Chris has often said, “Life is too short to be unhappy. We all deserve to love what we do and who we do it with. Christina Spicer is the co-CEO of Girl Scouts-Arizona Cactus-Pine Council. Spicer is a leader who has devoted two decades of her career to directing critical youth initiatives throughout the community. After graduating from Arizona State with a degree in communications, she joined notMYkid. Shortly after earning her master's degree from Arizona State, she joined Teach for America, where she led the development team.
Spicer is also founder of CAMEO, a women's mentorship organization. She serves on local boards and has received several awards, including Phoenix Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Award. She was named a Diverse Business Leader to Watch and the Phoenix Mercury's Believe in Women award.

About James Wesala
James is a Senior Associate at Richärd | Kennedy Architects and works on international projects overseas and projects throughout the Southwest. James is a licensed Architect in Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas, and has a broad range of typological experience focused on Government, Civic/Public, K-12, and Higher Education projects. His service to the community is exemplified in projects that engage and enrich local communities, uplifting and shaping spaces for people to interact and grow. James earned his Bachelor of Science and Design in Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture at Arizona State University, where he currently is an educator in the Design School, teaching students of several levels in multiple disciplines. His teaching experience includes lecture courses and design studios at undergraduate and graduate levels. James' extracurricular activities include co-hosting/co-producing the "Tracing Architecture" podcast (co-founder). James currently serves the AIA on the Phoenix Metro Chapter’s Board as AIA10 Director (2024-2025) and previously on AIA Arizona’s Board as AIA10 Director (2020-2021). He also serves the profession in other organizations, such as NOMA Arizona and NCARB. Finally, James serves nationally with the National Architectural Accreditation Board participating in accreditation site visits and on the inaugural NAAB Accreditation Review Committee.

Beth Scarano is principal & CEO of LaunchPM, a growing Scottsdale company specializing in commercial construction project management. Scarano spent two decades in the design and construction industry before starting LaunchPM in 2012. She grew up in Elkhorn, Nebraska as part of a large family and moved to Arizona to study accounting at ASU with plans to pursue a career as an actuary. Plans changed when she married and went to work to put her then husband through college. Her first job in the construction industry was with an engineering firm, where she was hired to computerize billing. Scarano spent nine years with the company working her way up to VP of operations. The desire for flexibility as a mother of three prompted Scarano to start EJS Associates, a firm specializing in recruiting and staffing services for the construction industry. In 2003, she returned to corporate life, leading business development and project management for a variety of top construction firms.
As a business leader, Scarano believes it is important to give back to the community. She consistently donates time, services, and financial support to multiple organizations and nonprofits. She serves on the board of Hushabye Nursery and on the executive committe for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women. Scarano resides in Scottsdale with her husband. She has three grown children and five grandsons.

Born in Sonora, Mexico, Carlos Murrieta grew up at the core of Mexico City, experiencing firsthand one of the world's most densely populated cities, significantly impacting his later interest in the built environment. After graduating in 1993 with a Bachelor of Architecture from Tecnologico de Monterrey (ITESM), he started a firm in northern Mexico and later joined a firm in Phoenix, AZ; finally, in 2012, with his colleague and friend Clarisa del Castillo, he co-founded Merge Architectural Group, ranked one of the Top-10 small architectural firms in Arizona.
A recipient of the 2016 Arizona American Institute of Architects’s Young Architect Award, he believes you need to be part of the change to trigger change. He is an active member of the Architecture community where he currently serves different roles, including current President at the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Arizona Phoenix Metro, President of the National Organization of Minority Architects in Arizona (NOMA), Advisory Committee member for the Arizona Board of Technical Registration (AZBTR), member of the examination committee for the National Council of Architect Registration Board (NCARB) in Washington DC.

Matt joined Dircks Moving & Logistics full time in 2012 after graduating from Arizona State University. Matt began his journey at Dircks working on the trucks learning from our crews and has also spent time in our Dircks Logistics operation, serving as the General Manager as we launched our Tucson branch, leading our Dircks Business Services team and as of January 1, 2023 leading the organization as President & CEO.

Founding Partner + Jason Barclay Morris is a graduate of the University of Arizona, College of Law, and a founding partner at the law firm of Withey Morris Baugh, PLC. His past experience includes work as a congressional staff member, and as partner with the Land Use Section for a major Phoenix law firm.
Mr. Morris’s practice is exclusively in land use, planning and zoning and government relations in Arizona, as well as the Southwest region. Alan is the founder and CEO of Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF), a social outreach ministry that provides food and clothing, cultivates community and promotes dignity to homeless men and women in need. Previously a real estate investor and developer, Alan founded Trilogy Development and the Lynxs Group, which developed Austin’s airport cargo facility and similar facilities at airports around the country.
In 1998, the seed for the idea of Mobile Loaves & Fishes had been placed on Alan’s heart. He and four friends boldly answered God’s call to “love your neighbor” by delivering meals to homeless men and women from the back of a green minivan. Alan readily admits that the group’s original approach for serving the homeless had some flaws, but with the help of a formerly homeless man, Houston Flake, they perfected the model that Mobile Loaves & Fishes successfully uses today. Since its founding, MLF volunteers have served more than 5 million meals with a side of hope to homeless men and women living on the streets of Austin, and the organization has spawned similar food truck ministries in other cities across the U.S.
Alan also is the lead visionary behind MLF’s Community First! Village—a 51-acre master planned development in northeast Austin that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness.
Alan and his wife, Tricia, were married in September 1984 and have four children of their own, as well as a niece they’ve been blessed to raise and include in their family. Alan is a published author of the book Welcome Homeless: One Man’s Journey of Discovering the Meaning of Home. He also is the host of the Gospel Con Carne podcast, which explores the woundedness of society through untold stories of individuals who have encountered homelessness.

