I'm a history teacher and musician and every other week I cover a topic from American history ranging from the important to the cultural to the weird and unusual. Also once a month I produce a bonus episode focusing on the creation on a piece of music be it a modern rock album to classical music or the lore of video game.
In 1872 the news of the discovery of a bonanza of diamonds and other precious gems somewhere in the western territories excites the nations. As many have visions of another gold rush just this time with diamonds. Yet for one young scientist this news is potentially career threatening. This is where that story begins.

Klan leader DC Stephenson commits a crime so heinous that not even all his power and influence can help him escape justice. His downfall then becomes the first domino to topple as the 1920s klan falls out of favor and fades into irrelevance.

With the future of the United States balanced upon a knife's edge due to the question of slavery the Compromise of 1850 hold's the promise of easing those tensions. Yet part of that Compromise the new fugitive slave act only serves to bring the country closer to civil war as southern slaveholders look to recapture the people who had fled to the north seeking freedom. This series then focuses on some of the clashes that resulted from this law like the one that happened in Christiana Pennsylvania between slave holder Edward Gorsuch and the enslaved men who had fled from his farm in Maryland.

After a pair of shark attacks along the Jersey shore a large shark was swimming up the Matawan Creek. Where despite efforts to raise the alarm a young boy's life could be claimed by the wayward shark. The traedy though was not yet over.

As thousands flocked to the Jersey shore in the summer of 1916 none could anticipate the horrors that awaited them. At least in part because no one at the time believed that sharks were dangerous. Indeed never before in American history was their an officially recorded incident of a shark attacking a person. The Mississippi River could no longer be contained as even the vaunted federal levees started to fail.

Yet it was at that moment that they suffered an inimaginable tragedy when their friend, bass player, and guiding force Cliff Burton died suddenly in a bus accident in Europe. This is the story of how Metallica picked up the pieces and pressed on creating in the process their heaviest album ever.
On Governor Rockefeller's orders rather than continue negotiations New York state police lead the assault on Attica's D year. An assault the leads to the deaths of 29 inmates and 10 hostages. Yet despite the state troopers being responsible for each and everyone of these deaths initial reports claim otherwise as the state of New York attempts to cover up what happened in Attica.
