.
Having grown up in a Greek household, this was not a change they anticipated.
Both Sophia and her husband consumed meat and dairy as part of their food protocol.
The cardiologist recommended the documentary, Forks Over Knives. This was a life changing decision for the DeSantis family.
They decided to try a dramatic change for at least 21 days. They eliminated gluten, sugar, alcohol, all animal products from the start.

From a bona-fide couch-potato to climbing Mount Kailash and Mount Kilimanjaro, skydiving, finishing several marathons, riding in a 100-mile bike ride and making a complete change of diet, Dr. Akil Taher is living proof that you’re never too old to turn your life around.
At the age of 73, Dr. Taher is just getting started. Prior to changing from the S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) to a 100% whole food, plant based diet, void of all animal and dairy, Dr. Taher assumed his health was the result of genetics.
At 56 he had serious health conditions which led to open heart surgery at 61. Dr. Taher transformed from a middle-aged practicing physician with a dangerously bad diet into a vital, energetic athlete, ever seeking new challenges and adventures.
Prior to changing his eating, he dealt with a number of health issues including constipation, never-ending flu symptoms, headaches, a perforated colon and diverticulitis. He experienced multiple hospital stays, but it was his open heart surgery at the age of 61 that was what he calls his “inflection” point.
This is when he went from ordinary to extraordinary and has not looked back.

Before adopting a plant-based nutrition and the newfound knowledge, Olivier Mankondo weighed 220 pounds. Not realizing a byproduct of eating plant-based was weight loss, he was pleasantly shocked when he released 11 pounds the first week. Now 143 pounds, Olivier loves sharing his story.
MOTIVATION
Being overweight was not what motivated him to go plant-based. It was after hearing an Indian Yogi, Sadhguru, who encourages people to eat consciously. “Animal products are not designed for the human body,” was what impacted Olivier most with the teachings of Sadguru.
This made sense to Olivier. Within a day of hearing Sadguru, he gave up animal in his diet.
Not only did he lose 11 pounds in the first week, he quickly noticed he was feeling better than he had in quite a while. Having dealt with high blood pressure, daily headaches, chest pain, back pain, abscesses, joint pain, and cold sores for as long as he could remember, there was a marked difference with all of this after he changed his eating protocol.
Four months into eating plant based, he had a physical. His doctor was amazed at how great he was doing, encouraging him to keep at the plant-based eating.
HIS WIFE JOINED IN
Olivier’s wife saw the positive health changes occurring for him. Two weeks after he began, she decided to also give up meat and dairy. Tipping the scales at 240 pounds, she was ready to make a change and saw with her own eyes what was happening to her husband.
Within a month, they began feeding their children a more plant-based protocol. Since starting, his wife has released 99 pounds.

A 40 plus year ethical vegan, Dr. Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet: Eating for Spiritual Health and Social Harmony, has likely been one of the most divisive and influential voices for the voiceless. He pulls no punches in his truth, whether it be through his books, articles, blog posts or on a podcast show.
A soft-spoken man, Dr. Tuttle shares insights about the connection between our never-ending appetite for animals and the violence, corruption, fear, anxiety and disease that has become an accepted way of living.
According to Dr. Tuttle, when we consume animals that have been confined, tortured, highly medicated, abused and ultimately murdered, that energy is projected in our own behaviors and lives.
Many people assume because they are not the one to end the animal’s life, but simply select a meat or dairy choice at the grocery store or restaurant, somehow, they are not a part of these horrendous acts. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Then there are those who say, “What difference can I make? I’m just one person. My choice in food doesn’t make that much difference.”
Actually, it does. Not only to the animals, but also to your spiritual well-being.
When you consider that an estimated 50 billion chickens are slaughtered for food every year, excluding male chicks and unproductive hens that are killed in egg production and nearly 1.5 billion pigs are killed to satisfy the growing appetite for pork, bacon, ham and sausages and half a billion sheep are taken to slaughter every year, it is no surprise that violence has risen beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
This interview is one of the most enlightening conversations I've had on my show.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to start a business? Add to that a business in a very niched market during a pandemic? Is it difficult to start a food manufacturing business? What do you do when you hit bumps in the road?
During a recent conversation with Tyler Mayoras of Cool Beans, we discussed this and more.
Tyler went plant based in 2017 after attending a conference where he heard a shocking statistic about greenhouse gases and animal agriculture being at 15%. After his own research, he discovered it was more like 16 – 19%. That was all it took for him to decide to do his part to not contribute the greenhouse gases to the best of his ability. He gave up meat and dairy and then cofounded Cool Beans.
He immediately noticed incredibly benefits. He lost 25 pounds, increased his energy, improved his blood work numbers and much more.
He cofounded Cool Beans shortly before the initial shutdowns from the pandemic. After a few unexpected bumps in the road, Tyler and the entire Cool Beans team knew it was simply a matter of time to figure out what came next.
Their market reach is expanding rapidly with Cool beans placed in many locations throughout the country.
Percentage of Plant Based Eaters by population groups
Historically, 1% of the population identifies as vegan. In the last four years this number has increased to 3%. Millennials are at about 6% and Gen Z are right at 10%.

“You can’t outrun your fork,” is a favorite saying of Jennifer Helene. On a journey of truth around health and eating, Helene takes health very personally. A former Ford model, Helene lost her mother at a young age due to several complications caused by being morbidly obese. Her mother’s passing was a catalyst for her life-long commitment to healthy living, including being 100% vegan/plant-based and living healthy in mind, body and soul.
"It matters what you eat,” Helene can often be heard sharing with her clients.
If your food isn’t giving energy, it’s taking energy. During the pandemic, many people have put on excess weight with some figures at an average of 15 pounds. This excess weight can cause health issues that are preventable. Besides the physical impact of weight gain are the emotional issues.
Jennifer-Helene encourages people to start with their food consumption. She will be the first to admit it’s not necessarily easy, but definitely worth it.

