In this powerful sermon by Glenn Bleakney, we dive deep into the biblical concept of supernatural restoration and what it means for those experiencing loss and setbacks in their lives. Drawing from the profound teachings in Joel 2:23-25, we explore how God's restoration goes beyond merely recovering what was lost - it's about receiving something greater. We'll unpack the Hebrew concept of "Sha-Lamb" and its three powerful meanings: restoring what was lost, completing what was started, and making whole what was broken.

Through compelling biblical examples like Joseph's dramatic rise from prison to prime minister, Job's double portion after devastating loss, and the Shunammite woman's unexpected property restoration, we'll discover how God can compress time, multiply impact, and accelerate breakthrough in ways that defy natural limitations. Whether you're facing financial setbacks, broken relationships, or delayed dreams, this episode offers both spiritual insight and practical wisdom for positioning yourself for supernatural restoration.

Seasons of loss can become foundations for greater blessing! God's restoration often exceeds what was originally lost. This episode combines deep biblical teaching with actionable steps for those ready to embrace God's restorative power in their lives.

Bonus Content: Faith-Based Recovery Journey Framework

1. Acknowledging Your Losses

Relationship Loss

When cherished connections break, the void can feel overwhelming. Consider this testimony:

"My closest friend of 12 years stopped speaking to me after I confronted her about gossip. We led worship together, and now church feels empty without our fellowship."

This experience highlights how relationship losses can impact multiple areas of life, including spiritual community and ministry involvement.

Opportunity Loss

Financial setbacks can carry deep emotional and generational impact:

"I lost my family's generational property because I couldn't maintain the mortgage payments during the economic downturn."

Such losses often carry weight beyond the immediate financial impact, touching on family legacy and personal identity.

Dreams Delayed

The journey to our goals isn't always linear:

"I had to pause my dream of opening a Christian bookstore after losing my savings in a failed investment, setting me back seven years."

These delays test our faith and resilience, requiring us to trust God's timing even when our plans are interrupted.

2. Challenging Limiting Beliefs

Identifying Old Patterns

We often develop protective beliefs after experiencing loss:

Old Belief: "I'm too hurt to form deep friendships again. It's safer to keep people at a distance."

Embracing Biblical Truth

Scripture offers us new perspectives through which to view our circumstances:

New Perspective: "Like Ruth who left everything familiar to follow God and found new community, I can trust Him to bring healthy, godly friendships into my life."

3. Taking Faith-Filled Action

Daily Declarations

Start each day by anchoring yourself in God's promises:

"Every morning before work, I declare Philippians 4:19: 'My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory.'"

Practical Steps Forward

Combine faith with wise action:

"While rebuilding my finances, I'm taking a biblical financial management course and meeting monthly with a Christian financial advisor."

Recording Your Journey

Document God's faithfulness along the way:

"I keep a 'Financial Restoration Journal' documenting each debt paid off, unexpected provision, and new financial wisdom gained, sharing these testimonies in my business owners' prayer group."

This practice not only strengthens your own faith but also encourages others walking similar paths.

Conclusion

Recovery is both a spiritual and practical journey. By acknowledging losses honestly, replacing limiting beliefs with biblical truth, and taking faith-filled action steps, we position ourselves to experience God's restoration in His perfect timing.

In 1 Thessalonians 2:18, Paul makes a striking confession: "We wanted to come to you—I, Paul, again and again—but Satan hindered us." This candid admission from one of the most effective ministers in church history reveals a profound truth: even the most devoted servants of God can face strategic interference from the enemy.

The enemy's tactics of hindrance remain remarkably consistent throughout history. Like a chess player studying his opponent's movements, he watches for opportunities to derail believers from their divine assignments. These hindrances often manifest as:

  • Discouragement through repeated setbacks

  • Division in relationships and ministry partnerships

  • Distraction through urgent but less important matters

  • Delays that test our patience and resolve

  • Doubt about our calling and capability

Yet here's the extraordinary reality: what the enemy means for derailment, God uses for development. When Paul was hindered from visiting Thessalonica, he wrote letters that would impact billions of lives throughout history. What seemed like a frustrating detour became divine destiny.

Joel 2:25 declares, "I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten." This isn't just about compensation—it's about supernatural compression. God has the ability to compress time, accelerate opportunities, and maximize effectiveness in ways that defy natural limitations. He doesn't just restore—He revolutionizes our trajectory.

For those feeling the ache of delayed destiny, take heart. Every detour in your journey has been collecting crucial experiences, relationships, and insights that will prove vital for your ultimate assignment.

Remember: a delay is not a denial. A detour is not a dead end. In God's kingdom, nothing is wasted—not time, not trials, not even our mistakes. He is expert at weaving every thread of our experience, even the dark ones, into a tapestry of purpose that exceeds our original vision.

You haven't missed your moment. You're not too late. God's ability to restore and accelerate goes far beyond our natural understanding. As you realign with His purposes, watch Him compress time and multiply effectiveness in ways that will leave no doubt that He is the God of redemption and restoration.

The enemy may have hindered you for a season, but God's calling on your life remains unchanged. Your detour is becoming a divine setup for a comeback that will impact generations. It's time to step back onto the track of destiny, carrying with you every lesson and victory from the journey thus far.

The full circle awaits. Your greatest impact lies ahead.

A Prophetic Word for This Season:

The Lord says, "Many of My children feel they've lost precious time. They see where they veered off course and the enemy's hindrances have left them feeling disqualified and delayed. But I am the God of the full circle. Even now, I am bringing many of you back to crossroads where you previously took wrong turns. This time, you carry wisdom gained from the detour.

