He serves as the women's basketball head coach and the campus pastor at Brewton Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA. BPC is where Christian and I both got our B.A. degrees in Christian Studies. During our years at BPC, coach Edwards was one of our closest mentors. He has been in ministry for many years, and has a lot of God stories to share, along with advice for ministers. Throughout this podcast, Steve shares his story and discusses his life as a minister. Throughout the conversation, we spent a lot of time just discussing ministry from all of our perspectives and sharing some important advice from experience and scripture about "Ministry Lifers" as Steve called it! Hello everyone! On this podcast, I (Jonathan Jenkins) am sharing a sermon I preached to my church. This sermon is a summary of a month's worth of teaching True Love Waits to the youth at my church. There is a lot that is covered and many questions that are answered regarding this issue. I start out by talking about what TRUE love is, what kind of relationships do we have, etc. Then I get into the topic of sex and how God through His word deals with that issue. Finally, I summarize with a response for the Gospel. This is a much needed message today to clear up many misunderstandings and abuses found within the sexual culture that we live in. Well, we are sure you all have seen the He Gets Us commerical that played during the super bowl in 2024, and another commercial appeared during the super bowl in 2023. The commercials have also appeared on other shows and events on TV as well. The He Gets Us campaign has caused quite the controversey from all sides of our highly divided culture. Liberals, conservatives, Christian, non-Christian, etc. have all began throwing their opinions around about this campaign. Some say it has a bad agenda, others say it is not fair to the Gospel.

Well, Christian and I spent some time reasearching the campaign, watching and listening to some other thoughts and opinions on this topic, and recorded this episode of the podcast. We take a deep dive into the criticism that the campaign is receiving, read some interesting things directly off of their website, share some interesting quotes, etc. We felt like we have fairly and generously laid out what is really going on and if any of the criticisms are actually accurate. We also have a theological discussion on evangelism and pre-evangelism.

We covered quite a bit in this episode, but we wanted to make sure we gave a fair review of the issues at hand.

During the Christmas season, we often here the slogan from Christians: "Remember the reason for the season." Now, this is a good slogan, based on the fact that Christmas day is a day of celebration for Christ's birth. But, did you know there is a possibility that Jesus may not have been born on December 25? Not that it is a huge deal about which day we celebrate the birth of our savior, but it is interesting to research it! Christian and I (Jonathan) have spent some time researching the most accurate birth date of Jesus and shared it in this podcast! We tried our best to give a fair presentation of the data, and to help you begin studying deeper into this topic if you desire! Many times, Christians get saved and then they stay there. Maybe Christians become stagnant. One the keys to this is becoming more than a believer. Hello everyone! We had the opportunity to hear what God has done in the life of Mrs. Jo Ann Lapp from her childhood all the way to today! Mrs. Jo Ann grew up in a religious culture, but not neccesarily a Christian culture. She knew a little bit about God and the Bible growing up, but she was lacking a relationship with Him. Some hyper charismatics claim every disease and mental illness is some sort of demonization, while some others don't even believe demons are an active part of this world. Could mental health be the result of a fallen human nature? Are there times where someone has a mental health issue like depression and it is caused by demonic possession or some sort of demonic activity? He holds a PhD in Near Eastern Languages, and he is known all across the world as a defender of the faith and most known for his work answering the Jewish objections to the Christian faith. This question is a huge topic in our world today. Some people believe that nobody anywhere should ever drink even a drip of alcohol. Others believe there is nothing wrong with drinking alcohol, as long as it is done in moderation. Still, others believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong with drinking alcohol or even getting drunk, just as long as you do so safely. So, which of these is true according to God's Holy Word? Jonathan and Christian are back! We have both wrestled with personally and have been asked by many others about the problem of evil. In short, the problem of evil goes like this: If God is omnisicient (knows everything), omnipotent (all powerful), omnipresent (is everywhere), and is all loving, then why does He allow evil? Why did He allow my family member to die? Why is allowing rape, murder, war, etc. Why does all of this take place if God could stop it? That is the argument that Christian and I have been addressing in personal conversations for years now, so we want to share what we believe to be a confident answer for the hope that we have in Jesus Christ! We believe that anyone, Christian or not, will highly benefit from listening to our conversation!