The face of business is changing. In the past, seeking a job rarely involved sharing intimate details about your values. Sure, job seekers would talk about the typical values of honesty, integrity, or open-mindedness, but mentioning you were a vegan was not at all a part of the conversation.
Fast forward to today, and talking about one’s passion for a lifestyle choice, specifically being a vegan, can serve you in your job search. With a rise in businesses that identify as vegans, job seekers and consultants, speakers, coaches and digital nomads have incredible opportunity to find work that aligns with their deepest values.
In a recent conversation with Tania De Bruler, founder and CEO of Specilised HR Solutions, a company dedicated to matching vegan job seekers with organizations within the vegan industry, Tania shared powerful insights that any vegan job seeker will benefit from. A serial entrepreneur, Bobbi Giudicelli never intended to start her current company. Life had a different plan.
About 10 years ago, several personal events occurred in Bobbi’s life that changed the trajectory of her life path.
Her sister lost her battle with cancer, her father was in the throes of heart disease and advancing dementia, and she was struggling with severe, chronic fatigue. These three things were the wake-up call that had Bobbi look outside of traditional western medicine and begin her journey of understanding nutrition in a way she never imagined.
“I always felt I was healthy. I ate good… so I thought, but as my journey began, I realized change needed to happen,” Bobbi remarks.
After much research, she discovered how powerful food is in healing diseases many people have come to accept as “normal.”
Her journey incorporated the belief, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” (Hippocrates 400BC).
Bobbi’s journey led her to a plant-based, gluten-free nutritional lifestyle, and to renewed energy far surpassing how she’d felt even 20 years earlier.
The Plot Thickens
Realizing there was a void in the market for convenient, clean, delicious meal (breakfast/lunch) alternatives, she founded READ THE INGREDIENTS Loaves and Big Bites with her son Michael.
Bobbi and Michael were already business partners at that time so it made sense to partner on their newest venture.
After they shared the Loaves and Big Bites with others and received wonderful feedback, they decided to sell their existing business and build the READ THE INGREDIENTS brand.

Claudia Ganswind has made it her mission to raise awareness about the benefits of a plant-based diet.
Never one to really enjoy eating meat, Claudia is a German-Italian raw food chef who became vegan in the year 2000. Starting out as a raw food chef, Claudia found she enjoyed various types of plant-based eating.
As a child, Claudia’s father continually tried to convince her that she needed to eat meat and eggs in order to grow and be healthy, but deep inside, she knew this was not who she was.
She made the connection between meat on her plate and animal cruelty very early in her life, but it was not until years later she made the lifestyle commitment to become vegan.
Although Claudia started as a vegetarian, she fully committed to her vegan journey when her two sisters became vegan and educated her about what veganism was actually about.
Similarly, thanks to a vegan chef at a vegetarian festival, she was also informed on how animals are treated and how nature is suffering because of factory farming. Soon after, she became vegan for the love of animals and the earth.
Likewise, her sisters showed her how to create delicious (raw) vegan dishes as well as teaching herself to create wonderful dishes. Her passions include creating raw vegan dishes, eating healthy and creating a sense of wellbeing.
Her passion for raw food vegan motivated Claudia to write Raw Vegan Wellness Kitchen. (Available on Amazon https://amzn.to/3rh5B5V)
Currently, Claudia does what she can to promote a healthy vegan diet. In Germany, there is a lot of support for veganism.
Claudia has lived in many countries such as Taiwan, Canada, France and Spain. Along the way, she has worked in vegan restaurants such as Loving Hut and Gorilla Foods.

Struggling with food allergies from a young age, Jaclyn Rae, founder of Jaclyn Creations, discovered the health benefits of a plant based/vegan diet over eight years ago. Highly allergic to animal protein, Jaclyn began a lifelong journey that has led her to becoming a nutritionist, author and advocate for cruelty free food consumption.
Initially she started as a raw food vegan and over time incorporated cooked foods into her own personal protocol.
One of her greatest driving forces for her lifestyle choices are the desire to help as many people as possible get healthy AND reduce her carbon footprint.
Working with clients
Jaclyn determines if she is a good fit before working with a potential client. She encourages those who may not have support at home with going vegan to join MeetUps, Facebook and other online groups. She knows how important it is for people to feel welcome and safe, especially when they don’t have support at home.
Jaclyn encourages people to take the “one day at a time” approach with going vegan.
“Do what you can for today and tomorrow move further into your goal,” Jaclyn suggests.
Jaclyn will evaluate whether her clients are interested in short term or long-term goals. Her approach is more holistic, meaning she considers all aspects of her client’s lives including if it’s weight loss, diet and/or environment they are most interested in and most in need of..
Offering a variety of meal plans that are her own creations, Jaclyn offers the service of meeting her clients at the grocery store to show them how to shop.
With the pandemic, this is not as much of an option as it used to be. Yet, there are options to bring Jaclyn to the store remotely. Simply put, the client can show via their phone what selections they are making.
When Families Give Push Back
It is not uncommon for families to not fully support one’s choice in giving up animal and dairy foods. They may even experience push back.
Jaclyn recommends trying to put yourself in your family’s shoes. Have you been known to try different lifestyle choices, only to go back to what you had been doing previously?
Is going “vegan” a faze…at least from your family’s perspective? Are you being too rigid too soon?
If you are someone who insists everyone follow your lead by going plant-base/vegan, this could be why others are resistant.
The best choice is to meet people where they are at. For some, they make the change to a cruelty free diet for health. Others, for the animas. Still others, for the environment. And still others, for all three reasons.
A very common expression is, “I came for health and stayed for the animals.”
The longer one is vegan, there more committed they tend to be to all the benefits of being vegan and the more likely it is their families will accept their choice.

