Episode 40 of The Descent Is Easy discusses Erchomai, Episode 10 of Season 3 of Shadowhunters.
In which we culminate our long long loooong day of Shadowhunting, which consisted of watching 03x09, podcasting it, then watching the season 3a finale and podcasting that… We refrained from hitting the whiskey but god, we could have done with one of Alec’s drinks because “it’s been quite the day.”
We discuss Edom and meeting Magnus’ infamous father and we wonder how he keeps himself busy, other than by not tidying up his pile of books. We marvel at the beauty of Simon Lewis’ character arc and the combined acting talent of the wonderful actors portraying the Lewis’ family. And we argue the difference between cliff hangers and game changers, and no cookies are handed out for guessing which one is acceptable, and which one is not. Boo.

Episode 39 of The Descent Is Easy discusses Familia Ante Omnia, Episode 9 of Season 3 of Shadowhunters.
In which we discuss the stunning cinematography of the cold open and the show's bravery in revelling in this episode’s gruesomeness – maggotballs and all - and then complain about the number of characters that had to take their moron pills, to get the plot to where it needed to be and Deux Ex Machina-Clary Fairchild… Mostly because this basically means that Magnus Bane and the Shadowhunters have become entirely obsolete. Which totally opens up the beautiful possibilities of Magnus & Alec spending all of Season 3b on a beach, drinking Mojitos so... Barbados here we come!

Episode 29 of The Descent Is Easy discusses Beside Still Water, Episode 20 of Season 2 of Shadowhunters.
This is the end. The end of Season 2. The end of Valentine Morgenstern. The end of Jace Herondale. The end of Alec’s competency… did we say that out loud? Yeah, yeah we did. And we will repeatedly say it in this episode.

By the Light of Dawn, the Season 2a finale, leads us to discuss the weirdness of half seasons and half seasons finales, like two grannies complaining that ‘this kind of thing didn’t happen when we were young…’.
We spend a lot of this episode talking about diversity and representation on television, take a stroll down memory lane reminiscing about BBC’s Merlin, turn into a bit of a PSA about Society, Sexuality and Diversity, before asking the question on the tip of everyone’s tongue… Why exactly are there angelic power cores in all of the institutes? We discuss Bound By Blood, in which, turns out, many things are weird and/or uncomfortable.
Alec’s random stab in the dark guess at his boyfriend’s age is weird. Maia decision to kill Clary is uncomfortable. Aldertree is weird and uncomfortable (No surprise there). Luke’s decision to lock Maia in a cupboard to punish her is off the charts uncomfortable… And then we open the box of Parabatai feelings and implications…

A beautifully filmed, directed and acted epsiode, picking right up from the high standards set last week by the entire Shadowhunters team.
We discuss pain, self-harm, loss, grief, death... This episode of tDiE is an absolute laugh riot, basically. For a bit of levity, we do also debate Harry Shum Jr's height, the warlock case files and Alec's willingness to do anything to make things better with Clary, including building a pyramid of frogs. Obviously.

In which Jace is suicidal, the Clave continue to be a despicable organisation, Izzy discovers Yin Fen, Magnus' back story is further explored, Alec & Clary are forced to work together - which is always delightful - and difficult choices have to be made by all of our core cast.
This episode is jam packed with character development, poignant revelations, beautiful cinematography & directing and stellar acting all around.
