Mary welcomes back Jay Seegert to talk about foundations, starting points, and worldviews. Communicating with the lost sometimes is reduced to arguing on social media, but that is reducing a pretty complex interaction to trying to out-talk and outlast people we don’t really know, about complex topics that the person probably already has strong opinions about. In the current social landscape, there must be a better way to reason with people and get to the heart of the matter. It’s not about facts that we can convincingly debate, it’s spiritual, and people already have their own preconceived ideas and emotional investments concerning God, and life and death. Is that landscape conducive to contending for the faith? Jay helps the listener understand that there is a way to stick with biblical “starting points” to seek to convince people that 1) God exists and 2) the Bible is His Word, and all the ramifications of that. Anything else is a false starter and rocky foundation.

On today’s edition of SUFTT, Mary takes a look at Psalm 73 as a much-needed answer to the wrestling we all do in the face of a world gone awry. Levite, prophet and worship leader Asaph, author of a dozen Psalms, takes us on a tour through his heart and mind over the seeming success of the rich and famous of his time. We wonder at times what he all struggled with, since we have all the knowledge of good and evil at our fingertips through global media. Nevertheless, he certainly had his share of wrestlings when it came to being distracted by those who had it all, and gave no thought to their own eternity. Why do people who know they will die at some point seem to not even care how it all ends? Asaph knew that God is good, and He has a covenant with Israel – but he still had lots of deep questions for His Maker. But has God ever taken away those who vex us with instant relief? No, the rich and carefree have been with us always, it is US who change after being with our God, in His house. A great lesson for us all who struggle with cultural issues and how to respond in our hearts with a life of contentment.

Dr. JB Hixson
Mary welcomes back JB Hixson to talk about the great and precious promises found throughout God’s Word. How many are there? How long do you have? A common number is about 8,000, more in the OT than in the NT. But some say, depending upon how you parse them out, that there could be as many as 30,000. Of course, if God doesn’t keep every single one, He is not Who He says He is. So, what can we conclude except, He is a God Who keeps them ALL. What does that mean for you and I? Well, from Genesis onward, since God promised to send a Saviour to fix our terminal sin problem, all of His promises are yea and amen. And the categories for said promises? Abundant life, a crown of life, a heavenly home, assurance, comfort, answers to prayer, deliverance, protection, the Spirit, power for service, resurrection, rest, wisdom, strength, victory….shall I go on? You get the idea. Such an important subject in a day and age when people do not keep their promises – but God.

Mary welcomes back Kyle and Flynn to talk about the nuances of how we process information – at the biblical level. Every day, we are processing probably more info than most people ever did in a lifetime in previous generations. We listen to preachers, podcasts, YouTubes, and we read volumes some days. Are we really listening critically? What about pre-texts and presumptions? We all bring with us various biases, experiences, flaws and flesh. But the Bible is unique, isn’t it? Don’t we want a firm foundation? Are we even concerned about said biases and preconceptions, in that they can cause a cracked foundation? We talk about all the ways that we can “watch our life and doctrine closely” so as not to ruin the hearers, but help them see the truth. A high calling indeed. Apologists, authors, podcasters – Kyle and Flynn are perfect for dissecting this subject and seeing what we can take away from how we hear, read, and process profound truth.

[Originally aired 7/18/25] Mary welcomes back Bible teacher, student and watchman Lee Brainard to discuss sensationalizing Bible prophecy, especially in the areas of politics and events in nature. Today, with biblical illiteracy at an all time high, it stands to reason that Christians have no meat on their bones when it comes to the systematic study of prophecy. Whereas formerly, the topics of prophecy were centered around Israel, a global government, a global spirituality and a world wide economy powered by technology, suddenly everything is prophetic, and it’s getting noisier out there. Time to bring things back into focus. And there are more blood moons coming, which means sensationalizing the heavens will also be rampant. Who is teaching this and why? We also discuss the New Wine Pentecost movement. What is it, is it biblical? Is it date setting at the core? Who is promoting it and why should we care? Sometimes following social media Bible prophecy sites more resembles a nursery rhyme than the truth. A cat, playing a fiddle, a cow and the moon makes more sense most days. And that dish that ran away with the spoon? Stay tuned.

In today’s installment of Stand Up, Tim and Mary take on a batch of headlines that point to the continuing global delusion of peace and unity. Every Christian should understand by now that what is going on in the Middle East was never about establishing a state, but destroying one. It is so obvious to so many and yet here we are, with the US and many other nations just deluding themselves around the clock. We discuss Tony Blair’s role in Gaza, a clear delusion. We talk about the disintegration of Portland and why it will never likely improve, but spread; we look at Communion America, a great delusion for the church; and Trump’s deal with Pfizer, delusion that began in 2020 and never really goes away. Why would he make a deal with such a corrupt and wicked corporation? And still another abortion pill goes to market. It just gets more wicked out there, but hallelujah, we have God’s Word: blessed is that one who doesn’t walk, stand, or sit with the wicked (Psalm 1) Homeward, saints!

