Recently, Kirk Cameron has questioned whether unbelievers will suffer for all eternity, or will only suffer for a finite amount of time and then cease to exist. What does Scripture, especially the book of Revelation, tell us about "the end?"

Paul was a Jew amongst Jews, a Pharisee amongst Pharisees. Why then would Jesus send him to be an Apostle to the Gentiles? As a highly education Jew, wouldn't it have made more sense to make him an Apostle to the Jews? As with most things, Jesus does not use the same logic we do, and turns things on their head!

The Apostle Paul gets a bad rap sometimes, especially from women. But Paul loved the Church and Paul loved people! Romans 16 is an easy chapter for us to ignore because it just seems like an endless list of greetings to a bunch of people with really difficult Greek names! But we shouldn't overlook it because it tells us something about Paul, and more importantly, it's a model for us to follow in our own church!

There are several essential truths in Scripture; Truths that you need to believe to call yourself a Christian. We don't usually think of Jesus as a patriot. After all, as the Sovereign God, He owns every nation on the entire earth! But as fully Man, and as a Jew, Jesus loved Israel, especially the city of Jerusalem, which was supposed to be a holy city on a hill. Instead, when Jesus enters it on Palm Sunday, He finds it is anything but a holy city devoted to God. What does Jesus' patriotism teach us about what our loyalty and love of country should look like?

If you knew someone was going to break into your house tonight, what would you do to prepare for it? The chances that the burglar would be successful breaking into your home if you are prepared for it go down dramatically! It's the same with the Second Coming of Jesus. If we are prepared for it, the chances that we will be condemned by Jesus also decrease! Get prepared! Lock your doors and grab your weapons!

While Jesus walked the earth, His siblings, even though they had heard Him teach and seen Him perform miracles, did not believe He was the Messiah. In Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, He says both, "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven," AND, "When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." So which is it? Are we to give and do good works to be seen or are we to do them in secret?

Since God is Omniscient and never forgets anything, why did Nehemiah feel it necessary to ask God to rememeber him 6 times in the book of Nehemiah? Why did the other Biblical writers ask God to remember them for a total of 235 times?!

When Haggai went to Jerusalem, the Temple was still in ruins, even though 17 years earlier, God told the returning Israelites to get it rebuilt. They claimed it wasn't the right time to rebuild; but it seemed the right time to them to rebuild their own houses and tend to their own interests. How about us? Are we about God's work or our own work?

When we get to Daniel 9, we see that even after 70 years in exile in Babylon, the Israelites were still sinning and needed Daniel to intercede with God on their behalf. Many years in exile had taken a toll on them. It's the same for us. We are in exile on this fallen earth until Jesus delivers us from it either by our death or His return. How can Daniel's words help us as we wait for our deliverance?

We need to take our sin seriously and be continually repenting of it; BUT we need to make sure that we don't forget that because of what Jesus did for us, EVERY one of our sins are forgiven by God. Instead of getting what we deserve for our sin, we, receive steadfast love from God that never ceases. We find mercies that are new every morning. These words are more than just lyrics to a beloved hymn!

The Bible is not a book of separate narratives and stories. Instead, it is a collection of narratives that tell ONE story - the story of God's redemption of His people. In the book of Ezekiel, God tells the Judahites that He will throw them into the fire of His wrath and they will be melted down completely. How does this narrative, the narrative of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednigo, and Jesus' final judgement at His Second Coming all tell the same story?

Clay and jars of clay is a reoccurring theme in Scripture. Clay jars are used to represent our human bodies, or more specifically, our very frail human bodies that are completely dependent upon the Sovereign Hand of God who formed us. Whether God decides to smash us or not to smash us is completely dependent upon His mercy as Jeremiah 19 shows us. But, as Paul shows us in Romans and 2 Corinthians, there is motive behind God's decision in the smashing!

Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." But what happens when you do exactly that, and your child walks away from the Lord. And in contrast, how do some really solid Christians come from atheist parents? We may strive and work to leave a godly and good legacy for our children and grandchildren, but that doesn't guarantee that they will follow in our footsteps. One thing you notice when reading through the Bible, and you get to the books of 1 & 2 Chronicles is that is repeats much of what is already recorded in 1 & 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings. Sometimes, it repeats narratives word for word, sometimes, though, the books of Chronicles add or omit details of the books of Samuel and Kings. You are not experiencing Deja Vu, nor is God being redundant. There is good reason for all of it. Join us as we delve into that reason!

Solomon built the Temple with the materials and the plan that his father David gave to him. David delighted that his son would get the glory for carrying out all of the prep work that David had laid out, while Solomon was quick to give the glory of the Temple back to his father, David. This team effort is more than just a father and son perfectly cooperating with each other - it symbolizes the team effort of God the Father and Jesus the Son in God's plan for the permanent, eternal Temple!

Sometimes we all need to be told to, "Get our head on straight," especially if we are looking at unbelievers with envy, wishing we had what they had! In Psalm 73, Asaph, one of David's worship leaders and writer of several psalms, takes us through the progression of seeing what the wicked have, comparing it to our own circumstances, feeling jealousy, but then catching ourself and getting our head back on straight.

Jesus is God and the manifestation of the Word of God - that is 100% true. But Luke tells us that Jesus, fully Man, grew in wisdom and stature. Jesus, fully Man went to Hebrew school and learned and memorized Scripture like all of the other Jewish boys. Imagine a 6 or 7 year old Jesus reading and memorizing Psalm 22 which was all about His earthly ministry and His earthly death! Join us as we go through Psalm 22 through the eyes of the boy, Jesus.

When David made preparations to build a permanent Temple, he knew that would mean that the task of moving and transporting the Tabernacle would become obsolete. What did he do? He gave those Levites who had previously done that job something new to do; but he made sure that their new tasks fell within the parameters that God had given him. Is there a message in this for us? There sure is!!

Many Christians are disappointed that after the huge victory God gave us last November, we are still fighting so much evil and corruption. The biblical writers, especially David completely understood why this is, and would tell us all, "Onward, Christian Soldiers!" There is much fighting that still needs to be done, and will always need to be done until Jesus comes back!

There is no shortage of Scriptures that false teachers rip out of the Bible, twist, and pervert; and 1 Samuel 24 is no exception. In this chapter, we see David having a chance to kill King Saul and move along God's plan for him to become king of Israel, but he doesn't because as he says, he will not touch God's anointed. What does this passage really mean and how are so many false teachers lying about it to push their own demonic teaching?

In 1 Samuel 14, we see Saul make a rash vow, putting his men under demands that didn't require, nor command. As a result, his son Jonathan's life is on the line as he unintentionally breaks this vow. The two questions arise from this passage - 1) Should Saul have followed through with his vow and killed his son, Jonathan, for breaking it? and 2) What is the lesson this passage teaches us?

Let's be honest, there are some stories of some pretty depraved people in Scripture. But perhaps none is so vile as the story of the Levite found in the book of Judges in chapters 19 - 21. What makes this story even worse, is that eleven tribes of Israel declare the twelfth tribe guilty and go to war against it based off of this one man's testimony; something the Bible prohibits us from doing. Sadly, this same thing occurs even today.

Numbers 30 is full of commands and parameters about vows made by men and women. If a woman made a vow, and her father or husband forbade it immediately, God would release her from that vow. If, however, her husband let her make that vow initially, but later sees that it was too much for her to keep, he could take the consequences of her breaking the vow on himself and release her from it. Before getting angry that women were being treated differently than men, take a listen to what this all really points to!

Most of us know the story of how Moses struck the rock at Horeb and brought forth water for the Israelites. It may seem strange to us, then, that when he does almost the same thing at the rock at Meribah, God not only gets angry, but punishes him by not letting him enter the Promised Land! In Leviticus 17, God tells the Israelites regarding their eating animals, "No person among you shall eat the blood." Now, Christians can rightly say that we don't have to follow these Old Testament practices anymore, but the Apostles, when writing to the Gentile Christians in Acts 15, that they didn't have to be circumcised, but they did need to abstain from eating blood. So what's this mean for us? Can a Christian eat a rare steak or are we violating God's command about not eating blood?

