Mr. Dempsey currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of OKYO Pharma, a public, clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company developing investigational therapies for neuropathic corneal pain (NCP) and inflammatory eye diseases. The company’s lead candidate, urcosimod, has received FDA Fast Track designation for treating NCP. Previously, Mr. Dempsey served as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Ashvattha Therapeutics, where he led development of Migaldendranib (MGB), a novel targeted nanomedicine platform designed to normalize VEGF expression for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) and neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). Earlier in his career, Mr. Dempsey served as President and Chief Executive Officer of AsclepiX Therapeutics, where he oversaw the rapid clinical development of a new chemical entity targeting ocular diseases and cancer through naturally occurring, self-regulating homeostatic pathways. Prior to that, he served as Chief Executive Officer of TearClear, where he accelerated the company’s business and commercial strategy, leading to multiple value-inflection points, including a successful Series B financing and positive FDA engagements.
Mr. Dempsey formerly served as the Group Vice President and Head of Global Ophthalmology at Shire, which was acquired by Takeda, and was responsible for closing one of only 3 ophthalmology transactions with >$1B upfront in the last 2 decades for Xiidra that transacted again 4 years later for $1.7B to Bausch & Lomb.
At Shire, he swiftly established a highly regarded reputation for Shire as a new company in the ophthalmology and optometry markets. Leading the commercialization strategy that resulted in an industry-leading launch, while overseeing the acquisition of four companies that contributed to the franchise pipeline of innovative candidates aimed at improving vision-related quality, was an
accomplishment about which he is most proud.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family on the lake and watching Boston sports.

Rob Sambursky, MD, has more than 25 years of experience spanning the life sciences industry and clinical medicine. He is a fellowship-trained cornea specialist and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of DefEYE, Inc..
Prior to joining DefEYE, Dr. Sambursky was one of the original founders of RPS Diagnostics and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of both RPS Diagnostics and Lumos Diagnostics. He led Lumos Diagnostics through its initial
public offering on the Australian Securities Exchange. In addition, he was a founder and Executive Chairman of Visus Therapeutics . Throughout his executive leadership roles, Dr. Sambursky also served as acting Chief Medical Officer for RPS Diagnostics, Lumos Diagnostics, and DefEYE.
Dr. Sambursky currently serves as a strategic advisor to Tenpoint Therapeutics and is Board Chair of Advanced Ophthalmics, Inc. and Sustained Drug Delivery, Inc. He has extensive scientific and clinical expertise in ophthalmology, infectious disease, and medical sciences, and has served as an advisory board consultant to numerous ophthalmic therapeutic companies. Dr. Sambursky has authored dozens of patents and scientific publications, conceived a novel point-of-care diagnostic platform, and served as the clinical and regulatory lead supporting multiple international regulatory clearances and U.S. FDA 510(k) clearances with CLIA-waived designations. He has also played a key role in the successful commercialization of multiple diagnostic products in the United States and internationally.
Dr. Sambursky is a practicing, board-certified ophthalmologist with fellowship training in corneal, external, and infectious disease. He earned a BA in Biology from Brown University, an MA in Medical Sciences with concentrations in biochemistry and microbiology from Boston University, and an MD from Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his medical internship at Mount Auburn Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, and completed both his ophthalmology residency and cornea fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital, where he also served as Co-Chief Resident.

About Dr. Volkert
Dr. Kayla Volkert is the founder and optometrist behind See La Vie Eyecare & Eyewear, a boutique eye care practice she opened in 2022 with the goal of bringing personalized, state-of-the-art eye care to the Main Line.
Originally from York, Pennsylvania, Dr. Volkert now lives in Bryn Mawr with her husband and their two young sons. She loves the walkability, charm, and strong sense of community that make the Main Line such a special place to live and raise a family—and she is proud to serve the neighborhood she calls home.
Dr. Volkert earned her undergraduate degree from Penn State University, where she majored in Life Sciences and minored in French and Psychology. During college, she spent a semester studying abroad in Montpellier, France—an experience that shaped her appreciation for culture, connection, and thoughtful design.
She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, where she was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and received clinical honors across her rotations. While in optometry school, Dr. Volkert served as President of the Private Practice Club, reflecting her long-standing interest in improving the patient experience and building a practice rooted in personalized care. Her clinical training included advanced rotations at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, with a focus on pediatric contact lenses, and the Baltimore VA, where she gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease.
After graduation, Dr. Volkert practiced optometry in Charleston, South Carolina for several years before returning to Pennsylvania to open See La Vie. About Dr. Jeff Banas
Dr. Jeff Banas graduated from Roosevelt University in 2010, completing the Honors Program to earn his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry, the nation’s first and oldest optometric program. His clinical training included rotations at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago, and the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee.
Dr. Banas is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and a member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society. He also holds membership in the American Optometric Association, Wisconsin Optometric Association, and Milwaukee Optometric Society, and is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry.
His clinical practice focuses on ocular disease management, with particular expertise in glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, dry eye, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, and refractive conditions. Dr. Banas also provides post-surgical care and is proud to be a part of an ophthalmology team recognized for its adoption of advanced technologies and innovative treatment approaches.

About Dr. Joseph J. Allen
Dr. Joseph J. Allen graduated Magna Cum Laude and Salutatorian from the Rosenberg School of Optometry in 2015 and completed his residency at the Minneapolis V.A. Medical Center.
Dr. Allen is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the AOA Strategic Communications Committee, and he completed the AOA leadership training in 2022. He was also awarded the Media Advocacy award from the AOA in 2021.
Dr. Allen is a practicing optometrist in Virginia and the founder of Doctor Eye Health, an educational YouTube channel and Podcast with more than 1 Million subscribers. There, he provides information about eye health, ocular disease, and vision products. About Dr. Tucker
Dr. Tucker is a graduate of the UHCO where she also completed a Cornea and Contact Lens Residency. Dr. Tucker is a partner at Bellaire Family Eye Care and The Contact Lens Institute of Houston, a private practice in the Houston, TX area where she primarily focuses on patients in need of specialty contact lenses and myopia management, She is a Visiting Assistant Professor at UHCO where she teaches Ophthalmic Optics. She also serves as the Treasurer for the Scleral Lens Education Society, the Secretary for the AOA Contact Lens and Cornea Section and is on the advisory board for the GPLI. Dr. Tucker has been named by the World Council of Optometry as a Global Ambassador for Myopia Management and serves as the medical co-editor for Review of Myopia Management.

About Terri A. Gossard
Terri A. Gossard, O.D., M.S., was elected to the AOA Board of Trustees in June 2019 and elected Vice President during the 128th Annual Congress in June 2025.
She serves on the Executive Committee, AOA Advocacy Roundtable Committee, Board Advancement Committee, and Student Engagement Committee, and as liaison trustee to multiple AOA committees, optometry schools, and affiliates across the U.S. Dr. Gossard is a past president of the Ohio Optometric Association (OOA), where she chaired the Children’s Vision Task Force and Legislative Committee. She was honored as OOA Optometrist of the Year in 2017.
She earned her O.D. and M.S. in Physiological Optics from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1996, practiced for 20 years in Cincinnati, and now serves as National Director of Clinical Integration for EyeCare Partners.

Cory Pinegar is Chief Executive Officer of Utah-based CallForce, a groundbreaking dental service startup helping dental practices increase patient engagement and revenue. In 2016, at the age of 22, Cory struck gold and purchased the company—then named Recall Solutions—from software giant Weave for just one dollar. Since then, the visionary entrepreneur has grown CallForce from 35 clients to nearly 3,000 and with a workforce of close to 200 employees. CallForce has been named one of the fastest-growing companies by Inc. 500 and has been recognized repeatedly by the Salt Lake Tribune as one of the Best Places to Work.

