What does it actually mean to build a community—and how do you create relationships where people feel truly seen, valued, and connected?

In this episode of The Expert Speaker Podcast, Majeed Mogharreban sits down with Justine Magic Bean, community builder, tech advisor, and self-described Heart Scholar, for a wide-ranging conversation about community, belonging, friendship, love, and the power of creating meaningful human connection.

Justine shares a powerful distinction between an audience and a true community: in a real community, people aren't simply connected to a brand, leader, product, or experience—they're creating value and relationships with one another.

Drawing from her experience building communities around the world and her work helping launch a modern matchmaking company in New York, Justine explains why the strongest communities often grow through the things that don't scale: personal invitations, thoughtful follow-ups, shared experiences, generosity, and genuinely caring about the whole person.

The conversation also gets personal as Justine shares her own journey from struggling to feel like she belonged to becoming someone who has built friendships and communities around the world. She and Majeed explore unconventional ways of thinking about friendship, commitment, romantic and non-romantic relationships, and what it means to love someone in the way they actually need to be loved.

They also discuss Justine's journey to becoming a more confident communicator—and why intentionally stepping into uncomfortable areas like public speaking can become an important part of personal and professional growth.

In this episode, you'll discover:

  • The difference between an audience and a true community
  • Why the best communities create value between members—not just between the leader and the members
  • How shared experiences can accelerate belonging and connection
  • Why doing the unscalable things can be one of the most powerful ways to build community
  • How generosity and a "give first" mentality change the way you enter a room
  • Why meaningful follow-up matters when building relationships
  • How technology can actually help us become more thoughtful friends
  • Why friendship deserves the same intentionality we often reserve for romantic relationships
  • How to create spaces that make it easier for strangers to connect
  • The difference between saying "I love you" and "I love you because..."
  • Why loving someone requires understanding how they need to be loved
  • How Justine thinks differently about friendship, commitment, and "life partners"
  • Why there doesn't have to be one predetermined roadmap for meaningful relationships
  • The role communication and presentation skills played in building Justine's professional confidence
  • Why growth often requires intentionally choosing an uncomfortable edge

Key Takeaways

A community isn't the same thing as an audience. An audience primarily receives value from you. A true community creates opportunities for people to connect, exchange value, build relationships, and eventually create experiences that don't depend entirely on the person or company that originally brought them together.

Do the things that don't scale. Personal messages, thoughtful introductions, remembering important details, gathering people around a table, and following up individually take time—but they're often what make someone feel like they genuinely belong.

Walk into the room asking, "Who can I help?" Instead of immediately looking for the person who can advance your career, become a client, introduce you to someone, or provide an opportunity, Justine encourages approaching relationships from generosity first.

People want permission to connect. Sometimes creating community isn't about designing an elaborate event. Small environmental cues, thoughtful seating arrangements, conversation starters, or even something as simple as a pin that says "Ask me about love" can lower the barrier between strangers.

Be specific with your love and appreciation. Rather than simply telling someone "I love you," Justine explores the practice of saying, "I love you because..." and naming exactly what you appreciate about that person.

Relationships don't have to fit into predetermined boxes. Romantic relationships have established milestones and labels, but friendships and other meaningful relationships often don't. Justine challenges us to think more creatively and intentionally about commitment, friendship, family, and the many different ways people can share a life.

Confidence can be built deliberately. Justine didn't pursue presentation coaching because public speaking came naturally. She pursued it because it was an edge she wanted to strengthen. Over time, deliberate practice helped her communicate the confidence she already felt in her work.

About Justine Magic Bean

Justine Magic Bean is a community builder, tech advisor, relationship thinker, and emerging Heart Scholar whose work centers around creating deeper human connection and belonging.

Her approach to community is rooted in generosity, thoughtful experience design, personal connection, and a willingness to do the things that don't scale. After years of building relationships and communities around the world, she now brings that experience into the technology and relationship space, helping create experiences that combine innovation with meaningful human touch.

Her personal journey—from struggling to feel a true sense of belonging to becoming a connector and community builder for people around the world—has deeply shaped her philosophy on friendship, love, commitment, and what it means to help people feel genuinely seen.

In this episode, Majeed sits down with Kyle Gray, founder of The Story Engine, to talk about what makes a powerful story, why so many experts struggle to choose the right one, and how speakers can move beyond information into true emotional connection.

Kyle shares his process for helping business owners, leaders, and professional speakers uncover the stories that actually resonate with their ideal clients. He explains why the best stories often aren't the obvious "success" stories, but the moments connected to struggle, shame, uncertainty, and transformation.

They also explore how AI is changing the speaking industry, what AI can and cannot replace, and why the human transformation that happens through crafting and delivering a signature talk still matters deeply.