Mary welcomes back Jameson Taylor of American Family Association to continue our focus this week on engaging the culture, for the common good. While the gatekeepers change, the rules of engagement do not: the Bible as the moral authority for every human who ever lived. Today we shine a light on some of the important issues. Speaking of the rulebook, we chat about Texas and Oklahoma’s reintroduction of the Bible into public education. Bold and likely to be framed as forcing our worldview on others, there is no forcing, considering we as believers have been enduring the worldly worldview our entire lives. It’s more of a skirmish in a much wider war. We discuss discourse in the face of marketplace vitriol from those who want to be self-ruled; Costco’s decision not to distribute the abortion pill; and some activity in the Wisconsin legislature. We can never be over-equipped in a world that still needs to figure out what a woman is.

Mary welcomes back Natasha Crain to talk culture – and define it in light of Jesus’ words in John 15:18. What do we mean when we say culture? And why would Jesus tell us they will hate us, unless they know what we believe? Natasha’s current book, “When Culture Hates You” is a clear and articulate look at a very timely subject as Christians find themselves more and more in the crosshairs of 2025 culture, which is different from 1958 culture, which might be varied in 2030, should the Lord tarry. What are the rules of engagement? Soup kitchens, alternative lifestyles, abortion? Who is to say what the rules are today in light of the killing of Charlie Kirk? Making sense of the hostility and moving about society armed with an understanding of the true nature of light vs dark is an important conversation today, and loving the people around us who do not know Jesus, how do we advocate for the common good? We talk about the gatekeepers in society and what it takes to be admitted – or shut out – of the public square.

Mary welcomes Ken Ham to the podcast to talk about 50 years of impact through Answers in Genesis. From the start of his life in Queensland, Australia, Ken was surrounded by parents and grandparents who modeled service and an uncompromising love for truth centered around God’s Word. Sometimes our testimony is a series of divinely orchestrated events that get us on the same page with God, other times it’s a pivotal moment. Either way, who can doubt that it’s miraculous, and Ken’s story truly is, from the beginning! From science teacher to AiG, God has had His purposes and plans for one of the most enduring and effective apologetics ministries of modern times. We talk about his youth in Australia, the birth of AiG, coming to American shores, and the Creation Museum project. We learn of experiences both high and low in engaging the culture and standing firm for truth that has made the AiG worldview so eternally effective. The book is “Miraculous! Mary welcomes guest Richie Furay for our first Testimony Tuesday, as we look at his full and storied life as a member of pioneering bands Buffalo Springfield and Poco. With all that success, what drove him to his knees? How does a person reconcile or intersect the unique life of the spotlight, in the definitive 1960s no less, with the calling of a pastor and troubadour for Jesus? When he returned to Ohio for his Hall of Fame induction, he had a moment of clarity, that those two lives, and all the craziness, were both him, and God was in every moment. Sometimes we have a hard time reconciling our “two lives” as believers, we run from who we were in shame. But God. We talk to him about the early years, the fame years, and the ministry years. Richie and Nancy have been married since 1967, and as the family has grown up, their seasoning and maturity in Christ has had an impact for eternity. Keeping up with his energy level is always a great way to spend an hour.

Today Mary continues what she started back on July 24, looking long and hard at anxiety and the plague of worry that has many Americans – and a considerable number of believers – tied up in knots. Oftentimes, unfairly, we simply throw a Bible verse at a person who is living in a pattern of anxiety, as if that is an instant cure. And, technically, it is – but there is something about the hole of anxiety that seems to require some critical thinking, AND doing, to get free. Anxiety, and it’s offspring, depression, (Proverbs 12:25) are not what God has for us, and so if we do find ourselves in such a season, there is no reason to founder and get sidetracked, or worse yet, shipwrecked. There are several practical things we can do and there IS a way forward. We look at psychology, an opposing worldview that offers no hope, and we talk about all the ways that anxiety wants to get hold and linger, even through spiritual warfare. Our enemy does not play fair. So, we will stare this down together and come away with tools to help, including getting past being our own worst enemy from time to time. Overcomers, we are.

Mary welcomes back Don Veinot to talk about taming Jesus to fit a progressive worldview, false representations of Christian and Christianity, and what fills that void every human has. For the last few decades especially, the progressive left has not only sought to dominate the American political landscape, but has infiltrated the church – purposefully and methodically. From Red Letter Christians to Social Justice warriors, the church has been leaning left on a large scale. The church has been duped into rethinking gay rights, social causes and immigration; Israel is no longer the apple of God’s eye and that piece of land is now home to apartheid and genocidal Jews. How did we get here, and what are the dangers of such an unbiblical worldview? Does it impact our eternity? Yes, and people are making eternal choices over temporal issues, misrepresenting Jesus and His ministry. A thoughtful hour on the Jesus of the Left. Don Veinot and his wife Joy are co-founder and president of Midwest Christian Outreach, Inc. (MCOI), a mission to cults and non-Christian religions based in Wonder Lake, IL. They have studied numerous cults and new religious movements impacting the church since 1987. Don is a frequent guest on numerous radio and television broadcasts including The John Ankerberg Show as well as being a staff researcher and writer for the Midwest Christian Outreach Journal. Additionally, Don is co-author of the book A Matter of Basic Principles: Bill Gothard and His Cultish Teachings, as well as various research articles in the CRI Journal, PFO Quarterly Journal, Campus Life Magazine, Journal of the International Society of Christian Apologetics, Midwestern Journal of Theology, and other periodicals.