About Dr. Kaleb Abbott
Dr. Kaleb Abbott is an optometrist and assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is affiliated with both the Dry Eye Clinic and the Center for Ocular Inflammation, where he specializes in complex ocular surface diseases and participates in clinical trials and research related to these conditions.
In addition to his clinical and research roles, he serves as vice-president for the Ocular Wellness and Nutrition Society, is Chair of the Nutrition, Disease Prevention, and Wellness Special Interest Group (SIG) for the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), and is a member of the advisory council for the Academic Medical Center Optometry AAO SIG. He also holds a position on the editorial advisory board for Modern Optometry and Optometry360 and is a graduate of the AAO Flom Leadership Academy. Furthermore, he hosts the Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Disease section of the Clinical Podcast Series through the American Academy of Optometry Foundation. In 2024, he was nominated for Colorado’s Young Optometrist of the Year and recognized as a “One-to-Watch” by Modern Optometry.
In 2019, Kaleb co-founded SunSnap Kids, a start-up that won first place in the inaugural Bright Ideas Pitch Competition in 2022 and third place in the Optometry Innovation Awards in 2023. About Dr. Zac Holland
is the owner of the Cornea and Contact Lens Institute of Minnesota, a practice dedicated to over 500 specialty contact lens fittings per year. He actively participates in many surgical, drug and device FDA clinical trials and beta testing along with lecturing as a KOL and is published regularly on the topics of myopia control, scleral lenses, keratoconus management, corneal crosslinking and practice management. Dr Holland is an adjunct faculty member at multiple optometry schools and hosts 10-12 fourth year optometry students where they learn hands-on specialty lens fitting, anterior segment disease management and specialty lens practice logistics. About Matthew J. Martin, OD, FIAOMC
After graduating with honors in Pre-Optometry at Ferris State University, Dr.
Martin Attended the Michigan College of Optometry graduating with honors in
1999. Dr. Martin has been serving the Mid-Michigan area for 20 years providing
comprehensive care, managing ocular disease, and fitting specialty contact lens
designs. He specializes in pediatric eye care and all types of myopia management,
with an emphasis on Ortho-K.
Dr. Martin is a Fellow of the International Academy of Orthokeratology and
Myopia Control since 2005. He has served on the Leadership and Planning Board
for this organization and currently serves on the Fellowship Committee. He takes
an active role in testing candidates sitting for their FIAOMC as well as keeping the
testing process up to date.
Dr. Martin has a passion for education and has served as a mentor for many
doctors new to myopia management. In 2017 he was asked to present at Vision
By Design (VBD) Bootcamp for Newcomers. Based on reviews he has become a
permanent member of the Bootcamp team. Dr. Martin speaks nationally and
internationally on the subject of myopia control, with an emphasis on Ortho-K.
His most recent international lecture was Mumbai, India.
Dr. Martin was a founding member of Mission Myopia Control. Its mission was to
educate and assist doctors in incorporating myopia management into their
private practices. While this organization has now been dissolved, Dr. Martin has
continued his efforts towards educating doctors in the best specialty in eye care!

Dr. Koetting is an assistant professor at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in the Department of Ophthalmology in Denver, CO. Her primary focus is on anterior segment and ocular surface disease, neuro-optometry, and perioperative care. She partakes in clinical research and has served as an externship director and adjunct faculty for several schools and colleges of optometry. About Dr. Monica Jong
Dr. Monica Jong is the Global Director of Professional Education, Myopia at Johnson
& Johnson Vision where she leads practitioner education initiatives around the world to support evidence-based myopia management.
She was the former Executive Director of the International Myopia Institute, an organization she helped co-found. In this role Monica led the development of white papers and key initiatives to bring consensus to the field of myopia management by bringing together leading researchers, clinicians, educators, policy-makers and public health experts. Today these key white papers are utilized by peak health bodies and professional eye care associations worldwide.
Monica has published numerous peer reviewed articles in high impact journals in the areas of epidemiology, high myopia and clinical trials. She co-created the first global online education program in myopia at the Brien Holden Vision Institute. She was also the scientific secretary of the WHO meeting on myopia in 2015 and co-authored the WHO report on the Impact of Myopia and High Myopia. Monica was the former secretary of the Refractive Error Working group of the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and contributed to position papers and advocacy initiatives in refractive error.
Monica has practiced optometry in private and corporate, rural and urban settings as well as public health. She is passionate about research and education and continues to mentor graduate students from developing and developed countries. Monica has presented at more than 400 global scientific and practitioner meetings. Monica like to keep physically and mentally fit byalso practicing Muay Thai, the art of eight limbs while spending time with her two children.

About Azinda MorrowDr. Azinda Morrow is currently an Associate Optometrist at Silicon Valley Eyecare Optometry & Contact Lenses in Santa Clara, CA. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY College of Optometry in 2017 and completed her residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL in 2018. About Dr. Rishi P. Singh MD,
Dr. Rishi P. Singh MD is a staff surgeon, vice president, and chief medical officer at the
Cleveland Clinic Martin Health and Professor of Ophthalmology at the Lerner College of Medicine in Cleveland Ohio. He received his bachelors and medical degrees from Boston University and completed his residency at the Massachusetts Eye and Infirmary Harvard Combined Program in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Singh then completed a medical and surgical fellowship at the Cole Eye Institute in Cleveland, Ohio.
He specializes in the treatment of medical and surgical retinal disease such as diabetic
retinopathy, retinal detachment, and age-related macular degeneration. Dr. Singh has
authored more than 250 peer reviewed publications, books, and book chapters and serves as the principal investigator of numerous national clinical trials advancing the treatment of retinal disease. Dr. Singh is the former president on the Retina World Congress and is on the board of the American Society of Retina Specialists.
Dr. Singh has been honored with several research recognitions such as the Alpha Omega Alpha Research Award and American Society of Retina Specialists Senior Honor Award.

About Dr. Sherman Tung,
Dr. Sherman Tung, OD FAAO FIAOMC IACMM graduated from Illinois College of Optometry. As a 4th Year ICO externship preceptor, he is dedicated to mentoring future optometrists. A former president of BC Doctors of Optometry and recipient of the 2019 Optometrist of the Year award, Dr. Tung is celebrated for his contributions to advancing optometric standards. About Dr. Justin Kwan
Dr. Justin Kwan is a 2009 graduate of Berkeley Optometry and went on to do a contact lens and dry eye residency at SCCO. He taught and saw patients there for eight years before moving to Chicago in 2018, joining a private practice. In April 2020, he transitioned to CooperVision full time, dedicated to myopia management. He has given over 100 hours of continuing education. About Dr. Shane Kannarr, ODShane R. Kannarr, OD, practices in Pittsburg, Kansas. He opened Kannarr Eye Care in