Dr. Leila Dehghan, is a doctor turned plant-based nutritionist.
With a 100% committed to a vegan lifestyle, Dr. Leila is on a life journey to raise awareness about living kindly through what we consume, wear and buy in a number of ways. Leila received her medical degree from the University of Vienna and completed her internship in the UK.
Her personal experiences of overcoming health challenges through diet, shifted her professional interests to focus on the power of nutrition. After transitioning to a whole food, plant-based lifestyle herself, she earned a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate at eCornell, part of Cornell University, and obtained a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition from the University College of London.
Dr. Dehghan is the founder of Plant-Powered Qi Nutrition.
As a registered associate nutritionist and a personal trainer, Dr. Dehghan takes a holistic approach to understand her clients’ needs and helps them optimize their well-being, manage their weight, and prevent or recover from lifestyle diseases.
During our conversation we discussed how communities of people are marginalized in ways that make it very difficult for them to eat healthy.
Often, there are external obstacles, while other times, families are the greatest challenge for those who choose a vegan lifestyle.
“Change can be a threat to one’s identity as well as a cultural threat,” Dr. Leila states.
Making it her life’s work to educate people through film, media and podcast interviews, Dr. Leila encourages anyone interested in veganism to do so with reliable resources. Far too often people get information from those who do not have the knowledge level the experts have.
Dr. Dehghan is passionate about food justice and health equity. She aims to find effective ways to address racial and socio-economic issues that affect health. Her project “Food and Diversity” seeks to introduce a plant-based diet to people of the global majority (a term coined to refer to Black, Indigenous and people of color).
Dr. Dehghan is a member of the Advisory Board for the Plant-based Health Professionals UK, and has created the 21 Day Plant-based Health Challenge to encourage and invite more people to go plant-based.
She is regularly invited to deliver webinars and talk about the benefits of a whole food, plant-based diet.

When you don’t see enough in mainstream media that shines a positive light on the vegan movement, you take matters into your own hands.
That’s how Elysabeth Alfano came to create The Plant Based Business Hour AND The Plant Based Business Minute. Both are designed to raise awareness about the business of veganism.
There is no doubt, Elysabeth is sitting on the right side of history. Yet, she will be the first to say the direction of her business picked her.
After receiving degrees from Northwestern and from The Thunderbird School of Global Management, Elysabeth Alfano started her career in Brand Marketing with Special K and Frosted Mini Wheats at The Kellogg Company. She then successfully ran her own international company before exiting and focusing on investing. In 2019, she started Plant Powered Consulting to help brands launch and succeed by solidifying branding, growing brand awareness and voice, and carving out market share.
Citing clients such as vegconomist-the vegan business magazine, vKind, The Vegan Museum and Change Foods, Elysabeth has been with Passion Placement since the early days building.
She focuses on marketing and media strategies, assisting with client relations and connections in the plant-based landscape, and, along with Plant Powered Consulting Team Member, Jackie Lutze, developing and executing the branded social media platforms.
A seasoned speaker and writer, Elysabeth combines her business acumen, journalism and on-camera skills to host her podcast show as well as appearing on shows.
After interviewing athletes, business people and other professionals, her focus shifted to the world of veganism and plant based lifestyles. Knowing that veganism is right at our front door, Elysabeth is part of the movement that is going through radical shifts moving forward.
Ever the optimist, Elysabeth believes the silver lining of the COVID pandemic is that people are taking more personal responsibility for their health and how they spend their dollars.
There is more concern about the animals. Corporations are becoming more responsible when it comes to the environment.
More food manufacturers are rolling out plant based and vegan choices. With Elysabeth’s marketing and media acumen, companies contract her to help them achieve their goals more efficiently in time and money invested.

With an eye on what is coming, Elysabeth says there is a huge amount of growth potential for those wanting to move into the industry. Many plant-based meat products are being introduced to market as are plant-based seafood choices.
With vegans being only 3% of society, the majority of growth with plant-based businesses is from meat eaters. There is a lot of room within the industry for those who specialize in nutrition.
Other trends are more cruelty free cosmetics, clothing, furniture, being introduced to market. Cruelty free is humane and does not involve experimentation on animals in product development.
According to Alfano, younger consumers are very values driven. They are holding corporations responsible for the actions they take.
Mission aligned companies are growing with a focus on the health of the customers. This aligns perfectly with meal delivery programs that are focused on healthy food choices.
Going Vegan
For someone considering going vegan, there are a number of ways to achieve this. Elysabeth recommends that you shift your mindset to one of adding healthy foods to your diet rather than looking at what you are giving up.
In reality, you have more choice with a vegan diet than most diets that include any type of meat or dairy.
Regardless of whether you move in degrees, or immediately jump in with both feet, the first step is to get rid of meat and dairy. This is the most important step you can take.
From there, do your research. Follow experts within the industry to get a handle on healthy food choices. And most of all, realize this is a process.

