Determine The Value Of Your Offering
What should you charge?
We wasted a lot of time and energy reinventing the wheel with every single new offer – and I wasn’t happy that potential clients waited much longer than necessary for their offers.
For me, professionally, this was a turning point.
As a logical person, this was exactly the kind of challenge that intrigued me – it needed solving. Diving deeper into the world of pricing
Janene studied to become a Certified Pricing Professional, being among the first few dozens of people awarded with the certification. She had the chance to work with pricing in different contexts and companies, at one point traveling around the world helping teams to take their pricing strategy to the next level. Typically when I stepped into a meeting room to kick-off the next pricing project, I’d introduce myself: “Hi I’m Janene. I’m here for the pricing project.” Most often the person would say, “Yeah. I know you. You’re the pricing lady!”
That nickname stuck with me. So did the passion for pricing. Although I had written a business plan and thought about having my own business, the thought of it was quite scary. Years later, after a burnout, when I started exploring other career paths outside the corporate environment, the idea of building my own pricing consultancy returned. She started channeling this passion to help small businesses adjust their pricing in a way that allows them to grow and become more profitable.

Changing the Culture Path
Life has challenged me numerous times, testing me with all manner of adversaries and taking its pound of flesh. Looking back, I find there is much I have to reflect on and my own unique life circumstances have gifted me with truths and wisdom beyond my years.
In my thirteenth summer, my life was forever changed when, after years of living in an African refugee camp and endless interviews and challenges, my family and I were finally chosen to receive refuge under the International Organization for Migration Program. I recall that during one particularly memorable interview, the Gentleman had asked me
“Why do you want refuge, and what do you want to do with that opportunity?”
Without hesitation, I responded,
“I don't want to die here, I want an opportunity to change the world.”
The year 2013 saw me making the decision to join the US military, which led to six years filled with tears, pain, trauma and growth, discovery. After my time spent in defense of my adopted country, I came to terms with the understanding that I had given enough of myself to others, and it was high time to heal the broken pieces that had been scattered into an abyss of hurt and confusion.
So, began my journey to healing.
I spent a fair amount of time figuring out and wondering what healing looks like for me; a proud African woman, a US Veteran who fought to protect the country who brought her peace and security for the first time in her young life. What does healing look like to an African Immigrant with a strong will to survive, torn between her love for two nations? On the surface, the truth is this: it looks Painful. It looks Uncomfortable, it looks heartbreakingly like Fear. It looks like Anxiety, Depression, and Hopelessness.

After spending many years in the red-tape corporate world, Cameron was fed up with feeling trapped in the 9-5 world. She is the type of person if you tell me I can't do something, she want to do it...test the boundaries, can't be limited or trapped, or feel like she is a robot. With the support of my amazing husband and children, She quit my almost 6 figure corporate job and ventured out on my own.
Cameron started Veterans Mark in early 2019 wanting to focus mainly on Veteran-Owned businesses to honor my husband who is a Marine Corps veteran...but she kept getting non-veteran-owned businesses as clients, and mainly solo and micro-businesses, so she rebranded as Needham Solutions - opening up my audience and focus more on the size of the company while still honoring my husband by using his last name - after all, if it wasn't for his support, she would not have any of this anyways!
In July 2019, Cameron made Needham Solutions official by registering with the state and IRS as an LLC and haven't looked back. Sure it is a lot of hard work and some days literally blood sweat and tears, but still worth every moment - "I love what I do so much and it shows through our ALL 5-Star reviews and the great referrals we receive from current and past clients!"

Real estate was actually my fall back plan. When I left for graduate school I planned to become a management consultant. I did my research on the different companies, found someone to do practice interviews with, and landed a consulting internship. I'd followed my plan and I was on my way. Or so I thought.
My timing was absolutely horrible. In fact, my timing could not have possibly been worse. The dotcom bubble burst and the bottom fell out of the management consulting industry. My 12 week internship was cut to 6. They even sent rescission letters to people they'd already hired. As if to say "Thanks for buying a house near our office, but we no longer need your services."
Meanwhile my mother who was a real estate agent briefly in the 80's had been learning about how to buy properties with tax liens. So, the two of us took a road trip to Florida going county by county, visiting county recorders offices along the way. We ultimately invested in three properties, jumped through some legal hoops to gain clear title, and flipped them to developers. That was how I started my real estate career.
The real estate adventure continued as we invested in more property, eventually reaching a total of 72 units. This was achieved by buying the worst properties in great neighborhoods and renovating them. And yes, I was personally involved in designing floor plans, hanging sheet rock, hanging cabinets, painting, and more.
As an investor & property manager, I frequently visited the bookstore’s real estate section. One day I noticed something I’d missed during all my previous visits. There were plenty of books for property owners, managers, & investors. But, no books for the 43 million rental households who pay half a trillion dollars, with a “T”, in rent each year. That epiphany led me to teach market based strategies to help renters save money & help landlords get more from their investments.

As the author of several books, a leadership coach and a passionate CrossFit athlete, I challenge myself daily to grow and be better. I challenge my clients to do the same.
I spent the first half of my life figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I wandered through a lot of changes to discover the truth of who I am. During the wandering and wondering years, I was a writer, a singer, and a global nomad who lived and traveled on three continents. I’m an active co-partner in a long-term marriage and along the way, I became the mother of four children who have grown up to be amazing adults.
I grew up in the School of Hard Knocks and witnessed first-hand many of the conditions that sabotage a person’s ability to succeed. This experience helps me enormously. While observing and talking with thousands of people over several decades, I’ve come to understand that the challenges we all confront are not much different—no matter who you are or what you’re doing in life.
In my experience, it all comes down to your thinking and behavior, and how much you want to change the things that aren’t working for you.

"Smooth" was nominated for a Soultrain Award that same year.

Do you know when to make the change? These are just a few things that you can expect from Jill Here is a little bit about Jill:For 17 years I was an executive with non-profits, connecting people to be a part of something that made significant impact. When I started working in the marketplace, I was surprised to find that many companies didn’t know how to take care of their people beyond the basics. My passion is to help people live a life of purpose, and to help companies tap into a person’s purpose as a resource to achieve the company’s goals.I love helping others be their best, to give their best, to experience their best! More specifically, if you are a small business owner or a manager at a mid-size company, it is time to let go of the responsibility of all the tasks related to people management! To find out how I can help your company, without the cost of a full-time HR manager, schedule your best time on my calendar to have a conversation abut how I can help you get the best from your team.