"Watch as I compress time and accelerate opportunities. What the enemy meant to permanently derail will become the very platform for your greatest effectiveness. The delays have not disqualified you—they have developed you. The setbacks have not sidelined you—they have seasoned you.

"This is a season of divine convergence where seemingly wasted years are being redeemed with interest. Previous connections that seemed severed are being divinely restored. Doors that appeared permanently closed are swinging open with greater purpose. The very areas where the enemy sought to hinder you will become the stages for your greatest victories.

"Don't despise the detours—they have equipped you with unique wisdom and weapons for this next season. What looked like aimless wandering was actually strategic positioning. The circle is now complete, and you will fulfill your assignment with greater authority and effectiveness than if you had never been hindered at all."

SAMPLE DEVOTIONALWalking with Jesus Daily Journey - Day 16The Sacred Trust of LeadershipIn both the church and marketplace, Christian leaders are called to a higher standard of leadership—one that reflects Christ's character and upholds biblical principles. Among these principles, trust stands as a cornerstone of godly leadership, echoing the faithful character of our Lord who remains "the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8).

The Sacred Trust of Leadership

Leadership is a sacred trust bestowed by God. Whether leading a congregation or a corporation, Christian leaders are ultimately stewards of what God has entrusted to them. As the Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 4:2, "Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful."

This biblical principle reveals a profound truth: while organizations may grant positions of authority, true leadership authority—what we might call "permissional authority"—comes from earning the trust of those we serve. Without this trust, even the most skilled leader will struggle to fulfill their God-given mission effectively.

The Trust-Authority Paradox in Ministry and Business

One of the greatest challenges in both church and business leadership occurs when a person holds positional authority but lacks the trust of their team. This disconnect creates a leadership vacuum where influence should flourish. Jesus himself modeled leadership based not on position but on trust and servant leadership, declaring, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (Matthew 20:26).

This servant-leadership approach, grounded in trustworthiness, applies equally to:

  • Pastors shepherding their congregations

  • Ministry leaders directing their teams

  • Christian business leaders managing their organizations

  • Marketplace leaders influencing their corporate environments

Building Trust Through Biblical Consistency

Trust develops through a biblical equation that reflects God's own faithful nature: Consistency + Time = Trust. This formula manifests in three critical areas:

  1. Your declarations: Your word as your bond (Matthew 5:37)

  2. Your actions: Walking the talk (James 1:22)

  3. Your timing: Fulfilling commitments when promised (Ecclesiastes 5:4-5)

The alignment of these elements reflects the character of Christ and builds lasting trust. However, when leaders over-promise and under-deliver, they not only damage their leadership effectiveness but also potentially harm their witness for Christ.

The Wisdom of Solomon

Solomon, the wisest leader in the Old Testament, understood the paramount importance of trust and reputation. As he wrote in Proverbs 22:1, "Choose a good reputation over great riches; being held in high esteem is better than silver or gold." This wisdom serves as a powerful reminder that our testimony as Christian leaders—built on trust—carries eternal significance beyond temporal success.

Practical Applications for Christian Leaders

Whether in the pulpit or the boardroom, consider these biblical principles for building and maintaining trust:

  1. Practice Integrity in All Things

"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much" (Luke 16:10). Begin with faithfulness in small matters, knowing that God often tests our trustworthiness in minor things before entrusting us with greater responsibility.

  1. Lead with Transparency

"But everything exposed by the light becomes visible" (Ephesians 5:13). Maintain open communication with your team, sharing both victories and challenges while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

  1. Demonstrate Consistency

"Let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'" (James 5:12). Ensure your actions align consistently with your words, reflecting the unchanging nature of Christ.

  1. Accept Responsibility

Like David after his sin was exposed, be quick to acknowledge mistakes and seek restoration (Psalm 51). This vulnerability strengthens rather than weakens leadership trust.

  1. Show Christ-like Humility

"In humility value others above yourselves" (Philippians 2:3). Remember that leadership is about serving others, not being served.

The Kingdom Impact

As Christian leaders, our influence extends beyond immediate results to eternal impact. When we lead with trust, we:

  • Model Christ's faithful character to our teams

  • Create environments where both faith and work can flourish

  • Build organizations that honor God and serve people effectively

  • Demonstrate the difference Christ makes in leadership

A Higher Calling

Remember that as Christian leaders, we answer to a higher authority. Our trustworthiness isn't just about organizational effectiveness—it's about reflecting the faithful character of God himself. When we lead with trust, we create a powerful testimony that speaks to both the church and the marketplace.

The challenge for every Christian leader is clear: build trust as a foundation for God-honoring leadership, knowing that faithfulness in leadership becomes part of our eternal legacy. As we align our leadership with biblical principles, we can fulfill our calling to be salt and light in both sacred and secular spaces, leading others toward Christ through our example of trustworthy leadership.

Has God ever blatantly interrupted your life plans for you to follow His? There invariably will come a time in our spiritual journey when the Lord will solicit our cooperation in permitting Him to guide us in a new way. His preference is that we would sense His leading, fully cooperate and move in the new direction. However, as is all too often the case, He must intervene in the affairs of our lives due to the fact that we are comfortable and entrenched in our present course of action. In this teaching, Glenn Bleakney shares the 3 Biblical ways God often uses to move us in a new direction.

Introduction

"He who walks with wise men will be wise..." - Proverbs 13:20 "Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace." - Matthew 11:29 (MSG)

The number 21 represents a powerful period of spiritual formation and habit development. In Scripture, Daniel's period of prayer and fasting lasted 21 days before receiving his vision (Daniel 10:13). Modern research also suggests that 21 days is a crucial threshold for establishing new habits and patterns in our lives. This makes it an ideal timeframe for intentionally developing a deeper walk with Jesus.