Mary welcomes back Carl Kerby, creationist and apologist at Reasons for Hope Ministry where equipping a new generation to boldly defend truth is the priority. Today we chat with Carl on two separate topics: “Appreciation or Expectation?”, and the one-letter difference between a “Word” view and a “World” view. What are the main things that separate the two approaches – Word and World (besides one lonely letter!) – for our understanding of life? Well, creation for one, which really does establish the ground work for all we believe. Is it chance or design? Other things that separate us from the world are how we value life, our moral base, our identity and our destiny. We also take a look at the difference between “appreciation” and “expectation”. One exists in the here-and-now; the other exists in the unknown future and can be a true relationship killer when we presume what we deserve. The opposite of appreciation is insensitivity, disrespect, callousness, and disapproval. If you have ever had a parent who was never satisfied, or a boss who took credit for everything, you know how it feels to be unappreciated, invisible, and devalued. What does the Bible say? All this and more from Carl Kerby, co-creator of “DeBunk’d” videos, “Weapons of Mass Instruction”, “Fast Facts” and much more. Their YouTube presence can be found here.

Mary welcomes Rob Yardley to the podcast, Rob is a true servant in the church with the heart of a pastor and theologian. Rob has served on several boards of note and continues to do so – from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa to ICR to Thru the Bible with J Vernon McGee. His new role as Executive Director of The Berean Call is one that is dear to his heart because of his friendship with the late Dave Hunt, and of course T.A. McMahon, who has recently retired. When putting godly men like Dave Hunt, TA, Henry Morris, and J Vernon side by side we get a picture of 20th century men that God greatly used. We will look at the legacies of each one, and talk about what it means to be a Berean in 2025. Where are today’s great apologists and theologians? A thoughtful hour with a thoughtful brother.

Mary welcomes new guest Todd Hampson as we discuss the building blocks of Bible prophecy. Undertaking a systematic study of such a broad subject can be daunting, unless a few things are kept in mind, which will in turn make everything fall into place! Definitions, definitions, definitions! What is amillennialism? What is the church age? Why is the pre-trib rapture the most solid from a biblical standpoint – types and pictures are found in the Scriptures. What was Jesus saying to the 7 churches? If we interpret prophecy from a futurist perspective, it really weaves together beautifully, but if the approach is one of past fulfillment of Revelation, we hit numerous snags that proponents of these alt views never seem to be able to resolve. A great primer on the basics this morning. Todd is a speaker, illustrator, animation producer, and the author of The Non-Prophet’s Guide™ book series. He is also a co-host on the Prophecy Pros Podcast alongside Jeff Kinley. Todd’s award-winning animation company, Timbuktoons, has produced content for many well-known ministry organizations. Mary welcomes back David Bowen to talk about the Road to Emmaus, that beautiful account that took place the afternoon of Resurrection Sunday. There are 89 verses about Holy Week in the Gospels, nearly a third. It’s almost as though everything else in the gospels is merely an introduction to the main event! We will look at those 2 disciples, returning home after a grueling week in Jerusalem of crowds and events – Passover, the trial of Jesus, the crucifixion, the resurrection. What to make of it all? What a weekend – and now they are processing as they walk along. Then a stranger joins them, and asks why they are cast down and sad as they walk, and they respond incredulously – where were You when all this took place? Are you unaware of what has all transpired? And without recognizing their Saviour, they are treated to the most incredible Bible study ever, from the Master Himself. Wouldn’t it have been incredible to be a part of that? Then we go back in time a bit and discuss Palm Sunday, and the most amazing prophecy of all – Daniel 9. Finally, we look at why Jesus had to be crucified instead of stoned. Mary welcomes back Mike Gendron today to discuss Catholicism and this vast mission field of over 1 billion souls. If you have been raised in that tradition and come to true faith, you know how difficult it is to evangelize them. Why is this? The average Catholic has one string on their guitar: “I’m basically a good person.” By whose standard? And by putting their faith in this one basket, how can we as believers help them see that being wrong about this, about salvation, is to be wrong forever? Mike helps us sort out how to lovingly, compassionately share the truth with Catholics and get their nose in the Scripture. Also discussed: the Pope, FOX News and it’s chronic Catholic cheerleading, and the canonization of a teenager who died in 2006. What is it that makes this sort of religiosity palatable to today’s religious cynic? A full hour with Mike that will challenge and confirm the importance of the faith once delivered to the (real) saints of the Most High.

