I want you to know it’s possible for you to love to live. Really and truly. I’m here to take you on the ultimate personal development journey filled with real talk and practical tools so you can make the shift from your old self and start thriving — maybe for the first time ever — today.

I want you to practice something. This will be hard. The next invitation that comes in, unless it’s a HECK YES, say no.

If there is an invitation that lights you up and you cannot WAIT to yes to, then say yes. Even if you have to move some things around to make it happen. We want to fill our world with things that bring us joy and bring out the best in us.

But the opposite is also true. If you get an invitation in your inbox and immediately you think, “Ugh, that is the last thing I want to put in our schedule,” then reply no. If it gives you anxiety and you have to jump through hoops to make it work, it may not be worth it.

Let’s talk about the days when you feel like you’ve failed at all of this. (Spoiler alert: You will from time to time, or a lot, or a little…until you practice enough, and even still you won’t get it right all the time.)

There are some (many) people that are not used to talking through things. They tend to get very uncomfortable, angry when they feel pushed against the wall, or they shut down because they simply are not used to it.

One thing I try to do when I know something will catch someone off-guard and know they will not receive a “oh by the way I want to talk about something” well, is prepare them.

I have talked before about kids. They really are so smart. They pick up on social cues and use them in their life. They will watch you, your face, your actions, your reactions, and they will mimic what you do. Scared yet? Well maybe you should be…a little.

You are not here to just keep your kids safe, loved, fed, and watered. You are also here, and it’s your responsibility, to teach them by your actions, your thoughts, and your reactions how to handle the current of life.

I wanted to be someone that people could count on. I wanted to be someone with integrity, love, and peace that people needed in their life. I wanted so deeply to have healthy connection with my family, my friends, and my coworkers.

I knew I could not have those things if I was going to continue to make excuses for why I didn’t show up, or why I said what I said behind my coworker’s back, or why I was able to let someone else’s unhealthy behavior wreck my entire day.

And that is why learning healthy and loving boundaries helped me to really live a full life, for the first time ever.

One of the reasons I love the people I do life with is that they are not afraid to challenge me. And I know it’s all out of love. They love me enough to keep me in check. This is one of the many reasons it’s so important to have solid people in your circle.

If I am living out healthy boundaries I have to remember this world is not just about me. I can have my beliefs and nobody can take those away, but I also need to love and respect others when they don’t agree.

We talk about honesty a lot when we talk about boundaries. Honesty is very important because self-awareness is the beginning of acting from truth, and good healthy boundaries come from really dialed in self-awareness. So…you can be really honest with people about your boundaries journey.

As I learned about boundaries, grew, and implemented them into my life, I learned that to show grace was very important. And I know it’s hard to even think about showing grace when maybe you have had a tumultuous relationship with someone and you are desperately trying to use boundaries to have peace. But grace we must show.

Showing and giving grace does not in ANY WAY take away from the pain that this person’s lack of self-awareness has caused us, it just completes the circle of empathy that I believe God has designed.

Have you dreamed and longed for an easy relationship? A friendship that wasn’t always about reading between the lines? A work relationship that didn’t have you walking on egg shells? A relationship with your relatives that didn’t leave you drained and crying after the gathering?

I know sometimes it feels like life will always be difficult and you will always have to do life with difficult people, but I promise you that is just not true.

Everyone has their own voice, their unique way of speaking. I love that. And because of that it is easier to discern sometimes how people are really feeling or what they are thinking when you hear THEIR voice talking. This is so nice when you are implementing boundaries because it keeps you, you, but you are also able to use your boundary language.

Let’s say you have two siblings-in-law. One is very delightful and you get along with them great! The other is not so delightful. This one brings the negative energy into a room every time. They are disagreeable about most things, make everything about them and basically just cause a ruckus during every family function. What do you do?

Neediness is boundary crossing. I am not talking about us needing our spouse to love us and accept us or us needing our friends to be there for us when we are crumbling from a tragedy. I am talking about the neediness that has crossed into a dangerous place of co-dependence. So much so that our neediness is becoming an issue in our relationship. That is when we are crossing people’s boundaries, and if they are co-dependently needy for us too, they are crossing ours.