Key Highlights:

  • Why speakers often struggle to find the right story
  • How to access stories through emotion instead of overthinking
  • Why your client's pain should shape the story you tell
  • The danger of building a talk around yourself instead of the audience
  • How AI can support creativity without replacing deep human transformation
  • Why a signature talk is more than a sales tool — it can help you become more aligned with who you are
  • How short-form content can help you practice and sharpen your bigger message
  • Why stories help us make meaning in uncertain times

Tools + Takeaways:

  • Start by identifying the three biggest problems your ideal client is facing
  • Ask what they are really afraid of beneath the surface
  • Notice where that emotion shows up in your body
  • Ask yourself: "When have I felt this before?"
  • Use that story to show your audience that you understand them
  • Let AI support your process, but don't outsource your voice, meaning, or humanity
  • Remember: the right story is not always the most impressive story — it's the one that creates connection

Notable Quotes:

"Your brain redacts most of the right stories."

"We want to paint our clients' language on our own stories."

"Most speakers build a talk for themselves instead of something that really serves the audience."

"When you start telling your story differently, you look at yourself differently."

"We all have an individual opportunity to pick up our pen and finish the story the way we want."

In this episode of the Expert Speaker Podcast, I sit down with Josh Terry — a creator, coach, and thinker known for saying sharp things in very few words. We unpack why so many smart, capable people stay stuck, and how real momentum often comes from doing less, not more.

Josh shares the counterintuitive idea that trying to fix your weaknesses might actually be holding you back — in business, creativity, and leadership. We talk about mastery, creative freedom, productivity, and why operating well within your strengths creates far better results than constantly pushing at the edge of your abilities

.

Key Takeaways * Give up on what you're bad at Growth accelerates when you stop forcing yourself to improve weaknesses that drain you and instead build around what already works. * Mastery comes from ease, not struggle People don't want what you can barely deliver. Mastery is built by repeatedly doing what's well within your competence — and letting that competence expand naturally. * Your strengths are often invisible to you Many of our strongest capabilities formed early in life, which makes them feel "normal" and easy to overlook — even though they're where our greatest leverage lives. * Stop copying the "right way" to create Josh explains how abandoning standard advice (eye contact, memorization, perfect delivery) led to his biggest breakthroughs and viral growth. * Productivity isn't about pressure Some people thrive under pressure. Others shut down. Understanding whether you respond better to pressure or space can radically change how you work. * Eliminate infinite time sinks Endless distractions (scrolling, gaming, mindless consumption) kill momentum. Replacing them with finite breaks helps you return to focused work faster.

Notable Quotes * "Nobody wants what you can just barely deliver." * "Mastery comes from repeatedly doing something that is well within your competence." * "We're not supposed to make our weaknesses our day job." * "If you stop trying to look like who you're not, you can finally create something real."

Action Steps * Make a list of what drains you vs. what feels easy and effective — and ruthlessly reduce the former * Identify one strength you've dismissed as "too obvious" and lean into it this week * Replace infinite distractions with finite breaks (walks, stretching, sitting quietly) * Ask yourself: What could I create if I stopped trying to fix myself first?

Listen If You Are * A founder, creator, or leader feeling stuck despite working hard * Someone overwhelmed by "do more, be better" advice * A creative who wants to find their real voice * Looking for a smarter, calmer way to grow without burning out

Key Takeaways: The Hustle Trap vs. True Success Rebecca reveals how she realized her so-called dream life—money, business, accolades—was a mask for deeper dissatisfaction. Success isn't what you have; it's how free and fulfilled you feel.

Your Legacy Starts Now You don't build a legacy "someday." You build it through daily choices, aligned values, and intentional leadership. Rebecca explains how to shift from chasing success to creating significance.

Coaching for Soul-Level Change Rebecca's work goes beyond surface strategy. She shares how she guides her clients through healing emotional pain, uprooting limiting beliefs, and stepping into their highest leadership.

Why You Must Heal to Lead Well Unprocessed pain limits impact. Rebecca discusses how emotional healing and self-worth are non-negotiables for healthy leadership, meaningful relationships, and sustainable success.

Build a Business That Doesn't Break You Rebecca now coaches others to create thriving lives and businesses without sacrificing their health, families, or faith. Her model blends mindset, healing, and bold action.

Notable Quotes: "I had the house, the money, the clients—and I was miserable. That's when I knew something had to change." – Rebecca Mountain "You can't build a legacy if you're constantly burned out, checked out, or living for someone else's version of success." – Rebecca Mountain "Healing is not a luxury—it's a leadership imperative." – Rebecca Mountain "You were made to live a life that excites you, not just one that impresses others." – Rebecca Mountain

What if the thing holding you back from your next breakthrough isn't a lack of skill—but a lingering sense that you don't belong?

In this powerfully honest episode of the Expert Speaker Podcast, executive coach and “Forgiveness Coach” Dionne Nicholls-Germain sits down with Majeed to explore the deeper roots of imposter syndrome, and why so many high-performing women secretly question their worth—despite the titles, accolades, and success.

Dionne shares how unforgiveness (especially self-unforgiveness) quietly sabotages leadership, fulfillment, and confidence—and how reclaiming your power starts with a radical practice of compassion and courage. Drawing from her own story of reinvention, her keynote work in boardrooms around the world, and the tools in her 90-Day Conquering Unforgiveness Journal, Dionne equips us with a new lens for personal growth, executive leadership, and emotional freedom.