The big new Christian movie is out called: Jesus Revolution. It is the story of a historical Christian movement that included the late Chuck Smith and Lonnie Frisbee and also pastor Greg Laurie of Harvest Church. What do people think of the movie? What do the critics think of the movie? What are my (Jonathan) thoughts on the movie? What is discipleship? If you asked multiple Christians and pastors what discipleship is and an even tougher question: how do we implement it in our churches, you would receive multiple responses. There is a lot of confusion and guessing that surrounds the idea of Christians discipling other Christians. There is also an issue of a lack of discipleship in the lives of many Christians and churches. On this podcast, we invited one of our friends, Ray Sullivan on to discuss this podcast. Ray Sullivan currently serves as a discipleship catalyst for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. He felt the burden to study this topic in depth, and to help implement discipleship in churches. He explains what discipleship is, some important aspects of the discipleship process, encourages pastors and Christians in this area and clears up a lot of confusion surrounding disciplesip! It was a great conversation, and I know you will be blessed by it!

One thing that I have been told over and over and over again by people (parents, friends, neighbors, etc.) is that Christianity or, more broadly speaking, religion is not for them. I've invited parents of teens at my church to my church before, and that is the response that I have gotten. I bet all of us Christians have noticed that people are turned off today to any type of organized religion. We may have even heard Christians use the phrase: "I don't have a religion, I have a relationship." There is a battle getting people interested in Christianity and realizing that they need a savior and Jesus Christ is the ONLY savior. So, how do we go about responding to our friends and neighbors that claim that religion is not for them? How do we respond to people that believe Christianity is nothing more than a hobby that gives people some meaning to life? Find out in this podcast!

Welcome to an exciting episode of Grace Bond Ministries! I (Jonathan) have wrestled with the ideas of God having soverign power and humans having true, libertarian free will. On this podcast, I have invited a new colleague, Trent Blake, who is a firm molinist to explain what Molinism is, how it compares to other major views like Calvinism, Arminianism and Open Theism, explaining some scriptures that seem to easily support Molinism and others that are a challenge to Molinism. Molinism is mainly focused on the theological theory of the middle knowledge of God, which is basically that God has full knowledge of what could happen, what would happen and what will happen. If God simply has foreknowledge of these three ideas, then it is possible that human beings could have true libertarian free will. We also discussed Molinism in a practical sense, discussing did God use free will and somehow Jesus's prophecies all come true? Does Molinism help us answer the problem of evil (if God is all knowing, loving and powerful, then why does he allow evil to exist?)? Are we predestined to be believers or nonbelievers, or do we have the free will choice to believe in Jesus for our salvation? Do people die when God determines them to die, or do our free will choices affect how long we live? There are many other topics covered in this podcast, and if you are struggling with understanding how God in His Soverign power works, you definitely will want to listen into this podcast! I'm sure you have heard by now, but the historical decision of Roe. v. Wade has been overturned by our current supreme court. This has spiked quite the outrage from those of the pro-choice side of the issue and excitement from those from the pro-life side of the issue. Christian and I have never done a podcast, specifically dealing with abortion, so here it is! We are not so much focused on the overturning of Roe v. Wade, but we are focused on looking at all of the facts from the development of the fetus, from scripture and from philosophy. We also spent a great portion of the podcast responding to some of the best arguments from the pro-choice side of the debate. Does a fetus really have the qualities of personhood? At what point does someone become a person? Does the Bible have anything to say about babies in the womb? Should abortion be a legal right of the mother, or should a shot at life be the right of the unborn fetus? What about in rare cases of rape, incest or when the health of the mother is at risk? What if the baby is going to be placed into ungodly foster care and grow up horribly? There are lots of questions surrounding this issue, so Christian and I tried our best to tackle and discuss these difficult questions! This report shares the findings for hundreds of sexual abuse claims within SBC churches over the last 20 years. In this podcast, Christian and I share what the findings were, we talk about the Johnny Hunt accusations, the possible solutions to this issue in the future (which I, Jonathan, read verbatim from the report), and how we should respond, not just as Southern Baptists, but as Christians. Recently, Florida governor Ron Desantis signed a bill into law called HB-1557 and later given the nickname, by the opposers of the bill, "Don't Say Gay Bill." Christian and I want to make sure everyone understands the events that have transpired since governor Ron Desantis signed the bill into law. After clearing up some misunderstandings and clairfying some important points about this topic, Christian and I give our thoughts on how we believe Christians should respond to Disney and Desantis, along with our thoughts on how to deal with LGBTQIA+ issues. Embracing the divinely ordained roles of men and women furthers the ministry of God’s people and allows men and women to reach their God-given potential.” Egalitarianism is the opposite view which is defined as "a movement based on the theological view that not only are all people equal before God in their personhood, but there are no gender-based limitations of what functions or roles each can fulfill in the home, the church, and the society. It is sometimes referred to as biblical equality. Egalitarians understand the Bible as teaching the fundamental equality of women and men of all racial and ethnic groups, all economic classes, and all age groups, based on the teachings and example of Jesus Christ. It should not be confused with secular political, economic, social egalitarianism.” This topic seems to be very divisive in our churches in this day and age, and it is worth the time to study and understand both sides of the debate here. Can I tell you something? I am a sinner. I was actually born a sinner. I was born destined to Hell because of my sin. The bible calls this darkness or spiritual death. Like a zombie. You know one of the things I am a little afraid of is the dark. We all especially guys, hate admitting that we are afraid of the dark. I hate telling someone that I’m afraid of the dark. But you know it’s really not the dark that we get afraid of or nervous of or at the very least what gets us on edge, but it’s what could be out there in the dark. And the best thing to do in those situations is to shine a light. You know it’s funny, we think when we’re alone in the dark, that if we get safely to some light, that we are completely safe from any murderers or monsters. But of course that’s not true! But one of the things that makes me feel better in the dark is when I can shine the light to see what is out there. But you know there is one person that doesn’t like that. That’s the person that is supposedly trying to murder you. And when the Bible talks about the darkness, it’s talking about our sin! It’s talking about the sins with those around us. Darkness is the same thing as sin and evil. This is going to be important to know before we get into the verses. So one of the things I personally hate is when my sin gets revealed. I don’t go around telling people hey listen to this embarrassing sin I did. A murderer doesn’t go around saying let me tell you about this guy I just murdered. But here is the thing I always missed. I used to think that Jesus’ Holy Spirit exposing the dark dead in my life was so he could make me feel bad. So what I would do was I would try really hard not to sin, relying on God as much as I thought I needed. What I didn’t realize is that the light is what I needed to focus on. It’s not so much about not participating in the darkness, but experiencing and living in the light.