Michael's journey began at the age of 12 when he started his first business in his mother's orchard in the mountains of Oregon, hiring workers to pick and process fruit for him to sell. After moving to Arizona for college, he started a manufacturers rep business selling car waxes and cleaning products to auto dealerships. This business was acquired two years later with 22 full-time employees representing over 30 manufacturers.
Michael's next investment was in a trucking company (Dump Trucks) in Ohio, which he grew into a successful asphalt paving business with over 100 employees over the course of 10 years.
In 2013, Michael and his family moved back to Arizona, where he took a position/investment with Sunland Asphalt. His goal was to invest time in something he could have an active role in developing culture, growing sales, establishing processes, and building something bigger than he felt he could do on his own. Sunland Asphalt's strategic goal was to grow the business from roughly 250 employees and $120m in revenue to over $200m in revenue with the right culture and processes so it could be marketed successfully. At the time of exit, Sunland's revenue was over $300m with over 700 employees and a culture that was known not only in Phoenix but nationally.
Michael's passion for building businesses with employees led him to make the biggest investment of his career here at TRENCH-ADE. Once again, his eye is set on developing culture, growing sales, establishing processes and building a business that multiple generations can benefit from. I got the job at CCS in October of 2018 through one of my best friend's, Lindsey. I was burned out and ready for a change. My life hasn't been the same since. I had to learn what business development was and I had to learn what the AEC industry was all about. It was the best decision I ever made. With the direction and support of AAED's members, Kelly completed the organization's first long-range strategic plan, revamped the organization's certification for economic developers, debuted new programs including Economic Development for Elected Officials, and won the highest honors from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for their Economic Development Week campaign in 2020 and 2021. Early on in his career, J.J. worked as a cost engineer conducting feasibility estimates, strategic capital estimates, cost planning, and analysis of value engineering for the technology, petrochemical, and food industries. He went on to develop and implement a variety of systems for estimating, scheduling, resource management, and cost tracking while holding Project Manager and Senior Management Positions.

The Arizona Department of Education — the state agency tasked with overseeing Arizona’s K-12 public education system. The department, led by a publicly elected Superintendent of Public Instruction, comprises more than 600 staff across four state offices working to serve Arizona’s students, families, educators, and school communities.
Career and Technical Education is a division of Arizona Department of Education. CTE’s Vision is to Develop Arizona’s competitive workforce through the power of Career and Technical Education.
Cindy Gutierrez serves as Director of CTE Program Services in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) unit of the Arizona Department of Education, a position she has held for the last six years and has been with the department for over eight years. Cindy serves under the leadership of the Deputy Associate Superintendent and state CTE Director, Cathie Raymond and Superintendent of Public Instruction, The Honorable, Kathy Hoffman.
In this position, Cindy leads a team of eight program specialists who oversee the high school CTE programs across the state, which include Construction Science Technologies, Engineering, Manufacturing and Information Technologies, Agriculture and Welding, Transportation Technologies, Public Service Careers, Health Science Technologies, Family and Consumer Sciences, Education Professions, and Business, Marketing and Communication Technologies programs. Prior to becoming a director, Cindy served as the CTE Construction Science and Transportation Technologies Program Specialist for the Arizona Department of Education.
Cindy began her career in education in the Peoria Unified School District as a high school Industrial Technology Instructor teaching Drafting, Cabinetmaking, and her passion, Construction Technologies. Cindy also organized and taught CTE Internship courses related to each CTE program on the campus, connecting seniors in high school to Business and Industry partners to gain real world experience before graduation. Cindy holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from the University of Arizona and a Master of Education in Career and Technical Education from Northern Arizona University.
A native of the West valley – Peoria, Cindy has seen the overwhelming growth of the valley and can credit her own father for many of the homes built since the early 1970’s.
In November 2021, Cindy was honored to receive the Visionary Leadership Award in recognition of her support and partnership with the Arizona Construction Career Days.

After graduation, 19 of her family members picked up and left Wisconsin and moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she started her career in the hospitality industry. After 3 years of being in the industry, she then moved into the medical field where she was the head of sales for a physical therapy company.
Karli comes from strong ties to the medical field, so her love of selling to physicians shined through. She then transitioned to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she started her career in the construction/environmental industry. She has now been in the industry for 6 years.
She recently moved back to Arizona which allowed her too not only be closer to her family again but grow in her career as she covers both the Las Vegas and Arizona Markets.
She has 3 siblings and 3 nephews, as well as, one niece. She love’s spending time with her family. She participates in the Autism Speaks foundation in honor of her oldest nephew who is autistic.
A dream of Karli’s is to one day open up a gym for special needs children, where they can learn different sports and feel comfortable doing so. She loves to travel and see new places. She has a huge passion for health and wellness. She has completed 6 half marathons and recently has taken up Pilates.