Dr. Jackson Lau is the Senior Manager of Professional Relations at Euclid Vision Corporation. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. After completing a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the Illinois College of Optometry, he joined a high-volume specialty contact lens and myopia management practice in Sunnyvale, CA. Adele is a clinical optometrist working in independent practice in Auckland, New Zealand, with special interests in Dry Eye & Ocular Surface Disease, Myopia Management, Contact Lenses and Ocular Therapeutics. She is the National Clinical Manager for Matthews Eyecare; she holds positions on the CPD Accreditation Committee for the New Zealand Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Board and the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, is the President of the Cornea & Contact Lens Society (NZ), and an Honorary Teaching Fellow at the University of Auckland School of Optometry & Vision Science. She graduated from the University of Auckland in 2003 and completed her Master of Science in 2020. About Patrick Johnson, Ph.D.
Patrick Johnson joined Sydnexis as Chief Business Officer in 2017. He was instrumental in the Series A and B financings at Sydnexis as well as the corporate alliance with Santen Pharmaceuticals that was established in 2021.
Prior to his role at Sydnexis, Patrick was the Vice President of Corporate and Business Development at Allergan, a publicly traded, large-cap pharmaceutical company. At Allergan, Patrick was responsible for establishing dozens of corporate partnerships as well as mergers and acquisitions in eyecare (Allergan’s largest therapeutic area) and drug delivery. Prior to Allergan, Patrick was a co-founder of Chimeros, a biotechnology start-up company founded in Santa Barbara in 2005, where he was Vice President of Business Development in addition to leading scientific teams as Director of Biology. Before co-founding Chimeros, Patrick was an adjunct faculty member at the University of California, Santa Barbara (USCB) where he was simultaneously conducting research in the Center for the Study of Macular Degeneration while teaching classes in Neurobiology, Developmental Biology, Introductory Biology, and Biotechnology and Society.
Patrick holds a B.S. in biopsychology and a Ph.D. in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, both from USCB. About Dr. Natalie Chai:
Dr. Natalie Chai founded the Dry Eye Centre at Precision Eye Care when she joined the team in March of 2020. Dr. Chai attended the University of Alberta before receiving early acceptance to Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon, where she earned her joint Bachelor’s Degree in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry. Prior to practice, she successfully completed the Canadian Assessment of Competence in Optometry (CACO) as well as the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) in the United States. Her practice is focused on Dry Eye Disease, Myopia Management, and Specialty Contact Lenses – these are specialties that are under-represented and under-used in the Edmonton region. About Dr. Tim Earley:
Dr. Timothy Earley obtained his B.S. in Biology from the University of Scranton in 1994.
He then obtained both a B.S. in Visual Science and a Doctorate in Optometry from the
Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1998. After graduation, he joined the Medina
Vision and Laser Centre, where he served as a therapeutic optometrist until December
2020 when he joined Northeast Ohio Eye Surgeons. He spent 23 years as the vice
president/secretary of Medina Vision Centre and was the director of human resources.
Dr. Earley has a special interest in the diagnosis and management of age-related
macular degeneration (AMD), dry eye and ocular surface disease, co-management of
cataract and refractive surgery, and the fitting of multifocal and specialty contact lenses.
Reflecting his commitment to public health, Dr. Earley is the Clinic Director of the Bright
Eyedeas Vision Clinic. At Bright Eyedeas, high school students enrolled in the optical
technology/visual sciences program work with Dr. Earley to provide no-cost eye
examinations and eyeglasses for patients in need. He also participates in InfantSEE, a
public health program designed to ensure that vision care becomes an essential part of
infant wellness.
Dr. Earley is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Ohio
Optometric Association. He is also a national speaker and consultant in the areas of
specialty contact lenses, macular degeneration, and practice management. He is a
consultant for Alcon and a member of the Practitioner’s Visiting Alcon (PVA) faculty. Dr.
Earley serves as a KOL for Notal Vision, and is currently on the Speaker Bureau and is
a KOL for Maculogix and MacuHealth. Dr. Earley has been published in Optometric
Management, Advanced Ocular Care, and Review of Optometry, and is a COPEapproved continuing education lecturer. He currently contributes a Business Strategies
column for Optometric Management and serves on its editorial advisory board.
When not seeing patients or consulting with industry partners, Dr. Earley enjoys
spending time with his wife, Dr. Andrea Earley, and his three children. He enjoys the
outdoors, hiking, golfing, and gardening. He has a small flock of chickens and hopes to
expand his hobby farm in the future.

As myopia program lead, Paul Chamberlain is currently responsible for the strategic direction and execution of CooperVision’s research in this area. From 2011 to 2016 he managed a team of optometrists who supported all clinical product development activities within R&D.
Before joining CooperVision in 2011, Paul spent five years managing industry sponsored research studies at Eurolens Research at the University of Manchester. Prior to that, he was part of Michel Guillon’s research team at Optometric Technology Group in London.

About Dr. Michael Lipson:
Dr. Michael Lipson is recently retired from his position as an optometrist/associate
professor at University of Michigan, department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science.
His clinical practice involves specialty contact lenses: OrthoK, keratoconus, post-corneal transplant, post-refractive surgery and severe dry eye patients. He has published peer-reviewed clinical research studies on OrthoK, vision-related quality of life, myopia management and new lens designs. He lectures nationally and internationally on those same topics. Dr. Lipson developed a validated questionnaire to assess vision-related
quality of life for all types of vision correction, including OrthoK. He has authored
chapters in textbooks on OrthoK, scleral lenses and general contact lens topics. Dr.
Lipson is the author of the book “Contemporary OrthoKeratology”. He also is a reviewer
for a number of highly-respected peer-reviewed journals in the ophthalmic community.
He is a consultant to the specialty contact lens industry emphasizing OrthoK education.
He is on the GPLI Advisory Board, served as Vice-President of the Scleral Lens Education
Society and served on the Scleral Lens Education Society Board for many years.

Dr. Kathryn Richdale received her BS from the University of Notre Dame and her OD, PhD, and Cornea and Contact Lens Advanced Practice Fellowship from The Ohio State University. She was founding director of the Clinical Vision Research Center, and established the Myopia Control Clinic at the State University of New York College of Optometry before joining the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) as an Associate Professor in 2017. Dr. Richdale is an attending in the Cornea and Contact Lens Service, oversees the Myopia Management Service, and teaches in both the optometric and graduate programs at UHCO. She conducts research and teaches primarily in the areas of cornea, contact lenses and refractive error. Dr. Richdale earned her Diplomate in the American Academy of Optometry Cornea, Contact Lenses and Refractive Technologies section in 2019 and is currently a board member for our Academy’s journal (OVS) and Foundation.

About D. Kaleb Abbott
Dr. Kaleb Abbott is an optometrist and assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He is affiliated with both the Dry Eye Clinic and the Center for Ocular Inflammation, where he specializes in complex ocular surface diseases and participates in clinical trials and research related to these conditions.
In addition to his clinical and research roles, he serves as vice-president for the Ocular Wellness and Nutrition Society, is Chair of the Nutrition, Disease Prevention, and Wellness Special Interest Group (SIG) for the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), and is a member of the advisory council for the Academic Medical Center Optometry AAO SIG. In 2024, he was nominated for Colorado’s Young Optometrist of the Year and recognized as a “One-to-Watch” by Modern Optometry.
In 2019, Kaleb co-founded SunSnap Kids, a start-up that won first place in the inaugural Bright Ideas Pitch Competition in 2022 and third place in the Optometry Innovation Awards in 2023. He recently sold the majority of the company to focus more on his clinical and research responsibilities at the University of Colorado.
When he’s not seeing patients, conducting research, or working on SunSnap Kids, Dr. Abbott lectures on ocular surface diseases, writes articles, and serves as a medical reviewer for multiple journals, including The Ocular Surface and Optometry and Vision Science. He resides in Denver, CO, with his wife, daughter, and newborn twins.

About Dr. Dunn
Dr. Dunn graduated from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2013 and then completed a residency at the Roseburg VA in Roseburg, Oregon specializing in geriatric care and ocular disease. After completing her residency, she opened a private practice as well as becoming an assistant professor at Pacific’s College of Optometry. Dr. Dunn provides comprehensive and medical eye exams for the entire family, with a specialty in dry eye disease.
Since the start of optometry school, Dr. Dunn has been highly active in organized optometry. As a student she represented her school on the AOSA Board of Trustees, and in her fourth year of school was elected the Vice President of all the optometry schools in North America. Since graduation she has served on several committees within the American Optometric Association, served five years on the board for the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association and is the Executive Director for the Arizona Optometric Association.
Dr. Dunn was awarded Young OD of the year for Oregon in 2018, the American Optometric Association Media Advocacy Award in 2022 and the Social Media award in 2023 in Oregon.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Dunn enjoys spending time traveling with her husband and kids or surrounding herself with other women of faith in adventures.