But I would imagine all of us in here would rather keep our mistakes and wrongdoings all to ourself. Imagine if every week we met, if we all made a slide for the powerpoint that listed every wrong thing we’ve done over the last week. I mean everything! Not just the things we do, but the things that we think! But the darkness or the spiritually dead areas in our lives are places we don’t want others to see. We don’t care about doing a lot of the sinful things we do, until we’ve been caught. And one of the things that Jesus does in all of our lives is be the light. Jesus is the light that exposes the dead in our world and in us, because remember, we still have that old dead self in us that keeps rising back up. Jesus is the light that exposes the sins in our life. Jesus is the light that replaces the darkness in our lives. But I don’t want us to be confused here. Jesus does not expose the darkness to embarrass us or just to make us feel bad, but he does this to show us what light is like. In an episode of criminal minds that is about serial killers and kidnappers and stuff there were 2 sisters in one episode that were kidnapped when they were very young. The police were looking for them for many years, but no luck. Eventually, the FBI is called and find the 2 girls, and bring them back safely. Now these girls, they were sheltered from everything in life for years. During that time, they came out with smartphones and tablets. So one of the FBI agents gave them an ipad and they had no idea how to use it. They had never experienced a lot of the life that we would normally experience. It’s similar with the spiritual darkness. Until we can see the light, we know nothing of the light. So how does Jesus break down the walls around our life? How does Jesus reveal the darkness? The Spiritual death? What’s so great about the light, Jesus and living right?

How do we know that we are Christians and have moved from death to life? As Christians, we are awakened zombies who have moved from spiritual death into spiritual life. Jesus has changed us and regenerated us! Perhaps you're like I used to be and are not sure if you are truly saved? Well tune into this podcast so you too can be confident in your salvation!

I got saved when I was young. I don’t remember what age I was, maybe 8 or 9, but I do know I was young. My dad was a pastor, so I knew the Gospel from when I was young. How many of you in here were saved before middle school? Awesome! It is such a blessing, such a wonderful gift that we were saved so young. If I didn’t have Jesus, I could be in jail, addicted to drugs or alcohol, dropped out of school, whatever. I have no idea and I’m glad God saved me from that! During my high school years, I noticed very clearly that those who did not go to church talked and acted much differently than I did. They cussed and didn’t feel bad, drugs and alcohol and sex were a good thing. Having an abortion didn’t matter to them, cheating on boyfriends and girlfriends didn’t matter. Disrespecting their parents didn’t matter. Failing class and mistreating classmates and teachers didn’t matter. There was something different about them. During thought I thought about one of the dumbest things that a lot of Christians thought about. I thought I was better than them, and wanted to come up with ways to get them to choose to act like me. I thought I was a better person, better at this and that, I just thought I was better. I thought many of them were stupid and I was smart. As I grew up, I learned why this was stupid. I learned that I am not a good person. I learned that I am no different than them by my own choices. The only reason I am different, the only reason I stood out, the only reason I acted differently than them was because of a guy that came back from the dead. Jesus came back from the dead and changed the whole world. He changed my world. I once was a zombie and then I was awakened. I was brought back from the dead myself.

