संयोग : पौष महीना 2 बार होने से इस साल 12 की बजाय 13 अमावस्याएं
अमावस्या और पितरों का संबंध
पंचाग के एक साल में 12 अमावस्या होती है। लेकिन इस साल जनवरी और दिसंबर में फिर पौष महीना होने के कारण 13 अमावस्या होगी। धर्म ग्रंथों में इसे पर्व कहा गया है। इस दिन तीर्थ स्नान के बाद दान और फिर पितरों की विशेष पूजा करने की परंपरा है। जब तिथियों की घट-बढ़ होती है। तब ये पर्व कभी-कभी दो दिन तक भी रहता है। इसलिए जब दोपहर में अमावस्या हो उस दिन पितरों के लिए श्राद्ध-तर्पण किया जाता है। यही जब सूर्योदय के समय हो तो स्नान और दान किया जाता है। इस साल सोमवती अमावस्या का संयोग एक बार और शनैश्चरी अमावस्या का योग 2 बार बन रहा है।