Monica is a graduate from the Optometry program at the University of Melbourne, where she also completed her PhD investigating the structure and function relationship using optical coherence tomography in inherited retinal disease She then undertook a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Ophthalmology, University of Toronto in retinal imaging and blood flow in diabetic eye disease. Monica is the former Executive Director of the International Myopia Institute (IMI), the premier working group of over one experts in the field of myopia established after the first WHO-BHVI Meeting on Myopia in 2015 to advance myopia research, education and patient care, to prevent future vision impairment and blindness. Monica led the IMI from its inception in 2015 until late 2021 and under her direction the IMI has brought consensus to the area of myopia management, published two volumes of white papers in the Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences high impact journal, clinical summaries in up to fourteen languages, as well as a chairside reference for practitioners. Monica has authored numerous peer reviewed publications in the area of myopia and high myopia risk factors, pathology and epidemiology. She co-authored the WHO report on the Impact of Myopia and High Myopia, and was the co-creator of the first accredited global online myopia management education program. Monica speaks regularly at key international scientific and practitioner meetings between teaching and mentoring students.

Eef van der Worp is an educator and researcher. He received his optometry degree from the Hogeschool van Utrecht in the Netherlands (NL) and has served as a head of the contact lens department at the school for over eight years. Eef received his PhD from the University of Maastricht (NL) in 2008. He now runs his own research & education consultancy 'Eye-Contact-Lens' which is based in Amsterdam (NL), and gives courses on ‘How to Present’.
He is a fellow of the AAO, BCLA and the SLS, a lifetime fellow of IACLE and a honorly life member or the Dutch contact lens association ANVC. And he is on the education committee for a number of conferences, including the Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS) in the US and the Dutch Contact Lens Conference (NCC) and Dutch Optometric Society meeting (OVN). About Dr. Elise Kramer:
Dr. Elise Kramer is a residency-trained optometrist in Miami FL who specializes in ocular surface disease and regular and specialty contact lens fitting.
Her Doctorate degree was awarded in Optometry from the Université de Montréal in 2012 where she received a grant from the Scholarship Program of the Québec Ministry of Education for short-term university studies outside of Québec. Receipt of this scholarship award is based on academic performance. In the summer of her second year, she participated in a humanitarian mission in Laayoune, Morocco where she helped hundreds of impoverished people by giving them free eye examinations and glasses corresponding as closely as possible to their prescription.
During her fourth year, she completed her internship in ocular disease at the Eye Centers of South Florida and went on to complete her residency at the Miami VA Medical Center. Her time there included training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top eye hospital. After her residency, Dr. Kramer became a fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society (SLS) and now serves as the Public Education Chair for the SLS. Dr. Kramer is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA), the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO). She is also the Delegate of International Relations for the Italian Association of Scleral Lenses (AILeS). Dr. Kramer has published several important articles and reviews and participates in clinical research trials. She enjoys lecturing all around the world in several different languages about ocular surface disease and specialty lenses. How Cytokines Tell the Dry Eye Story
Hello, I am Dr. David Kading. Welcome to Eyecare’s Lit brought to you by Optometric Insights Media. In this episode, we unpack four key studies that reveal how immune messengers in tears shape the biology of dry eye disease.
We’re going to look at two major meta-analyses and the DREAM biomarker studies. These studies show us that the cytokine balance plays a key role in driving inflammation, disease severity, and the mismatch between symptoms and signs in both routine and autoimmune dry eye.
Hopefully we can better discover how understanding these molecular “conversations” could guide personalized diagnosis and treatment.

About Maria Pribis, OD, FAAO,
Diplomate of the American Board of optometry from the University of Pittsburgh where she was a member of the dance team. She then graduated with high honors from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. While in optometry school she was president of SOSH. Dr. Pribis was inducted into BSK honor society. She completed an ocular disease residency at the Baltimore VA Hospital. During this time she rotated through Johns Hopkins cornea and specialty contact lens clinics. She’s been a partner in private practice in Stamford, CT since 2010. She specializes in ocular surface disease and contact lenses and has a special interest in myopia control. About Julie Rodman, OD, MSC, FAAO
Dr. Julie Rodman is the Chief of the Broward Eye Care Institute in Fort Lauderdale, FL and a Professor of Optometry at Nova Southeastern University. She also is the Instructor of Record for Posterior Segment Disease at the College. Her research interests include OCT/OCTA and Vitreoretinal Disease. Dr. Rodman has authored over thirty publications with an emphasis on retinal disease. She recently published “Optical Coherence Tomography Atlas: A Case Study Approach”, the first reference book on this topic written by an optometrist. Dr. Mila Ioussifova graduated with honors from the New England College of Optometry and completed a residency program in community health and ocular disease in Boston, MA. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is on the leadership team of the Anterior Segment Section of the AAO. About Dr. Elise Kramer
Dr. Elise Kramer is a residency-trained optometrist in Miami FL who specializes in ocular surface disease and specialty contact lens design and fitting.
Her Doctorate degree was awarded in Optometry from the Université de Montréal in 2012. During her fourth year, she completed her internship in ocular disease at the Eye Centers of South Florida and went on to complete her residency at the Miami VA Medical Center. Zac Denning is the Director of Scientific & Professional Affairs at ScienceBased Health (SBH), which he joined in 1999. Starting in 2020, he was named the Associate Dean of the NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry. In July 2024, he was named the Dean of the Oklahoma College of Optometry. He is a founding member, and currently serves as Immediate Past President, of the Intrepid Eye Society which is a group of emerging thought leaders in optometry. He was named a member of PCON 250 – A list of the top 250 optometrists in the country who practice progressively, provide innovative patient care, conduct optometric research or excel in academia and share what they have learned with other optometrists to advance the profession. About Dr. Pucker,
Dr. Andrew Pucker is the Executive Director of Clinical and Medical Sciences at Lexitas Pharma Services. He earned his BS in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and he earned his OD, MS, and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University. His independent research career has focused on dry eye disease, contact lenses, and myopia development. He has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and over 160 editor reviewed columns. Dr. Pucker is a Fellow and Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry, Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, and Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association.
About Jason Besecker OD, MSDr. Jason Besecker is the founder and managing director of Envision Specialty EyeCare & Dry Eye Center, the first and only eye care clinic in Idaho dedicated to the treatment and management of ocular conditions responsible for dry eye symptoms. Even though dry eye is the focus, Dr. Besecker also enjoys helping patients manage their glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and taking care of ocular emergencies.
Prior to opening his specialty dry eye clinic, Dr. Besecker was an associate at Hollingshead Eye Center, a cataract and LASIK referral center, from 2014-2021 where he was able to gain significant experience in the areas of ocular disease and surgical co-management. While practicing at Hollingshead Eye Center, he began to see the increase in patient complaints related to dry eye symptoms. It became evident that there was a need for advanced dry eye services within the community which resulted in him founding Envsion Specialty EyeCare in June of 2021.
Dr. Besecker has called Boise, ID home since he was young. He received his Bachelors and Masters of Science in Biology from Boise State University, and went on to earn a Doctor of Optometry at Indiana University School of Optometry. He completed internships in the treatment and management of ocular disease, pre and post operative surgical care, and primary eye care at Indian University School of Optometry, Hudson Valley VA Medical Center, and at the Eye Institute of Utah.

