Nine years ago, Sara Migaj decided to create WLKM (An organization that protects artists' rights and makes people aware of how to purchase music legally). Initially, it was only Sara, but now the team counts five people and grows continually. Opening social media profiles was the first step to making the idea real, and it didn't take much time to make WLKM one of the leading organizations in Poland.
They also started doing interviews with artists from around the world and put them on the website. Currently, the team publishes daily news connected with the music industry, reviews, and reports from the events. Their main mission is to convince people how important it's for artists that fans go to concerts and buy merch and CDs. Last week we talked about Eurovision. As we know, Ukraine won this year's song contest, the UK took second place, and Spain finished third. However, the biggest surprise of the grand finale was that Poland ended at the bottom of the left side with only 46 points from the jury. We also had a controversial situation during the second semi-final when European Broadcast Union decided to cancel jury results of six participating countries after a voting anomalywas identified. The official statement you can read on the Eurovision website. This episode will focus on the American Song Contest and other possible spin-offs. Two sisters, Deanna and Brenda Harrell, with Jason Heberling, will tell more about their reaction to the news of creating Amerivision and what they think about the first season.

It's almost 66 years since the first Eurovision took place. During the first edition in Switzerland, seven countries were represented by two songs. A host country artist Lys Assia performed the best song called Refrain. The tradition of the winning country hosting the next song contest began in 1958. It's also the longest annual music competition broadcasted live on the TV and one of the longest TV shows. The seven and the most wins have an Ireland, with six wins are Sweden, France, and Luxembourg, then with five awards are The United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

On the morning of Thursday, February 24th, Russia invaded Ukraine, which changed everything. In one minute, the world stopped, and couldn't believe that the war had just started. Millions of people have been forced to leave the motherland and become refugees. Others decided to stay and fight for the country's freedom risking their lives. Unfortunately, hundreds of people have been killed, and thousands have been injured since the invasion started. However, many people from around the world didn't remain indifferent and gathered together during this difficult time, organizing vigils and collections supporting Ukraine.
One of them is Magda Breitkopf, who decided to do something and, together with Beata Zaborniak and Magdalena Zielinska, organized a vigil "Solidarity with Ukraine" in Birmingham. During the event, they collected two big vans and one small truck of essential items, which with White Eagle Club's help, were delivered to the Poland-Ukraine border. In the podcast, you will hear more about the preparation, how they managed things after the vigil, how you can help, and what else they want to do as a community group called "People for People."

A Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is still counting money, but what it's known as far, they set up a new record. During one day, 120 000 volunteers from around the world helped the foundation make the score. The collected funds will be used to ensure the best standards of diagnostics and treatment of children's eye disorders and eye diseases. Some of the money will also go to Ukraine as the foundation decided to buy medical equipment for Ukrainian hospitals. They want to purchase cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, defibrillators, respirators, incubators, ultrasound machines, and more. The final amount will be known at the end of March. The local event was organized by the collection center in Birmingham, where over five hundred people attended the event. They raised over £14,000 and beat last year's record almost free times. More details will say, Magdalena Zielinska, the chief of staff in Birmingham, and Piotr Sliwinski, a volunteer who played with the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity for the first time.