Notable Quotes: * “At some point, someone’s going to find out I don’t belong.” * “Confidence doesn’t come before the action—it comes from the action.” * “Forgiveness is not a feeling—it’s a conscious decision to release what’s no longer serving you.” * “If you’re feeling stuck in your career, your purpose, or your relationships—check your heart.” * “Forgiveness is good business.”

Meet the Guest: Dionne Nicholls-Germain is a professionally trained Life & Leadership Coach known as The Forgiveness Coach. After leaving a 20-year corporate fashion career as a single mom at 40, Dionne reinvented herself—and now helps other women do the same. Through her company Live Your Best Life for You, she empowers female executives and entrepreneurs to heal, lead, and thrive.

In this deeply personal and eye-opening episode, Majeed Mogharreban sits down with Hyatt Saikin, a master Rolfer and structural integration expert based in Ottawa, Canada.

After battling debilitating sciatic pain and trying everything from massage therapy to chiropractic and acupuncture—with no relief—Majeed shares how just three sessions of Rolfing® with Hyatt got him standing straight and living nearly pain-free.

Together, they explore the power of fascia, the importance of postural alignment, and how Rolfing® can help the body move with ease, grace, and freedom from pain. Hyatt brings his decades of experience and a compassionate approach to healing, helping people get out of pain and back into their lives.

Key Takeaways ✅ What Is Rolfing®? – A hands-on therapy focused on reorganizing the connective tissue (fascia) to restore balance and ease in the body.

✅ Why Your Pain Might Not Be “Muscular” or “Skeletal” – Discover how fascial adhesion could be the real culprit—and why traditional massage and chiropractic care often miss the mark.

✅ Release, Don’t Force – Rolfing helps guide the body back into alignment through trained, precise, and often gentle touch that releases and rehydrates fascia.

✅ Gravity Is Your Friend—If You Know How to Stand – Hyatt explains how posture affects pain, mobility, and energy, and how to let gravity flow through you instead of work against you.

In this thought-provoking episode of the Expert Speaker Podcast, host Majeed Mogharreban sits down with Max Stossel, a poet, storyteller, and advocate for digital well-being, to explore the power of words, creativity, and the hidden impact of social media on our minds and relationships.

Max shares his journey into poetry and performance, the inspiration behind his upcoming play, and how he uses spoken word to ignite meaningful conversations. He also dives deep into the psychological effects of social media, the challenges of being a modern artist, and the balance between passion and profitability.

If you’re curious about art as a tool for transformation, the business of creativity, or how to navigate social media more mindfully, this episode is for you.

Key Takeaways ✅ From Fear of Death to Fear That There is No Death – How a psychedelic experience transformed Max’s understanding of consciousness and the afterlife.

✅ The Power of Poetry & Performance – How hearing a spoken word poem changed Max’s life forever and set him on a creative journey.

✅ Social Media & Mental Health – The hidden dangers of smartphone addiction, how it affects kids' development, and practical strategies to set healthier boundaries.

✅ Parenting in the Digital Age – Why delaying a child’s first smartphone leads to better mental health outcomes, and how parents can navigate peer pressure around technology.

✅ The Business of Art – Max shares his unique approach to funding creative projects, why he separates art from income, and how he balances financial sustainability with artistic freedom.

✅ "It's a Miracle" – Max’s Upcoming Play – An Off-Broadway-inspired performance that explores death, birth, psychedelics, and consciousness through storytelling and poetry.

Memorable Quotes 🗣️ “Fear of what your kids are missing out on with no phone is so much stronger than what they’re actually missing out on.” – Max Stossel 🗣️ “A smartphone is better called an ‘infinite access to everything machine.’ It’s a self-comparison machine, a dopamine machine, and we’re handing it to kids before they’re ready.” – Max Stossel 🗣️ “I wanted to create art that plants seeds. You don’t always see the impact, but every once in a while, someone comes back and tells you how it changed them.” – Max Stossel 🗣️ “Theater still feels like a sacred space. Unlike social media, it demands presence.” – Max Stossel 🗣️ “I separate my art from my income so I can create what I love, not what pays the bills.” – Max Stossel

Action Steps 🎯 Set Boundaries with Social Media – Try using OneSec (the app Max recommends) to pause before opening Instagram and reflect on whether you really need to scroll.

🎯 Delay Smartphones for Kids – If you're a parent, consider delaying your child’s first smartphone and opt for a basic phone instead to preserve childhood and social skills.

🎯 Redefine Your Relationship with Technology – Turn off notifications that aren’t from real humans, charge your phone outside the bedroom, and replace screen time with meaningful activities.

🎯 Support Creative Work That Moves You – If you’re inspired by Max’s work, attend his play, follow his poetry, and support artists creating impactful work.

🎯 Balance Art & Business – Whether you’re an artist or entrepreneur, consider separating passion projects from your main income source to maintain creative freedom.

Final Thoughts Poetry, storytelling, and art have the power to change minds and plant seeds of transformation. Max Stossel’s work challenges us to rethink our relationship with social media, embrace deeper consciousness, and approach art with intention.
