Sharon Hatfield is a nonfiction author living in Athens, Ohio. Her newest book, Enchanted Ground: The Spirit Room of Jonathan Koons, was published by Swallow Press in November 2018.
Jonathan Koons was considered one of the most impressive physical mediums of the 1850s, and today Koons is credited with developing the trumpet used for voice communication in séances. His Athens County “spirit room,” offered public demonstrations of instrumental music, singing, and spectral hands. During her eight years of research, Hatfield found visitors’ accounts in the spiritualist press as well as letters and essays penned by Koons himself. The Journal of Scientific Exploration has termed her book “a fascinating snapshot of the Spiritualist movement in its infancy.”
A native of Ewing, Virginia, Hatfield earned undergraduate degrees in English and biology at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee. She became a newspaper reporter and later earned a master’s degree in journalism from Ohio University and an MFA in creative nonfiction from Goucher College in Maryland. She also has worked as an editor, English professor, and manuscript consultant.
Sharon has twice received an Individual Excellence Award from the Ohio Arts Council, most recently in 2018 for her work on Enchanted Ground. Her previous book Never Seen the Moon: The Trials of Edith Maxwell won the Weatherford and Chaffin awards for nonfiction.
Rev. Robin Reale, PhD (ABD), Special Education Public Policy, is an ordained Spiritualist Minister and Metaphysician through the Fellowships of the Spirit, Lily Dale, NY. Robin serves Spiritualist churches throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Indiana, and New York as lecturer, medium, and Spiritualist historian. I died March 14, 1994, at the age of 43, but voluntarily returned to human life to share what I could remember

Sharon Siubis has trained and worked as a Spiritualist Minister, Speaker, Medium, and Healer for over 15 years. In this program, Dr. Holden will report on both research findings and personal and professional experiences with after-death communication (ADC): the spontaneous or facilitated experience of direct contact with a deceased person with whom one has a personal relationship. For the research portion, she will review findings from the 35 studies of spontaneous ADC that were published between 1894 and 2006 involving over 50,000 people from around the world as well as a 2011 study in Australia. She will also describe practice of Induced After-Death Communication (IADC), a technique to facilitate a client’s ADC during a counseling session—including a study she and her research team recently completed on the effects of IADC on grief. TINA M. ZION is a fourth generation psychic medium, specializing in medical intuition and teaching it internationally. Five years ago. I listened in stunned silence as my skeptical and rationalist father described seeing angels in his last days of life. Three days before dying, he announced, "The angels say only three days left now." He spoke of a "green dimension" and his room crowded with people who were unseen to me. I listened in awe as I transcribed his final words that not only painted a world unseen to me but were rich in language patterns that appeared to be unique to end of life. Trained in linguistics, I was deeply curious about the language I witnessed. Lynne Forget attended her first Spiritualist church in Hamilton, Ontario in 1987 and was totally fascinated with the demonstration of Mediumship she saw there. Lynne is now a graduate of the Ministerial Program at Fellowships of the Spirit in Lily Dale NY, and has also completed the Morris Pratt Institute course on the History of Modern Spiritualism.