A word to my adult audience that find themselves trying to make new friends in this season of child rearing… Give the friendship time to grow and to develop.

This life can be tough enough, so going it alone without friendships sounds awful. Don’t miss out! Start praying for God to bring you those friends that may not look like you but will be a fun and trusting friend. Ask God to open your eyes and heart to it and to give you the courage to let someone in.

People are not entitled to know our thoughts just because we are in a group with them. We can be kind, outgoing, fun, and loving to EVERYONE, but when it comes to our deepest thoughts, maybe they aren’t for everyone. They are for a select few that we have done life with, who have earned our trust, and we have earned theirs.

We need friends. We are made for community. God made us to be in community with Him! And if He needs and seeks community and we are made in His image, well then….

Friends are so special. But friendships require boundaries too. Friendships that stand the test of time take TIME…they need give, take, grace, tough (but kind) love, and understanding. This will form deep bond and connections and that are not easily severed.

Would you like to know a beautiful way of deepening relationship?

Be at peace with being wrong.

On the surface level, nobody likes being wrong. We want to feel like we have it together, like we have it all right and that it’s everyone else that doesn’t. Because if we are wrong, that opens up many feelings and emotions we would rather act like aren’t there. If we admit we are wrong, we might start feeling inferior to the other person. If we admit that we are wrong, we have to acknowledge that we might have been wrong about other things. This is not an easy place.

But I promise you it’s freeing. When we can remove our ego and start getting to the place where we can admit we are not right about everything, we can rest.

Are you a runner? Do you run from your problems?

I know that seems easier. I get it. I have done it in the past and honestly, on a surface level, it is easier. But we aren’t called to live on the surface level.

We can evolve. We can grow. We can learn to stay and fight. And I promise, it is worth it. Every time. Because we learn something that helps us the next time.

Holding people accountable for things we haven’t communicated…it’s not fair.

Communication gets easier the more you do it. I believe it’s because when we practice dropping our ego we realize, feel, and learn that we have nothing to hide and that whatever direction the talk goes, we are ok with it even if it comes out that we brought some of the yucky stuff to the situation.

Give people a chance. Show them you love them enough to work through whatever is happening.

If we have chosen to get married and start a family, we have chosen to put them before anything else. If our family or anyone in our family really needs us, we need to prioritize accordingly.

Our commitments are part of boundaries. And there is not a more important commitment than the emotional health of the family we decided to start.

Having a healthy relationship with people doesn’t mean you will agree with everything they think, do, or say. There will be disagreements. And that’s ok.

Don’t shy away from conversations and acquaintances because you are afraid you are too different. You can love them well and uphold your boundaries, too.

If we are to take responsibility for our stuff, that also means our schedule and scheduling conflicts and the ramifications of when we try and fit too much in.

This is a pain point for a lot of people and one thing that I probably have the most trouble with. I am a mom of three and a business owner and those titles come with a lot of events and last-minute to-do’s. BUT I am still responsible for my yes’s, so if there is a conflict that rests on me, I need to take the necessary steps to make sure all parties are taken care of.

Many people in the customer service industry have cancellation, late, or no-show policies. If you have made an appointment and for whatever reason you will have to cancel, come late, or you’ve forgotten about it altogether because it was not on your calendar, then it is our responsibility to take care of the person providing the service.

Boundaries are not about someone winning and someone losing. When implemented in healthy ways, boundaries can help everyone win.

We can all be very competitive. Not just in the obvious things like sports but in relationships too. We want to have the upper hand. We want to be in control. We want to be two steps “ahead.” Why? So we don’t feel pain, so our ego is not damaged, so we win.

If your desire is to be in healthy relationship (because if you are reading this I think we can all agree that kind of relationship above is not healthy), then we have to be prepared and ok to let go of our need to control and the need to win. We need to develop the desire to see and uncover the other person’s heart over making sure they are put in their place.

Ghosting people to prove a point or to manipulate…please stop doing it.