About Dr. Maria WalkerMaria Walker OD, MS, PhD is a clinician scientist with a focus on keratoconus,
childhood myopia, and specialty contact lenses. She graduated with an OD/MS from
The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, USA in 2013 and then
completed a one-year Cornea & Contact Lens Residency at Pacific University in
Portland, OR. She joined the faculty at University of Houston College of Optometry
(UHCO) in 2014 and went on to complete a PhD on the impact of a scleral lens on the
eye in 2021. Dr. Walker is currently an Assistant Professor at UHCO and runs a
research lab studying keratoconus, the tear film, and the effects of scleral lenses. She

Dr. Davison is dedicated to empowering young women of color interested in optometry as a co-founder of S.C.O.R.E., Inc., a non-profit organization.
Dr. Davison actively contributes to the optometric community and holds important positions within professional organizations. She serves as an executive board member for the IDOC Alliance group, which consists of over 3000 independent ODs. Additionally, she is a proud member of esteemed associations such as the American Optometric Association, National Optometric Association, and Georgia Optometric Association. Dr. Davison's expertise also extends to her role as a speaker and consultant for Alcon, Tarsus, RVL, and Viatris Pharmaceuticals. Furthermore, she has showcased her knowledge and experience through published articles in various publications including Review Optometric Business, Optometry Times, Optometric Management, Independent Strong, and Modern Optometry.
Dr. Davison is an active member of her community serving as an advisory board member for the Cobb County Schools Health and Work-based learning program. For over a decade her vision center has served as an internship location for junior and senior high school students interested in health sciences. Lastly, she is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Davison treasures valuable moments spent with her husband of 18 years and two teenage children.
About Dr. Bollinger
Dr. Bollinger is a board-certified optometrist and a Fellow of the American Academy of
Optometry which demonstrates her commitment to excellence and lifelong learning in
her profession. She has participated in advisory board meetings & also as a Key
Opinion Leader for companies such as Alcon, Ocular Therapeutix, Novartis, ScienceBased Health, Viatris, and TearScience. She enjoys educating which allows her
to share her passion and expertise on dry eye and ocular surgery with other eye care
professionals and the public. She earned her undergraduate degree in Biology at Miami
University in Ohio and her Doctor of Optometry degree at Ohio State University. She
served as an adjunct clinical professor at Ohio State University from 2006-2012. She
has participated as a clinical investigator in several FDA pharmaceutical and surgical
studies for dry eye disease, presbyopia, topical steroids, intraocular lenses, and
Demodex blepharitis. Her primary career goal is to help patients achieve optimal vision
and eye health through personalized and evidence-based care.
As an optometrist with 30+ years of experience, she strives to provide exceptional eye
care to patients with various ocular conditions and needs. She has extensive
experience in perioperative surgical eye care, managing thousands of cases of
refractive, cataract, and cornea surgeries throughout her career. Dr. Bollinger is also
skilled in medical eye care, treating patients with glaucoma, diabetes, macular
degeneration, and dry eyes. Helping patients with ocular surface disease, including dry
eye, meibomian gland disease, & blepharitis is her primary passion. She currently sees patients at Jacksoneye in Lake Villa, Illinois.

About Cory Pinegar
Cory Pinegar is Chief Executive Officer of Utah-based CallForce, a groundbreaking dental service startup helping dental practices increase patient engagement and revenue. In 2016, at the age of 22, Cory struck gold and purchased the company—then named Recall Solutions—from software giant Weave for just one dollar. About Dr. Mila Ioussifova
Graduated with honors from the New England College of Optometry and completed a residency program in community health and ocular disease in Boston, MA. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is on the leadership team of the Anterior Segment Section of the AAO. Dr. Mila served as an adjunct clinical faculty at the Pacific University College of Optometry and was an examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. She is a Board-Certified Nutrition Specialist and studied Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine at the University of Western States. Dr. Mila owns a private practice specializing in advanced dry eye treatments, nutritional counseling, and aesthetic services.
About Dr. Douglas K. Devries
Douglas K. Devries, OD co-founded Eye Care Associates of Nevada in 1992, and since then, has limited his practice to surgical co-management and diseases of the eye. His specific area of interest has been in ocular surface disease, which makes up the majority of his clinical practice. Dr. Devries lectures to colleagues extensively, both nationally and internationally, on anterior segment eye disease. He is the director of the optometric residency program and optometric fourth year intern program at Eye Care Associates and is an Associate Clinical Professor of Optometry.
About Dr. Vittorio Mena
Dr. Vittorio Mena is the sports vision director at Optical Academy in Clifton, NJ. He also serves as an advanced clinical director for Special Olympics Lions Club International Opening Eyes program for the state of NJ. He graduated from Seton Hall University with both a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Microbiology. He received his professional degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2014. Dr. Mena is on the board of directors for his state association NJSOP. In 2019, he was awarded as the NJ Young Optometrist of the year. In 2020 he received the Public Service Award from Salus University. He also serves on the AOA's Sports & Performance Vision Committee. He is a regular monthly contributor to Review of Optometric Business columns and enjoys lecturing on nutrition, myopia management, concussion management, brain health, sports vision performance and finance.

Dr. Morrison is the owner of In Focus: Specialty Contact Lens & Vision Solutions, a private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona that specializes in contact lenses for advanced ocular conditions and comprehensive care for difficult visual cases.
After graduating from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Dr. Morrison completed a Cornea & Contact Lens Residency at SUNY College of Optometry in New York City. Dr. Debby Feinberg began performing pioneering work diagnosing and treating Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD) and Vertical Heterophoria (VH) in 1995. BVD and VH have been found to cause headaches, dizziness, gait imbalance, anxiety, light sensitivity, neck pain, and reading difficulties in approximately 1-in-5 patients. She and her colleagues at Vision Specialists of Michigan have treated more than 20,000 BVD/VH patients with microprism lenses and noise-canceling devices, of which half have been TBI / ABI patients. Her research (presented nationally and internationally) demonstrates that TBI patients with VH experiencing persistent post-concussive symptoms have 80% reduction in these symptoms when treated with microprism lenses and noise-canceling devices.
Since 2013, over 40 optometrists have successfully completed the NeuroVisual Medicine Training Program™ and have gone on to help tens of thousands of patients. Drs. Feinberg and Rosner’s founding of the NeuroVisual Medicine Institute is led by their mission to increase access to NeuroVisual care for patients in every region across the globe.

As the son and grandson of optometrists, Matt had early exposure to the optometric industry and the power of practice ownership. After more than 5 successful years of consulting in the Hospitality and Optometric industries, he joined the NeuroVisual Medicine Institute to lead their growth and development in 2020. Matt’s work is focused on the development of the NeuroVisual Medicine Institute and supporting its global network of trained specialists. Dr. Jennifer Stewart is currently an optometrist and partner at Norwalk Eye Care (www.norwalkeyecare.com) in Norwalk, CT. She is originally from the Hudson Valley, NY and received her Bachelor of Science from Marist College. She earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA.
Dr. Stewart has worked with athletes from the NHL, NFL and NBA as well as professional athletes in squash, lacrosse and figure skating. She has trained youth, elite and recreational athletes in basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, lacrosse, hockey and volleyball.
Dr Stewart was presented with the Theia Award for Innovation by Women in Optometry in 2019 for her work in sports and performance vision. She was also named to the Advisory Board for the International Sports Vision Association (ISVA). She also regularly lectures, writes, and consults in the field of sports vision and other optometric topics.
Dr. Stewart is a former Division I track and field athlete and still holds two college records. She is also an active triathlete, runner and cyclist.

Todd Cohan, O.D. is a graduate of Indiana University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in visual science and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometrists (ICO) and was the sole recipient of ICO’s College of Optometrists in Vision Development Award for excellence in vision therapy and pediatrics. He achieved Clinical Honors in all of his optometric rotations during his externship year at optometry school. He practices full scope optometry, providing treatment and management of ocular diseases, corneal refractive therapy, and contact lenses and vision therapy. Dr. Cohan continues to be on the forefront of technology to provide the most up-to-date and comprehensive care for his patients for the treatment and management of all types of ocular disease. Maintaining his strong commitment to vision development, Dr. Cohan continues to specialize in pediatric vision care programs, including particular expertise in vision therapy and the diagnosis and treatment of learning-related vision problems. He also specializes in hard-to-fit contact lenses as well as extensive expertise fitting bifocal contact lens patients. Dr. Cohan lectures frequently on contact lenses to other optometrists for Alcon Vision Care as well as being a pre-clinical evaluator for newly developed contact lenses before they are launched nationally. He also serves as an optometric medical billing consultant helping fellow optometrists institute the medical model of optometry to their practices.

