This is our last and final week in our "Overcoming" Series. This final week we look at the book of Esther, and talk about how we can Overcome the Fear of the Future. Anticipatory anxiety, or worrying about things that may or may not happen in the future is something many of us struggle with. But as Christians, we arent called to live in fear. So what does it look like to Overcome Fear of the Future?
This week we go back to our current preaching series, "Overcoming" and we talk about something that is an epidemic in our world today: Loneliness. As people, many of us struggle with loneliness, and we struggle with feeling unloved, unneeded, unwanted, or uncared for. Does the Bible have something to say about this? This week we take a break from our current sermon series, and instead we celebrate a special Sunday in our church life. Its Remembrance Sunday, where we take time to remember those that came before us who gave up so much for our freedoms, and the freedoms of others that are enjoyed around the world. And its also our 38th Church Anniversary. We have existed as Avenue Road Baptist Church for 38 years, but our roots go back 146 years, as a group of two churches that joined many years ago. As we celebrate our Anniversary, we look at Paul's words to the Philippian church in Phil. 3:12-14 and talk about what it means to celebrate our past and at the same time look to the future.
Welcome to week 8 in our "Overcoming" series. This week we talk about Bitterness. Bitterness eats away at us, and steals joy from our lives. Sometimes we harbor bitterness without even knowing. Today we look at Genesis 4, and 45, and compare what it means to harbor bitterness and what it looks like to let it go. Apathetic lives are dangerous lives, as we focus on self, and leads us to doing 'nothing'. How do we live FULL lives, not apathetic ones. How can we "overcome" apathy? This week is week 3 in the series called "Overcoming" This week we talk about how we often struggle with a Judgmental Nature, not just in society or culture, but in the church too, and in our own lives. We talk about why its important we overcome that judgmental nature, and learn to accept others as God has accepted us.

With that rise in pornography has lead to a rise in child exploitation, child pornography, sexual abuse, sex trafficking, rape and other violent sex crimes. We as the church need to be talking about this. Join us by entering into the conversation about pornography and the realities of this pervasive, destructive, addiction.

Week 4 of "Church on the Couch" . As we enter Palm Sunday and Jesus enters the city, we worship and adore Him. But is it real? Is it a real love or is it lip service. Is our faith committed or casual?
Church on the couch week 2 - carrying on through our theme of spiritual disciplines, we look at submission. What is it? Why is it so hard for us to submit? To whom do we submit? Looking at 1 Peter 2 we see the best model for submission in Jesus, as something for us to imitate.
Church at Home - this week was the first in a live stream we are doing in the middle of this covid19 pandemic. What is solitude? Even though many of us are alone right now, or isolated, are we practicing solitude? Have a listen and see if solitude is something you can try in the midst of your isolation during this time .
This week we paused the series on spiritual disciplines and instead talked about Fear. Our world is afraid right now with everything going on around this Covid19 virus. What do we as Christians do?
