The Merchant of Venice: Controversial, But Important

The Merchant of Venice is one of William Shakespeare's plays that is not as commonly performed today as it was in the past. This is primarily due to the racism found within the show towards Shylock, the Jewish antagonist. I discuss the issues with the show, the benefits of teaching the play, and so forth.