Garrick Williams is a 34 year old father and husband. Struggling most of his life with health issues related to the stomach and gut, he converted to a 100% plant based diet in the year 2012 after watching a documentary. Since making the change life has become so much more rewarding. Through the years since, Both Garrick's wife and daughter have gone fully plant based.
With very few answers from doctors, Garrick thought he would live with the health issues and simply had to figure out how to make life work. All that changed when he and his then girlfriend, turned wife, watched the documentary Forks Over Knives.
Jumping in with both feet, Garrick struggled the first four weeks on a plant based diet. After the four week mark, he woke up completely free of the health issues that had plagued him all his life.
Changes he experienced are more energy, better focus, improved state of mind and overall feeling good.
Additionally, he dropped unwanted weight and his ability to maintain a healthy weight is what he refers to as, “A God send.”
Within a short period of time, Garrick discovered he had a passion for cooking. Having never owned a cookbook in his life, he became self-taught on the many choices a plant based diet offer.
Benefits of Raising a Child on a Plant Based Diet
Without a doubt, a child who is free of processed foods is bound to be healthier. With a young daughter who is soon turning four, Garrick and his wife are committed to doing all they can to keep their daughter informed of healthy choices.
To fully understand the benefits of raising a child on a plant based diet, Garrick studied extensively as well as went back to school to learn about nutrition. An engineer by trade, all his research pointed to this being an extremely healthy way to raise his daughter.
With his wife on board with the idea of raising their daughter on a plant based diet, Garrick will be the first to admit that as she gets older, there will be outside influences on diet.
Working together with their pediatrician, Garrick is confident his daughter’s diet is as good as it gets.
Her checkups are outstanding, and her weight is extremely healthy. As childhood obesity is on the rise, Garrick loves sharing information on how other parents can switch to healthier food choices for themselves and their children.
Recommendations to Parents
Start your children early on the various selections of a plant based diet. Have plenty of choice for them and make sure you include things to satisfy their cravings such as fruit.
Calorically dense foods are a great choice.

With the estimated annual health care costs of obesity-related illness at a staggering $190.2 billion or nearly 21% of annual medical spending in the United States and childhood obesity alone responsible for $14 billion in direct medical costs behaviors must change.
Food choices are responsible for the increase in obesity, illness and COVID related complications.

With the popularity of vegan lifestyles on the uptake, there is evidence of change everywhere. Those who have been committed to vegan lifestyle for any length of time are now more common than ever.
In the past, it was somewhat of a novelty for an entrepreneur to be so vocal about being a vegan and incorporating their values so beautifully into service offerings. One person who has been sharing her vegan philosophy in a very unique way is Ginger Burr of Total Image Consultants.
Before she became a fashion stylist and image consultant, Ginger major in music at Mount Holyoke College. Fresh out of college she was intrigued by the fashion industry but had no clue that her interest would turn into her career.
After college she moved to the Boston area. During those first few years in Cambridge she worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Biology Dept. not as a researcher but as a word processor where she learned all her computer skills.
An image consultant for over 30 years, Ginger Burr has committed her life to educating as many people as possible about compassionate style.
Ginger was first introduced to the idea of being an image consultant after attending a workshop about color. It was a three-day workshop that changed her life. The facilitator was willing to train and mentor Ginger.
Ginger stopped eating red meat over 40 years ago. It took a bit longer to give up fish and dairy but the more she learned about veganism the more committed she became.
Although not all her clients are vegan, Ginger does what she can to educate people on more compassionate choices when they choose clothing.
“I use my knowledge of animal fabrics and the animal cruelty to educate my clients.”

Roshni Sanghvi is India's leading plant- based sports nutritionist and transformation specialist. Her holistic approach to health includes sustainable long- term lifestyle changes instead of temporary fad diets to lose weight.
Her fitness success story is a journey of an unlikely transformation. Fitness did not come to naturally to Roshni. In spite of the fact that her family is in the fitness industry, she had no intention to understand the fitness business. Being fit and maintaining fitness was the last agenda of her life.
Her attitude and life changed when she was called back to India from New York to take care of her father. Starting a journey that included fitness certification, losing excess weight, and fully understanding the connection of the foods we consume to our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being, Roshni has worked with thousands of people around the globe on their fitness journey.
“Like many people, I have also succumbed to crash-dieting and over-training. I have done unhealthy things like regularly going to sleep hungry and then binging every weekend. Being fit is a process.”
Prior to the pandemic, Roshni didn’t give much thought to working remotely with her clients. All that changed with travel was restricted and social distancing mandates were put in place.
Now eager to reach clients around the globe, Roshni is fully committed to doing all she can to help as many people as possible get as healthy as possible. The kind of health that gives one a quality of life most only dream of.
Committed to working with those who are ready to jumpstart their health. Roshni will never recommend foods that are animal based.
“Why would I recommend something I don’t dare put in my own body? Something that is so unhealthy? I don’t and I won’t,” she stands firm.
Roshni has extraordinarily strong opinions about why a plant based diet is the healthiest diet. It has been proven that there is more domestic violence among those who work in factory farms where death, violence, fear and anguish are ever present.
Feeling it is a parent’s moral responsibility to be a role model for their children, she urges parents to consider eating in a way that fully supports health.