In Exodus 32, the Israelites sin by worshipping and dancing before a golden calf they had their priest, Aaron, make for them. There is trend in some churches today called "prophetic dancing." Is this biblical, or are they just bringing attention to themselves so they can be worshipped. Are they like that golden calf? For that matter, is there anything we may do in worship that can make us a golden calf?

When Moses asked Pharaoh to let the Israelites go and worship God, not only did Pharaoh say no, he piled more work on them so they would be too distracted with work to cry out to the Lord and want to go worship Him. Satan, the world, and even our own sinful flesh will try and distract us from the things of God. It may not always be with work; it can be our family, church service, approval of others, money, comfort, security, or a host of other things. But if we let distractions keep us from the things of God, it will lead to slavery.

We we read a few of the accounts in the Old Testament where women are treated like second-class citizens and even abused; we may be tempted to think that was God's doing. But it certainly was not! It was evil men acting sinfully. As the end of the book of Job illustrates, in God's house, men and women are of equal worth and receive equal treatment.

Some say the Biblical book, Song of Solomon, is meant to paint a picture of the love between God and His people, while others say it's about the romantic love between a husband and wife. But it isn’t either / or. Nothing in Scripture is one dimensional, so passages in the Bible often have both an obvious meaning, as well as a deeper symbolic meaning; and that’s exactly what is happening with Song of Solomon. Peter is a man of few words. He gets to his point and is often very blunt. In his masterful letter, 1 Peter, Peter shows a great dichotomy between those who belong to God and those who don't. He gives us the parameters of each of the two groups, as well as each groups response to God, and God's response to them.

Without God, we are completely helpless and can do nothing of any eternal value. After Jesus' Transfiguration, He comes down from the mountain to find His disciples arguing with teachers of the Law and others. When Jesus inquires about the cause of the argument, a man tells Jesus that the disciples were unable to exorcise a demon from his son. When the disciples ask Jesus why they couldn't cleanse the boy from the demon, Jesus' very puzzling answer is, "This kind of demon can only come out by prayer." Many of us are familiar with Matthew 4:1 - 11 - a tired and hungry Jesus who has just spent 40 days in the wilderness – which was more like a dessert than a forest – and He hasn’t eaten anything. Did you know that evangelizing the Gospel is not something new in the New Testament? God used prophets beginning all the way back with Moses to preach the good news of salvation that can only come from God. King Solomon is presented with two mothers - both of whom have had a son, but only one son has survived. To find out who the real mother is, Solomon declares that he will cut the living boy in two and give half to each. The real mother immediately speaks up and pleads for the baby not to be killed, but instead, be given alive to the other woman. She was willing to sacrifice what she loved most in this world for the sake of her son. This passage is about so much more than a mother willing to give up her son just to save his life. It is about what we are willing to give up for the sake of the Son. Join us as we see this reoccurring theme throughout Scripture.

When we take the time to really read our Bible – to see the connections between the Old Testament and New Testament, it leaves absolutely no doubt that while God used many different men – from different time periods, different backgrounds, different educations, different vocations – all very different – that ultimately there has to be only 1 Author, because otherwise Scripture could never be as intentional, orderly, and cohesive as it is.

When you read the Bible chronologically, you catch some things you may miss when reading straight through from Genesis to Revelation. Take 2 Samuel 24 and 1 Chronicles 21, for example. In 2 Samuel, the verses say that God incited David to take a census of his army, while 1 Chronicles says it was Satan that incited David. Why the disparity? Who actually incited David? Is this a contradiction in Scripture? Join us as we discuss!
David made a covenant with Saul's son Jonathan; but that was before David became king and all of Saul's family his enemies. So why then does David seek out Jonathan's son, Mephibosheth and bring him to the palace? Mephibosheth is destitute, lame, helpless, and living in exile. The one thing this family all has in common is that they are ignoring the promise that has already been spoken by God.