Likewise, replying to a text or email that you very much are frustrated by, saying “blessings,” or “Hope you are having the best day!” etc., just leave it off.

These things, among other ways we “stick it to the man,” are obvious and not at all healing or productive for either party.

This is part of checking your intentions. I have spoken about it before, and it’s a part of implementing healthy boundaries that is worth repeating.

Healthy boundaries produce healthy communication. The more communication we have in this world that is healthy creates a trickle-down effect and helps everyone.

When you are open about your needs, go the distance to do the work to make plans to get them met while also considering your priorities. Then when you do have that time alone, with your friends or shopping until you drop, you can enjoy it even more.

This is a very good beginner boundary baby step you can start practicing now.

I like to get it ALL right. I don’t like letting people down but y’all, sometimes it will happen. Even if you are a GURU at boundaries and personal development.

If it causes a break in a relationship, try and mend it. If it’s not looking mendable, pray the Lord gives you a do over at a later time. And then let it go.

We will try to get it right but we know we may not, and that is ok because tomorrow is anew.

Not everyone is going to have the same emphasis on certain boundary issues that you do. There is something that may trigger you like crazy but it doesn’t bother someone else. In my opinion, that is ok. Our goal is to be peaceful and healthy, and if your friend isn’t bothered then that is a peaceful place to be. Now let’s get YOU there.

I want you to feel the freedom of implementing boundaries but also feel freedom that when you have done the work, these things may not bother you anymore either. Eureka! This could be your future. And I so hope it is.

Dr. Henry Cloud said this: “No one changes until the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing.”

Where are you on this scale?

I dipped my toe into the initial rough waters of change a few times before I realized that it was more painful to stay where I was. But what I found out was that the waters became calmer almost immediately when I shoved the busy thoughts out of the way and took my place as the person responsible for the changing. Not completely calm, but calmer. Do you know why I think that happened? Because my inner person, my core, the soul created in the image of God, me, finally took a deep breath and was grateful I wouldn’t have to run anymore.

I can’t answer the question for you. This is something that only you know.

We love our people. We want everyone to get along. If we are the peacemaker it eats us up more than others when there is conflict. To my peacemakers: boundaries will save you from a lifetime of heartache.

Families and tight-knit friend groups can be very emotionally layered. So, trying to set boundaries with a certain person in that group can be difficult.

You have your emotions, your past experiences, that person’s emotions and past experiences, and the emotions of the other people in your circle or family unit. And believe it or not, everyone has experienced the past differently. So one thing that you feel strongly about that happened in the past that has led to this emotional reaction to this person, the other people in this group could have no clue what you’re talking about, BUT they have other issues.

As sad as it is for the group to all have issues with this person, the boundary setting is just about your property. You cannot force people to take up boundary setting when they are not ready. You can’t make it important to them or expect them to “back” you on this or that. If you are wanting change, it starts with you.

I had a girl text me this past week regarding her parents’ visit to her normally happy home. She talked about how she loves her parents, but that her dad (and how he responds and reacts to things) really triggers her and makes it hard for her to set healthy boundaries.

When we are dealing with ANYONE that has been stuck for a long time in their ways and has had ZERO accountability about the way they respond, react, their actions, etc., it can be very hurtful, frustrating, and really draining.

We most surely have triggers that can completely remove us from a happy and healthy place. These triggers usually happen so fast, and before we know it we are saying things that we know are not from a healthy place. And then we get so mad at ourselves for being triggered, so we want to just toss it all out of the window and call it a fail and a loss.

DON’T! Please don’t. Push through. Try again.

Do you want to know a secret? It’s something that we don’t talk about a ton or really put any emphasis on, but here it is.

Everything you feel, you think, you go through when navigating relationships? Everyone on earth has gone through, is going through, or will go through the EXACT same things.

If someone does something for you and then expects that to be weighed when it comes to the next time they need something from you, this is manipulation.

There is no other way to say it. It isn’t right.

If someone does something for you it should be because they genuinely want to. There should be zero strings attached. And when YOU do something for someone else, you should not expect anything in return.

