It's time to get real! In this episode, Paula explains who this message is for, and who it "ain't". This is not just another women's empowerment message.

There is a great imbalance in the amount of propaganda directed toward women and mothers. This podcast is NOT more of the same.

Entrepreneurs are notorious for working long, extensive hours but “Domestic Mompreneurs” must have an efficient work/life/home balance. Establishing work hours can be beneficial in managing both home and business.

Time is an unrenewable resource. “If you don’t’ tell your time where to go, you’ll wonder where it went!”- The Domestic Mompreneur

If we don’t manage our time accordingly, we’ll look up and wonder where the days, weeks, and months have gone.

Mompreneur Time Management Tips:

  • Shift thinking from completing tasks to condensing work to a set timeframe.
  • Decide if a schedule is right for you
  • Decide what your work hours will be
    • Block work schedule, if possible
    • Either set hours per day or full day(s) on weekends
    • Establish boundaries with other home tasks as well as family and friends
  • Be honest with the time that you truly have available and plan accordingly
  • Work according to your personal energy and creativity
  • Schedule around your family’s needs. Remember family first!
  • Respect your time and require others to do the same.
  • Be consistent, establish routine
  • Don’t waste time!
  • Schedule your personal time off to prevent burnout

It is possible to show up for yourself and your business in a way that doesn’t neglect your family. Be flexible, but also intentional on carving out the time you need for your business.

No schedule will be perfect. Give yourself some grace.

The average American household spends only 50 minutes per day with their children of school age.

On the other hand, the average American household spends 2 hours per day on social media.

We are currently spending more time on social media and binge watching tv shows than we are with our children.

It's time to manage these devices and take control of our businesses and families.

Managing our smartphones can allow more time to devote to what matters to us most.

Getting rid of limiting beliefs

Perfection (or what we call balance) is impossible
Trying to be perfect sets us up for failure.

Our time will always prove what our priorities are. If your time is being spent in areas that you don’t deem most important, you’ll experience internal conflict.

Set priorities that coincide with your morals, values, and beliefs.

Getting rid of internal noise.
Keep first things first.
Understand that you are not alone.
Don’t isolate yourself.

Getting rid of outside noise
Understand the source
Be careful of tv, radio, even friends and family
Fill your mind with positivity and things that line up with what you want to accomplish
Watch food consumption as well as it weighs on how we think.

Be secure in your beliefs. Live like no one else so that you can live like no one else.

Stand firm on your beliefs and be unapologetic and confident about it.

Choosing the right business opportunity for a Domestic Mompreneur can be challenging. How do you choose the right one?

Look for an entrepreneurial opportunity, not a job!

Too often people go into business for themselves by creating a job. If they don't show up, if they don't provide the service, they don't get paid. This is still trading time for money. It's a job. Unless this is something that you love and are passionate about it, it's not the best opportunity.

Assess your time

Truly be honest with how much time you can devote to business without neglecting your family and household. Although a particular business model may be trendy or appealing to you, doesn't mean that you have the time to devote to it in order for it to be successful.

Respect the Pocket Book

Seriously, how much can you afford? Know the costs of investment. Weigh the risks vs the rewards, and paying to go back to school isn't always the answer. Use business funds wisely.

Passion

Although you shouldn't always ignore your passion in business, it doesn't have to govern your choices either. Sometimes you develop passions after starting the business.

Prayer

Seek God's will, plan, and direction. Accept the answer. Be content wherever you are.

This episode is about growth and how uncomfortable it can be if we are not prepared for it. If you are seeking change and growth in your life and business, you must be willing to get out of your comfort zone.

Every person is different and has unique gifts that they can offer. But, there’s one thing to shy away from things that don’t make the best use of your own gifts, it’s another thing to allow fear to cripple you and to prevent you from taking action.