From Stand Up For The Truth research team:
Here are some areas where the Catholic Catechism is often seen as departing from a purely biblical foundation:
1. Authority of Tradition & the Magisterium Catechism (CCC 80-82, 85): Catholicism teaches that divine revelation comes from both Scripture and Tradition, and that the Church’s Magisterium (Pope and bishops) has the authority to interpret both. * Biblical Challenge*: Protestants argue that the Bible alone is the final authority (2 Timothy 3:16-17; Matthew 15:3-9) and reject extra-biblical traditions as authoritative.
2. The Role of Mary Catechism (CCC 491, 494, 966, 971, 2677): Catholicism teaches that Mary was immaculately conceived (without sin), remained perpetually a virgin, was assumed bodily into heaven, and can intercede for believers. * Biblical Challenge*: The Bible states that “all have sinned” (Romans 3:23), never explicitly teaches Mary’s perpetual virginity (Matthew 1:24-25), and does not mention her bodily assumption. Additionally, Christ is the only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5).
3. Salvation by Grace & Works Catechism (CCC 1987-2029): Catholic doctrine teaches that salvation is initially by grace but involves cooperation with God through faith, works, and the sacraments. * Biblical Challenge*: Many Protestants cite Ephesians 2:8-9, which states salvation is “by grace… through faith, not by works.” Romans 4:5 and Galatians 2:16 emphasize justification apart from the law.
4. The Sacraments as Necessary for Salvation Catechism (CCC 1129, 1257): The Catholic Church teaches that the sacraments (such as baptism and the Eucharist) are necessary for salvation. * Biblical Challenge*: While baptism and communion are important, the Bible presents salvation as a matter of faith in Christ (John 3:16; Acts 16:31). The thief on the cross was saved without sacraments (Luke 23:42-43).
5. Purgatory & Prayers for the Dead Catechism (CCC 1030-1032, 1472): Catholicism teaches that purgatory is a place of purification before entering heaven and that prayers for the dead can help souls be freed from temporal punishment. * Biblical Challenge*: The Bible does not explicitly teach purgatory. Hebrews 9:27 states that after death comes judgment, with no mention of an intermediate purification. Christ’s sacrifice is sufficient (John 19:30, Hebrews 10:14).
6. The Papacy & Apostolic Succession Catechism (CCC 882, 936-937): The Pope is seen as the successor of Peter and the supreme authority over the Church. * Biblical Challenge*: While Peter was a leader, the Bible does not establish a single, infallible ruler over the Church (Matthew 23:8-10). Christ is the true head (Colossians 1:18), and leadership is shared among elders (1 Peter 5:1-3).
7. The Eucharist (Transubstantiation) Catechism (CCC 1374-1377): Catholicism teaches that during the Mass, the bread and wine become the literal body and blood of Christ. * Biblical Challenge*: Jesus spoke metaphorically about being the bread of life (John 6:35), and at the Last Supper, He often used figurative language (Luke 22:19-20). Many believe the Lord’s Supper is symbolic (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).
These points are the main areas where the Catechism is often challenged by those who adhere strictly to the Bible.

He is an internationally known speaker on antisemitism. He holds a BA from Moody Bible Institute and a masters from Dallas Theological Seminary. He has been equipping believers to understand and fight antisemitism since 2000, and has written 5 books on the topic and contributed over 600 articles to print and digital media. Christians who encounter Jews in their course of life often have no idea how to present Jesus, their and our Messiah, to them in a way that cuts through the preconceived ideas both sides have. So let’s ask some questions: Why do the Jews struggle with the deity of Jesus? Why don’t they say the name of God? Who exactly is a Jew, is it an ethnicity or a faith? PASTOR CLAUDE STAUFFER
Mary chats with Pastor Claude Stauffer of Calvary Chapel Amityville, New York. He has written many books that are commentaries of the books he has taught over the years. They are highly recommended resources for the student of the Bible. In this edition of Stand Up, we get to the nuts and bolts of our bright future with the Lord – eternity. We discuss what it is, who goes there, and what happens after the Tribulation period. What is the timeline for the resurrections of the dead? The Millennium? The New Heavens and New Earth, and why there needs to be such things? Many Americans really don’t know what is coming on the earth, and even those who claim to be Christians often have bad information on what happens when we die and who goes to heaven or hell – and whether such places even exist! Are our dead relatives watching over us? Today’s podcast is a bit of a myth-busters hour – and knowing what we believe about eternal things is very important.

[Original airdate: 4/26/24] Mary welcomes back Chris Quintana live in studio to talk about a particularly troubling pulpit “curriculum” that teaches that the answer to spiritual maturity issues in the churches is “emotionally healthy spirituality”. Who is the author of this program, and what are his beliefs? Is it something churches can benefit from or should they run for their “spiritual” lives? We address recent concerns on it. Also, we talk to Chris about the antisemitism on campuses that shows no sign of letting up, and how authorities seem to be clueless on how to stem the tide of hate. There is no other group or culture that the tolerant left would allow to be shown such rancour – except Christians, of course. Are these evil mobs really terrorists at heart? Also, in Ezekiel we look at the “peace and safety” clause of the timing of the Gog and Magog war. Mary chats with pastor, author and evangelist David Bowen of Lamb and Lion Ministries about the challenges to the church in these times. Does the church at large believe we are in the last days? There are many unbelievers that sense things are spiraling downward, without a prophetic book or star to guide them into that opinion. But the church? Who is teaching prophecy, providing understanding and a firm foundation in eschatology, that we can pass along some answers to the unchurched? Some of the other challenges the church faces are liberal theology, sorting out Israel, biblical illiteracy. Pastor David will help us sort out the need for hope and understanding – and keeping up – with so much that vies for our attention. His articles can also be found on Harbingers Daily.

Mary welcomes back Chris Quintana live in studio to talk about a particularly troubling pulpit “curriculum” that teaches that the answer to spiritual maturity issues in the churches is “emotionally healthy spirituality”. You can find Chris online here; you can also subscribe to his YouTube channel and stay current on all his bible studies. No video podcast will be available for today’s show.

