I LOVE story, especially the in-between pieces of real-life stories—the gritty parts— like the biography of Harriet Beacher Stowe, writer of "Uncle Tom's Cabin", she’s the woman to whom Abraham Lincoln is reported to have said, “So this is the little lady who started this great war.” She did it with her book. The book made Queen Victoria cry and turned tens of thousands of Americans to the abolitionist cause. Stowe said she could not take credit for the book as she merely took dictation from God. God spoke the story to her; hearing that dictation was a daunting task. She recorded how she just about lost her mind through the din of her boisterous children, she lived in a frenetic cacophony of noise and interruptions—how is a woman is to do it all?—young children; the constant ringing of the doorbell, fish, egg and milk deliveries; visitors— an unending barrage of demands! This podcast is about finding those gorgeous nuggets of how-did-they-do-that in story, it’s about great lives, great story-telling, but mostly, this podcast is about The Great Cause: Abolition!
