LadyByrd is an activist and motivational speaker whose purpose is to spread the awareness of HIV. This podcast is about the education of HIV/AIDS and other STDs that people are afraid to discuss and address.
This episode talks about my decision to homeschool my youngest child and how it's been going so far.
This episode talks about my first time seeing HIM after he was sentenced to prison for knowingly infecting me with HIV.
Beginning the new year by closing out a few moments in the past. This episode I talk about my experience as a kid and my dental emergency and journey.

When doctors have told us for many years that mothers who have HIV shouldn't breastfeed, Ci Ci opted for the road less traveled. She chose to breastfeed and this journey has changed a whole narrative!

Most often times people forget that not only is HIV a Sexually Transmitted Disease, but it's also a virus that can be transferred from HIV Positive Mother to child. In the 80's and 90's many mothers were unknowingly HIV Positive and due to things like lack of healthcare resources, knowledge, or prenatal care, they were giving birth and transferring the virus to their children.
This was the case for this week's guest the amazing comedian Andy Feds. He's going to share with us his story and a deeper look into a part of having this diagnosis when the only thing you've done was be born.

Today we will speak with Jevon Martin who not only saw the AIDS Epidemic emerge in the 80's but also worked in the FIRST AIDS Hospital in New York at the time, St. Vincent's. Being someone who is not HIV Positive, Jevon uses his experiences to educate and advocate for those diagnosed with HIV as well as the LGBT+ Community. As a Transgender Man, Jevon makes sure that his fellow brothers and sisters understand the importance of Health Awareness.

You don't expect when you get married for the first time that it would end in such a way as mine did. I went from being this blushing bride and this awesome newlywed wife to a guy who I thought was my heaven sent to a woman that felt damaged, scorned, and abused. When I found out I was pregnant I was excited and that quickly ended Nov 21, 2007. Numb is the only word to describe how I felt when the doctor said to me that I was HIV Positive. I was a new bride, newly pregnant and newly infected. All by my husband. You think you know everything there is to know about someone before you marry them only to find out it was all hidden and you were being fed lies. Never once did I think I was going to die. The only fear I had for my future was rejection and that still didn't stop me from being open about my status from the beginning and sharing my story with the world.
