As long time family friends we have Lorelei and Jonah Bennett join the show. This is a special episode for me. I’ve watched both of these individuals grow up in the community and flourish into badass anglers. It’s bittersweet as Connected By Water will be losing its #1 employee, Lorelei. We sit down and discuss all things fishing and pompano as both Lorelei and Jonah will be off to the University of Florida. #ConnectedByWater #Weareallconnectedbywater #PompanoBeach #Waypointtv #sirreelfishingteam #joeyaccardi #TheWsauce #Papaspilar #neveraspectator #EatDrinkBeLocal #EDBL #Finnor #Finnorsunglasses Learn more about your ad choices. We highlight safety, strategy and share all things diving. I always enjoy connecting before the chaos ensues as mini-season has turned into a Florida Holiday.

Lighthouse Point Saltwater Sportsman Association is a long standing fishing club in the area. It wasn’t until recently that this “Gentleman’s club” opened its doors to female anglers. Since then, the club has grown in membership and mindset. On this episode we are joined by Jackie Sabins, Carolyn Stash, Lindsey Tenberg, and Nicole Zapetis. All prominent local anglers. We discuss the club, growth strategy and fun trips on the water. The ladies brought it out of me and plenty of Papa’s Pilar was consumed on Episode 158!

A mutual friend of ours introduced Elmer to me as a “Healer”. After this episode, I’d agree but also like to add “Giver”. What Elmer does for the community both on and off the water is simply amazing. Previously competing in the X-Games; Elmer now splits his time as a Physical Therapist Assistant and Backcountry Guide. The stories around Elmer’s start in fly-fishing followed by what he believes to be his life’s purpose is amazing. As tradition, this is our yearly Papa’s Pilar episode. It’s always a a party in the studio and this time I shared the table with an all star crew. To sit across from Jeff and Bouncer was nothing short of an industry history lesson. Jeff was a founding member of Bonefish Tarpon Trust and has been a steward of our flats fishing industry globally for over 25 years. The stories that were shared of Florida’s early Tarpon and Bonefish will leave you scratching your head. Today, the mission of BTT involves using science to better understand our ecosystem, spawning habits, and conservations methods for the future. I look forward to more episodes with both Jeff and Bouncer as we couldn’t fit all the information into one!  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Citizen science! Imagine having your business and livelihood ripped away from you without warning by a group of misinformed minions. Sharks!!!!! For captains, commercial fisherman and recreational anglers alike they’re becoming a reel problem. What can be done about it? For certain, it’s a true and hot topic. One of the coolest parts about working in this crazy fishing world are the friends you gain along the way. It’s always nice to bring a couple of my boys on to the show. During this particular podcast of course we had some laughs, but we found out something all three of us had in common that I think will bond us forever. At times it was shallow, at times it definitely got deep. And it's still a damn shame they wouldn't take me fishing afterwards. About a year ago, my buddy Ricky took the leap and left his previous career behind to follow his dream to be a full time charter captain. If anyone can relate to what that first year of leaving the security of a vested career is like it’s me. He joined me on the podcast to tell some fishing stories, talk about boater safety and share what it’s been like balancing his full time fishing life while still being there as a father. Just a couple of guys swapping experiences over a nice bottle of Papa’s Pilar rum. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

We’re back and kicking off 2020 with a bang! Lighthouse Point’s own Florida House Representative, Chip LaMarca (R), truly represents the people on both sides of the aisle. Especially when it comes to matters on clean water and protecting Florida’s precious natural resources. To say we are are proud to have him come on to our Connected By Water Podcast presented by Joey Accardi is an incredible understatement. Chip offered insight on some of our recent local sewer break issues and what needs to be done to make sure this gets handled right for now and the future. He also enlightened us on much of the work the state has done recently to keep all things environmental in check, initiatives that strive towards allowing Florida student athletes to work, eliminating ground damaging septic tanks and more! At Connected By Water we enjoy celebrating the Christmas Season with our friends. So, who better to invite into the studio then the one and only Fly Navarro? At times this conversation with the Crazy Cuban got deep and ‘biblical.’ When Fly and I get together we could go on forever and I’m not sure there was a topic we didn’t cover. From being a seasoned professional captain for decades, catching sailfish in the Red Sea, teaching all of Asia how to run a fishing tournament and traveling to all corners of the earth just hoping to see the Northern Lights, Fly seemingly has done it all… But he would argue that he hasn’t even begun.