Welcome to your 21-day journey of walking with Jesus. Just as the disciples walked alongside our Savior, learning from His words, actions, and very presence, He invites us to walk closely with Him today. This devotional is designed to help you develop a deeper, more intentional relationship with Christ through daily reflection, prayer, and practical application of biblical principles.

During these three transformative weeks, we'll explore essential life lessons through the lens of Scripture and Jesus's perfect example. We'll learn how to:

  • Choose the right path and align our goals with God's purpose
  • Care for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit
  • Develop habits that draw us closer to Christ
  • Find joy in the journey of following Jesus
  • Transform our daily routines into acts of worship
  • Navigate life's challenges with divine wisdom
  • Build relationships that honor God
  • Steward our resources for Kingdom impact

Each daily devotion includes:

  • Focused Scripture passages
  • A meditation connecting life principles with Jesus's teachings
  • Personal reflection questions
  • Practical action steps for immediate application
  • A guided prayer for spiritual growth

How to Use This Devotional:

  1. Set aside a specific time each day for your walk with Jesus
  2. Read the devotion slowly and contemplatively
  3. Take time to complete the reflection questions in a journal
  4. Implement at least one action step each day
  5. Use the prayer as a starting point for deeper conversation with God
  6. Consider finding a prayer partner to share the journey

Remember, this is not merely a reading exercise—it's an invitation to walk alongside the Savior Himself. Jesus meets you exactly where you are, but loves you too much to leave you there. These 21 days can be the beginning of lasting transformation in your walk with Christ. As research shows that it takes approximately 21 days to form a new habit, let this period be one of establishing lifelong patterns of walking closely with Jesus.

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." - Psalm 119:105

This distinction is important because it impacts how the organization and its members see themselves. RodrĂguez warns against falling into a "Para-church" mentality, where YWAMers view themselves as separate from or superior to the local church. Instead, YWAM should be "part of something greater" -- namely, the global church.

An apostolic vision, according to the sources, has several key characteristics:

  • It involves recognizing that God has already been at work and that YWAM has "a glorious inheritance" to build on and pass on to future generations
  • It requires seeing YWAM as a family, not just a hotel where people come and go as they please
  • It prioritizes discipleship, which is "a lifestyle," not just a six-month or one-year program
  • It calls for "passing on a legacy," not just delegating tasks
  • It means impacting society beyond just church activities, striving to be "relevant in society"
  • It involves dependence on God, not money

One of the biggest threats to this apostolic vision is the tendency to become "institutionalized". RodrĂguez draws contrasts between an institutional and an apostolic approach to various aspects of YWAM life and ministry:

Institutional vs. Apostolic Christian Organization vs. Apostolic Mission [4] * Looking Out for One's Own Ministry vs. Being Part of Something Greater [7] * Bases vs. Missionary Communities [17] * Leaders vs. Pastors/Spiritual Parents [18] * Training vs. Discipleship [19] * Staff Members vs. Servants of God [20] * Pastoral Care vs. Pastoral Life [21] * Delegating a Task vs. Passing on a Legacy [22] * Students vs. Disciples [23] * Institutional Presence vs. A Mission that is Relevant in Society [14] * Ministerial Activities vs. A Vision to Follow [24] * Bound to Money vs. Depending on God* [16]

RodrĂguez uses numerous examples and anecdotes to illustrate his points. These range from personal experiences in YWAM Argentina to biblical stories. Notably, he emphasizes the role of families in YWAM, highlighting the challenges and opportunities they face [25, 26]. He also stresses the importance of recognizing "openings, opportunities, and urgency" in missions [27]. By responding to these, YWAM can truly make a difference in society and be part of God's work of transforming nations.

The sources conclude with a call to action, urging YWAMers to reflect on what they have read and to allow the Holy Spirit to renew their lives and ministries [28]. RodrĂguez encourages them to embrace the apostolic vision and to build upon the foundation they have inherited. He emphasizes that God still has much to reveal about this vision and that YWAM, as a family, can achieve great things together in fulfilling the Great Commission [29].

When Jesus said, "I will build my Church" (Matthew 16:18), He envisioned a vibrant Kingdom movement that would thrive through the collaboration of different roles within the fivefold ministry—apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. Together, these diverse gifts would work in harmony to foster growth and extend His influence in the world.

The Kingdom of God thrives on principles of multiplication and nurture, beautifully illustrated by the complementary roles of apostolic and pastoral ministry. Throughout His ministry, Jesus embodied this dual focus—venturing into new territories to share the message of the Kingdom (apostolic function) while also showing deep compassion for His followers (pastoral function). His instruction to "seek first the Kingdom of God" (Matthew 6:33) resonates with both the broad outreach of apostolic work and the supportive nature of pastoral care.

Within this Kingdom framework, apostolic leaders can effectively serve as pastors while maintaining their primary calling to expand God's Kingdom. Just as Jesus trained the twelve while continuing His broader Kingdom mission, modern apostolic pastors can shepherd a local congregation while focusing on raising up Kingdom-minded leaders who will further expand God's territory.

The Kingdom principle of multiplication appears throughout Scripture, from God's first command to "be fruitful and multiply" to Jesus's parables about Kingdom growth. An apostolic pastor embodies this principle by developing what Scripture calls the "fivefold ministry" – apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers (Ephesians 4:11-12). These gifts were given specifically "for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ," ultimately advancing God's Kingdom purposes.