He is currently Chief of Optometry at the Sepulveda VA Ambulatory Care Center and Nursing Home. He is also the Residency Director at his sight, and a Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University.
Dr. Ferrucci has lectured extensively, with a special interest in Diabetes, Diabetic Eye Disease, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, Fluorescein Angiography, and OCT. Dr. Hauswirth is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where he is Director of the Ocular Surface Clinic and Faculty in the Center for Ocular Inflammation. He performs direct patient care, clinical education to residents in the Department of Ophthalmology, and research in the area of dry eye and neurosensory dysfunction in ocular surface disease.
He graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry and completed his residency in Cornea, Glaucoma, and Surgical Management at Minnesota Eye Consultants, in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he was a consultative optometrist for 17 years. Over his career he has participated in numerous research initiatives including FDA approval studies for drugs, medical devices, and drug delivery platforms, is on the editorial board of four publications, is a frequent lecturer on the national and international spectrum, and has authored several publications and texts.

Benjamin Sullivan is co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of TearLab Corp. He graduated summa cum laude from Boston University in 1997 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. He went on to research the effects of dry eye disease on molecular profiles of the tear film while at the Schepens Eye Research Institute affiliate of Harvard Medical School, prior to obtaining his Ph.D. in Bioengineering at the University of California, San Diego, with a focus on applied nanotechnology for cancer diagnosis.
Benjamin holds dozens of patents across the fields of ophthalmology, biotechnology, and early cancer detection, and his ideas have been the foundation for multiple successful companies, each of which has deployed hundreds of millions of dollars to help the cause of medicine. His current work is focused on applied electromechanical phenomena at the nanoscale with an emphasis on improving the specificity of diagnostic assays. Benjamin is also currently a co-founder and Director of Lµbris BioPharma LLC.

About Dr. Michael O’Neal:
Dr. Michael O’Neal earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2017. Dr. O’Neal currently practices at Dunes Eye Consultants in Dakota Dunes, SD. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the South Dakota Optometric Society, and the Iowa Optometric Association.
Dr. O’Neal focuses on comprehensive well-vision exams for patients of all ages. He provides specialized clinical care for glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, dry eye, headache management and specialty contact lenses.
Additionally, Dr. O’Neal is the director of the Myopia Management Center at Dunes Eye Consultants. He is currently a principal investigator for a FDA clinical trial, which is evaluating specialty spectacle lenses that slow the progression of myopia.

About Dr. Nathan Lighthizer:
Born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota, Dr. Nate Lighthizer, O.D., F.A.A.O., is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry. Upon graduation, he completed a residency in Family Practice Optometry with an emphasis in Ocular Disease through Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry (NSUOCO).
Dr. Lighthizer has since joined the faculty at the Oklahoma College of Optometry and serves as the Chief of Specialty Care Clinics and the Chief of Electrodiagnostics Clinic. In 2014, he founded and now heads the Dry Eye Clinic at the College of Optometry. Also in 2014, he was named the Director of Continuing Education as well as the Assistant Dean for Clinical Care Services at the Oklahoma College of Optometry. Starting in 2020, he was named the Associate Dean of the NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry.
He is a founding member, and currently serves as President, of the Intrepid Eye Society which is a group of emerging thought leaders in optometry. He was named a member of PCON 250 – A list of the top 250 optometrists in the country who practice progressively, provide innovative patient care, conduct optometric research or excel in academia and share what they have learned with other optometrists to advance the profession. Dr. Lighthizer lectures nationally and internationally on numerous topics, most notably advanced ophthalmic procedures, electrodiagnostics, and ocular disease.

Shortly after graduating, Dr. Smiley purchased a two location practice in Central, Ohio. He has since grown Vision Professionals into a successful five location, eight doctor private practice. Dr. Smiley practice focuses on medical eye care and specialty contact lenses, including scleral lenses and myopia control. He is an active consultant, speaker, and clinical investigator for numerous contact lens and pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Smiley is an Assistant Professor of Optometry at The Ohio State University, where he mentors students that rotate through his practice as part of their fourth-year experience.

About Dr. Michael Chaglasian:
Dr. Michael Chaglasian is an Associate Professor at the Illinois College of Optometry and Chief of Staff of the Illinois Eye Institute. He is a graduate of State University of New York College of Optometry and completed a Residency in Primary Eye Care/Ocular Disease at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is a founding member, Immediate Past President and currently the Executive Vice President of the Optometric Glaucoma Society.
Dr. Chaglasian’s clinical practice is focused exclusively on patients with glaucoma and related conditions, while co-managing surgical care as well. His research interests include perimeter and OCT technology, particularly in the collection of reference databases. Dr. Chaglasian has completed many research projects within the glaucoma field and remains actively engaged with new devices and treatments. Dr. Chaglasian has a number of published articles and is passionate about teaching fellow clinicians on the care and management of patients with glaucoma.

Marc Bloomenstein OD, FAAO
Dr. Marc R. Bloomenstein is a 1990 graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in Biology. He received his optometric degree from the New England College of Optometry in 1994. After graduation Dr. Bloomenstein finished a residency in secondary ophthalmic care at the Barnet Dulaney Eye Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He received his fellowship from the American Academy of Optometry in December 1998.
Currently Dr. Bloomenstein is the Director of Optometric Services at the Schwartz Laser Eye Center in Scottsdale, Arizona and President of MRB Eye Consultants. Dr. Bloomenstein is on the editorial board of Primary Care of Optometry News, Review of Optometry, Optometry Times, Modern Optometry, Optometric Management and a frequent contributor to other various optometric journals. Dr. Bloomenstein served as the Chairman of the AOA Continuing Education Committee and served on the board of the Ocular Surface Society of Optometry (OSSO), as well as a founding member of the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Society (OCCRS). Dr. Bloomenstein has served as the President of the Arizona Optometric Association, Legislation Chair and President of the Board of the Arizona Optometric Charitable Foundation. Dr. Bloomenstein has delivered over 1500 invited lectures worldwide and serves as a consultant to numerous industry-leading pharmaceutical, biomedical and information technology companies.

About Dr. Jeff Varanelli
Dr. Varanelli is a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry. Currently, Dr. Varanelli practices at the Simone Eye Center, where he specializes in comprehensive eye care, with an emphasis on the medical and surgical co-management of eye disease. Dr. Varanelli is a member of many local, state, and national societies, including the American Optometric Association and the Michigan Optometric Association, where he served on the Continuing Education Committee, the Recruitment and Retention Committee, and the Nominating Committee.
Dr. Varanelli is a Diplomate in the American Board of Optometry, as well as the American Board of Certification in Medical Optometry. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a founding member of the Academy’s Anterior Segment Section, a Past Chair, and currently its Vendor Relations Chair. He served as a Clinical Examiner for the National Board of Examiners in optometry, is a past president of the Metropolitan Detroit Optometric Society, as well as a Past President of the Illinois College of Optometry Alumni Council.
Dr. Varanelli has been a Clinical Associate Professor at the Michigan College of Optometry, and is a Course Reviewer for the Council on Optometric Practitioner Education. He is a published author and has lectured extensively to the optometric profession and to other health care workers and organizations. He is sought after to lecture on topics related to refractive surgery, anterior segment pathology, dry eye, pharmacology, and other eye care topics. He was awarded the Michigan Optometric Association’s Young Optometrist of the Year in 2004.

