Daniel 7 has been called “the most comprehensive and detailed prophecy of future events to be found anywhere in the Old Testament.”

Instead of continuing in chronological order, we go backwards in time to a series of visions that Daniel had.

Visions that show that God is indeed sovereign.

Daniel 6 is one of the best-known chapters in the Bible.

We have heard it in Sunday school, at Vacation Bible School, in sermons, and there is even a Veggie Tales episode.

It provokes our imagination.

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas shows how God glorify himself among the nations by rescuing one of his children who trusted him no matter what.

We have to remember that Daniel was not written to give us a history lesson about Babylonians, Medes, and Persians.

It was written to encourage the Hebrew people, God’s people, that though they had been defeated and exiled, God was sovereignly in control, and they should trust him even when they could not trace his hand.

He is working out his plans and accomplishing his purposes, and every now then he lets us in on what he is doing.

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas reminds us that God set kingdoms and removes kingdoms

Abraham Lincoln once said: "Behind every great man, is a great mother!"

I want to introduce you to a mother that is often forgotten in Scripture.

Most of us have never heard of her.

We know of Mary, Elizabeth, Rachel, Rebekah, Hannah, Ruth, and Naomi; however, our text gives us another mother worthy of our examination.

Her name is Rizpah.

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas shows us a mother of example.

C. S. Lewis calls it “the great sin” and with good reason.

It is the sin that led to the fall of Satan.

It is the sin that led to the fall of humanity and drove Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden.

God hates pride because it challenges his sovereignty and questions his will.

It claims a position and power for mere mortals that rightly belongs only to “the King of the heavens” (v 37)

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas shows us that through humiliation and restoration of the most powerful man on the earth, Daniel 4 is going to remind us that God is in control, and we are not.

In Philippians 1:21 Paul writes, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

John Piper calls this the ultimate win-win scenario.

“If I live, I get Christ. If I die, I get more of Christ! Eitherway I win!”

I believe this is the mindset of 3 young Hebrew’s by the names of Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

We know these men, taken captive to Babylon in 605 BC by their popular names: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

The last time we will see these men is here in Daniel 3.

We will see men of courage, conviction, and commitment.

Man with his ambitions, ego, and idolatries, is often impressed by what he can build.

God, on the other hand, is not dazzled by man’s accomplishments.

Only one kingdom “will never be destroyed.”

According to Daniel 2:44, it is the kingdom “the God of the heaven will set up,” the kingdom God revealed in dreams to a pagan king named Nebuchadnezzar, dreams that only his servants Daniel could interpret.

It’s not a matter of if the storms of life will come, it’s a matter of when.

And when they come, you want to be prepared, you want to have a firm grip on the anchor of your soul, Jesus.

But there’s another word I want us to add to our vocabulary today, and that’s the word remain.

We live in a world where storms will come, which highlights the necessity of having an anchor.

It’s not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

The storms are coming and there will be adversity, suffering, and pain. When we are faced with any of these we need to be prepared beforehand, ready for whatevermay come our way.

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas reminds us why we need to be secured to anchor, which is Jesus, in the midst of the storm.

An anchor is an amazing invention, used by fishermen and sailors for hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

The basic concept of an anchor is that it “is a device, normally made of metal, used to secure a vessel to the bed of a body of water to prevent the craft from drifting due to wind or current.”

An anchor is simple in its design, but very powerful in its function.

As believers, we are encouraged to remain steadfast and committed in our faith through every trial and storm that lifemay bring.

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas shares how we are anchored in hope and that hope is Jesus.

*We apologize for the audio issues we are having. Hope to have them corrected soon.

We live in a divided nation and a divided world. It is a division that causes rifts in relationships.

We get mad at friends who vote for a different candidate than we do and sometimes we scratch our heads why friends and family would vote different than us.

We listen to podcasts, watch news shows, read newspapers, choose social media follows, and read articles that not only support our beliefs but affirm our "rightness" in our beliefs.

By feeding our ideologies with like-mindedness, we have starved out a significant part of human connectedness – an unbiased relationship with all of God's people.

Inevitably, our added "rightness vs. wrongness" mindset has driven a wide wedge through God's crown of creation, leaving a deep ravine for divisiveness to dwell.

But what if we focused on the things that unite us as much as the things that divide us?

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas shares with us what unites us.

Sex sells.

You see this in tv adds, magazines, and on computer screens.

Peter Kreeft made this statement; “If lust ceased tomorrow, we would be plunged into the greatest economic depression in history. Remove sex appeal from advertising, advertising from the economy, and the economy from civilization and what would be left?”

Solomon said, “That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9

There is certainly nothing new about lust; its been with us almost from the very beginning and will remain with us until the very end—ruining something God created as good and holy.

Lust is an intense, consuming desire for something to satisfy our selfish passions without concern for the well-being of others or the commands of God.

What do you think of when you think of materialist?

Billionaires driving around in Lamborghinis, vacationing in the French Riviera, or hanging out in their New York penthouse.

The one image that doesn’t come to mind is someone going to church.

For most people, materialism is the opposite of spirituality.

The true materialistic person is a very spiritual person; it’s just that he or she has turned material wealth into a spiritual pursuit, which the Bible calls idolatry.

This might come as a surprise, but you don’t have to be wealthy to be a materialist.

A doctor struggled with how he should break the news to the unfortunate man.

“Sir, I’m sorry; it is the worst possible outcome we could have imagined. Test results indicate that you have rabies. We will do everything we can to make you comfortable. But I cannot give you false hope. There is nothing we can do to cure you.