When Jesus spoke about the Kingdom of God being like a mustard seed that grows into a great tree (Matthew 13:31-32), He was illustrating a fundamental Kingdom principle that applies to apostolic-pastoral ministry. The local church, under apostolic-pastoral leadership, becomes like that mustard tree – firmly rooted in one place while providing far-reaching influence and impact for the Kingdom.

The Book of Acts provides a powerful model of this Kingdom-focused leadership approach. The apostles, while maintaining connection with their home base in Jerusalem, invested heavily in developing local leadership teams throughout the expanding Kingdom territory. They understood that Kingdom advancement required both the pioneering spirit of apostolic ministry and the stabilizing influence of pastoral care.

This Kingdom-centric model becomes particularly effective when the apostolic pastor focuses on developing teams that understand and operate according to Kingdom principles. These aren't merely functional leadership teams; they're Kingdom representatives equipped to demonstrate and declare the reality of God's reign in their spheres of influence. As Jesus sent out His disciples with the mandate to "preach, saying, 'The Kingdom of heaven is at hand'" (Matthew 10:7), so apostolic pastors send out equipped leaders to extend Kingdom influence.

The development of pastor/elder teams takes on new significance when viewed through a Kingdom lens. These teams aren't just providing practical care; they're establishing outposts of Kingdom authority and influence within the local community. They become stewards of Kingdom culture, demonstrating the values and principles of God's reign in tangible ways.

In practical terms, an apostolic pastor operating with Kingdom focus structures their ministry to reflect Heaven's priorities. Their preaching and teaching emphasize Kingdom principles, their leadership development programs focus on Kingdom values, and their strategic planning aligns with Kingdom purposes. Every aspect of ministry becomes an opportunity to advance God's reign and influence.

The Kingdom principle of stewardship plays a crucial role in this model. Jesus often taught about faithful stewardship in His Kingdom parables, and apostolic pastors must steward both their apostolic calling and their pastoral responsibility. This means wisely investing in leadership development, creating opportunities for emerging leaders to exercise their gifts, and establishing systems that sustain Kingdom advancement.

The multiplication of apostolic leadership takes on greater significance when viewed through Kingdom eyes. Each new apostolic leader raised up represents potential for Kingdom expansion in new territories. As Paul mentored Timothy and Titus, establishing them as Kingdom leaders in their own right, so modern apostolic pastors invest in the next generation of Kingdom leaders.

The development of elders in this context becomes about more than local church governance – it's about establishing Kingdom authority and wisdom in the local church. These mature leaders serve as pillars of Kingdom culture, helping to align church life with Heaven's values and priorities while supporting the apostolic vision for Kingdom expansion.

When Jesus taught us to pray "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10), He was establishing a pattern for all ministry. Apostolic pastors take this prayer seriously, working to establish Kingdom patterns in their local churches while simultaneously pushing for Kingdom expansion beyond their walls.

The impact on church culture is profound when viewed through this Kingdom lens. Members begin to see themselves not just as church attendees but as Kingdom ambassadors. The church transforms from a pastoral care center into a Kingdom training ground, equipping believers to represent Heaven's interests in every sphere of influence.

In conclusion, the integration of apostolic and pastoral functions under Kingdom principles creates a powerful dynamic for advancing God's purposes on earth. This approach aligns with Jesus's Kingdom parables about growth, multiplication, and influence. The result is a church that provides excellent pastoral care while simultaneously advancing Kingdom territory through apostolic vision and multiplication.

Success in this Kingdom-focused model ultimately depends on maintaining clear alignment with Heaven's purposes, developing Kingdom-minded leaders, and creating systems that facilitate ongoing Kingdom expansion. When these elements are in place, the church becomes an effective center for both nurturing believers and extending God's reign in the earth. As Jesus promised, "this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations" (Matthew 24:14), and apostolic pastors play a crucial role in fulfilling this Kingdom mandate.

Introduction

God's Kingdom, a concept central to biblical teachings and theological discourse, encompasses both the present reality of God's reign in believers' hearts and the future consummation of His rule over all creation. The advancement of this Kingdom occurs through a fascinating interplay of dramatic, transformative moments and gradual, steady growth. This dual nature of Kingdom advancement reflects the multifaceted ways in which God works in our world and in individual lives.

Dramatic Moments: Powerful Waves of the Holy SpiritThroughout history, there have been periods of intense spiritual awakening and revival that have profoundly impacted individuals, communities, and even entire nations. These dramatic moments are often characterized by a tangible sense of God's presence and power manifesting in extraordinary ways. When the Holy Spirit is poured out in abundance, it can feel like a tidal wave of divine energy washing over believers, reminiscent of the Day of Pentecost described in Acts 2.

Rapid Transformation and RenewalIn these moments of spiritual intensity, people often experience rapid and dramatic changes in their lives. Long-standing addictions may be broken instantly, deep-seated emotional wounds can be healed, and hardened hearts may suddenly soften to receive God's love. Physical healings, emotional restoration, and spiritual renewal are common hallmarks of these dramatic outpourings. People may find themselves suddenly freed from chronic illnesses, mental health struggles, or spiritual oppression.

Signs and WondersAccompanying these powerful moves of the Spirit are often supernatural manifestations that defy natural explanation. These may include prophecies, visions, miraculous healings, or other phenomena that point to the reality of God's intervention in human affairs. Such signs and wonders serve to strengthen faith and draw attention to the message of the Kingdom.

Extraordinary Divine InterventionDuring these periods, there's often a sense that God is moving in ways that transcend the ordinary. Prayers may be answered with uncanny specificity, seemingly impossible situations might be resolved, and there may be a heightened awareness of God's guidance and providence in daily life.

