This research seeks to glean insights into Community Food Centres (CFCs), social enterprises, and other food security innovations in Ontario through Zoom interviews with CFC staff and board members. By studying CFCs, including their innovations, possibilities, and limitations, I hope to examine pathways for structural change to address hunger, racism, social isolation, and food insecurity. Hosted by Molly Touchie.
On today's episode, we're back discussing The Table, a Community Food Center in Perth, Ontario. Ramsey Hart and Youssef Sawan offer insights on the role of The Table in the community and reimagining what Community Food Centres can provide. We will delve into discussing systemic poverty, and anti-racism at The Table.
These interviews took place over zoom during stages one and two of Ontario reopening in response to COVID-19 during June to August 2020.

On today's episode, we're discussing The Table, a Community Food Center in Perth, Ontario. The Table's mission is to foster a healthier, more connected community. They do this by improving access to healthy food, improving food skills and food literacy, as well as advocating for individual well being and social policies to address food insecurity and poverty. Today we'll be speaking with Ramsey Hart, the Executive Director of The Table and Youssef Sawan who is a part time Advocacy and Social Justice Coordinator. In addition to working for The Table, Youssef is a part time professor at the University of Ottawa in Sociological and Anthropological studies and his interests are in food sovereignty, political sociology, adult education, and social movements.

I will be speaking with Karen Secord and Erica Braunovan, who are staff of Parkdale Food Centre, as well as Landry Kalembo and Deb Abbott, who are board members. We will delve into discussing systemic poverty, charity, anti-racism within Parkdale Food Centre, and other emergency food programs. These interviews took place over zoom during stages one and two of Ontario reopening in response to COVID-19 during June to August 2020.