There is not enough room in our relationships for manipulation and control.

This boundaries journey is not about controlling other people, it is about changing the way you are operating around these people.

That said, I do want to remind you that there are people with toxic behavior out there. You have them in your family, your friend groups, your churches, etc. You will mostly likely not totally get away from dealing with people that engage in toxic behavior. And honestly it is a beautiful time to practice boundaries. Remember, these people are asleep in their minds. Most of them do not know what you have come to learn yet.

It’s not our job to wake them up, but when they are in our lives we will have to exercise boundaries that just may help them in the future.

This is a friendly reminder that you are not your past. You are not your upbringing. You are not how you were parented and raised. You are not the mistakes you think you made. You are not what anyone has said you were over your life span.

You are made in the image of Christ. You have his breath in your lungs. You are made of light, love, harmony, grace, mercy, and peace.

Now knowing that, you are responsible for living that way. And you, at any moment, can change the trajectory of your life.

Something I observed about myself long ago when I started this personal development journey was that I talked too much. I talked so much but I wasn’t saying a whole lot. And that was a big aha moment.

I started noticing this when I read a quote that said; “Talk less, say more.” And right then I asked myself, “What am I actually saying?”

This is a VERY powerful practice.

We are responsible for our stuff. Our thoughts are our stuff. When the thought pops in your head that you have so much to do today, look at it, acknowledge it, write the things down if you want to do that real quick, and then keep focused on the present.

When the thoughts come in that you are not looking forward to going to work, that everyone at work is hard to deal with, watch those thoughts, let them pass, and then when you are back to YOU — the one made in the imago Dei — ask yourself why you are not ok at your work. What about it doesn’t make you feel safe? Does it trigger something from childhood? Ok, then we can get somewhere. It may not be the people. The people may represent something that you need to deal with, something that you need to let go of.

Take that first step in quieting down your brain, letting go of the resistance you feel, and in the present dealing with what is at the core of this issue that comes up. Do what YOU can to take care of your stuff. Don’t worry about if anyone else is. You do what you can do.

To piggy back off of last week’s Monday Fire episode, we don’t get a do over but we do get a chance to share our wisdom and knowledge with the generations after us. And I believe this is our responsibility.

If we were looking at how the world should work, I think we could all agree that each generation should learn from the last and try to do it better. This is what we are doing when we decide that the suffering our parents did and the suffering that we are putting ourselves through up until this point is madness! We learn, we grow, and we take ownership. You know what we should do next? Model it for the people coming after us. We should show them what didn’t work and teach them what is working.

How do we change the world? We change ourselves. And when we change ourselves we teach the next generation by our behavior and modeling that this is how life should be.

Regrets will steal your beautiful existence. And this might sting but I have to say it: if you stay in regret, you are choosing the suffering. Crazy, right? Why would we do that?

Life is a series of events that work off of the last thing. The last decision, the last word, the last action taken. Those actions, decisions, words happened because of what we perceived the situation to be about. They are done. You are here right now. Nothing you can do or say will allow you to go back. So…start from here and uncover all of the beauty that comes from learning those lessons and growing from them.

Today I wanted to remind you that in this journey of boundaries and of life, certain people’s importance in your life will become less, and some people will simply fall away. You may look at your life right now and think, “Wow I couldn’t imagine in what scenario that would happen,” because until now these folks have been such a staple, but that is how it unfolds.

When we decide we are ready to move more towards our true nature, close to the imago Dei (in the image of God), these things must take place. When we work on ourselves and work to get back to the original soul, you will start noticing that certain people and things that were in your life on the regular do not align with your true nature. You may notice that when you are with them you tend to want to gossip more, brag about your life so you are elevated, or downplay what’s got you excited about life because they are not seeing the same successes.

It doesn’t mean that person is bad or worse than you (and if you are starting to think those thoughts, check your EGO, because we are not here to judge anyone), it doesn’t mean that they won’t figure these things out later and join you on your path again, it just means that for now this relationship does not serve the greater need to be back to our source. Christ.