Gradual Maturation: The Steady Growth of the KingdomPrayer as a CornerstoneConsistent, persistent prayer forms the foundation of this gradual growth. Through daily communion with God, believers align their hearts with His will and become more attuned to His voice. This ongoing dialogue shapes character, deepens faith, and gradually transforms individuals from the inside out.

Obedience in the Small ThingsThe Kingdom advances through countless small acts of obedience. When believers choose to follow God's leading in their daily decisions - showing kindness to a stranger, resisting temptation, or speaking truth in love - they are actively participating in the expansion of God's rule.

Perseverance Through TrialsThe steady growth of the Kingdom is often forged in the crucible of trials and challenges. As believers persevere through difficulties, clinging to faith and trusting in God's promises, their character is refined and their testimony strengthened.

Daily Rhythms of Spiritual Development God's Kingdom grows as individuals are drawn into relationship with Him, one at a time. The daily rhythms of spiritual disciplines - studying Scripture, worship, fellowship with other believers, and acts of service - provide the consistent nourishment needed for long-term spiritual growth.

The Eternal Significance of the MundaneRedefining SignificanceBy recognizing the eternal value of everyday faithfulness, we're challenged to recalibrate our definition of what's truly significant. Simple acts of forgiveness, moments of patience, or choices to prioritize spiritual growth may seem unremarkable, but in God's economy, these actions carry immense weight.

The Hidden Work of GodMuch of God's work in advancing His Kingdom happens beneath the surface, unseen by human eyes. Like a seed germinating underground before it breaks through the soil, the most profound spiritual growth often occurs in the hidden places of the heart.

Cumulative Effect of Small ChoicesThe power of gradual growth lies in its cumulative effect. While a single act of obedience may seem insignificant, the compounded impact of thousands of such choices over a lifetime can result in profound transformation and far-reaching influence for the Kingdom.

Reshaping Worldviews

As believers internalize this understanding of the mundane's eternal significance, it reshapes their entire worldview. Routine tasks become opportunities for worship, daily interactions become potential Kingdom encounters, and the ordinary rhythms of life are infused with sacred purpose.

The Paradox of Kingdom AdvancementEmbracing Both DynamicsMature faith recognizes and values both the dramatic outpourings and the gradual processes of Kingdom growth. Rather than prioritizing one over the other, believers are called to embrace both dynamics, understanding that God works through both means to accomplish His purposes.

Breakthroughs and ProcessThe journey of faith often involves periods of breakthrough - moments of sudden insight, deliverance, or empowerment - interspersed with long seasons of steady growth and patient endurance. Both elements are necessary for holistic spiritual development and the advancement of God's Kingdom.

Sudden Change and Patient DevelopmentWhile sudden, dramatic changes can catalyze growth and inspire faith, patient, long-term development is often where lasting transformation occurs. The integration of both sudden and gradual change creates a robust and resilient faith capable of withstanding various challenges.

Mountaintop Experiences and Valley WalksThe spiritual journey encompasses both exhilarating mountaintop experiences - moments of clarity, intimacy with God, and spiritual highs - and long walks through valleys of challenge, doubt, and perseverance. Both terrains are essential for spiritual formation and the expansion of God's Kingdom.

The Spirit's Equal WorkPerhaps most importantly, the Holy Spirit is equally at work in all these varied experiences. Whether in dramatic outpourings or quiet moments of faithfulness, in sudden breakthroughs or gradual growth, the same divine power is actively advancing God's Kingdom.

In SummaryThe advancement of God's Kingdom manifests through a profound interplay of the extraordinary and the ordinary. This divine reign progresses through powerful movements of the Spirit that reverberate across nations, as well as through the quiet, steadfast faithfulness of believers in their daily walk.

To fully participate in God's work of establishing His Kingdom on earth, we must embrace both the dramatic and the gradual aspects of spiritual growth. This involves recognizing the value in both momentous events and mundane routines, understanding that each plays a vital role in the unfolding of God's plan.

As we journey through our spiritual lives, it is crucial to remain receptive to sudden outpourings of God's Spirit, anticipating with eager hearts the moments of breakthrough and transformation. Yet equally important is our commitment to the daily disciplines of faith, acknowledging the profound significance of our seemingly small acts of obedience and love.

By engaging in this dual approach, we become active participants in the advancement of God's Kingdom. We cooperate with His Spirit to manifest glimpses of heaven on earth, gradually transforming our world through each day lived in faith, each person touched by grace, and each choice made in alignment with God's will.

One of the most disconcerting phenomena we observe among Kingdom leaders is when they become more preoccupied with safeguarding their own position, authority, or personal comfort than with sincerely addressing the needs of those they guide.

This disjunction may manifest in several troubling manners:

  1. Lack of Empathy for Daily Challenges: Leaders often struggle to connect on a personal level, overlooking the everyday difficulties faced by their constituents. This lack of understanding fosters alienation and reduces the leader's effectiveness.

  2. Prioritizing Personal or Institutional Goals Over Community Needs: When leaders concentrate solely on their objectives, they risk ignoring the community's actual needs. This can result in initiatives that fail to resonate with or benefit those they aim to help.

  3. Surrounding Themselves with Affirmative Voices: Leaders who seek only affirmation instead of diverse viewpoints miss out on valuable insights. A lack of constructive criticism can stifle innovation and impede progress.

  4. Making Decisions in Isolation: Leaders who operate without consulting those impacted by their decisions risk creating policies that are disconnected from reality. This detachment can lead to ineffective strategies and further alienation of the community.

This disconnect leads to a breakdown in trust and effectiveness, ultimately undermining a leader's ability to lead authentically.

