Five-year-old Rebecca Delon watches from the fierce grip of her father’s arms as the police take away Tio Jorge (George Edwards). She doesn’t know that her mother has just met her death by falling from a cliff along the California coast and that Tio Jorge will be accused of the crime.
In one day she loses the three most important people in her young life—her mother to death, her father to sadness, and Tio Jorge to the police. Sixteen years later Rebecca graduates from Stanford University.

In the final episode of Tio Jorge the family prepares for Jorgito's crossing to the U.S. Rebecca, Alberto and George make a visit to Parque Escondido as it will be the last chance they have to see it before they leave the country.
In Rebecca's voice we learn that Jorge and his mother might be in danger in Mexico City. Vitico, Alberto and Rebecca go into the city to find them and bring them home.
Rebecca, George, and Alberto go to Mexico to spend the holidays with Rebecca's Mexican family. George tries to explain the mystery man in the courtroom and gets himself in trouble. They also find out that Jorge has gone missing in Mexico City while visiting his mother.
In the Delon family living room, Rebecca meets with Granddad, Gran and Jimmy. Granddad wants to get everythjing out in the open. Later George gets his long-awaited day in court. Alberto is waiting outside the courthouse when the hearing is over.
George gives us an account of the events leading up to and on the day that Helen lost her life. What was she doing on the cliff? Jim calls George and makes a request.
Rebecca spends the night at Alberto's house in Forrestville. She searches for a reason not to love Alberto, but can't find one. In the morning she meets with George and he gives her advice.
Rebecca drops Conchita at the airport for her trip to Mexico. On the way home Rebecca gets a message that Gran is in the hospital. She has a nasty confrontation with Jimmy and Alberto shows up to save the day.
Rebecca takes Conchita to give her deposition with Patricia, and Patricia shows Rebecca a little special attention. The same afternoon Rebecca takes a call from Alberto, though she had vowed that she would not. He invites her out to dinner.
Rebecca finds herself with a new dilemma, an attraction to Alberto, who George introduces her to on the street in Guerneville. Alberto flirts with her and she feels uncomfortable not knowing exactly what George's connection to Alberto is. She also lets him know that her life is already too complicated.
George finds solace on a lonely beach, even when the weather is cool and foggy. One mid winter day, he encounters a young man named Alberto on what he has come to consider his beach.
Rebecca and Conchita continue their conversation about Conchita's past in the car on the way back from meeting Tio Jorge. Later Conchita finds the courage to stand up to her employer, Rebecca's grandmother. Gran is disgusted with both Rebecca and Conchita.
Rebecca reveals to George her intention to reopen his case and clear his name. He has his doubts. She also tells Conchita about who she went to visit and asks her help in setting the record straight.
George takes the letter home and feels the presence of Miguel as his thoughts drift to Rebecca's difficult life. He recalls an incident which exemplifies young Rebecca's complex relationship with her mother.
When Rebecca returns to Tio Jorge's trailer the next day, she sees that he has fled. With a tip from a neighbor, she goes to the beach and finds him there. They try to keep away from the emotional topics of their shared experiences, but they both realize they will eventually have to talk about what binds them together.
Rebecca says goodbye to her Mexican family and gets an emotional gift from her grandmother. Back in the Bay Area, she still has her doubts, but heads out alone again to find Tio Jorge.
Rebecca moves from the hotel to her grandmother's house for the rest of her time in Mexico. But she is a little uncertain about staying in the same house with Vitico. A tension arises between them when they are discussing Jorgito's future and Abuela tries to keep the peace.
Rebecca doesn't know quite what to do with the flirtatious attention she is getting from her uncle. But she does want to spend time with him to find out more about her father. They walk and talk in the park that Tio Jorge created in the jungle and then drown their sorrows in mescal in a town bar.
Rebecca is in her father's hometown and getting to know her Mexican grandmother, who gives her warmth and love. She also meets her uncle and another relative she knew nothing about. At the end of the episode she finds out how to contact Tio Jorge, who is back in California, not that far from where she grew up.
In a heart to heart conversation with Conchita, Rebecca reveals her idea to go visit her Mexican grandparents and finally get to know where her father came from. She is disappointed in the sad little town, but finds an incredible warmth in her Mexican grandmother.
Back in the voice of George, this episode is a flashback to many years before when he was starting a new life in Mexico. Miguel, a local teenager, appears at his door in a pouring rainstorm asking for work.
It is a couple of weeks after her graduation and Rebecca gets a letter from a lawyer who her estranged father had entrusted with delivering a package to her on her twenty-first birthday. The package leads her to a safe deposit box where she learns something special about her father.