Boundaries is not about shutting people or things out. Boundaries is about recognizing what you have the bandwidth to do. One is a negative and one very much is a positive.

If you keep saying yes to things but only do them half way because you can’t really commit, say NO! If you do say yes but aren’t able to bring your best, then that will be your responsibility.

We honor people when we are honest with them. If we can’t do another thing, be honest with the person asking something of you.

I think we need to be careful about boundaries and time with kids.

I swore, SWORE, I would never have my kids in more than one activity. But I didn’t follow that rule as they got older. Why? Because I, like every other mom, want my child to have the best opportunities to advance in an activity they are good at.

And it wasn’t like I went out of my way to enroll them in more than one activity. It just kind of creeped in.

After I was that mom that was in the car from 3:30 until dinner time almost every single night, after a few months I was like woah. What is happening? What did I do? And I started re-evaluating everything we were doing. I started looking at the time commitments and the nights we were doing things and seeing what I could knock off the list and what we could do differently. I took stock of what they really loved and what they were just “meh” about.

We want them to do the things they love, but we don’t want everyone stressing out in the process. It is ALL a work in progress and we are all helping each other be accountable.

I was having lunch with a friend who has recently gone through a divorce. She was telling me all she had learned and was learning about life, about herself, and about the grieving process. In every aspect of what she was dealing with there was a common thread. Time.

She had put in the time to date this man, she had put in the time to plan her wedding and to enjoy all of what comes with newly being married, but once married, with the nagging feeling something was not right and that their relationship was starting to get very unbalanced, she didn’t take the time to explore that. Whether or not she was scared about the realization she would have come to, I don’t know, but she didn’t take the time needed to fence around her stuff and just reflect.

Had she stopped the hurry, the hustle, the flow of life as it was, committed to seeing something tough or having tough conversations, maybe it would have made a difference. But she didn’t know. She had this idea of what her life was supposed to look like and she didn’t want to face the fact that it was damaged.

When we set out on our personal development journey and learn about boundaries when we have never really done so before, we will start to uncover things that we never knew about ourselves. We need to be willing to do that in order to peel the layers back and be open to putting the boundaries in place that we need to put in place.

When my boundaries student says she had a planned sit down with her mother-in-law, it did not end like she hoped…but she did it!

You want to honor her because in your heart you want to be a happy family that has great times together and loves well. Not in unhealthy ways.

You do it knowing boundaries can take years to take root but you are willing to put your ego aside and go the distance.

Stop rescuing your kids every time that they get in a pickle. Because when you do, you are not giving them the tools to make it as confidently as they would and as quick as they would if they started now. That’s our job.

We are entrusted with our children. There are certain age-appropriate boundaries that we must show them so they can act properly in the real world. They’re either going to learn it now or they’re going to learn it later, and unfortunately later comes with a lot more deeper and life-changing consequences.

Us implementing boundaries with our kids is not a fool-proof, fail-safe way of protecting them when they’re older because they are their own person, and they’re going to make their own decisions. But it is our job as parents to shepherd our kids well. And one way we can do that is by making sure they have proper boundaries.

Right now my kids probably don’t think boundaries is a gift, but I know it’s a gift that I’m giving to my children. And one day they will thank me!

Boundaries has become a bit of a buzzword, and these days I think a lot of people are using the term ‘boundaries’ to put walls up, do what they want to do, and treat people the way they want to treat them — but that’s not what boundaries are.

I don’t want people to be turned off by the word boundaries, because no matter how people are using the term, when you learn healthy boundaries and you use them in a healthy way, they are a good thing. And that’s where we want to get to.

Boundaries are not only good for you, they’re good for the other person. And I think that’s what people need to understand. When you utilize and exercise healthy boundaries, you are loving the other person well.

View Details

If you learn anything about boundaries, I hope it’s that the responsibility for change lies with us. If we are waiting for others to take ownership before we do just because we think they are the bigger cause of our frustration, we will be waiting a long time.

