Jesus was wholly human and fully Divine! Did Jesus claim to be God? Not in those exact words. Was he accused of claiming to be God? As a matter of fact, He was. Jesus understood His identity, His Deity and Divinity, and His relationship with the Father. His response to his critics in context was profound. Too often in Christian camps we have a tendency of slinging around sound bites and Christian cliches without really explaining what we mean OR what Scripture says OR where we get that understanding. This message attempts to put just some of the pieces together in what it means when the Bible says Jesus was God.

Most people don't set out on a journey with plans to purposefully fail - just as most people don't set out getting married with plans to divorce. Erosion happens gradually. We wander off the trail. By the same token, most people don't set out to jeopardize their faith. But many wander - they "drift away." The author of Hebrews, using nautical terms when he writes "pay attention," meaning keep on course, and "drift away," referring to a ship that has lost its anchor, warns his readers of the dangers of drifting away; not once, but throughout the book. In this message, Pastor Rod paints a contrast between two significant lines of theological thought while emphasizing the overarching message of Hebrews 2:1-4.

Happy Mother's Day! While parents aren't perfect (and kids don't come with instruction manuals) God has given us several relevant examples and principles for parenting as well as a guidebook for life in Scripture. Evidence can be found in studying several of the great moms in the Bible!!!
Adam and Eve responded one way to temptation. Jesus responded another. Revealed were some of the inner-workings of the evil one. This sermon was never finished. If Satan set is ultimate goal as destruction, God has set His goal as redemption of sinful man through the cross of Jesus Christ. The cross takes the place of our sins for those who receive Him.

Hebrews 7:23-8:2
23 Now there have been many of those priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office; 24 but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
26 Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.
8 Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.
When you look at Hebrews 11 and the "Hall of Faith," some Bible characters seem to have a better record than others; yet God is not ashamed to be called "their God." And Jesus is not ashamed to call us "brothers and sisters." In the message, Pastor Rod unpacks Hebrews 11:1-16 and 2:11, driving home what Real Faith is all about, from destination to being His children!
