Beat recorded to tape from Figure, then processed/resonated in Eurorack Rings and QPAS. Delay/reverb added with Norns Delayyyyy.
Break sampled from Eurorack to tape, then increased playback speed. Added some synth bass from Braids and a lead from Matrixbrute. I also spent way too long making an ambient layer from some bells in the Morphagene. Not sure if it comes through but hey it’s what I got this evening!
Started with a base beat in Propellerhead Figure with sync/clock track direct to tape from Korg SyncKontrol. Added layers from Matrixbrute, Make Noise Morphagene, and Mutable Instruments Rings. Recorded to cassette on Fostex X18.
Recorded Yamaha keyboard into Norns Barcode to make a loop. Imported that loop into Reels. Dropped into Morphagene to pitch with Monome Earthsea. Recorded that into DP-006. Added bass and string layers to DP-006 effected by Norns Delayyyyyyyy.
I remember listening to this on the local alternative station while riding the school bus in the 90s. Here is a reimagined version produced almost entirely on the Arturia Matrixbrute.
I got inspired to work on this re-imagined version of this 90s classic after hearing it while grocery shopping.
My son has had trouble sleeping lately. On this winter night before bed, we dreamed about being on the sandy beach at Lake Nokomis, waiting for hot dogs to grill, feet and toes in the sand, making a U-shaped ravine to let the water in on the shore. In the middle, a sandcastle with a flag on its top.
