'If you just breathe and pray, it will go away.' True or false? Good advice or bad?

Pray first is good counsel, but when it comes to anxiety, sometimes 'just pray' can be insufficient. When this friend called anxiety becomes our foe, understanding what's going on inside of us is a great start to gaining control and finding peace.

'So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today.' - Jesus (Matthew 6:34 NLT)

According to the World Health Organization, more than 264 million people of all ages suffer from depression.

If depression is so common, why the stigma? And why is depression sometimes viewed as a failure of faith in some circles, Christian or non-Christian?

In this conversation, Steve and I lean into a multi-layered discussion on how to diagnose depression and ways to invite Christ into the process of healing and wholeness if you're depressed.

One doesn't have to look far to see God at work in the world. However, seeing God is entirely different.

In this episode of the Humans With Faith podcast, we converse around the question, 'Is an invisible God audible?'

Is hearing the audible voice of God the biblical norm? If so, is there something wrong with us when we don't hear from God daily? If hearing the audible voice of God isn't routine, how does he most often communicate with us?

If, when it comes to hearing God's voice in your life, 'The silence is deafening!' how might he guide and direct you through your life?

'If God is good, why is life sometimes so bad?'

In this episode of Humans With Faith, Steve and I have a messy conversation focused on one of life's biggest questions.

Why do bad things happen to good people? Or, anyone for that matter? How could a loving God allow so much suffering in our world?

Our opinion is that you don't have to be living in sin to be going through hell. And, to grieve is human.

We hope this honest conversation encourages those of you who are in a difficult situation, and we pray that God reveals himself to you in the middle of the pain that we all experience in this crazy thing called life.

Welcome to the second episode of 'The Hard Work Of The Soul' with my guest, Robina Bennion.

The King of Pop famously said, "If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change."  The title of that song by Michael Jackson is 'Man In The Mirror.'

Today's guest, Robina Bennion, has taken to heart those very words. Arriving at a place in life where she knew she wanted more, Robina did something risky, even scary. She looked in the mirror and asked, "Who do I want to be?"

These next two episodes focus on the importance of being honest with ourselves. Doing the hard work of the soul is the first step in moving out of an unhappy place, and into a more fulfilled life.

The Humans With Faith Podcast focuses on the life of average folks like most of you and me who are hungry to learn from one another how faith in Christ influences every area of our lives.

In our desire to see God at work, we sometimes look for the incredible, the amazing, crazy God stories that leave us saying 'Wow.'

I love the crazy God stories. What I love, even more, are the ordinary, everyday stories of God at work in the mundane, day to day stuff that makes up real life.

Today's guests, Amy & Jeremy Malekos are sharing a story that's a bit of both; a crazy God story that also includes the regular stuff that all of us can relate to.

In this, the first of two episodes with Amy and Jeremy, I hope your faith, maybe even your lack of faith is stirred in a way that draws you closer to God, compels you to pray and not give up, asking Him to move in your life when the struggles are overwhelming.

Remember those marriage vows? Probably not. That’s ok. They’re not very realistic anyway.   What is real is some of the promises in Scripture that can become pillars in our marriage.   When it comes to, ‘...for better, or for worse…’ having something to guide you through is key in staying the course.   This episode is Part 2 on marriage with my special guest, Lisa Thompson, as she shares The Seven Promises Of Marriage.   You can find more great stuff from Lisa HERE.

Do Something Simple. Some thoughts on my conversation with Ashley Neely on Living Through Hurricane Harvey.

On August 25th, 2017, Hurricane Harvey slammed into the Gulf Coast of Texas. In total, Harvey caused more than $125 Billion in damage. Except for Hurricane Katrina, Harvey caused more damage than any other natural disaster in US history.   With one-third of Houston under water, Ashley Neely and her family were some of the tens of thousands of residents who were displaced when their homes flooded and were forced to find shelter.   Ashley’s account of their experience is one that I hope encourages more of us to step up and do something for our fellow human beings when disaster strikes.   To all our friends in Houston, your example of resilience and teamwork is a shining example of the strength of the human spirit.