Denny Wilson reached a weight of 350 pounds at his highest weight. Dealing with a variety of illnesses and diseases, he finally took control of his life when he realized much of the information he was being given by medical professionals was a band-aide rather than a solution.
Denny lives in west Texas in what is known as the Permian Basin, in the city of Odessa, home of the real Friday Night Lights. He has been on a journey from the Standard American Diet (SAD) to a whole food plant based lifestyle.
Denny had a heart attack 7 years ago after having 100% blockage in the left anterior descending artery (LAD). He was living in a rural town at the time where the staff treated him for heartburn. When the blood enzyme levels were reported back to the staff after being sent two towns over to be tested in a lab, they sent him by life flight to the hospital. He received a stent and spent a week in the hospital trying to recover.
After being released, Denny was scheduled for rehab for 12 weeks, which included making some adjustments to the diet, but with what was basically a calorie restricted diet combined with 5 day a week exercise. Initially, Denny lost some weight and started seeing some of the numbers of his astronomical blood glucose levels come down (had been in the 600s) and his blood pressure stabilize after being at stroke and heart attack levels for years). But these successes were short lived.

Jeffrey Masson, New York Times Bestseller, had no intention of writing some of the most popular books about animal compassion, communication, and the truth about farm animals, but life had a powerful plan for the man of many talents.
At nearly 80 he is passionate about both raising awareness about compassion to animals and being vegan. The two perfectly go hand in hand.
His first glimpse into his destiny as an outspoken advocate for animals was when he wrote, When Elephants Weep: The Emotional Lives of Animals.

The book explores dancing squirrels to bashful gorillas to spiteful killer whales, taking readers on an emotional roller coaster ride.

Beginner’s Guide to Plant Based Eating
http://www.plantbasedeatingforhealth.com/guide
Like most children who grew up in the Midwest on a subsistence farm, Caroline Allen was taught to be kind to animals and love them on the one hand, and to butcher them for food on the other hand. Hunting and fishing were all part of life on the farm and one Caroline prided herself in being very skilled at.
Caroline describes her upbringing as very loving, yet very poor… dirt poor.
Eager to leave the rural life behind, Caroline jumped at the chance to get a four year degree in journalism when she was awarded a scholarship.
University was light years from where her mother and father were with their education. Neither had graduated high school opting to get their GED in their sixties and seventies.
Knowing what it was like to be dirt poor, without an education, Caroline was determined to make something of herself. With a definition of success that included travel, money, a fast paced life and “being somebody” Caroline had no clue what was in store.
After obtaining her degree, she set off to see the world, using her writing skills as the ticket out of the rural life.
Her impressive resume includes being a newsroom journalist in Tokyo and London, travels to exotic places and living a bona-fide jet setting lifestyle.
After working as a journalist in Tokyo, after working in a newsroom during the death of Emperor Hirohito and the cultural sea change that wrought, Caroline spent a year traveling Southeast Asia — India, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia.
Yet, life as she knew it came to a screeching halt at a point where most people would say she made it.
Feeling a strong call to give up the life she had grown accustomed to, Caroline knew there was a bigger purpose to her life, but she had no idea what that was.
Although she loved the crazy, jet-setting life that was world’s away from her impoverished, rural Missouri upbringing, something was calling her. That something was art, book coaching and most importantly, a commitment to complete compassion to animals and the planet through a vegan lifestyle.
What followed were many years of self-exploration, Wretched, painful years of confusion, despair, and heart-break. Not sure if she was having a break-through or a break-down, everything that defined her was taken away.
Thus, began the journey of rebuilding her life from the ground up.
Today, as a novelist, visual artist and book coach, Caroline Allen lives by the core values of creativity, authenticity, purpose, and contribution.
Join in on our conversation where we dig deep into what veganism means to Caroline, how she was able to align her purpose by spending extended periods of time in nature, when the flood gates of her visual art work opened up, and the confusion she sees from people who continue to eat factory farmed animals.
A 100% committed vegan for eight years, Caroline sees her journey as one that allows her to raise awareness about sentient beings and our relationship to all living things.
Setting up her art studio in a yurt, filled with over 600 drawings, in a very private area in Oregon, Caroline spends her days painting, coaching clients and allowing life to unfold in a most natural way.
One of her greatest joys is spending time with animals at one of several sanctuaries, painting everything from horses, goals, pigs, and cows. A portion of proceeds from the sale of her artwork is donated back to the sanctuaries.
To see some of her artwork, visit https://www.carolineallen.com/vegan-art-sale or catch the YouTube video https://youtu.be/Txabn1XcH60
Have you ever wondered what the difference between vegan and plant based is? When I first started eating plant based, I was pretty confused. On the one hand, I didn't want to call myself vegan because I really didn't understand what it meant to be vegan. Yet, from what I understood, being vegan meant compassionate eating void of all animal and dairy.
Early into my journey, I wrote a blog post about the difference. http://plantbasedeatingforhealth.com/vegan-and-plant-based-are-apples-to-oranges-sometimes/
Now, nearly two years into my lifestyle change, I have merged vegan and plant based eating in a way that it aligns with my values. I’ve gone deeper into the lifestyle and it seems, the more I learn, the more I want to learn about being vegan.
In a nutshell, when you are plant-based/vegan, you eat a whole food plant based diet that is healthy, compassionate, and ethical. It’s really that simple.
Issues that can be addressed when people transition to a whole food, plant based/vegan lifestyle is minimizing health risks, including complications from COVID-19, healthier populations, less food insecurities, kindness to animals due to not eating factory farmed animals and so much more.
Many people think eating plant based is expensive. Actually, when done right, eating a whole food, plant-based/vegan diet can be very cost effective.