Whether it is an ongoing feud with your controlling mom that never quite resolves, or the constant friction with your brother because you both are just so different and haven’t tried to understand one another, or the sudden shake up in a friendship because you are not seeing eye to eye on parenting, any and all of these will require ownership on your part. Because whether we want to admit it or not, we are never fully exempt from throwing words, energy, or negative weight around the situation.

In these instances and other instances like it, once I was able to understand and then use phrases like; “I get it,” “I understand we may not see this the same way,” “I don’t agree with you but I do love you,” etc. and mean it, people’s energy changed around me. They no longer felt threatened or hostile because they didn’t feel hostility coming from me. And hostility can only grow when it has someone challenging it.

Where are all my nice girls? Are you the one that everyone always says, ‘she is so nice, she will do anything for you, she is just the nicest person that I know.’

Now before I go on, let me tell you that it’s not bad to be nice. It’s not bad at all. But I want to tell you there’s a big difference in being kind because you want to and being nice because you feel like you have to.

If you’re saying yes to someone because you feel like you need to do it but you don’t want to do it, if you’re showing up for that person yet again who never shows up for you, if you’re that person who never expresses what they want or what they feel because you want to be nice, that’s a problem, guys.

Anger is an emotion that comes from somewhere, just like all other feelings and emotions. But when we have grown up in unhealthy ways and have unhealthy patterns, sometimes our feelings and emotions are not necessarily directed at the right person, or the right thing at the right time, or for the right purpose.

This is where that patience and time comes in. Really dissecting and getting to the bottom of why you are feeling the way you are feeling, how you can handle it with the actual person or situation that is the root cause of the anger or hurt or whatever else you are feeling, is where we ultimately want to get to.

Here’s the good thing and the hard thing. It could be time to let them go.

Sometimes we must let people go for them to grow and for us to grow. And know they may need to let US go.

If you’re receiving guilt messages, they’re never about you. They’re always about the person sending them. If you’re sending out guilt messages to manipulate, they’re not about the other person, they’re about you and what you want.

For the people that send out guilt messages, this is how they’ve navigated life this far. This is how they’ve stayed in control. This is how they’ve gotten what they want. And when you think about it, why would they change? Why would they change if this has worked for them? They’ve never had to experience adult consequences from the manipulation that comes with guilt messaging.

Practicing and utilizing healthy boundaries will stop those guilt messages from stealing your peace.

Let’s talk boundaries and dating.

Think every guy is the ONE? I used to. So many times I told my friends, “He is it!” Buuuuut no. He wasn’t.

Before learning boundaries and what was MY responsibility in a relationship, I put too much pressure on this person being everything I thought I needed.

That whole time pre-boundaries I was expecting someone to come to the rescue and MAKE me feel all of those things.

But there was one problem. No one has that power.

Do you chronically apologize?

We chronically apologize for many reasons, but one main reason is that we don’t want to experience loss of relationship. And in the past, if we just apologized, things would get back to “normal” quicker.

Isn’t that crazy? Why would we want to have a relationship return back to an unhealthy normal? But it was/is more comfortable than experiencing loss.

When we apologize and we weren’t at fault, we have officially crossed a boundary. We are now taking on the feelings and emotions of others and that isn’t fair. It’s not fair to them or to us.

Learning to set expectations and manage them free from ego is another HUGE piece of the relationship puzzle.

If we are not diving in and digging deep at some point in our lives to figure out, “huh, why does this same pattern keep happening in my love life,” then what do we expect when this relationship goes the same way all of our other relationships have gone?

Jesus is the foundation. But he needs us to act. We are not perfect. Unfortunately we came from broken generations. And it’s our job to dig in and start learning healthy boundaries.

Cultivating meaningful and healthy relationships can all come down to communication.

When we assume that the other party (your husband, boss, siblings, parents, or friends) knows what we expect or need... we set ourselves up for major disappointment.

Expressing and managing expectations is crucial for healthy relationships.

Expectations in marriage play such a major role in the flow of our everyday life. If there is a breakdown in communication resentment starts growing. And before we know it we are mad for really no apparent reason.

