A quite complex pattern has set up out in the tropical Atlantic that is making it difficult to really know what to expect regarding the series of tropical disturbances that we see lined up off the coast of Africa. The tropical Atlantic has three area to monitor over the coming days but none look to become much of an issue as conditions are only marginally conducive for development right now. Looks like a nice weekend ahead with no major concerns in the tropics.

We have a minor area of interest that may try to develop off the Southeast coast of the U.S. in a few days but otherwise, things are still nice and quiet across the Atlantic Basin as an unfavorable overall pattern remains in place to round out the month of July.
Thanks for listening!
Typical quiet pattern continues as we begin to round out the month of July. I see no issues developing anytime soon across the tropics for the week ahead.

The Atlantic Basin remains free and clear of any areas of concern and I don't see anything popping up within the various global models over the coming days.
In the east Pacific, hurricane Felicia became a category four hurricane with winds of 145 mph as of early this morning. No worries as Felicia will continue to move westward over the open Pacific far from land.
Also, a new tropical depression has formed well off the coast of Mexico and it too will track away from land and not pose any issues.

A nice weekend is on tap as we don't have any issues to be concerned with across the Atlantic Basin over the next several days and likely beyond.

Have a great weekend and thanks for listening!
With a little luck, we could end the month of July with no additional named storms in the Atlantic as for now the global models are not suggesting any development over the next week to 10 days at least.
In the meantime, we do have a hurricane in the east Pacific - Felicia - that will not pose any direct threat to land areas other than perhaps some increase in swells for coastal Mexico and perhaps southern California in several days.
Thanks for listening, have a great rest of your Thursday!
Looks like the quiet pattern will continue across the Atlantic Basin for the next several days as I see no areas of concern developing anytime soon.

I'll cover all of these topics and more in today's Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video on my YouTube channel.
Thanks for listening!
A quiet look to the tropics as we begin the week ahead - at least for the Atlantic Basin with suppressed phases of the MJO and CCKW moving through, helping to keep convection quite minimal from the coast of Africa all the way across the Caribbean and into the Gulf of Mexico.
The east Pacific has a couple of areas of potential development well off the coast of Mexico and both features will remain offshore and move away from the Mexican coastline in the coming days.
Thanks for listening, have a great week ahead!

Thanks for listening!
The latest on a very disorganized tropical storm Elsa on this Independence Day 2021.

A bit of good news this morning as it looks like Elsa is beginning to lose out against climatology and the fact that hurricanes don't do well in the eastern Caribbean in early July.
I'll take a closer look at why this is happening and what the impacts are expected to be for the Greater Antilles and Florida during my Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video later this afternoon on YouTube.
Thanks for listening!

I'll have more concerning Elsa in my Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video on YouTube later this afternoon.
Thanks for listening!

The Atlantic Basin looks to be rather quiet as we head through the weekend but we will keep an eye on a couple of tropical waves as they make their way westward.
In the east Pacific, we will likely be talking about the season's first hurricane - Enrique - as what is now a tropical storm in that region gets its self together rather quickly.

Thanks for listening, have a great weekend!
All indications are that we could see a tropical depression form way out in the deep tropical Atlantic somewhere south of the Cape Verde Islands over the next few days. This would be very early in the season for this to be happening and a sign that we are, in fact, in for a busy season ahead.
Meanwhile, another tropical wave will bring showers and thunderstorms to portions of the Lesser Antilles as it moves west and across that region over the next couple of days.
And finally, we should see a tropical depression form in the east Pacific off the coast of Mexico that may go on to become the season's first hurricane.
I will cover all of these topics of interest and more in my Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video on YouTube later this afternoon.
Not a lot going on across the Atlantic Basin right now and it looks to remain generally quiet for the next several days.

As we begin the week, it looks like the tropics will remain somewhat busy with a new area of interest to watch out in the tropical Atlantic.

I'll cover all of these topics and more in my Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video on YouTube later this afternoon. Thanks for listening!
The remnants of Claudette will continue to move across the Southeast bringing the threat of heavy rain and severe weather. We will also be watching to see if it can make a comeback over eastern North Carolina and become a tropical storm again in the western Atlantic as it takes advantage of warm Gulf Stream waters and a bit of a boost from atmospheric processes.
I'll go over this and much more, including the potential for more development down the road, all part of my Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video on YouTube.
Thanks for tuning in and have a great Father's Day!

Thanks for listening, have a great weekend!
Invest area 92L has not become any better organized overnight with only limited areas of showers and thunderstorms seen on satellite imagery this morning. I will go over this and more during my Hurricane Outlook and Discussion video on YouTube later this afternoon. Thanks for tuning in!

I am beginning to see a little more in the way of consensus among the various global models suggesting that we will eventually see some level of development in the vicinity of the southern or western Gulf of Mexico in about a week or so. Using "ensemble" forecasting, it helps to see a variety of "what if" scenarios and this helps to create confidence in the longer range outlook.
I will go over this and more in today's Hurricane Outlook and Discussion on my YouTube channel.
Thanks for listening!
So far, no solid signs of development seen within the overall complex set up across the Atlantic Basin or the eastern Pacific. I think it will take at least a week - perhaps longer - before anything tries to get going, if at all.

Thanks for listening, have a great week!
Subtropical storm Ana will depart the scene and leave the Atlantic Basin nice and quiet as we begin the new week.
Our attention will then be focused upon the Bay of Bengal where a powerful cyclone is forecast to develop by the global models. This could pose a significant threat to areas such as Bangladesh several days down the road.
Have a great rest of your weekend - thanks for listening!
For the seventh year in a row, we have a named storm outside of the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season.
I take a look at subtropical storm Ana (what does that mean?) and more in this morning's update.

We now have two areas to keep track of over the next couple of days.
I discuss the new Gulf of Mexico disturbance as well as 90L out near Bermuda in today's update.
Thanks for listening, have a great weekend!
Invest area 90L could go on to develop and become a short-lived subtropical cyclone over the next few days. Also, NOAA releases their 2021 hurricane season outlook today so be on the lookout for that on social media.
I will go over the NOAA forecast and some of the keys to watch for during the upcoming season in Friday's video discussion via my YouTube channel.
Thanks for tuning in, have a great Thursday!
Looks like we have a couple of areas of interest to monitor in the eastern Pacific and the subtropical Atlantic over the coming days.
I will take an in-depth look at these areas, plus a peek at what we may be looking for as we head into June, during my video discussion that I will post on YouTube this afternoon.
