Hey we're Jordyn and Mary and we decided to leave our home of Washington and travel together. This podcast is essentially exactly what the title says: life as it happens. As life happens we want to capture it and retell it within this podcast. Whether it's telling stories of our day or sharing the latest deep thought we had, we want to be real about life and where we're at. We want you to be a part of our life as it happens.

In this lengthy episode, we talk about a range of topics from our flea infestation, Jordyn being pummeled against rocks in the ocean, getting back to living as we were created to, Mary's recent revelation of why "being nice" is not our highest calling, and the concept of viewing work as a contribution rather than careerism.
Since moving to Hawaii, we have both felt the weirdness of moving to a new place and feeling out of place. We talk about how we're slowly finding our footing and what has made us feel more ourselves and more at home. From going to the gym, to meeting our neighbors, to going surfing, and getting a set work schedule, we talk about how these little pieces of life are helping us work through the weirdness and find a place here in Kona. We also talk about our future plans, from Jordyn potentially going to film school and Mary working on a farm with YWAM.
In this episode, we describe the mixed emotions and feelings we've been having. Life feels like a video game. Everyday we wake up and we feel like we're trying to level up only to fail and have to start over the next day. But we also talk about how God has been providing and answering prayers even in the midst of our uncertainty and weird feelings. We have no idea what we're doing here, but as it says in the Lord of the Rings quote we bring up, all we know is that we must keep going.
Today we discuss the surmounting pressure we feel to find housing, a car, and a job. Time seems to be running out. We only have two more weeks left at the apartment we're staying at rent free. After that... we're not really sure what will happen. We talk about our desire to live a simple, rent free life out of a car or van and the frustrations of how complicated modern life seems to be. Will we be able to find housing in Kona? If not, will we have to move to a different island?
In the last episode, we left you guys on a little bit of a cliff hanger. We had four hours to figure out where we were going to stay that night before we had to leave the missions base we were at. In this episode, we update you on whether we were able to find somewhere and what our current living situation looks like here in Kona, Hawaii. We also reflect on an interesting detail of this past week: everyone that has made us feel safe have been men we didn't know and everyone that has made us feel on our guard were women. We unpack why this detail has been redeeming for our outlook on men and why real men are so necessary to women and the world. We also talk about what it looks like to be a woman as she was created to be. What attributes of God to women represent? How does this correlate to what women offer the world? Can men be men as they were created to be and women be women as they were created to be without each other? We tackle all of this and more.
In our first ever episode, we retell the details of our journey moving to Hawaii and everything that went down within the first two days. From our Workaway host that became super controlling, the construction workers the helped us escape, and the Irish guys that had our back, there are a lot of interesting and amazing characters and less than ideal circumstances that make this story so good.