There is NO such thing as a perfect marriage. BUT... there are things that can always help improve the connection with our sweeties, starting with communicating expectations.

Love your partner well enough to come to the table with clear wants and needs and communicate those, as well as ask them what they are hoping to get accomplished. Ask them how you can help.

Boundaries are limits to what you will allow in your space. So how do we deal with things like manipulation, gossip, protecting our time, and more?

You don’t have to be rude or mean and build a wall around your heart to protect yourself... you can simply put limits on what you will allow in your life.

If you are blaming your feelings or hurts directly on the person in front of you, boundaries are officially crossed. You have GIVEN them power they should never have. Remember how we feel, what we think, how we respond, react, our words and our actions are OUR responsibility. So a much more productive approach is to own your feelings.

Something I believe hurts us and our families more than we realize is when we as dads and moms choose to go silent during and after disagreements. Yes, the silent treatment.

Today I’m sharing three things that happen over time when the silent treatment is given — and how we can be careful to not disappear on our families.

Our wants, needs, emotions, feelings are all a part of OUR boundaries. As they are for other people. When someone tells you no, it means that they are basing their decision on what’s best for them at that moment in time.  And it’s your responsibility to own your boundaries when you hear the no. If you’re sad, mad, frustrated, these are feelings you are choosing to feel. And I have good news — there is a way to get past this.

If you’re an empath or someone who feels empathy VERY deeply, you might find it hard to put boundaries in place. To empaths, a lot of times boundaries seem very uncomfortable and mean because we empaths feel it is our job to make everyone feel good. But guess what? That is NOT our job.

Boundaries can actually help you be more authentic and loving — and a key to your peace.

Have you ever looked at another couple and thought, man I wish my sweetie and I were like them, or I wish my husband was more like him?

When we are envious we feel like we need more and start becoming resentful that we don’t have it. This is dangerous territory. In a world where almost anything is acceptable now, I think as believers we can fall into that trap. No matter what is seemingly acceptable in 2021, I assure you we as believers are still called to a higher standard.

Our kids have been entrusted to us. They are watching us do everything and will base the way they speak, respond, react, love, argue, etc. on how we do it. That is a fact. Eventually they will grow up and have to become self aware just like we should be, but right now they are not mature enough or grown enough to be self aware, so we as parents are IT for their learning. Us taking ownership and responsibility over our stuff will go SO FAR in training our kids to do the same.

Remember, our kids don’t look at themselves as kids. In their mind they are whole people and feel that their thoughts, feelings, and emotions are just as important as ours, so that is even more of an indication that teaching boundaries from the beginning is essential to raising healthy humans that will truly change the world.

Gaslighting is a form of manipulation in which a person sows seeds of doubt, making the other person question their own judgment or memory. The root of it is about control and passing off responsibility. Have you done that before, or do you know people who have done that to you? It's understandable if you have because a lot of us don't realize we're doing it. We've seen it modeled and have learned that's how we come out of an argument unscathed. But it's also how relationships separate and huge barriers start to appear between the parties. Here's how we can be more aware and correct course when it happens.

The dreams we have were laid on our heart by our Creator. He made us to dream, and shoot for the stars, and to think outside of the box.

Ever since I can remember, I have been a big dreamer. And I think most kids are when they’re little. But then life happens and somewhere along the way, the dreaming becomes less intensive, smaller, and sometimes for people, nonexistent.

If I were with you I would ask you, “What is your most audacious dream?” You would probably tell me something small. To which I would reply, “go bigger.” And we would have this exchange until I saw your face light up and heard the excitement and hope in your voice that maybe, just maybe, it’s not too late.

BUT, we need to put our dreams somewhere visible. We need to put all of them somewhere we see them every. single. day. until they have seeped into our hearts, our subconscious, and are literally being manifested by our faith and belief that God can do BIG things, at ANY time, and with ANYONE!!!

I challenge you to start writing all of the dreams you used to have, and the dreams you have now. Don’t limit yourself. Shoot for something crazy, imaginative, and beautiful. That is what life is. 💛
