Influential content is always at our fingertips, and it can be extremely difficult to discover and embrace who we really are and what we want in a world that is constantly telling us what is "best." Self-care should mean cherishing and taking care of your authentic self, so it's going to look look different for everyone. Some things I talk about in this podcast are: my personal wellness practices & some ways to help determine what is best for you, how I've developed my confidence, my spiritual journey, struggles I've faced in college/young adult life, and creating an everyday life you love. There are 4 main ways people tend to beat themselves up:

Invalidating your feelings Acknowledging what you could have done better or how you can be better (and not what you DID accomplish or what you did right) Feeling like you don’t deserve something or aren’t worthy of praise (imposter syndrome) Looks/body image

What a lot of people do when they invalidate their feelings is they push them away, they ignore them -- they’re not valid so they’re not worth paying attention to. The problem with that is there IS a reason you’re feeling that way (whether it be due to the circumstances in your life or the chemicals in your brain) and even if that reason doesn’t seem valid to you, it is. Give yourself credit for everything you’re doing right and don’t let your imperfections define you, but let your accomplishments speak volumes as to who you are and how hard you’re working.

In this episode I talk a little bit about how to not let your past hold you back from growing and becoming the person you want to be. We are often are harshest critics and hold ourselves back through negative self-talk. Learning to use your flaws, insecurities, the things you've been through, and the things you're not proud of to form a stronger identity is a really powerful thing that will allow you to build confidence and become the best version of yourself.

These are some things I've started implementing into my daily routine that align with my needs right now as I enter into a season of change in my life. Our habits should be based on our priorities, and in order to know what our priorities are we need to reflect on what season we are in. Everyone's self-care is going to look different, so remember that what someone else's day looks like isn't necessarily what your day should look like. I believe the things I talk about in this episode are a great was to prioritize your mental health and practice mindfulness everyday.

What we believe to be “true” is largely based on what we consume, from social media, to TV shows, to news, etc. We have the ability to regulate what we are watching and listening to so that we are consuming what is constructive and what aligns with our values and beliefs. However, it is also critical that we realize that just because something doesn’t align with what we believe to be true, doesn’t mean we should turn on the noise cancelling headphones and ignore it. Keeping an open mind and rethinking is key to learning, growing, and becoming confident in our views and decisions. Just because you can have strong beliefs and be confident in your identity doesn’t mean you can’t change what you think.

Kicking off season 2 with some advice on taking a break from your routine & getting back into one in a healthy way. With a few weeks left in the summer and fall just around the corner, now is the perfect time to switch things up. While a routine is a powerful tool to create and live a life that you love, and it helps you accomplish what you want and feel your best, it may also cause you to fall into a rut. When the things that are supposed to make you feel good start to feel like a chore and don't excite you, when you aren't giving yourself credit for taking care of yourself, or when you feel anxious about doing things that may inhibit your daily habits, it is likely time to make a change and take a break.

People spend the summer in a variety of ways, from traveling, to having an internship, to living at the beach, to babysitting in a small hometown. It can be easy to compare what you're doing to what everyone else is doing, and feel like you're waisting your time, or like the place you're in is useless. But really, whatever place you're in still holds a lot of potential to help you work towards your goals. Every experience can be useful if we choose to see what we can learn from it, as opposed to why it is a waste of time. God has you in the place you're in right now for a reason, even if you aren't able to know what it is. Set your goals with intention behind them, and act with that intention in mind. Even the smallest steps are gratifying when you know why you want what you want. The same emotions we get from accomplishing something can come from the journey we take to get there. So use the place you're in right now to learn & grow, and know that everyone's timing is different. This is just where you're meant to be right now.

From dating, to starting a relationship, to breaking up, I wanted to talk about some things to consider that will help you be more intentional about your relationship choices, and save you stress and heartache in the future. It is critical that we know what we want and communicate that at the beginning stages of a relationship, even if you risk the person walking away. It can also be easy to feel stuck in a relationship, so it's also important to consider some factors of a healthy relationship and if you're getting what you deserve. While breaking up might seem like the worst thing in the world, a lot of peace can come from knowing that the relationship still has value even if it's over, this is just the place you are meant to be at in your life, and God has a better plan for you.

I had the opportunity to have a GREAT conversation with Liv (@livlifecoachofficial) this week! Liv and I went to college together for a year and were in the same sorority, but only became friends through social media years later. Liv has since moved across the country and is pursing a career in life coaching.

