KaReGhar Designs is a Mumbai-based company turning scrap into functional artwork. The concept is the brainchild of Ankita Purav and Haider Ali Mehta. The duo began in a small way, making clocks from disc brakes and lamps from plumbing pipes, which they sold to family and friends. However, what started as a hobby soon turned into a business after Radhika Butala and Parveen Jiterwal of The Whiteboard Company (TWC), a startup incubator in Mumbai, convinced them to quit their jobs to pursue this full time.

At KaReGhar, they handpick and handcraft products, a single piece at a time. Here, they endeavor to make functional pieces of art that are transformed to make a positive impact on all of us and our environment.

Soumya Kalluri is a Mechanical Engineer with a Masters degree in Commercial Vehicle Technology from Germany. Her experience in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) while working at John Deere, Germany triggered her interest in the area of sustainability. The end-of-life of any LCA to her is the most important phase, as this is the phase where a material can be recovered or lost. In present times, due to fast fashion, the majority of textiles are incinerated or dumped into landfills. "Dwij" is her social enterprise to address this issue. She firmly believes that sustainability is not only about the environment and economy, but also about being fair to all the stakeholders in the process including the customer.

Eco Femme is now in its 10th year and the product has gradually gained a lot of attention both in India and around the world as sustainable menstruation becomes more and more a mainstream choice.