[Original airdate: 8/31/23] Wisconsin Author Kitty Foth-Regner talks to Mary about her long road to faith in a God she didn’t believe in in her youth. Systematically and honestly, Kitty took the “come let us reason together” path and found out that God is indeed a “rewarder of those who diligently seek Him’. (Hebrews 11:6). During her counterculture youth, anything-but-Christianity was the spirit of the age and yet, God does not hide Himself regardless of what we choose to fill our lives with. Her crossroads came with the passing of her mother, a devout believer deeply loved by her daughter – who became driven by a heart that couldn’t live with the idea she might never see her again. Her book, “Heaven Without Her” chronicles a true apologetics path that led her to her own moment of truth. Hers is a testimony of great grace and also a testimony to the God who knew us from the foundation of the world.

Juan Valdes (sorry we spelled his last name wrong in the past) of Reasons for Hope ministry joins Mary to discuss the importance of understanding the difference between “what to think” and “how to think”. There is absolute truth, it is not subjective nor does it change with emotions or fads, because it originates from a God who never changes. Every single day we are told what is “truth” and how to think about endless minutiae. But if we learn HOW to think, it becomes much easier to have a firm foundation to stand upon instead of the shifting sands of the culture. We start to be more discerning and sure of what we believe. Today’s guest will help us to get the rust and cobwebs out of minds that take in endless questionable sound bytes of culture and look to the Author and Finisher of our faith for our sole source of truth. A worthy challenge for us all.

(Replay from January 9, 2019) Mike LeMay & David Fiorazo continue discussing how that which calls itself “Christianity” in America is becoming anything but biblical Christianity more and more. We look at a Lip Sync event at Luther Seminary in Minnesota to show just how far off the rails one denomination has fallen. We also look at a recent statement by the National Evangelical Association supporting the LGBTQ movement in its special rights under the guise of “equality.”
In our first segment, we talk with Art Ally of The Timothy Plan to discuss biblical generosity and how the money Christians invest in corporations and stocks is being used to either glorify God or support those who oppose biblical Christian values.

Play EpisodeRepeat broadcast featuring former hosts Mike LeMay & David Fiorazo: 2019 will bring powerful and unique challenges and opportunities for the Christian Church in America. Satan’s battle against the Church will intensify as he acquires more and more allies to join him in his plan to neutralize the Church by making it look more like the secular culture it is supposed to resist and oppose.
We start this new year by looking at the prophetic signs of 2018 that might be pointing to the return of the Lord, along with the increased persecution of true believers around the world. Is this persecution a preview of the life coming for true believers in America?
Mike’s Opening Thoughts Transcript: Stand Up For the Truth 2019
As we start a new year, our ninth year broadcasting Stand Up For the Truth, I want to give you an idea on an area we will be focusing on heavily in 2019.
We will continue to look at national and world news that affects Christians, but it is clear what is happening in the world. The hatred of Jesus and His Word is increasing dramatically and Paul’s warnings in Romans 1 of God turning people over to a reprobate mind because they rejected His truth seems to be happening with greater frequency.
The persecution of Jesus’ true church is accelerating around the world. China, India, Iran and Russia are sending clear warnings to Christians that their allegiance better be to government and not God. In India, dominated by the Hindu religion which has always been seen and promoted as a non-violent religion, radical Hindus have went on a killing spree bent on destroying Christian churches in India.
Politically the intense battle between Globalists bent on world government, and Nationalists who believe individual nations should be able to enforce their own borders and laws, is raging throughout Europe and America. And make no mistake Globalism is the vehicle through which a one-world government will one day be ushered in, just as the Bible warns.
We will continue to report and bring perspective on these and other issues, pointing us to the Bible to determine truth and understand the spiritual ramifications of what is going on.
But we are also going to take a more in-depth look at what is happening to Christianity here in America within our own churches. I am convinced there is a great schism going on in virtually every Christian denomination; a schism we haven’t seen the likes of since Luther’s Protestant Reformation. Once you get beyond the denominational quirks and peculiarities, we see something much more important happening: there is a spiritual war going on for the very soul of Christianity in America.
When we look at the condition of Christian Churches in Communist China, I believe we see the future model of churches here in America. The day is coming when the Supreme Court will uphold a government request to bring churches and Christian organizations more under government control. When this happens, everything will change for Christian Churches in America and I believe we will see the “China Model” come to fruition in America where there will be state-endorsed Christian Churches that surrender to Caesar instead of submitting to God, effectively rendering them useless in proclaiming the gospel and truth of God’s Word. Some churches who choose to remain faithful to God’s Word will slowly be driven underground.
I believe professing Christian Churches in America can be roughly divided into three camps presently:
We are seeing an increasing number of churches compromising with secular culture. The Church Growth movement ushered in by Peter Drucker via Bill Hybels and Rick Warren seems to have become the gold standard by which many churches gauge success these days. Rather than opposing secular culture and its growing sinfulness many churches who buy into the Church Growth movement seem to be embracing secular culture in their methods and teaching.
Americans who want more and more things of this world are finding an ally in the Prosperity Preaching movement, where we are told we can have all the things of this world as long as we have just enough Jesus to be saved.
A strange blend of Christian teachings and New Age philosophy is infiltrating an increasing number of churches. Yoga and Transcendental Meditation, hallmarks of Buddhist and Hindu teachings, have established a foothold in a growing number of churches, creating spiritual confusion.
Recent studies over the past year that we will cover in the coming weeks show an alarming rate of ignorance about God and the Bible within professing Christian circles. Only one in three people who call themselves “born-again believers” now think the Word of God is absolute truth, and experts predict that only 4% of our youth will ever become truly born-again believers. So the future leadership of our church and nation are in peril.
We have seen increased pressure from government, education and media to dismantle Christianity in America. To date, these efforts have often been more subtle, but they will intensify in the coming few years and the pressure on Christian churches will become increasingly intense. What we faced here in DePere, Wisconsin, is but the first shot over the bow aimed at silencing biblical Christian Churches, and Satan has only begun his efforts. He has government, media, education and public opinion on his side as true biblical Churches face increasing pressure to cave in or be marginalized.
Church leaders will be forced to make a decision that will have eternal spiritual consequences for their members: Will they remain faithful to God and His Word or cave in to pressure for growth and acceptance, surrendering to secular culture?
SCRIPTURESNow we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, 2 that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. 3 Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4