Greg Caldwell, O.D., is a 1995 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry (ABO). He currently works in Duncansville, Pennsylvania as an ocular disease consultant. Dr. Caldwell’s primary focus is the diagnosis and management of anterior and posterior segment ocular disease, and he has been a participant in multiple FDA investigations and trials. Dr. Caldwell is a co-founder of Optometric Education Consultants and co-administrator of OCT Connect on Facebook. Dr. Caldwell has lectured extensively throughout the county and over thirteen countries internationally. In 2010 he served as President of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association (POA) and served on the AOA Board of Trustees 2013-2016. He is President of the Blair/Clearfield Association for the Blind.
About Dr. Andrew Pucker:
Dr. Pucker earned his OD, MS, and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University, and he is currently an Assistant Professor and the Director of Clinical Research and Myopia Control at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Pucker has been the Principal Investigator of a National Eye Institute funded project related to myopia development, and he currently manages other funded projects related to refractive error, dry eye, and contact lenses. He is a Fellow and Diplomate of the American Academy of Optometry, Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, and Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association. He has also received a number of others honors, which include two William C. Ezell Fellowships, the Irvin M. and
Beatrice Borish Award, the Association of Schools & Colleges of Optometry’s Rising Star Award, and being named as an Emerging Vision Scientist by the Alliance for Eye and Vision Research.
About Dr. Mitch Ibach:
Dr. Mitch Ibach is a fellowship-trained optometrist at Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, SD since 2014. Dr. Ibach specializes in anterior segment surgical care including cataracts, corneal diseases, glaucoma, and refractive surgeries. Dr. Ibach maintains a large collaborative glaucoma clinic that focuses on long-term disease care. Dr. Ibach has participated in numerous FDA and industry sponsored clinical trials in the areas of cataracts, cornea, glaucoma, and refractive surgery. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Ibach is often invited to speak at national optometry conferences like the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Ibach also lectures to different state and regional optometric associations. His talks focus on glaucoma, corneal diseases, refractive surgery, and cataract surgery. Dr. Ibach is also affiliated with the South Dakota Optometric Association and the Optometric Cornea, Cataract, and Refractive Society (OCCRS), and the Optometric Glaucoma Society (OGS).
Dr. Ibach, his wife Megan, and their son Cameron all reside in Sioux Falls, SD. The Ibach family is known for their dedication to exercise and a healthy lifestyle. About Dr. Christopher Wolfe:
Dr. Christopher Wolfe is a graduate of Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of
Optometry. While in school, he served as president of the American Optometric Student
Association, where he represented over 6,000 members.
He is currently the Chair of the American Optometric Association’s State Government Relations Committee and the Legislative Chair for the Nebraska Optometric Association.
In 2013 and 2015 he was awarded Young Optometrist of the Year for the Nebraska OptometricAssociation.
In 2016 he was awarded the Optometrist of the Year for the
Nebraska Optometric Association and the Young Optometrist of the Year for the American
Optometric Association. In 2014 he was awarded Political Keyperson of the Year for the

About Dr. Lindsay Sicks
Dr. Sicks graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2006 with a BA in Biology. She received her OD from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2010 and went on to complete a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. While in Oklahoma, she was certified in and performed therapeutic anterior segment laser and minor surgical procedures. Currently, Dr. Sicks serves as an attending optometrist for third- and fourth-year interns in the Cornea Center for Clinical Excellence fitting specialty contact lenses and managing dry eye and anterior segment disease. She is also involved in the didactic training of students in specialty contact lenses and ophthalmic surgical procedures including injections, minor surgical procedures, and anterior segment laser therapy. She has delivered continuing education and presented research and posters at both local and national optometry meetings. Dr. Sicks is Chair of the Faculty-Student Liaison Committee for the American Academy of Optometry and also serves on their Leadership Task Force. She is a member of the Communications Committee for the Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators. She is also a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach.

About Dr. Lindsey Bull:
A Certified Ocular Disease Trained Optometrist currently practicing at EyeCare Associates of South Tulsa, where she enjoys utilizing the skills she has been trained for, including anterior segment laser procedures, in office surgical procedures and treatment of a wide variety of ocular diseases. In addition to her daily practice Dr. Bull is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is active in the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians.
Dr. Bull has received a number of awards including the American Optometric Association “Eyes on the Future” award, the “Golden Retinoscope” and the “Outstanding Clinician Award” both presented by Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry, and was asked to present research on that she completed while attending NSU College of Optometry at the American Academy of Optometry conference. She was also published as the cover story in the October 2017 edition of Optometric Management.
Originally from Novi, Michigan, Dr. Bull obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 2008. Dr. Bull received her Doctorate of Optometry from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, in 2012, and completed a residency in ocular disease through NSU at EyeCare Associates of South Tulsa in 2013.
Dr. Bull enjoys serving patients less fortunate. She has participated and led three separate medical mission trips to Honduras, where she has helped provide eye care to over 2,500 patients. She is also a frequent volunteer in the Tulsa community providing her services in helping optometric students provide care to patients in desperate need. Dr. Bull plans are to continue to stay active and assist patients with their ocular needs in Oklahoma. Dr. Bull currently resides in Tulsa with her husband William Bull.

About Dr. Vin Dang:
Vin T. Dang is an optometrist practicing in Bakersfield, California with a unique clinical focus on ocular surface disease and dry eye.
Born and raised in Paris, France, Dr. Dang earned his Doctorate of Optometry from Southern California College of Optometry. In 2016, he received his Fellowship with the American Academy of Optometry.
As Director of Dry Eye Center at Empire Eye and Laser Center, Dr. Dang is a specialist in ocular surface diseases, advanced refractive eye surgery care, and glaucoma. He also runs the residency program.
Dr. Dang has contributed to optometric journals and lectures on ocular surface disease treatment and management. He serves on the advisory boards assisting in the research and development of dry eye therapies, and crafting disease management protocols.
He is a member of the American Optometric Association, and is the president of the Kern County Optometric Society. He volunteers nationally and internationally with OneSight.

Dr. Koetting practices at the secondary tertiary surgical center Virginia Eye Consultants in Norfolk, VA. Her primary focus is ocular disease specializing in anterior segment and corneal disease, neuro-optometry, and peri-operative care. She also partakes in clinical research and the maintenance of the referral network alongside the practices other optometrists. About Dr. Joe Pizzimenti:
Dr. Joseph Pizzimenti is a full-time faculty member and tenured Professor at the Rosenberg School of Optometry at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Pizzimenti completed a residency Ocular Disease and Rehabilitative Optometry at the University of Houston. He is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and the Optometric Retina Society (ORS), serving as ORS President from 2012- 2014.
Dr. Pizzimenti’s teaching and research interests include oculo-systemic disease, age- related macular degeneration, vitreomacular adhesion, and clinical applications of multimodal ophthalmic imaging. His scientific articles have appeared in a host of peer- reviewed journals. Dr. Pizzimenti was awarded a Fellowship by the World Council of Optometry in 2006, resulting in an appointment to teach and evaluate optometric education programs in Central Europe.

About Dr. Andy Fischer:
Andrew Fischer attended Indiana University and after three years of undergraduate courses, was admitted into the Indiana University School of Optometry where he graduated in 2018. In optometry school he served as the President of the IU Optometric Student Association.
In 2019, Dr. Fischer completed a residency at Specialty Eye in Seattle, Washington with a focus in corneal disease, specialty contact lenses, and dry eye disease. He was nominated for and received the George Mertz Contact Lens Residency Award for his achievements during his residency year. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry Cornea and Contact Lens Section.
After completing his residency, Dr. Fischer joined his hometown practice, Professional Eyecare Associates in Huntingburg and Jasper, Indiana. In addition to primary eye health exams, Dr. Fischer integrated and now leads the Dry Eye and Specialty Contact Lens Clinic within the practice.