hef AJ has been devoted to a plant-based diet for 43 years. Her background includes being the host of the television series Healthy Living with CHEF AJ which airs on Foody TV. With her comedy background, she has made appearances on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and more. A chef, culinary instructor and professional speaker, she is author of the popular book Unprocessed: How to Achieve Vibrant Health and Your Ideal Weight, which chronicles her journey from a junk-food vegan faced with a diagnosis of pre-cancerous polyps, to learning how to create foods that nourish and heal the body.
Based in Palm Springs, Chef AJ teaches how to create meals to transform health, how to deal with cravings and food addiction and addresses the emotional side of eating. She is the creator of The Ultimate Weight Loss Program, was the Executive Pastry Chef at Sante La Brea Restaurant in Los Angeles, creator of Healthy Taste of LA and the YouTube cooking show The Chef and the Dietitian. Chef AJ holds a certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University and is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
Since the start of the pandemic, Chef AJ has added Facebook and YouTube lives to her repertoire as a way to continue to serve her community.
Knowing from a young age she didn’t want to consume animals; she was able to adhere to a vegan lifestyle due to her Orthodox Jewish upbringing. She never developed a taste for animals and always had compassion for animals.
This compassion was put to the test early in her schooling to become a veterinarian. When asked to prep salamanders for testing, her reaction to the first one prevented her from doing a second one. She absolutely refused to harm the animals.
This put an end to her aspirations of becoming a veterinarian.
It all began with an Easy Bake Oven
Chef AJ got a taste for baking when she received an Easy Bake Oven at the age of seven for Hanukkah. As a self-described fat kid, she loved desserts and loved baking.
That was the start of a lifelong passion for baking. A passion that turned into her life’s work.
Although fit and slim today, Chef AJ had her own struggles with weight. Reaching 200 pounds at her highest, she was more of a junk food vegan than a plant-based eater.
Realizing that although she was vegan, the way she ate was very unhealthy. After being diagnosed with precancerous growths called adenomatous polyps, Chef AJ knew it was time for a dramatic change.
The change included learning about whole food, plant-based eating while at the Optimum Health Institute.
Since that time, Chef AJ has become a force to be reckoned with. A recognized name in virtually every vegan and plant-based circle, you can catch Chef AJ on Facebook and YouTube live weekdays at 11 a.m. Pacific. https://www.youtube.com/user/therealchefaj

A self-proclaimed redneck, Tim had what could be considered a successful life. A highly profitable financial advisor, Tim had the American dream of the wife, the kids, the nice house and all the trappings that come with it including being overweight, bloated, skin conditions like eczema, being tired … a lot and yet, striving for more. It was never enough. Until it wasn’t.
His life began to unravel due to health problems when he had a revelation that poor health didn’t just affect him, it affected everyone around him.
But it was only after watching family and friends die of cancer and the untimely death of his younger brother that he finally decided to take action. Tim’s journey led him to a shocking discovery which helped his friend beat cancer and transform every area of his life.
Feeling charged with a duty to help others he started sharing his knowledge with anyone that would listen. This led him to producing his own chemical free food products. ‘Chemical Free Body’ was born.

If there's one thing most people want, it's more energy. Yet, the majority of people don’t live in a way that supports this end.
A great many people wake up sluggish, drag themselves out of bed, somehow make it through the day, come home to plop themselves in front of the television or their computer, stuffing themselves with unhealthy foods and drink, drag themselves to bed only to repeat the same thing the next day and the next and the next.
Find out how to avoid this. http://www.plantbasedeatingforhealth.com
Dr. Livingston’s career was the envy of those who knew him. The author of Never Binge Again, Glenn is a veteran psychologist and was the long-time CEO of a multi-million-dollar consulting firm which has serviced several Fortune 500 clients in the food industry.
Featured in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Sun Times, The Indiana Star Ledger, The NY Daily News, American Demographics, ABC, CBS radio, and UPN TV to name just a few media outlets, Glenn willingly admits he was driven by financial success.
Over the course of his career, Glenn has sold $30,000,000 of marketing consulting services.
Although monetarily successful, he hid a deep hole he could not seem to fill with anything other than food. He had a very intimate relationship with binging.
As his bank account grew, so did his waistline. Tipping the scales at nearly 280 pounds, Glenn was forced to face his demons. Never did he think he would end up as a tired, frustrated, obese man whose main comfort came from food. He was ready for a change. Yet, his journey out of obesity and the food prison he found himself in was not without more frustration.
Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Dr. Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of binging and overeating through the work he did with his own patients AND a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants.

Born in poverty, to a dysfunctional family in inner city Birmingham, England, Mary McGuire didn’t have the type of upbringing that required much more than finding a low paying job containing limited prospects for anything beyond this.

As a long time vegetarian, then vegan, Mary chose the plant-based lifestyle in 2016. Completely void of animal and dairy products in her diet, Mary is committed to doing what she can by living the example of compassion to all sentient beings.

Kate Kunkel has enjoyed careers as a writer, a harpist, and a TV talk show host. But her most important job developed as she witnessed the devastation that dementia wrought on her mother, and it has become Kate's mission in life to do whatever she can to prevent anyone else suffering as her mother did.
Her research has inspired her to become a passionate advocate for taking control of one's own health with better lifestyle choices, and a huge part of that, of course, is with an organic, whole food, vegan diet.
Kate believes that Losing your Mind is a Choice, and that it is never too early, and never too late, to take control of your health and protect your future.
As a long-time vegan, Kate Kunkel is more committed than ever to raise awareness about the health benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.
Starting her journey in the eighties, with a few detours along the way, she vowed to do all she could to raise awareness about brain care after her mom died.
Her first introduction into the world of veganism was when she owned a hair salon in Palm Desert, California.
As the first salon to have a “no animal testing” and no chemicals for products policy, they used a brand of products that they bought by the gallon. It was based on Kate’s desired to doing what she could to look after the planet.
It was during this period, she received a brochure from PETA of what is referred to a “downer” cow. A downer is an animal, usually livestock, that cannot stand on its own and therefore is to be killed. A downed animal, one that is unable to stand, is not necessarily a downer.
Her heart breaking in what she says is, “a million times over” became vegan overnight.