The Manifestation of Altruistic Leadership

In stark contrast to the disconnect seen in modern leadership, Jesus exemplified a deep commitment to altruistic leadership. He showed empathy, actively engaged with those around Him, and placed the needs of others above His own. Here are some key principles of altruistic leadership that can help revitalize our approach to leadership within our churches and communities:

  1. Empathy and Active Listening: Leaders should strive to genuinely understand the struggles their community faces, involving not just hearing but actively listening to others' experiences and concerns.

  2. Prioritizing Community Needs:

Decisions should be rooted in the well-being of the community. Leaders can establish regular feedback mechanisms to ensure their initiatives align with the true needs of those they serve.

  1. Encouraging Diverse Perspectives: Fostering a culture of openness and inclusivity can drive innovation. Leaders should seek input from a variety of voices within their community to enhance their understanding and approach.

  2. Engaging with the Community: Rather than leading from afar, effective leaders should immerse themselves in the community to grasp the challenges and opportunities firsthand. This engagement builds trust and fosters a sense of belonging.

Many today have received powerful prophetic promises, but have not seen them translate into reality. Why is this seeing that God is not a man that He would lie. The truth of the matter is a promise sometimes is not enough!

Now some may find this shocking, but please bear with me as I explain.

Consider the great prophet Elijah. He had the sure word of the Lord that it was His will that rain would fall on the earth after 3 years of famine. Was that sufficient? Evidently not. Elijah had to partner with the promise by engaging in a process. In his situation, prayer was the process required (See 1 Kings 18:42-44).

Often, the fulfillment of prophetic promises is contingent on our obedient actions. For example, the disciples were given specific instructions in order to secure a meeting place to celebrate the Passover. They had to go to the city and look for a man with a water jar and say, “The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?'” Only after this act of obedience was the promise fulfilled.

Like the saints of old, let's contend for prophetic promises to be realized in our lives! There is so much at stake! “And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets— who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises …" (Hebrews 11:32-33, ESV).

The team at Deep Dive discusses Glenn Bleakney's recent teaching series on Ezekiel 37 and how it is a prophetic and apostolic pattern for revival and reformation.

Introduction: The Valley VisionIn this well-known passage from Ezekiel 37:1-14, the prophet encounters a valley of dry bones, symbolizing the hopelessness of Israel in exile, seemingly beyond the possibility of redemption. God's actions and questions in this moment show us what it means to go beyond revival, inviting us to embrace a life of transformation, faith, and partnership with His Kingdom purposes.

The valley of dry bones isn't merely a revival story. It's a prophetic pattern that reveals the ways of God, showing us how to go beyond a temporary encounter and step into a lasting transformation. In this passage, God's question to Ezekiel—"Can these bones live?"—isn't just an inquiry about possibility; it's an invitation to partner with Him in bringing life, hope, and endurance to His people.

Lessons from History: A Call to Sustained TransformationRevival is a powerful and essential starting point for every believer and community longing to experience the fullness of God. But if we stop there, we miss the bigger picture of what God intends to accomplish. While revival sparks a renewed hunger for His presence, transformation is the ongoing journey of shaping lives and communities to reflect the Kingdom of God.

Ezekiel 37:1-14 paints a vivid picture of this concept, showing how transformation leads to renewed life and how this renewal calls us into a lasting partnership with God. Reflecting on past movements of God, we find a crucial truth: the purpose is not merely to experience powerful services, deep worship, or even witness miracles. It's about letting the Spirit of God fully transform us, so that the impact flows into every part of our lives and communities.

Four Life-Changing Outcomes the Father DesiresThese four outcomes revolve around a single question: "Can these bones live?" (Ezekiel 37:3)

1. Crisis Acknowledged: Facing the Reality of BrokennessIn Ezekiel's vision, God confronts him with a valley of dry bones, a symbol of Israel's utter desolation. God's question—"Can these bones live?"—underscores the severity of their spiritual state, showing the depth of the crisis.

This recognition of brokenness is essential in any revival. We must face our own spiritual dryness, brokenness, and areas where we need God's intervention. By acknowledging the crisis, we open ourselves to a work that only God can accomplish. In this way, revival isn't just a moment of excitement but a sober acknowledgment of our need for ongoing transformation and healing, especially in the areas we cannot repair on our own.

2. Complacency Confronted: Stirring Expectancy Over ResignationWhen God asks Ezekiel, "Can these bones live?" He is challenging any complacency that may have crept in, inviting Ezekiel to rise above hopelessness and believe in the power of God to transform.

This challenge to complacency is critical if revival is to become more than a brief moment. It's easy to become resigned to the situations we see as beyond repair. However, God calls us to live with expectancy, to believe that He can—and will—revive and renew. Revival begins with the conviction that God can bring life to the most desolate places, sparking a fresh expectation that moves beyond revival and into everyday faith.

3. Call for Cooperation: Partnering in God's Redemptive WorkAfter stirring Ezekiel's faith, God calls him to prophesy over the bones, actively involving him in the miracle of restoration. God doesn't bring life alone; He invites Ezekiel to partner with Him. This is a powerful Kingdom principle—revival is not something that God simply does to us; it's something He does through us.

We are called to take steps of faith, speaking life and hope into dead situations. Our cooperation, marked by obedience and faith, allows us to be instruments of God's transformative work. In revival, we're not passive spectators but active participants, partnering with God to see His Kingdom advance.

4. Commission for Collaboration: Empowered with Divine AuthorityFinally, God commissions Ezekiel, giving him the authority to speak life into the bones. This act of commissioning is significant—Ezekiel is no longer just an observer; he is empowered to declare God's will and bring life where there was none.