About Dr. Elise Kramer:
Dr. Elise Kramer is a residency-trained optometrist in Miami FL who specializes in ocular surface disease and regular and specialty contact lens fitting.
Her Doctorate degree was awarded in Optometry from the Université de Montréal in 2012 where she received a grant from the Scholarship Program of the Québec Ministry of Education for short-term university studies outside of Québec. Receipt of this scholarship award is based on academic performance. In the summer of her second year, she participated in a humanitarian mission in Laayoune, Morocco where she helped hundreds of impoverished people by giving them free eye examinations and glasses corresponding as closely as possible to their prescription.
During her fourth year, she completed her internship in ocular disease at the Eye Centers of South Florida and went on to complete her residency at the Miami VA Medical Center. Her time there included training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top eye hospital. Dr. Dierker is Director of Optometric Services at Eye Surgeons of Indiana and an adjunct faculty member at the Indiana University School of Optometry. About Dr. Craig Norman:
A clinician for over 4 decades, he has been involved in the development and evaluation of numerous products and technologies in the soft, GP and scleral lens category. Until the summer of 2018 he was the founding Director of Research at the Michigan College of Optometry, Ferris State University where he remains on the adjunct faculty.
From its inception in 2002 through 2018 he was a Founder and Education Committee Chairman of the Global Specialty Lens Symposium.
Mr. Norman has been a Consulting Editor to the Contact Lens Spectrum authoring a column on Prescribing for Presbyopia for 15 years, and more recently along with Patrick Caroline co-author of the History of Contact Lenses column in the same publication.

Howard Purcell, OD ‘84, FAAO was named the College’s 13th president in July of 2018. Dr. Purcell brings to the position a wealth of experience in private practice, academia, and the optometric industry. He is well versed in evolving trends and technologies in healthcare and optometry in particular and brings this expertise to the presidency.
Prior to his appointment as President, Dr. Purcell served as the Senior Vice President, Customer Development for Essilor of America. He was part of the Essilor team for 10 years. Prior to joining Essilor he spent 13 years as Senior Director of Professional Affairs for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care.

About Dr. Selina McGee:
Dr. Selina McGee is Founder and Owner of Precision Vision of Edmond, a boutique private practice that offers patients a wide range of optometric care via its dry eye center of excellence, specialty contact lens clinic and aesthetics suite. The practice also performs extensive pathology management and laser and minor surgical procedures. In 2018, Dr. McGee introduced eye rejuvenation services to help patients bothered by drooping eyelids or wrinkles around their eyes. In addition to her private practice, Dr. McGee is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Northeastern State University College of Optometry. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Diplomate of the American Board of Optometry, and is Past-President of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians. About Dr. Elise Kramer:
Dr. Elise Kramer is a residency-trained optometrist in Miami FL who specializes in ocular surface disease and regular and specialty contact lens fitting.
Her Doctorate degree was awarded in Optometry from the Université de Montréal in 2012 where she received a grant from the Scholarship Program of the Québec Ministry of Education for short-term university studies outside of Québec. Receipt of this scholarship award is based on academic performance. In the summer of her second year, she participated in a humanitarian mission in Laayoune, Morocco where she helped hundreds of impoverished people by giving them free eye examinations and glasses corresponding as closely as possible to their prescription.
During her fourth year, she completed her internship in ocular disease at the Eye Centers of South Florida and went on to complete her residency at the Miami VA Medical Center. Her time there included training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the nation’s top eye hospital. Dr. Justin Schweitzer specializes in advanced glaucoma, refractive surgical clinical care, and anterior segment pathology at Vance Thompson Vision. He received his professional training and Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, OR.
In 2012 he pursued his dream to focus on glaucoma, advanced anterior segment surgery care and pathology, joining Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He received his optometry degree from the Hogeschool van Utrecht in the Netherlands (NL) and has served as a head of the contact lens department at the school for over eight years. Eef received his PhD from the University of Maastricht (NL) in 2008. He now runs his own research & education consultancy 'Eye-Contact-Lens' which is based in Amsterdam (NL), and gives courses on ‘How to Present’.

About Dr. Art Epstein:
Arthur B. Epstein, OD, FAAO is a native New Yorker who grew up in the Bronx, NY. He received an O.D. degree from the State University of New York, State College of Optometry where he also was the college's first resident in ocular disease.
After relocating to Phoenix, Dr. Epstein co-founded Phoenix Eye Care, PLLC. He heads the practice’s Dry Eye - Ocular Surface Disease Center – The Dry Eye Center of Arizona, and serves as its Director of Clinical Research. Dr. Jeffry Gerson graduated from Indiana University school of Optometry in 1997, after which he went on to do a VA residency concentrating in low vision and ocular disease. He has been in several different practice settings, including a retina referral practice where he participated in several large clinical trials.
Currently, Dr Gerson is in private practice that is a collaboration of both OD’s and MD’s. He see’s primary care patients, and has an emphasis on retinal care in his practice. Dr. Steven Ferrucci, a 1994 graduate of the New England College of Optometry, completed his Residency in Primary Care/Hospital Based/Geriatric Optometry at the Sepulveda VA Hospital in Sepulveda CA. He is currently Chief of Optometry at the Sepulveda VA Ambulatory Care Center and Nursing Home. He is also the Residency Director at his sight, and a Professor at the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University.

Dr. Sonsino is a Diplomate in the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), past-chairman of the Contact Lens and Cornea Section of the American Optometric Association (AOA), founding emeritus board member of the Healthcare Alliance for Patient Safety, a fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society, board certified by the American Board of Optometry (ABO), past president of the Middle Tennessee Optometric Association, the 2017 Gas Permeable Lens Institute (GPLI) practitioner of the year, the 2017 AOA’s Advocate of the Year, the 2018 Optometrist of the Year awardee by the Tennessee Optometric Association, and, most recently, was appointed to the Innovation Council of the American Academy of Optometry. In his spare time, he co-founded and is the chief medical officer of myEyeris, a company founded to nurture the doctor-patient relationship for independent optometrists.

She has held leadership roles in the American Optometric Association including Illinois State President, Chair of the Cornea and Contact Lens Section. Eef van der Worp is an educator and researcher. He received his optometry degree from the Hogeschool van Utrecht in the Netherlands (NL) and has served as a head of the contact lens department at the school for over eight years. Eef received his PhD from the University of Maastricht (NL) in 2008. He now runs his own research & education consultancy 'Eye-Contact-Lens' which is based in Amsterdam (NL), and gives courses on ‘How to Present’.
He is a fellow of the AAO, BCLA and the SLS, a lifetime fellow of IACLE and a honorly life member or the Dutch contact lens association ANVC. And he is on the education committee for a number of conferences, including the Global Specialty Lens Symposium (GSLS) in the US and the Dutch Contact Lens Conference (NCC) and Dutch Optometric Society meeting (OVN). He is a board member of the BCLA journal Contact Lens & Anterior Eye.
Eef is adjunct assistant Professor at Pacific University College of Optometry (Oregon, USA), and adjunct Professor at the University of Montreal University College of Optometry (CA) and he is lecturing extensively worldwide and is a guest lecturer at a number of Universities in the US and Europe.

He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, and he received his Master’s and PhD degrees from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. Dr. Walline has led several pediatric contact lens studies, and he is the Study Chair of the Bifocal Lenses In Nearsighted Kids (BLINK) Study, a National Eye Institute-sponsored randomized clinical trial to investigate the myopia control effects of soft multifocal contact lenses.

written over a hundred articles and papers, and has given several hundred
lectures internationally.
Dr. Kading is expanding the methods of gaining eyecare information
through his social media and digital channels. He has a regular vlog post
on his youtube page: davekading. He also has a regular Video Column
called Clinical Insights, several columns in Contact Lens Spectrum, and an
email column in Contact Lens Today.
Above all things, he enjoys spending time with his optometrist wife, Dr.