Saying you are a compassionate person and actually living with compassion can be two very different
things.
True compassion goes beyond the words we speak. It filters into virtually every area of our life including how we treat animals. It is amazing how many people say they care about animals and yet, in the next breath they are consuming some type of animal based product.
The fact is, how animals are raised (and killed) for consumption is NOT compassionate. The great majority of animals are bred, born, and raised (albeit for very short periods of time) on factory farms. If you have done any research on factory farming, you know it is incredibly inhumane.

How does someone go from making daily (sometimes twice daily) trips to Taco Bell for the "usual" $20 order of tacos, chips, burritos and whatever else was in the bag, hitting 420 pounds on the scale, reaching a 66 inch waist, to becoming one of the most popular podcast hosts on the topic of plant based eating, now trim and fit, an in-demand podcast guest on other lifestyle and plant based/vegan shows, with no end in sight?
That's the story of today's guest, Chuck Carroll.
Chuck Carroll is host of the Physicians Committee's popular “The Exam Room” podcast and known widely as The Weight Loss Champion, a name given to him by an NFL player for losing an incredible 275 pounds. From the typical “bro jock” who always had a passion for the environment, Zack Belknap connected the dots about the hypocrisy of what he ate and being an environmentalist when he watched the movies Dominion and Cowspiracy.
Zack Belknap is a pro-card holding bodybuilder and NASM certified personal trainer who is a favorite among his clients.
Bringing a tough as nails philosophy from his competitive weight training and the compassion of an animal advocate to the experience, Zack’s clients know he doesn’t mess around.
He’s serious about his commitment to their health and helping them achieve the gains they want. Whether it’s training for a competition, or simply getting in shape, they know Zack will go the distance with them.
Yet, he never imposes veganism on his clients. But if they ask, he’s more than willing to answer any question they have about what it means to be a vegan athlete.

Recently, many states lifted the mandates of the quarantine and stay at home orders.
For some, the past couple of months have been a time of reflection and much needed change.
For others, actually millions of others, people went back to old behaviors as if nothing ever occurred.
The GREAT awakening is upon us. It’s a time when some will take full responsibility for their choices and actions while others will continue to go about their business as if they have no say in the quality of their life.
You can choose where you reside. Are you someone who believes this is how things are and you just have to accept it? Or are you among those who are experiencing The GREAT Awakening?

For more than 40 years, Dr. T. Colin Campbell has been at the forefront of nutrition research. His legacy, the China Project, is the most comprehensive study of health and nutrition ever conducted. Dr. Campbell is the Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University. He has more than 70 grant-years of peer-reviewed research funding and authored more than 300 research papers and coauthor of the bestselling the book, "The China Study: Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-term Health."
Enjoying vibrant health and an active lifestyle well into his late eighties, Dr. Campbell continues his quest to educate people that "the ideal human diet looks like this: Consumer plant-based foods in forms as close to their natural state as possible...eat a variety of vegetables, fruits, raw nuts and seeds, beans and legumes, and whole grains."
Recognized as a pioneer in the plant based movement, Dr. T. Colin Campbell, author of the China Study, believes that the government should withhold funding for medical schools unless they agree to teach nutrition according to what we know. The National Institutes of Health should have another institute dedicated to nutrition. And at a community level, support for nutrition programs.

Serena is a certified plant-based nutrition consultant, yoga teacher and fitness trainer. She has studied the subject of nutrition for over 10 years and has a unique, holistic approach to health and wellness.
When she was only eight years old, her father, a very successful businessman, and busy entrepreneur, became extremely ill. Unfortunately, he did not have the tools to take care of his own well-being and therefore crumbled under the pressure of owning a multi-million euros business.
This led to him losing everything he had worked so hard for with huge consequences to him and the whole family. This experience was a catalyst for Serena’s interest in well-being practices.
Fast forward to today. Together with her husband, Eugene, they founded Whole Shift Wellness, a coaching company specializing in custom programs for time-pressured professionals. With over 20 years combined experience, they have worked with over 500 extraordinarily successful professionals from across five countries.
Together, they passionately apply their proven methodology to transform the health and well-being of leaders from around the world who want to be strong, fit, healthy and satisfied. Those who aspire to continue having a positive impact within their organizations and the communities around them.
Serena received her certification for Plant Based Nutrition through eCornell University.