Change is sometimes abrupt and immediate, but more often it is comprised of a slow erosion over time as little by little truth is replaced with opinions and emotions. The serious decline of Christianity in America is the result of decades of subtle changes in what has been and is currently being taught in public education, what is presented in media, and from pulpits that often seem more interested in placating culture instead of speaking God's truth and shining the light of Christ truth into it.

As we see more young people and leaders abandoning the Christian faith, it is important we assess their thought process and motives in doing so. (They are taking some followers with them and away from the truth.) To simply argue about whether or not they were ever truly converted believers can be unproductive.
The reality is that many younger people either want nothing to do with historical, Biblical Christianity or they are finding churches and denominations that are redefining and diluting Christian doctrines to line up with their worldly values and philosophies.
In our final segment today Mike and David share a thought-provoking perspective from John Stonestreet of BreakPoint about why this is happening and how we might address it.

If you listen to atheists, secularists and even some who claim to be Christians, you might think the Bible is nothing more than a bunch of man-made stories, full of confusion and contradictions. But in reality, it is the only thing we can look to for lasting truth. God - who has always existed and always will exist, knows all things past, present and future, and is the only one who can speak absolute truth. But even within many self-professed born-again believers there is doubt over the truth of the Bible.

The dictionary defines an assumption as, "assuming something is true or taking a statement for granted." When we believe something important is truth, and base our life and entire belief system around it only to find out the assumption was wrong, it changes the way we see everything. Sadly, too often in public education and media we are being led to assume certain false beliefs and philosophies are true, and this deception affects how we view God and life itself.
Our guest today is David Richardson, author of "Transparent: How to See Through the Powerful Assumptions that Control You." We discuss three types of "assumers" and how their assumptions either lead them to truth or deception.

Genesis 6:1-4 are very controversial verses to many Christians. They deal with a group called the "Nephilim" and they have been the center of controversy and various biblical interpretations for thousands of years.
Tim Chaffey has written a new book on these fascinating creatures, attempting to answer many questions Christians have about the Nephilim. Were they fallen angels or simply sinful men? What did they do and why? And if they are fallen angels have we heard the last from them?

The Bible tells us the one thing that should distinguish God's people from the world is our love of Him and one another. We are taught to not only love one another as Christians, but to forgive our enemies, pray for them, and never respond to hatred with hatred. We are to be a unique and holy people, separate from the ways and teachings of this world.
But that is not what Satan and this world wants. It is taunting us, hoping to provoke us toward anger and hatred, so they can say that we Christians are just as bad as them. Once the light of the world is neutralized what is to stop the world's march toward evil?
John Loeffler of Steel on Steel radio joins Mike LeMay and Crash Connell this morning to discuss how we are being conditioned to hate rather than love, and how we can avoid this trap.

The only way to dismantle lies is to respectfully confront them with truth. We try doing this on our radio program when it comes to lies not only in our culture but sadly, within churches in America. Our guest is a professional 'lie-debunker' and travels around the world sharing the hope of Jesus Christ with people deceived by the clever deception of the enemy.
Today's guest is Carl Kerby of Reasons for Hope Ministry! He's back to talk about their video series titled "debunked" and the impact it is having in spreading the truth, love and grace of the gospel.

As American Christianity generally bends over backwards to be seen as "loving" to the world, we have seen secular culture extend its influence within the church. From the social justice movement to the powerful LGBTQ lobby, we see more and more churches accommodating things of this world directly contradictory to the Bible. And now, with another presidential election on the horizon we are seeing an enhanced push for the church to embrace something that is directly opposed to the Bible: Marxist Socialism.
Mike and David look at the growth of socialist ideals within professing Christianity and why this is ominous and dangerous to the church.

In what we call the Great Commission, Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples and teach them everything He commanded. Doctrine ('doctrina,' Lat.) simply means "teaching." In Acts chapter 2, the foundation of the early church was the teaching of those apostles. Without a solid foundation of accurate biblical doctrine, a church becomes nothing more than a social club.
But doctrine has almost become a bad word in a growing number of churches, as if doctrine is automatically "divisive" and "unloving." In reality, biblical doctrine is the foundation for Christian unity and love. Pastor Randy White joins Mike and David to discuss the importance of teaching sound biblical doctrine.