You see, we all as Christians have a tendency to sometimes think we are better than non Christians, and non Christians think they are the same as Christians. Christians always think non Christians are bad people, and they think they are alright, and sometimes even better than us. Here’s what I think. I think we are all bad people. I think everyone one of us in this room are as filthy. I think the way we typically think about ourselves and others is wrong, and we all need to stop pretending like we’re better than each other and turn to God and realize that standing before God, we are all on the same level. Every sin committed is disobedience to God. We all need to figure out what the difference is between the Christians and non Christians. Why are Christians going to heaven, and non christians going to Hell? How are we different? How did we Christians become awakened zombies? What is the difference between a zombie and a Christian? We all need to know this for various reasons. If we are Christians, we need to know how to treat those who are not Christians. And an even bigger reason that we need to know what the difference is between a zombie and a Christian is because there could be some of you in here that think and say you’re a Christian, but you’re not. So how do we figure this out? We turn to God’s word to learn about Zombies versus Christians.

What is Grace Bond Ministries?

This is the very last podcast on the letter of Philippians! We have journeyed through a lot of verses, passages and topics in this letter, and I think it has been greatly beneficial! In this section of the letter, Paul gives his closing thoughts to his fellow Christians in Philippi. In this portion, we learn about how to be content, how to handle finances (specifically tithing), paying a minister, sanctification, unity between the saints, and just how to trust God in our lives and with out lives. Be sure to go back and listen to all of the lessons on Philippians, so that you can be exhorted and encouraged in the Lord Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith!

On this podcast, Jonathan begins teaching on the last chapter of Philippians. In this part of the book, we learn of one of the main reasons Paul wrote this letter to the Philippians. This is followed by some practical advice about worry, anxiety, positive thinking, and how to deal with persecution. There is a lot we can learn from this passage, which is why it is often quoted a lot during counseling or in many different devotionals, which makes it even more important to know and understand the context surrounding it. Jonathan and Christian are back! We have both wrestled with personally and have been asked by many others about the problem of evil. In short, the problem of evil goes like this: If God is all omnisicient (knows everything), omnipotent (all powerful), omnipresent (is everywhere), and is all loving, then why does He allow evil? Why did he allow my family member to die? Why is allowing rape, murder, war, etc. Why does all of this take place if God could stop it? That is the argument that Christian and I have been addressing in personal conversations for years now, so we want to share what we believe to be a confident answer for the hope that we have in Jesus Christ! We believe that anyone, Christian or not, will highly benefit from listening to our conversation!

This is a continuation of the online Philippians Bible study! We are finally sneaking into the last chapter! In this portion, we see a response to the question "if Christians are saved and are made righteous by faith, does that mean we don't really do anything after we put our faith in Jesus?" Paul just finished the last portion, summarized in verse 9, that he received righteousness from Jesus through faith, because it was impossible to be righteous doing only works of the flesh like the Judaizers were suggesting. But this does not mean that he is not trying to grow in his faith, but it does mean that he is always seeking after perfection. So tune in as we break down this section of Philippians! You may even hear me call out some false teachings going around and some bad representatives of the truth of God's word, including Hyper-Grace teachers, legalists, works-based salvationist, those who choose the wrong citizenship and maybe a few others. But this lesson will hopefully give you a fuller understanding of what life is like after salvation, and how we can constantly grow in relationship with Christ! God bless!