My best advice is that you put your affairs in order as soon as possible.”

The infected man sat there for a moment and then asked the for a pen and some paper.

About an hour later the doctor returned. The man was still writing furiously.

“I’m glad to see you are writing out your will with such care,” the doctor said.

The man looked up from the page and said, “Oh, this is not my will. This is a list of people I want to bite before I die.”

You may not have written it down, but you’ve composed it in your head.

Your list includes a brother or sister, a friend or coworker, a parent or grandparent, or maybe a stranger you believe has wronged you in some way.

Maybe you have been a victim of abuse.

For others, there are no specific names or faces, just a gnawing bitterness at life, God, or people in general.

A mountain that seems insurmountable isn’t, as long as we’re willing to grow.

And with growth comes a change in perspective and a renewed hope that, in days to come, even Everest-like mountains can and will be conquered.

There is a good chance that you and I will never climb a literal mountain like Everest, but we will come face-to-face with other tall mountains.

Some of the mountains looming over us may be called doubt or discouragement.

Like Everest, there are mountains we all face in life that are overwhelming.

Usually at the end of someone’s life, the conversation that takes place is not about how many more vacations they wish they would have taken, how they should have purchased that big-screen TV, or how sad it makes them that they did not start a podcast.

Rather what people talk about is how they wish they had more time with their families, how they want to heal a broken relationship, or how they would have spent more time helping people.

These conversations are around the things that truly matter most.

When time is limited, people speak from the heart.

It is these final words that we really should pay attention to because they are the things that are most important to that individual.

How do you respond to confrontation?

Do you respond with humility and repentance, or do you react in anger?

Does the issue suddenly become the person confronting you?

Do you tell him or her never to talk that way to you again?

What about the time you have had to confront others?

Do you look back on that with regret, perhaps wishing you hadn’t taken that course of action, or do you look back praying that God would use your imperfect attempts for good?

We are humans. That means confrontation will always be necessary.

Nehemiah 12 should remind believers we need an eternal perspective, one that goes in both directions.

It should remind us that all that we see God doing in our time is part of the grand work of his redemption to save a people to himself from every nation.

What God is doing now has always been in his heart, and it will declare his glory throughout all eternity.

It should give rise both to rejoicing over what God has done and rejoicing for what he is doing and is going to do in the future.

Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas reminds us that the dedication of the wall is really the people’s dedicating themselves to protect the things of God and carry out his purposes.

The walls are completed, and the gates have been restored, and the enemy is flustered.

But a city is much more than walls, gates, and houses: a city is people.

In the first half of Nehemiah the people existed for the walls, but now the walls must exist for the people.

Rebuilding the wall is only the first step in removing the reproach from those who returned from exile.

The walls do not exist for their own sake.

Their significance depends on what is supposed to happening inside Jerusalem itself, the thriving community of God for the glory of God.

Every believer comes to Christ by faith. However, many believers fail to realize that there call to Christ is also a call to become an essential member of the community of faith, the body of Christ, the church. Believers become a part of (the people of) God for the purpose of glorifying him in doing the work of God. Christopher Wright states, “It is not so much the case of God has a mission for His church in the world, as that God has a church for His mission in the world. Missions was not made for the church; the church was made for mission-God’s mission.” Join us as Dr. Chuck Jonas shares how Nehemiah and the people of God carry out the mission to which they have been called—the removal of the reproach of God’s people by rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.

The point of Christmas is that God came to dwell with us so that we could dwell with Him forever.

As John reminds us in the first chapter of his Gospel, the “Word was God . . . [and] the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (verses 1, 14).

When you think of the enormity of God, the complexity of His creation, and the majesty of His glory, this effort for our salvation is beyond comprehension.

Why would God go to such lengths to restore us to Himself? The answer, of course, is found in His nature. It’s found in the one-word God uses to describe Himself in 1 John 4:8: “God is love.”

So with Christmas nearly upon us, Dr. Chuck Jonas helps us to preserve and protect the real treasure and meaning of the holiday by looking at the account of the Magi.

Christmas is certainly a time of waiting and expectation.

You can feel the expectation build as children grow more and more antsy in their classes at school as they wait for the big day to arrive. As we prepare and wait, it occurs to me that the vast majority of our lives is filled with waiting and preparation while only a fraction is filled with actual experience, celebration, or doing stuff.

Our short time on earth is more about preparation for eternity in heaven than what we accomplish or do on this earth.

In fact, the best use of our time on earth is to prepare our hearts to become more like Jesus and to help other people get prepared to meet Jesus in heaven.

The primary point of the Old Testament is preparation for one moment.

Join us as Pastor Chuck Jonas shares with us what is means to prepare and what we should expect this Christmas Season.

The Psalms have been for faithful Christians the source of song and praise and, along with the Lord’s Prayer, the pattern for our most earnest and joyful prayers.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer learned much about prayer in his courageous struggle against the Nazis in Germany.

He insisted that Christians cannot really learn to pray unless they come to the Psalms.

He considered it a dangerous error “to think that the heart can pray by itself.

For then we confuse wishes, hopes, sighs, laments, rejoicings—all of which the heart can do by itself—with prayer. And we confuse earth and heaven, man and God. Prayer does not mean simply to pour out one’s heart. It means rather to find the way to God and speak with him, whether the heart is full or empty” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Psalms: The Prayer Book of the Bible [Minneapolis: Augsburg Fortress, 1974], 9).

The Psalms are full of the range of human emotions—all offered to God in prayer.