In Matthew 12:38, the scribes and Pharisees asked Jesus for "another sign" not long after he had healed the sick and a demon-possessed man who was also blind. Jesus responded:"An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign but none will be given except the sign of the prophet Jonah"That "sign" was when Jesus would rise from the grave to prove His deity and God's power over sin and death. Many Christians and churches today are continually seeking more signs and wonders. Let's be clear: some are sincere believers in Christ, but their continual need for additional signs and miracles testifies to the weakness of their faith in the completed work of Jesus on the cross. God's Word tells us that Jesus has overcome the world on our behalf...so why do we still struggle with life's challenges and disappointments? Anyone can say they're a Christian. If you ask most Americans, including our politicians, they will probably say they "believe" in Jesus. But if we don't take the time to ask them exactly what they think about Jesus or who they believe He is, we can't possibly know for certain if they are converts or counterfeits. Progressive "Christians" claim they are doing the work Jesus commanded us to do. The only problem is they are teaching and promoting the exact opposite of what Jesus taught, especially on major biblical issues. When we assume a person is a Christian just because they say so, we are easily deceived.Speaking of assumptions, we welcome a new guest to Stand Up For the Truth, Dave Richardson. Two facts are indisputable these days. First, the world is growing more evil. Darkness is increasing and God's Word is being openly mocked and ridiculed. A deadly fall down a mountain usually begins with a single careless step. And once we take that wrong step, the fall can be swift and lead to serious injury or death. The most difficult decisions in life come when there is ambiguity and confusion and we are not quite sure of the effects of our beliefs and decisions. Over the eight years on this show, we have covered a lot of news and trends in society as well as within the church. One of our primary focuses has been to expose the darkness and draw a clear picture of a world growing more and more evil. The vast majority of our public institutions have sold out to Satan’s agenda of globalism under the rule of his puppet, Anti-Christ. In just the past three years we have witnessed new levels of evil being called good by Hollywood, the media, public education, the courts, and the government:Homosexual marriage legalized by the Supreme CourtChristian business owners and individuals denied their freedom of religious expressionThe rapid advancement of gender confusion and dysphoriaThe celebration of (legal) infanticideSo what are Christians to do? Get back to the basics of our faith in Christ, and don't be surprised. The Word of God tells us that in the latter days evil would become the norm in our society. God also tells us that one called “Anti-Christ” will rise to power and deceive many into thinking he is actually the savior of this world. But before Anti-Christ is revealed something very important and tragic happens: there is a great apostasy within the professing Christian Church. (2 Thessalonians)We will continue to point out the growing evil of this world as it marches to worshiping Satan through Anti-Christ one day soon. We will equip you with how to disarm and confront the growing deception of this world and its institutions. But we will also focus more on this growing apostasy within the professing church that the Bible says many professing Christians will fall for. There is a growing schism going on in within Christianity in America. It has been slow and subtle, but it is reaching the point where serious disciples of Jesus Christ are starting to take notice. This schism is centered around two important points:
Is the Christian walk about salvation, or holiness?
The Church's relationship with the world.
Jesus warned that many who called Him "lord" would be condemned to eternal hell. Jesus and the Apostles warned that a great apostasy would infect the professing church in the days leading up to the Lord's return. The Bible is clear that evil would grow exponentially in the final days and that Christians are to be a unique, holy people set aside for the glory of God. This means the true Church of Jesus Christ should be increasingly contradictory to the teachings and behaviors of this wicked world. Instead, some churches are intent on looking more like the world.
Mike and Crash discuss this great schism and how Christians who are serious about pursuing holy living can determine if they are in a church that is increasingly unique, or one that is conforming to the world.

A lot of Christians read quick, daily devotionals as part of their routine. The concern is in some cases it has replaced reading and studying God’s Word in depth as we become busier and busier and are looking for that “quick fix” instead of a deep, intensive Bible study.
That is certainly not to say that all devotional studies are bad or wrong; but a devotional written by man will often have the slant or perspective of the writer and may or may not accurately reflect God’s message or context on the subject. The best devotional study we can do is one directly from the Bible itself since it is inspired by God and eternal truth.
Pastor Jeff Solwold of Calvary Chapel in Madison joins us the good and bad of daily devotionals for Christians and how to use God’s Word to gain the wisdom and insight we need to navigate life in these challenging times. What people need now is more clarity and less confusion. Media, government and public education continue to push an agenda clouded in moral relativism, appealing to our desires and emotions but short on facts and reality. A political example would be the “New Green Deal” being advanced by Democratic presidential candidates. It sounds wonderful, but it glosses over the potential destruction it could bring to our economy and government infringement on our way of life.
What we all need is more clarity and less confusion. For Christians, we need church leaders who are clear about the Word and doctrines of God, leaders who stand strong against the deception of the enemy. But instead of clarity we seem to be getting neutrality, silence, or double speak from too many Christian leaders in America.

Mike and David look at a challenging article by Shane Idelman admonishing the Church to start living and acting like the Church instead of caving to the pressure and beliefs of secular society. And — breaking news — in case you haven’t heard:
The church is not a building or a denomination… You and I as believers are the Church!
The sad reality is that Jesus warned that many who think they are saved and going to heaven are instead headed to eternal hell. Paul tells us to continually test ourselves to prove that we are truly in the faith and have not fooled ourselves. The committed follower of Jesus Christ is willing to do this on a continual basis; the professing Christian who has fooled themselves never thinks twice about it. They have been lulled into a false sense of eternal security by the father of lies and a professing “church” that is afraid to offend people by teaching about sin, repentance and the pursuit of holiness. Together today we will examine ourselves.
In our first segment, we talk Biblical apologetics with Aaron Marshall of Ratio Christi Ministries.

