Hey, I'm Sal, the coming out coach. Raised in the LDS (Mormon) church, I had a clear plan for my life since as early as I can remember. Until everything suddenly imploded. After a deep dive into my soul, I experienced the excruciating pain of losing my faith. My internal world was destroyed and my external world came soon after.
When I had the strength, I began to search for the bricks to begin rebuilding. I desperately needed to understand myself. To heal. To believe in myself. To FIND myself. And then to be true to myself. I realized I am GAY and have been my whole life! Soon after came the pain. Staying married to a man would have been the ultimate betrayal of self.
So, I did it. I came out! I am living my truth. I'm here on the other side and you guys, believe me when I tell you it is WORTH IT! I don’t just feel happy, I feel ALIVE! And it is so beautiful.
After coming out of religion or the closet, there are still challenges to be faced. THIS is life. Being a human is not easy. We're all on the path, evolving and discovering more of who we are every day. No matter where you are on your journey, I am here for it.
Peace Out is for everyone. I'm here for you, your partner, parent, sibling, or BFF, as you peacefully navigate coming out of religion or coming out of the closet. Or if you're like me, both!
I created this podcast to give you some encouragement and love through these super challenging times. Whether you personally have questions, are looking for help, or a even a community, I see you. I hear you. You got this!

He grew up a brown "girl" in white Wisconson, an active memebr of the LDS church. He had to to hide his gender and sexual identiy. He served a Mormon mission and then finally choose to live his truth out loud. BEAUTIFUL! His energy is magnetic.

Becky Goodwin is on the hero's journey.
Just last year she left her 30+ marriage, left the LDS church, and came out as a lesbian at the age of 57.
Becky is now on the healing journey of self discovery and reclaiming her sovernity. She attended the most recent Peace Out Retreat and shares her experience of diving in and letting go. She is a GEM of a human being.

She was recently awarded 2.3 billion dollars in damages in a civil lawsuit against her stepfather, her mother and the Mormon church. She was abused by her stepfather (her mother was an accomplice) from the age of 5 until 14, when someone fianlly listened to her. And it was NOT someone from the church.

Bradley Talbot is the one behind the lighting of the iconic Y in rainbow colors. The giant white cement Y on the mountainside in Provo, Utah represents Brigham Young University (a private school funded by the Mormon church). In honor of the LGBTQ students, who are discriminated against at the school, Brad created Color the Campus. The organization aims to help LGBTQ students feel more love, safety and belonging while they are attending BYU.
Recently Brad organized and carried out a lighting demonstration, even after BYU put out a statement prohibiting it. This interview was recorded shortly before this event.
Barrett Pall is a Jew-ish Queer Life Coach.
Barrett is full of courage, wisdom and experience to share. He is an activist and spreads love and awareness to issues most don't want to face.

Dawna knew she loved women as far back as elementary school. She was raised in a big Mormon family and being gay wasn't an option.

Matt Easton came out in his valedictorian speech at BYU in 2019. His speech was pre-approved by his professors. He was met with love and support from many.
This week at BYU, Jeffery Holland, an apostle of the Mormon church, publicly condemned Matt, claiming he "commandeered the stage." Holland warned against supporting LGBTQ equality, which is contrary to the church's doctrine.

Chelsea Homer is a gatherer. She has created a support group online for women experiencing mixed faith marriages, or who are experiencing changes in their own faith. The group has over 5 thousand members, which speaks to the great need for this in the current climate of the LDS church.
Chelsea shares her personal story, first in a mixed faith marriage, then later stepping away from the church herself. She's raw, vulnerable and helps others feel seen and heard through sharing her own grief and pain. Alongside her joy and fulfillment in her newfound inner authority and endless possibilities!

Brian Spittler grew up checking all the Mormon boxes. Although he he liked girls, he noticed his attraction to boys early on. She's a mom of 3, she wrote a best selling children’s book about body positivity called Her Body Can, she's a blogger, podcast host and activist. In 2016 her open letter to critics of her daughter’s facial birth mark went viral.
Something she said that hit me: “when you lay it all out there, people can’t use your own truth against you and then you kind of just don’t care anymore.” When you own your truth the haters lose any power they have over you. 👊🏻
