Privada Cigar Club was founded in 2017 by Brian and Ofelia Desind. It is an Orlando, Florida based premium cigar company that began with a monthly subscription model before branching into other forms of premium cigar retail. Privada Cigar Club remains the only truly RARE cigar of the month club and has since become legendary with over 18,000 monthly subscribers. In July 2020, Privada Cigar Club introduced a new venture called Limited Cigars Association, or LCA, which is the company’s initiative to revive brick and mortar premium cigars shops throughout the United States by sharing limited quantities of popular products on a monthly basis. Each shop in the LCA receives a small quantity of the featured cigar that is then advertised across Privada Cigar Club’s social media channels. The quantities typically sell out quickly. Jeff Gaston, in located rural southeastern Nebraska. Jeff is 34 years old with a career in Ultrasonic Inspection of metal materials, both manufactured and welded. GSTN Cigar was established in September of 2020 after Jeff complained about the design of an ashtray that his wife had gifted him. She told him to create his own, he did, and the company was born. They produce handcrafted cigar ashtrays from woods such as Walnut, Appalachian maple, Northern Pine, and Curly Cherry that sell both domestically and internationally. Two interesting facts about Jeff is that he only has one eye due to Glaucoma, and lost most of his taste buds when he was a child, which makes finding the right cigar a true journey.

This week, the Stogie Geeks interview Steve Boik the owner of Frontline Cigars based out of the western suburbs of Chicago. Started the business in 2019 off a cigar they used to hand out at events for their cigar club. The Blue Line Cigar Club was established in 2017 to help out injured or sick police officers. Fast forward to 2019, started a charity after raising funds for seven police officer families, started Help the Heroes Foundation, a 501c3 helping injured or sick first responders and military. Her first exposure to the cigar industry was when she applied and started working at Club Macanudo in New York City, through hard work and determination, rose to the position of assistant manager. Always wanting to learn more about the cigar industry and the retail aspect of it she went to work for Nat Sherman Townhouse under the leadership of Michael Herklots. Approximately a year later she was offered the position as assistant manager for Casa de Montecristo in New York City and was in charge of overseeing the day to day operation of two locations.

The founder, Pat, was having difficulty finding the balance between price and quality for cigar accessories. Emperors Cut Cigars is excited to announce the launch of its second line of cigars called the Jazz Series. The Jazz Series will offer three sizes: Toro 56 x 6.5, Grand Robusto 52 x 5.5, and a Gordito 58 x 5. The Wrapper is Sumatra Sun Grown (Colorado Maduro) from Ecuador. The Filler consists of two types of Dominican tobacco from the Cibao Valley Region, which is complemented by Nicaraguan and Peruvian leaves. Finally, the Binder consists of tobacco grown in Ecuador.

Just over three years ago, at the urging of people in the cigar industry, I boarded a plane and headed to Dominican Republic and the small town of Tamboril. Mostly a fact-finding trip that later led me to the tobacco fields of Nicaragua. Nomad’s success is due to nothing more than learning all I can and not cutting corners.

Mel Shah opened a store in Palm Springs, California. As a retailer, Shah built up contacts of farmers and tobacco dealers in Ecuador and Nicaragua. Shah had a vision for how he wanted to roll and ferment tobaccos. Tom Person is the President of Commonwealth Cedar Spills. A long time cigar enthusiast, Person became intrigued with the classic way of lighting a cedar using a cedar spill. Eventually, he then set out to create his own version of this product.

After a hiatus from the hand-rolled premium cigar industry, Zanghi returned to in 2012 and launched the the first Debonaire line.
