Mary welcomes back David Bowen for a thoughtful conversation on socialism in America. While it’s hardly a new headline, it appears that the election of the Muslim/Communist in NYC is going to have ripple effects, and largely intentional. With the Democratic Socialist party taking shape in the liberal cities of our nation, more and more candidates are emboldened and showing their true colors. We define socialism, track it’s unsuccessful march around the globe, and ask ourselves, “why now?” type of questions. Surely bible prophecy must fit in and the rise of Antichrist. But for now, the youth, who have no experiential knowledge of the Cold War or Vietnam era, seem to think it is a good fit to level the playing field of politics and economics. Which they are wrong about of course because socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried, and millions have died. Does that matter? Of course it does. We look at it’s connection with Islam, antisemitism, and the last days.

M.D. Perkins is Research Fellow of Church and Culture for the American Family Association. Since joining AFA in 2014, M.D.’s primary role has been with American Family Studios where he has written, produced, and directed a number of documentaries.
M.D. is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design where he studied filmmaking. He produced and directed The God Who Speaks (2018) and he was a producer on In His Image: Delighting in God’s Plan for Gender and Sexuality (2020). His book (2022) gives an in-depth look at the way the LGBT movement has impacted the church. His other writing on sexuality issues can be accessed at A Little Leaven. M.D. is married with four children and is an elder in his church.

There can be no doubt the rules of cultural engagement for Christians is changing rapidly - especially as we attempt to share our faith and live our lives. Just the mere mention of the Bible or the word "Christian" conjures up accusations of being an intolerant bigot, homophobe, and hater.
What do we do as Christian witnesses who are instructed to be salt and light in the world?
Today Mike and David take a comprehensive look at the controversy surrounding New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees who is being criticized from all angles over his recent support of the national campaign, "Bring Your Bible to School Day" (Oct. 3). Brees also responded to the criticism he received from cultural bullies and LGBTQ advocates as well as the Christian Community.

In segment 1, we have a discussion about what so-called Liberal Christianity is and how it is infecting a growing number of churches and denominations. We connect with author Dan Jensen. His excellent book is titled A False Kind of Christianity.
As we see more young people and leaders abandoning the Christian faith, it is important we assess their thought process and motives in doing so. (They are taking some followers with them and away from the truth.) To simply argue about whether or not they were ever truly converted believers can be unproductive.
The reality is that many younger people either want nothing to do with historical, Biblical Christianity or they are finding churches and denominations that are redefining and diluting Christian doctrines to line up with their worldly values and philosophies.

While deadly shootings and gang violence continue on the streets of Chicago every weekend, two horrendous mass shootings took place in Ohio and Texas. One man was apparently a radical right-winger and the other a Satanist, Democrat, and radical left-winger. Americans and the media seek answers, but continue to refuse to accept the plain truth: increased evil and lawlessness because the truth of God is being ignored and rejected.

There is no doubt we live in a sexually-charged society. While Southern Baptists comprise less than 10% of professing Christians in America, it has historically been a strongly evangelistic denomination, rejecting the Calvinistic view of predestination. Over the past decade or two however, the denomination has seen the rise of what are called the "New Calvinists," along with what many see as an infiltration of the Social Justice Movement. And in a few short weeks Southern Baptists will elect their new president, giving a strong indication of the direction of the denomination.
We are seeing similar theological battles brewing in virtually every denomination of Christianity and today we look at this particular controversy against the background of an increasingly divided Christian Church in America.

A major shakeup is taking place at Moody Bible Institute, one of the oldest and most prestigious Christian Universities in our nation. Moody's President and Chief Operations Officer have been fired as the Board of Directors has unanimously called for "new leadership." Is this new direction a move away from Moody's traditional conservative biblical theology or are they trying to address its liberal professors?
Some are claiming Moody, not unlike so many formerly reputable institutions, has strayed from the Word of God, so are they now moving to correct the problem? Moody radio host Julie Roys published an article claiming the University had not been vigilant in rooting out liberal professors and allowing officials to violate Moody's organizational bylaws "fostering an atmosphere of fear and intimidation." Roys was subsequently fired for her remarks with Moody calling them "misleading."

Although Donald Trump won the last presidential election, polls show that a major factor was the distrust and dislike of Hillary Clinton, and that if Senator Bernie Sanders had been the Democratic nominee, we might now be saying "President Sanders" instead of "President Trump." Bernie Sanders, an avowed socialist and proponent of classical Communism, could have easily become the president of the United States and ushered in with him a Congress who thinks the same way. Just twenty years ago an avowed Communist running for President would have been ignored and laughed off the stage. But according to recent polling of Democrat voters, Sanders is again their top choice to run against President Trump in 2020.
How can our young people and many in the Democrat Party ignore history and support the brutality of godless Communism over the model of our democratic Republic [under God] and capitalism? To answer that question, you start by looking at how history is taught in our public education system, and also how the professing Christian Church in America has given a platform to people like Jim Wallis, Tony Campolo, Shane Claiborne and others who profess to be Christians yet pervert the writings of God's Word to support their humanist agenda. Their teaching is blatant apostasy.
Tied to this modern Communist movement, which has been repackaged as "compassionate," are the increasing attacks on the religious freedoms of Christians in America. This morning, we focus on this unholy matrimony that is threatening our freedoms and prosperity as a nation. Due to our education system, many have fallen for the propaganda of rewritten American history. And under the guise of "social justice," many within the church have turned away from the gospel and truth of the Bible, seeking the ways of fallen man to find peace, prosperity, and unity.

The liberal, utopian mindset is an interesting thing. No matter the facts that might get in the way of their arguments, they charge forward convinced that they are the enlightened geniuses who have everything figured out. If for some reason stupid, backwards thinking conservatives would just get with the program and blindly follow them; then we could unite, solve the world's problems and achieve the utopian dream.
The basis of this is not necessarily liberalism; it is the belief in humanism: man's nature is good and if we just collectively become one, we can solve any problem and accomplish anything. (Does the Tower of Babel ring a bell?) Sadly, this same humanism is actually infecting the professing Christian Church--but we'll discuss that another day.
A cornerstone of the progressive movement toward a one world government is the alarmism and desperation we hear from the Left over climate change. Al Gore and others have made millions stirring up panic by claiming we are on the verge of world wide catastrophe if we don't stop using fossil fuels as energy. But is their theory based on scientific fact? Or is it just a scare tactic meant to manipulate and control people - and make them big money?