Likewise, in revival, God doesn't merely want us to be moved by His presence; He wants to empower us as agents of transformation. We are given His authority to bring life, healing, and hope into situations that seem hopeless. This is the ultimate outcome of a revival that leads to transformation—believers who are not only inspired but are empowered and commissioned to bring God's Kingdom to earth.

A Revival That Won't StopEzekiel's valley of dry bones is more than a revival story; it's a prophetic pattern that reveals the ways of God. Revival, at its core, is not just about experiencing amazing services, deep worship, or even miracles. It's about positioning ourselves for a life that is fully transformed, a life where the Spirit's work doesn't wane but grows stronger, reshaping us, our communities, and even nations.

As we apply these four truths and cry out for God's glory and His ways, we align ourselves with His desire for a revival that doesn't end but continues in intensity and longevity. Revival is the spark, but transformation is the ongoing journey—a journey that brings the life of the Kingdom into every sphere, allowing us to be catalysts of change until His Kingdom is fully revealed. The valley of dry bones reminds us that revival is not the end, but the beginning of a life empowered to carry His Kingdom, fulfilling God's vision of a "revival that just won't stop."

Crying Out for the Glory and Ways of the LordFor this enduring transformation to become a reality, we must go beyond the initial intensity of God's presence and seek both His glory and His ways. Like Moses, who cried out, "Show me Your glory" (Exodus 33:18) and "Teach me Your ways" (Exodus 33:13), we must hunger for a deeper revelation of who God is. Psalm 103:7 reminds us, "He made known His ways to Moses, His deeds to the people of Israel," emphasizing that knowing God's ways brings us closer to His heart.

A lasting move of God cannot be sustained by occasional encounters or memories of past experiences; it must be grounded in a genuine desire to understand and walk in the ways of the Lord. As we learn His ways, we align ourselves with His Kingdom principles, allowing His life to flow through us continually.

A Cautionary TaleI once pastored a church in the United States where true revival was happening, but certain people through gossip created division and the Holy Spirit was grieved. God's presence departed and the revival literally stopped. This serves as a powerful reminder of how precious and delicate these movements of God can be.

From Revival to Lasting TransformationThe story of the dry bones reveals God's heart not only for revival but for complete and lasting transformation. The vision doesn't end with the bones coming to life—they are formed into a vast army, called to a purpose beyond mere survival. Likewise, God's desire for us goes beyond initial revival; He wants to shape us into people who actively participate in His Kingdom work, bringing transformation to our families, communities, and beyond.

Revival is the spark, but transformation is the journey that follows, a call to live in alignment with God's purposes day by day. When we recognize the crisis, confront our complacency, cooperate with God's calling, and embrace our Kingdom commission, we step into the fullness of what God has called us to be—Kingdom catalysts, equipped to bring change that lasts.

Revival may set us on fire, but it's our transformation and obedience that spread the flame, igniting hearts and establishing God's Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. The valley of dry bones in Ezekiel's vision is a reminder that, while revival begins the work, transformation is the enduring result, calling us to be God's hands and feet, living vessels of His hope and power in a world longing for life.

Join us as the team from Deep Dive discuss Glenn Bleakney's book, # Ways God May be Guiding You in a new direction.

Description: Has God ever blatantly interrupted your life plans for you to follow His? There invariably will come a time in our spiritual journey when the Lord will solicit our cooperation in permitting Him to guide us in a new way. His preference is that we would sense His leading, fully cooperate and move in the new direction. However, as is all too often the case, He must intervene in the affairs of our lives due to the fact that we are comfortable and entrenched in our present course of action. In this teaching, Glenn Bleakney shares the 3 Biblical ways God often uses to move us in a new direction.

What is revival? While many liken it to a spiritual awakening, I'd like to propose a different metaphor: revival as a mighty river, reminiscent of the vision in Ezekiel 47.

ďťżVideo of the Week: https://www.kingdomcommunity.tv/media/nfgwqjx/the-habitation-of-god

Picture a once-vibrant river that has slowed to a trickle. Its banks are dry, and the surrounding landscape thirsts for nourishment. Suddenly, the waters begin to swell, and the river surges forward with renewed strength. This is what revival does for the church.

Refreshing Stagnant WatersJust as a rushing river refreshes stagnant pools, revival reinvigorates believers. It replenishes our spiritual reservoirs, renews our commitment to our faith, and redirects our focus towards expanding God's righteous Kingdom rule in the world. As Ezekiel observed, "This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh" (Ezekiel 47:8).

Carving New PathsA powerful river doesn't just flow within its existing banks; it carves new channels. Similarly, revival propels us beyond the familiar confines of our church walls. It creates new pathways into our communities, carrying the life-giving message of God's love to those who are spiritually parched.

Washing Away DebrisRivers have the power to wash away accumulated debris. In the same way, revival cleanses our spiritual lives of the buildup of routine, the sediment of complacency, and the flotsam of going through the motions. As these are swept away, we gain a clearer view of our purpose and role in God's plan.

Nourishing Barren LandsA river brings life to barren lands along its banks. Revival spreads believers throughout society like water nourishing dry soil. We become wellsprings of faith in unexpected places, empowered to nurture growth, foster change, and cultivate spiritual fruit in our spheres of influence. Ezekiel's vision speaks to this transformative power: "Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing" (Ezekiel 47:12).

A Constant FlowIt's important to understand that revival isn't meant to be a flash flood, but a constant, powerful flow. It's not a one-time event, but a sustained force that continually renews and reshapes the church. This river reminds us that our spiritual journey is ongoing—requiring constant movement and growth as we work to expand God's righteous Kingdom rule on earth.