TODAY'S QUESTIONS
Should Christian church leaders hold their members accountable for unbiblical beliefs about creation, abortion, and same-sex "marriage"?
It is a sad day when our president stands up for the unborn, but so many preachers sit back and say nothing.
We have a responsibility to speak into another Christian's life about biblical truth, but need to remember the Holy Spirit does the convicting, not us.
When turtle eggs are protected classes but babies are murdered in the womb, the end must be near.
Why don't more Christians and Americans see the signs of the times and what is coming?
Persecution of Christians in the U.S. is imminent so why not start more home churches before it gets worse?
The National Association of Evangelicals has become a shill for social justice advocates.
Is the damage done to our nation by liberal ideology so destructive it is irreparable?

The Church either affects secular culture (salt and light) or it is influenced by it. The former is part of the Great Commission; the latter is leading to confusion that will lead many into a false sense of salvation. The Christian Church should be a spiritual bulwark to stand in opposition to the murder of children and the societal confusion surrounding marriage, sexuality and gender. Instead a growing number of pastors and churches choose silence for fear of being seen as judgmental or unloving. In the meantime, our silence from the pulpit has ushered in a sad transformation in the opinions of professing believers on abortion and same-sex marriage, with more than half approving of them.
In our third segment, we share an article by Shane Idelman challenging pastors to speak boldly from the pulpit in addressing the increasing sin and depravity of American culture. In segment two, we discuss the growing sex and racism scandals involving Virginia Democrats, and the double standards of the media and the court of public opinion.
In our first segment we are joined by Julaine Appling of Wisconsin Family Council to highlight some key points from President Trump's State of the Union address, including his bold challenge to Congress to pass legislation banning partial birth abortion.

The abandonment of God's Word and principles by Christian leaders in America continues to kick into increase with each passing year. Willow Creek's Global Leadership Summit keeps bringing in speakers who defy God's Word and Law, elevating them (secular progressives) as leaders that Christians should emulate. And now, the National Association of Evangelicals invites House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to speak to Christian College professors about the need for Evangelicals to support her fight against legal immigration policies and common sense.
This is the same Nancy Pelosi who at every opportunity supports legislation leading to more abortions, and a professing Catholic that is allowed to remain a Catholic in good standing in spite of her support of infanticide. Has the leadership of American Christianity completely sold the "church" out by compromising with and embracing an anti-biblical world view?
In our first segment, Mike and David talk about Christianity and athletics with our guest Kellen Cox of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. And in segments two and three, we tackle compromising denominations and church organizations.

In 1 Peter, Christians are called to be a holy people, set aside by God to be light in the darkness of this world. Our joy, attitude and behaviors should be so distinct from the ways of this world that people cannot help but notice that we are a unique, yes perhaps even a strange people.
But increasing studies show that there is little to distinguish many professing Christians from this world. From our attitudes to our behaviors we often seem anything but a unique and holy people. As the world grows more confusing and full of contradiction how can we as disciples of Jesus stand out all the more, pointing people to the eternal hope we have?
Dave Wager of Nicolet Bible Institute and Silver Birch Ranch joins us to discuss the calling and challenge of living like a unique, holy people set aside for the glory of God.

Mike and David look at a joint statement from Evangelical and Catholic leaders condemning New York's expanded abortion law. But is making a strong statement enough if it is not backed up by righteous action? Instead of merely condemning the actions of New York legislators, should churches start to hold church members accountable if they approve of abortion or continue to support political candidates that endorse the slaughter of innocent children in the womb? Should church discipline be used to make a strong statement to church members about this crucial biblical issue?
In our first two segments, we look at sexuality, gender and marriage according to God's Word. No surprise that polls show a majority of people in our nation who call themselves Christians approve of homosexual marriage, and an increasing number actually believe that a person's gender could be "fluid," insinuating that perhaps God made mistakes - if He in fact did create us. Pastor Randy White joins us to bring us back to the fundamentals of God's Word regarding sexuality, gender, marriage and family.

In Mike's latest book, "American Christianity's Slide Toward Apostasy: What We Must Do Before It's Too Late", he details Satan's five step plan to bring forth persecution to Bible-believing Christians in America. Spoiler alert: Satan has already accomplished four of the five steps, and step five is knocking at our doors!
We can see how this unfolds when looking at Communist China, where there is a state-sponsored Christianity that is forced to worship government instead of God, and an underground church that is being persecuted frantically. This morning, Mike and Crash contrast two stories from China: The Vatican selling out to Communist government officials and secondly, an underground Christian Church pastor whose home was just ransacked with him being hauled away to prison.
And we continue to look at how Christianity in America is being set up for a similar crossroad. Which churches or denominations will sell out to government and submit to it, and which will be driven underground and persecuted?

Mike and David read your questions and comments, but open with a commentary on the disgusting actions of the State of New York that will kill more babies and American Christianity's collective cowardice in standing up for the lives of unborn children.
When "The State" thumbs its nose at God and proudly passes a law that will murder more children created in the image of God, and American Christianity Churches continue in their ringing silence and failure to stand up for those children, is the "church" becoming part of the problem rather than the solution?