In this episode, we talk about everything from our journeys and how we were able to escape drinking and hookup culture, to pursing your passions and going against the norm. Our goal is to inspire and encourage other young women to embrace their authenticity and not become a product of their environment.

If you liked this episode make sure to share it on Instagram and tag @livlikeyoupodcast and @lifecoachlivofficial ! We'd love to hear what you thought :)

Manifestation is essentially the idea of turning your dreams into reality. It’s the concept that your thoughts determine your actions which then determine your results. It requires having a specific vision of what you want your life to look like, and changing your thoughts in order to achieve this vision. You might be thinking: how can I manifest the life I want for myself if God might have other plans for me? How do I both give control to God and ask him to guide me down the path that’s best for me, but also create the life I want for myself? These are questions I aim to answer in this podcast, because it IS possible to both practice manifestation and trust God's plan.

How exactly are you able to hear God? Does God hear you? It can often feel like God doesn't hear us when he doesn't obviously answer our prayers. We might wonder if it's even worth praying if God has a plan anyway. But God DOES hear you, and he responds to your prayers in ways you might never even know. If God has something He is trying to tell you, He will tell you. So listen, spend time alone with him, and pay attention, but don't look for specific answer. Trust Him and have faith in His plan for your life.

Friendship is a big part of life when you’re in college and in your 20s. It's during this time when friendships have the greatest influence on us, and the friends we choose to bring into our lives are going to cause us to either stay grounded or stray from who we are. The 6 types of friends everyone needs are:

A "cheerleader" The consistent one The one that will call you out The one that makes you laugh The one who you can share anything with and not receive judgement The one who shares your values

Even the Bible tells us: it’s not the amount of friends you have, but the genuine, loving friendships that matter. So how do we bring these friendships into our lives and how do we know when a friendship has reached its expiration date?

The most common reason we hold ourselves back from pursuing for that dream career, taking that really hard class, applying for that leadership position, or utilizing a platform we've been given, is because of a belief we have about ourselves that isn't true. By choosing to see the positives in yourself and in others, you will open yourself up to so many more possibilities, and have the choice to live the life you want to live, not the one your insecurities created for you. If God is on your side you are capable of anything, even if you feel like you aren't worthy of it.

The drinking culture in college and young adult life is something that isn't talked about enough and can have significant effects on mental and physical health. Many of us feel like we need to drink to fit in socially or be "in-the-loop" professionally. I wanted to share my personal experience with you to give you some food for thought and hopefully inspire you to reflect on the effects alcohol may be having on your life.

One of the greatest challenges young people face is feeling pressured to reach certain milestones at a specific ages. It can be difficult when certain things are or aren't happening in your life, and it appears they are happening in everyone else's. We must recognize that being open to God's plan means being open to His timeline for your life. It is also important to determine what your personal definition of "success" is, and how that may cause your timeline to look different that others'.

Your environment should be a space that supports you, not takes away from your life. You shouldn't constantly be reacting to the mess around you, but instead have the space to respond. This also goes for your schedule - we can often feel as though our schedules are packed with things we have to do, leaving us no time for things we actually enjoy or are meaningful to us, or even feeling like those things are a burden. Developing healthy habits is the best way to gain control of your physical space and your calendar.

In this episode, I share about how I got to the place I'm at right now with my faith, mental health, relationships, etc. Life can get pretty crazy, so it's important to turn to the right things to find happiness and remain focused on what matters to us and who we are following/surrounding ourselves with. Some of the moments in my life when everything has looked the most perfect on paper have actually been some of the lowest points I've been at. However, God has shown me something in each of these seasons of anxiety and confusion, allowed me to grow closer to Him, and ultimately lead me to the path I'm on right now.

Rest is just as important to incorporate into your routine as movement. Without proper rest, we simply aren’t able to perform to our highest ability. There are 3 main type of rest: physical rest, rest for your mind, and rest for you soul. In this episode, I will talk about how to rest in these three ways and why they are so important.

Trying to be the person the world is telling you to be is going to lead to comparison, which is then going to lead to insecurities and a lack of confidence. The world and the enemy are going to try to tell us truths about ourselves that they want us to believe. They are going to tell us we aren’t good enough in just about every way. But the power of self-love, self-confidence, and the power of God can overcome all of that. You were beautifully and wonderfully made and there is a purpose and a plan for your life, and you are able to walk with confidence by knowing that.