We all have to start somewhere When I started the business I was isolated from the outside world. I had just taken my kids out of sports. We were down to one car, and I left the house maybe once a week to get groceries. I started a business of networking but had no network. The point: START WHEREVER YOU ARE!

DONE IS BETTER THAN PERFECT When stepping out of your comfort zone and into unchartered territory, be like Nike and Just Do it. You don’t have to be perfect. Even the people whom you’ve compared yourself to will tell you that they were probably not the best when they started either.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED After I had gotten to the point where I was willing to step out of my comfort zone for business, something I didn’t expect to happen, happened. I started to build real relationships. I’ve met some amazing people that I would have never met doing what I was doing before. And each of them has made an impact on me. Some have made an impact on my business. Some have even impacted the way I look at marriage and parenting.

CONCLUSION Starting a business is a lot like having a baby. It gets really uncomfortable the closer you get to your due date, but when it's all said and done, it's all worth it!

I was recently listening to a podcast that I just found Authentic Influencer. Both hosts have similar backgrounds to me. They both have network marketing businesses and one of the hosts actually homeschools her children. But on this particular episode, they were discussing how to honor your submission as a wife when you are the breadwinner. Both of these women have already gotten to a point in their paths where they could retire their husbands and one of the hosts mentioned the opportunity to be a FULL-TIME FAMILY. It truly resonated with me so much and I really began to meditate on the concept of full-time family.

But then I started to wonder…why are there now terms for things that were simple and self-explanatory? We often have these terms and labels such as “attachment parenting", etc. These terms describe now, what used to be called FAMILY.

We’ve used technology and definitely certain ideologies to bring us away from the simple things and the things that matter most.

As our families grow, and circumstances change in our lives, we must look at and sometimes change systems and processes in order to help them home run efficiently. The same is true in business. As your business grows, you must adapt your systems and processes in order to welcome and accommodate the growth. This is when the question arises “What can I delegate? What can I outsource to make better use of my time.” On this episode, I’ll share how you can answer those questions for yourself at home and at work.

Choose What’s Most Important To You * Prioritize your life * Prioritize your business goals * Be honest

Identify Where Your Presence is Necessary Do you HAVE to post every social media post or is that something you can schedule?

Do you have to dust the corner of the window sill or is that something you can identify?

Do you need a cleaning staff or a meal service? I am a huge advocate for domestic management, but to me, it is just that, management. Having a maid does not mean that you are not taking care of your duties, it means that you are. Your presence isn’t necessary for cleaning the back of the refrigerator, but it is necessary for the rearing of your children.

When Not to OutSource Ensure that your outsourcing is not in conflict with your priorities, morals, and values.

Successful People Build Teams There is nothing noble about doing everything on your own.

Inspired by the book and concept of Professionalizing Motherhood, I’ll discuss some strategies on how to level up your business as a professional.

Part 1: Start with Your Mindset You will hear me speak about the mindset a lot in business. After reflecting on my first year as an entrepreneur, I realize that this has been the most important thing I could have done and continue to do for my business.

Resources:

  • Bible
  • YT
  • Podcasts
  • Books/Audible

Part 2: Create New Habits There is a popular saying “Success leaves clues” Highly effective people are known to be creatures of habit. Many successful entrepreneurs have daily routines, tasks, and rituals even Steve Jobs wore the same thing every day.

  • Create Habits for your home and business
  • Have a list of home tasks you do daily to maintain your home
  • Have daily tasks that you do for your business (and do them!!)
  • Identify what new habits you want to adopt by reverse engineering your goals. Look at each goal that you have in your business, look at the time frame you’d like to achieve those goals in, and then create concrete tasks that you can implement over time to achieve the results that you want.

Books on Habit:

  • The Compound Effect
  • The Power of Habit
  • Atomic Habits

Part 3: Run on: Just to See What the End will be The final step is to keep going, to “run on”. In business, in parenting, in marriage, in life, we must maintain the course, we must run on. We will never professionalize anything if we quit.