Ohhhhh man! Jonathan and Christian really did it now! They are going straight for something controversial among Christians. Many Christians today debate whether or not “Reckless Love” by Cory Asbury is biblical, should be sung in church or even in private, what should a congregant do if they think that the song is so unbiblical that they shouldn’t even allow their worship leader to sing it. Should they stand up and openly rebuke the leader and the song during the service? Or maybe should they simply allow the song even though they don’t think it’s biblical and should be sung? How important are theologically sound songs? Does it really matter as long as I am worshipping God with all of my heart? Well Christian and I are going to discuss our thoughts on these questions and more as we go analyze this song and interpret the scriptures together. We are going to go through the verses of the song and cross and then the oh so controversial chorus! Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! Jonathan is continuing the online bible study of Philippians in 3:1-11 today. In this section, we move onto the issue and threat of the "dogs" and "evil workers" which are the Judaizers. They believed that you had to be circumcised to be saved. Paul thought this to be a drastic change to the Gospel message which says the only way to be righteous is to put our faith in Jesus Christ! There is no other way! In this passage, he challenges us by helping us sift through those who teach any form of works based salvation. In this study we will discuss and answer questions including:

What is the relationship and difference between Law and Gospel?
Is doctrine (a set of beliefs) important?
Can we just believe what we want?
What does it take to be saved?
What are the requirements for entry into Heaven?

Devotional and a Year in Review!

Wow! It is amazing to see what God has done through this podcast! What started out as me, wanting to share my God gifted knowledge on Facebook and YouTube turned into an entire podcast! I have had some of my videos viewed hundreds of times and some viewed just a couple of times, but nonetheless the Lord has shown the fruit of the labor to me, and I hope to strenghten this podcast as the years go on! I will never stop sharing the truth, never stop pushing barriers, never end with battling false teaching and satanic teaching. I will never give up as long as my Lord is with me! Tune into this podcast as I not only share the year in review, but also talk about the major changes in my own life! I am not doing this to brag about myself, but I hope that as you hear how the Lord has intervened in my life it will strengthen your faith that you have in Him! If you want to strengthen your faith in the Lord, then you should tune into this conversation!

If you listen to this podcast regularly, when you hear this sermon, you may hear some similarities between this message and the podcast entitled "Not About You, But About Pleasing God." I was asked to preach on 12/19/21 during the morning services at First Baptist Church of Floral City and decided to preach this message to the whole church! I think it is a much needed message that I know I will listen to many times, and I hope you will take the time to listen as well. There is an issue that I have seen in my own life, even to this day, even after preaching this message three times. It is an issue that I know has plagued humanity for thousands of years. The problem is selfishness. I have been so selfish in my life by not worshipping and following God in many situations. I chose my own selfish desires (sin) over pleasing God, time and time again. As Christians, we are not called to be selfish, but to be selfless. This means that we put God and others before ourselves. While I don't think we can perfectly be selfless, until after we have our glorified sinless bodies in the resurrection, I do think we can please God by pursuing the perfection of selflessness. So after realizing the issue that we face, in this sermon we will read through the "Forbidden Chapter," Isaiah 53 and look at the example of Jesus Christ. Find out in this sermon why this is the forbidden chapter, how we can be more selfless in a selfish world, and how life is not about you, but it IS about pleasing God!

Listen in as I read this passage to you and give you a little bit of commentary on the passage as well! Back in October, I attended a conference that was supposed to be an apologetics conference. I was very excited to take the youth for them to hear about my favorite topic, apologetics. Long story short, I only took 2 youth with me to the conference, and I am glad I did, because what I heard was really just some guy calling himself an apologist that simply failed to deliver in my opinion. I am not going to drop any names, but what I will do is share some of the information I gathered from listening, and share that with you, as well as give a more personal detailed analysis. I will also explain more why I think this apologetics conference was one of the worst that I have ever been to! Be sure to tune in! This is the next part of the Philippians Bible study. Here, we will look at two examples of the Christ-like character that Paul has been exhorting us to and that he has shown through the reference to Jesus Christ. Timothy and Epaphroditus were two men who genuinely put the interests of others before their own (2:3-4) and lived lives worthy of the Gospel (1:27). We can learn so much from these two men here, and the lifestyles that they lived. As you listen to this bible study and interact with it, keep this question in your mind, "How would people describe you? Would it be like one of these two or something better or worse?" God bless! Around this time of year, many pastors and facebook memes will say "Remember the reason for the season!" This reason being Jesus and the celebration of his birth. This is an important thing to remember during this Christmas season, but, it is also important to remember this throughout all of our lives! Remember the reason you even have physical life and eternal life is through God and His Son Jesus! But I have noticed that MANY people, including myself have made so much of our lives about ourselves than about Jesus Christ. This is something that is not always easy to spot, but once you listen to this sermon, I hope that you can see, as I did, all of the times in my life where God became second in my life, and myself first. In this sermon I briefly exegete Isaiah 53, which is the clearest prophecy about the suffering Messiah in all of the Old Testament. And, as we look at the detailed example of Jesus and how he put God and us before his own self, we see the clearest example of a truly selfless person!
