Well its been a while! We are still continuing with writing out the book of Acts but also choosing to produce some mini series along the way!
This idea with birthed after a mini getaway to Myrtle Beach for some much needed rest. This episode records some of the brainstorming around the series where we plan to look at verses or sayings that we have grown to understanding in different ways. Jeanette Hiller, Lisa Bauman, Amanda Lewis and I take a little journey in listing some verses from the Bible that may be worth looking at more closely in this series.

Karen Weber and Kimberlee Habermehl joined me in discussing Acts chapter 8 and 9. So much to unpack in these two chapters but we do our best to just pick a few questions and create space for not knowing all the answers. We kept it under an hour - no small task for these two chapters!
Follow along with us and read through the book of Acts! We are using the First Nations Translation to guide some of our conversations but you can read through any translation you have!

Part II of working our way through Acts chapter 4 and 5. This episode centres mostly around Acts chapter 5 and the story of Ananias and Sapphira - a difficult story to understand and sit in the tension of not fully understanding what the purpose of the story is! We also discuss the complex decisions pastors and church leadership have had to make over the past few years.

Well this finishes up the 2021 season! Part 2 of our family discussion on the Christmas season. From words we used to describe Christmas, how our engagement with the season has changed over the years to the opportunity we hope others take during the Christmas season. Its a raw and honest look at what it was like for my mom to grow up in Nova Scotia on Indian Hill - her journey through trauma and coming to a place where she is no longer ashamed of her lineage.
Connie is a pastor in Kitchener, Ontario Canada at Glencairn church, a superb spiritual director and natural mentor to everyone she meets. Her perspectives and life experience bring so much to this table and so we are honoured to have her as a guest on todays podcast.

Incorporating the First Nations translation of Acts - a more inclusive translation that invites us to think more deeply about what we are reading in the book of Acts. Lots to cover here from thoughts and questions on Acts chapter 1 and 2 and what its like pastoring a church during a pandemic.
I am pleased to introduce to you Danielle Presseault! Author, life coach, pastor and a friend from many years ago! Danielle and I first met when her family moved to Elmira, Ontario to serve at our church. With husband as pastor and two young kids, we connected through a small group at church and on the baseball field where we both attempted to play slow pitch.
Since moving to Ottawa, Danielle has become a college instructor, life coach, seminary student, community chaplain and pastor! She has been busy moving forward in her giftedness and serving alongside her husband who is also a pastor. You can find Danielle reading, writing, playing board games and relaxing in her Sabbath Shack alongside her husband and two almost grown children.
Danielle stepped out in faith and wrote her first book called "The Ripple Effect - An invitation to a Pastor's wife to Heal her Pain & Shame". In this episode we learn more about her journey through writing the book, some advice for writing a book and some stories behind the stories you will find in this memoire.

We do not need to look very far to see the systemic issue of division in our world today. We all have a capacity to create division and its time we become intentional about reducing that footprint.
This series will concentrate on learning more about how the early church was formed by reading through the book of Acts. You are invited to journey along with us as we use the First Nations translation as a way to continue to work on our own discovery of truth and the reconciliation that will follow. Keeping in mind what we learn about the early church and the missions of Peter and Paul, we hope have discussions that will encourage us to consider the roles we play in division and work towards being undivided.

This series did not feel complete until I asked my sister and brother to join us! We prepared some pretty tough questions for mom to reflect on. Marilyn Bauman shares more of her own journey by reflecting on shame, forgiveness, heritage and the comfort of the cross.
By far one of the best conversations I have had in a long time! It looks like this podcast was the birth of a new series. Looking forward to sharing it with you when the details are sorted out - or not...perhaps we will just trust that the details will sort themselves out as we move forward in learning more truth and its resulting reconciliation.
Season 2 launching soon...but first I need to get a handle on all this back to school chaos :)

In response to the horrific discovery of the mass grave site on the former Residential School in Kamloops BC, I wanted to invite my mom to share with us her experiences as a child and gain insight on how we can move forward in reconciliation. Her insight and wisdom runs deep!
This podcast serves to introduce you to the speaker and learn a little about her family history. This will lay the groundwork for the upcoming podcasts where we will dig a little deeper and discuss the oppression she experienced growing up, her experiences within the public school system, the impacts of intergenerational trauma and how we can move forward from all of this. Is there hope in reconciliation?

This weeks words is gobsmacked! Such a fun word. Seems to stick out from the other 11 words in this series as less biblical or something - but it's a word that I use to describe how I feel when I learn something new or when something I thought to be true is blown out of the water - I'm gobsmacked!
**This week I am using the recording of a conference from 2019 - the theme was relentless faith. I took a look at the book of Job to see if we can tease out some understanding of our faith in action. We look at our understanding of God, ourselves and our circumstances and how this influences our faith in action. The session concludes with a rich panel discussion.

Its March 27th, 2021 and we are done (well some of us) writing out the book of Romans. This adventure started on January 1st with a challenge of writing out the book of Romans and the connecting to share our questions, concerns and things we have learned through the process.
In this episode Lisa Bauman, Amanda Lewis, Sheri Stover and I finish up our discussions on Romans and decide what book of the Bible to tackle next. Feeling blessed to be a part of this group where we can openly share our questions and things God is revealing to us!
