Lighthouse Point Saltwater Sportsman Association is a long standing fishing club in the area. It wasn’t until recently that this “Gentleman’s club” opened its doors to female anglers. Since then, the club has grown in membership and mindset. On this episode we are joined by Jackie Sabins, Carolyn Stash, Lindsey Tenberg, and Nicole Zapetis. All prominent local anglers. The hijacking of the Rapscallion has long been a story told in bits and pieces and has become the stuff of legend. For those that don’t know the tale, Captain Larry Withall and then Mate, Jason “Tiny” Walcott were abducted at gunpoint during a hired charter during a crossing over to the Bahamas. That’s the short of it. To say that the details of this narrative are intense is a gross understatement. Up until now it’s been a lore of oral tradition. Recently, while conducting a scientific-based research excursion, so-called “enviromentalists” took matters into their own hands thinking they were cutting illegal longlines. Well it turns out that “illegal tackle” was not only perfectly legal, but also sanctioned by NOAA for shark research.