As these life-bestowing waters surge, they not only revive our souls but also erode the barriers of indifference, carving fresh avenues of empathy and selfless dedication.

The prophetic call compels us to immerse ourselves in the overwhelming river of God's grace, as illustrated in Ezekiel 47. As we surrender to its depths, we find that it is not our strength but His divine power that carries us forth. This river, fierce and unrelenting, will sweep us up, transforming us from within. It is through this miraculous work of God in and through us that we are equipped to share the life-altering message of Christ, reaching every parched soul and desolate place, revealing the abundant life that flows within His kingdom.

Welcome back to the Power of Five podcast with Dr. Michael Gretchko, a teaching pillar at Pneuma Church in Melbourne, Australia. In our last session, we explored Ephesians chapter four and the call to walk worthy of Christ's purpose.

Today, we continue our discussion, delving into the significance of Jesus' work on the cross, His ascension, and what that means for the church. We will also explore the role of the Fivefold ministry in equipping God's people for ministry.

In Ephesians 4:7-10, the apostle Paul emphasizes that grace has been given to each believer according to the measure of Christ's gift. This grace is not only for individual believers but also for the collective body of Christ. Paul quotes Psalm 68 and explains that Jesus, upon ascending, led a host of captives and gave gifts to men. These gifts refer to the fivefold ministry: apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers.

It is essential to understand that there are two types of gifts given to believers. Firstly, every believer has been given spiritual gifts that enable them to serve others. These gifts are for the common good and building up of the body of Christ. Secondly, the fivefold ministry itself is a gift to the church. The apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers are given by God to equip the saints for the work of ministry.

The work of ministry involves using spiritual gifts to serve both the church and the world. Every believer is called to use their gifts to serve others, building up the body of Christ. The fivefold ministry plays a crucial role in preparing and equipping believers for their unique ministries. By guiding and teaching, the fivefold ministry helps believers grow to maturity.

To understand the concept of maturity discussed in Ephesians 4:13, we must look beyond the idea of flawless perfection. The Greek word used for maturity, "taleos," signifies completion and stages of learning, advancing, and maturing. It is not about achieving sinless perfection but about becoming mature, like the fullness of Christ.

Being mature in Christ means being able to do what Jesus did—making disciples, praying, teaching, healing the sick, preaching, and revealing the kingdom of God. The fivefold ministry is instrumental in equipping believers to serve in these areas. They function as different aspects of Christ working together to make believers more like Him.

In our Western culture, we often focus on personal achievements and personal ministries. However, the New Testament teaches that our aim should be to become like Christ, not the best version of ourselves. Our growth and maturity should mirror the fullness of Christ, as demonstrated through His teachings and actions.

As believers, we need the guidance and equipping of the fivefold ministry to reach this level of maturity. They play a significant role in teaching, empowering, and modeling Christ-likeness. Through their efforts, believers are prepared to serve the church and the world effectively.

Furthermore, they espouse and enact the culture and values of the Kingdom. They are relational, revelational, and transformational. Glenn Bleakney sits down with Dr. Kim Maas as she shares her journey into ministry and the message of her recent book, The Way of the Kingdom: Seizing the Moment for a Great Move of God. For many believers, times of unrest simply mean that darkness is on the rise. But what if the growing violence in the world today means something different? What if our "signs of the times" mean that the Spirit of God is on the move? Author and trusted prophet Kim Maas reveals one of the mysteries of the Kingdom: When light breaks through the gates of darkness, the result is violence. This is spiritual warfare, and it signals a fresh awakening. It means that the Kingdom of God is advancing and that you are advancing! Engage in Kingdom violence the way Jesus taught - with violent love, violent forgiveness, violent healing, violent deliverance, violent peace. If answering violence with violence sounds like war, it is. You are already in position. Overturn the works of darkness in every area of your life, and watch for a great move of God! About Dr. Kim Maas Kim Maas is a sought-after international speaker, author, and Christian minister. Her passion is to inspire, encourage, and equip God’s people to move forward in the call of God on their lives. This passion comes through in her preaching, leadership, writing, and everyday life. Recap of the Interview with Dave Hodgson of Kingdom Initiatives: Salvation: Dave shared how he was radically saved at a Reinhard Bonnke event. Evangelist Bonnke actually picked Dave out of a large crowd in Perth, Australia with a precise word of knowledge that resulted in Dave surrendering his life to the Lord. Assignment: God clearly showed Dave that he was to assist a certain pastor in the northeast of Australia. Dave was faithful to do this both financially and in other ways. When God called that pastor to start a new church over 1000 miles away in the Sunshine Coast, Dave said his goodbyes to the pastor having no intention of joining him there. God then spoke to Dave, reminding him that he was assigned to help that pastor. Dave disobeyed for a year and his business crumbled! Now $75,000 in credit card debt and having no assets, Dave moved his family to the Sunshine Coast and began to help his pastor again. In the next six years, his business grew to be worth over $300 million! Kingdom Initiatives: Dave's message is simple, “get rid of greed, fear, and corruption in the marketplace, move away from a business culture driven by maximizing self-interest at the expense of others, and establish a just economy based on sharing, caring, and a goal of bettering everyone." Dave’s vision is to turn Australia into the world’s first “sheep nation” and to make it a prototype for other nations around the world to follow. The Key to Favor: Dave believes that embracing one's Kingdom assignment will invariably attract the favor of the Lord on our lives resulting in supernatural increase. There is so much more Dave shared in this interview! Get ONTRAC: Check out KingdomCommunity.Global to learn how our new initiative, OnTRAC, will help you know and grow in your Kingdom assignment.