When we were first asked to “shelter at home” it seemed like a reasonable solution to a scary problem. COVID-19 appeared to come out of nowhere.
Most people believed it would be a short-term situation, gladly sacrificing a few days at home for the “good of all.”
Yet, truth be told, it’s likely 99.9% of people had no idea what was in store.
Factory farms are shutting down due to the number of cases and deaths occurring in the very locations where “food” is processed, and the fear factor increases for a great many people.
In the case of factory farms, rather than admit that these plants are breeding grounds for disease, contamination, viruses and countless injuries, the “powers that be” are doing all they can to get public support and sympathy for what they deem as a major food shortage and a break in the food supply chain.
They are doing all they can to mislead the public by convincing people they will experience protein deficiency if they don’t eat animal based products.
Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth of the matter is this; factory farms are unhealthy to humans and animals. Plain and simple.
When COVID-19 first hit the light of day, most people took the news at face value. Yet, there were outspoken skeptics from the start. Many were alarmed by similarities to health crisis situations in the past.
Internationally recognized expert on nutrition, medicine and health, and the Executive Director of Wellness Forum Health, Dr. Pam Popper was extremely alarmed by what was happening.
Her position is often viewed as controversial, yet, as you will discover, her point of view, perspective and facts are well-researched and definitely worth considering.
Who Is Dr. Popper?
Dr. Popper serves on the Physician’s Steering Committee and the President’s Board for the Physicians’ Committee for Responsible Medicine in Washington D.C. She served as part of Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s teaching team at eCornell, teaching part of a certification course on plant-based nutrition. She has been featured in many widely distributed documentaries, including Processed People and Making a Killing and appeared in the acclaimed documentary Forks Over Knives, which played in major theaters throughout North America in 2011. She is one of the co-authors of the companion book which was on the New York Times bestseller list for 66 weeks. She is the author of Food Over Medicine: The Conversation That Can Save Your Life.
Dr. Popper is a featured as the lead expert in Food Choices, appears in Diet Fiction, and also in Code Blue. She is the author of the companion books for Food Choices and Diet Fiction.
Dr. Popper is also a lobbyist and public policy expert, and continually works toward changing laws that interfere with patients’ right to choose their health provider and method of care. She has testified in front of legislative committees on numerous occasions and has testified three times in front of the USDA’s Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee.
The Interview
During our conversation, Dr. Popper debunked many of the myths to do with COVID-19. Whether you agree, disagree or choose to dig deeper, one thing I’m confident you’ll agree with is this; Dr. Popper is a breath of fresh air during a time when many people are not questioning much at all about the current situation.
The following includes excerpts from our conversation as well as information to further substantiate what Dr. Popper says.
This is not the first time Dr. Pam Popper has gone against conventional wisdom and done all possible to pull the veil off people’s eyes.
“When this all started, there wasn't much attention paid to it. When it started to look like something was really going to happen, the very first data didn't make any sense to me.
“There were two or three dozen cases outside of China and the W.H.O. (World Health Organization) declared a pandemic. I'm thinking, “this sounds shockingly like what happened before with Swine Flu.”
“In 2009 and 2010 the CDC and the W.H.O. fanned the flames to create panic in order to convince people to get the flu vaccine,” Dr. Popper points out.
With the current pandemic, Dr. Popper noticed many similarities to what had happened and what was about to unfold.
“I started digging into it. The more I dug, the crazier it got,” Popper states. “Every time you think you’ve heard the end of the craziness; you find something else insane that's going on.”

After Alexi Bracey conquered cancer, she changed her chef’s hat to one of plant-based nutrition. She spent the last 20 years learning what pieces of the puzzle are needed to achieve and maintain excellent health - nutritionally, emotionally and environmentally.
Alexi experienced a life-changing moment on a recent visit to a nursing home. In the one dining room, the residents were animated, having a lively conversation, sharing their excitement of an upcoming trip. Down the hall, in the other dining room was total silence. Most of the residents were slumped over in their chair, no conversation, no eye contact, a number of them had to be fed or were eating without utensils. Many of them were younger than Alexi. They were suffering from various forms of dementia. It broke her heart, so much that she decided to shift her focus to helping mature people live long and die young with her vast knowledge and experience in reaching optimal health.
A dedicated plant-based eater and lifestylist, Madeleine Eno has successfully carved out a niche in the editing and authorship space. Dedicated to working with experts who have a life-changing message through their writing, Madeleine goes deep into her passion for what it means to be a plant-based lifestylist.
It was during a meditation many years ago that Madeleine literally heard a voice say, “You’re done with meat.”
She had promised herself that if she ever received that kind of inspiration, she would honor the message. From that point forward, she has not eating any animal or dairy products.
Madeleine is an in-demand book writing strategist working with conscious entrepreneurs who are committed to sharing their message through books.
Everybody's story is really linked to dealing with the world that's changing fast and uncertain and unpredictable. “All we have is ourselves and our own growth and our own clarity that we can kind of control. There’s a definite connection to all things and eating plant based allows for that connection.”
She teaches her clients that the process of writing has to come from within. When we tap into that inner wisdom, it impacts all we do. Working with authors, Madeleine guides her clients to higher awareness through retreats, book mapping and consulting.
Ryan Furman was the typical all-American dude. Raised to believe he needed meat and potatoes to survive, his claim to fame on his 18th birthday was to eat a 49 oz steak in ONE sitting.
At 6’2″ and 145 lbs. soaking wet, Ryan was determined to put muscle on his thin frame.
In spite of eating what he believed to be a healthy diet (most of the time) his level of exhaustion prevented him from living the life he knew he could.
He was misinformed about what to eat and how to eat. Frustrated with the amount of medication he needed to reduce his cholesterol; he knew he needed a change.
The more he learned about exercise and nutrition, the more he realized how much he still didn’t know.
Thus began his journey into nutrition. He took a close look at what he ate in order to educate himself on how to properly fuel his body.
It took some thorough investigating and retraining of his food values. It wasn’t until he switched to a plant based diet that he immediately felt better. Within one week, he noticed positive benefits.
Since that time he has reshaped his diet and now coaches others who want to eat plant based.
On October 13th, 2014 he was certified as a Plant Based Nutritionist through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. This is the leading authority on Plant Based Nutrition in association with Cornell University.
He is also a certified Personal Trainer through ACTION.
Learn all about a plant based lifestyle. Covering topics about being vegan, ethical food choices and kindness to the environment due to a plant based diet. This is the inaugural episode.
